I had a discussion with my step-dad recently about how my job, despite being a multi-billion dollar company, got rid of the insurance I had signed up for when I first started and left only the lower quality one with way less coverage.

I had to stop seeing my therapist because the appointments were almost 200$ a visit when they used to be 40$ and then my psych dr was also almost 200$ a visit (also used to be 40$) and all of my meds add up to over 100$ a month, and to get blood work done, I pay my copay of 25$ to my dr and then my insurance bills me for the blood work even though they didn't do that before the insurance change.

BTW the cost of the bloodwork is always over 100$ without my insurance covering it. I get bloodwork done every 3 months because I need that constant testing so I can keep getting hormones.

Plus, I make 10$/hour. Then 10% goes towards retirement, 5% goes to taxes, around 100$ goes towards vision, dental, Medicare, and my insurance that doesn't cover most of what I need it for.

Then, I have to pay for gas every two weeks which is ~100$/ a month, I have a 70$ phone bill, credit card debt because I'm not making enough money to buy the things I need so I use my credit card. And I have student loan debt for an education I never got certified in which I pay 50$ a month.

And I just got a new phone because my old one was so broken I couldn't use the lock button without it reseting twenty or more times, a process which could sometimes take over an hour.

I financed the phone so I could get a better quality one instead of another 200$ phone that's gonna die way sooner. I want to pay it off as soon as possible so that they don't charge interest which mean I have to pay it all off within 6 months. It's a 400$ phone which, for someone who has more money, isn't a lot but, for me, its one of the most expensive things I've bought this year.

That's roughly 1,020$ a month not even counting paying off my credit card or buying food for myself to take to work and when I don't have food made by my stepmom because she doesn't cook every night because she's overworked and exhausted. I make less than 300$ a week, that leaves less than 180$ at the end of the month for food and credit card debt and a chunk of that goes towards my roth ira because I'd like to be a homeowner one day.

And I'm supposed to be putting money in my savings for a rainy day fund. Which doesn't leave anything to buy myself things I really want. At this rate, I'll never be able to get top surgery.

I never finished college because I started wracking up debt in my fsfa that I didn't qualify for enough coverage because they decided that since I lived in two households simultaneously, they would both have enough to put me through college even though I had 3 other siblings going through college at the exact same time so there was no way both households could afford to send me or my little brother, or even two of my sisters who had started college before us, I possibly have ADHD that I've never been treated for and couldn't focus on class because it wasn't the right level of stimulation because it was gen ed, didn't do the homework because I couldn't make myself do it no matter how hard I tried, got depressed when my grades got low, and couldn't fix them in time so I stopped after a semester.
