This is gonna sound slightly unhinged, and I only half mean it, but ppl who say Ludinus is morally grey and Orym is biased should say the same thing about the Briarwoods and Percy or Laudna.
I mean, they had a tragic backstory. They were trying to summon something into this world that the gods absolutely did not want there. They gave absolutely zero fucks about the people they hurt in the process to gain enough power to get to that goal. And I mean, they were just doing what they had to in order to reach that goal, it was for the greater good.
Oh? And Percy or Laudna? They are obviously biased. I mean, the Briarwoods killed Their family, and tortured them. how could they ever look at them neutrally. Obviously they should not be listened to when it comes ro the Briarwoods.
The difference? They were coded more obviously evil and had an undead theme. That does not make Ludinus anymore morally or ethically correct than them. He is just willing to destroy the world for himself instead of someone else. I would bet that by now Ludinus has hurt far more people than the Briarwoods ever did, given they were limited to a single city and Ludinus started a war between two countries to feed his ambition. Just because the Briarwoods did it with style does not mean the people they hurt count for 10.
Anyways, this ramble is slightly exaggerated, obviously, and I am posting way to much about this, but you can always ignore me if I start to annoy :)

I have to admit, the village elder's comment about going up against a corrupt and unfair government (wich is basically what Ludinus is aksing people to do) talking about the gods, and that technically Ludinus's philosophy is hard to argue against almost made me laugh.
She is right, you must do that indeed. Except the guy telling you to do so, the leader and creator of the Cerberus Assembly, and one of the prime advisor of Bertrand Dwendal, IS the corrupt and opressive government. The guy successfully puts the spotlight on the gods because getting rid of them would make him able to get more opressive and powerful while everyone agrees with him, and I think Matt knows that. Now that's an efficient cult leader if I have ever seen one.
(I see some people convinced Ludinus believes that the gods stops the mortals to get in power. I personally think he actually just believes they stop HIM from getting more power, but you can't show that to the population, we've seen what happened to Vecna...)

Ludinus is really stupid. He knows the Predathos was locked behind a proto-divine gate, a LITERAL GOD EATER wasn't able to break out of its prison without the interference of Mortal men.
What does he think is gonna happen when Predathos is free? Does he truly believe that it's strong enough to break through a far stronger and more advanced Divine gate?
Like what is more likely to happen, a starved creature being able to bust through a gate, not even the Primes or Betrayers, are able to get through and eat ALL of them then piss out to the next planet?
Or
A starved Predathos breaks free and sees a whole lot of humanoids that possess divine abilities and decides to have themselves a little snack before regaining enough energy to get through the divine gate. And even if the divine gate is broken through, now you have a full-scale Calamity 2.0 that will have far more casualties?
A lot of yall who are in support of Ludinus' ideas are backing a man, that let years of child abuse slide under the hands of Ikithon slide because he was useful. A man who brought about the destruction of Molaesmyr and displaced hundreds and killed many. A man who was willing to START A WAR over artifacts that were not his, in the name of magical pursuits. But some of yall let it slide because "Gods are bads :("
Like the Gods aren't perfect, and the majority of critisms of the Gods are more so critics of religious institutions and monopolies, rather than the literal beings. But genocide, no matter how compelling, isn't gonna work.
Laudna and Orym are right in that the destruction of the Gods will create a power vacuum, and something much worse will fill it. As well as all the religious trauma many have faced are at the hands of other humanoids, not the Gods directly.

Ludinus Da'leth is why Molaesmyr fell
It was a failed earlier attempt to free Predathos.
In Aeor ruins, MN saw corruption akin to the Savalirwood. During C2 wrap-up, Matt confirmed the taint traced to something brought from Aeor.
A Luxon was part of the final key. There's many hints of them and Dunamancy in Aeor.
After fast-forwarding time, the machine decayed and diseased Ludnius's arm. The machine later destroyed many things.
Ludinus ruined Malesmyr.

[Spoilers C3E52] A Theory about...
Batteries.
So, been a bit since I went on a theory ramble, but FRIDA and some of the other revelations from last night have got me thinking.
FRIDA states that they think the Gods deserve a Rest and that Mortals have been keeping them "on" forever, powering them with their faith, being used like batteries (A very Arcanum-line of thinking, I think that some bias lasting from that time, regardless of missing memories is still informing their view on the Gods, after all, built and lived in Aeor, the place that was literally out here looking to kill the Gods, Ludinus is Aeorian pass it on).
And while I do not agree with their anger at the Gods or belief that Mortals would be better off without them, I had a realization when those comments were mixed with the revelations of what is occurring at the Maleus Key.
Exaltants are being sent up. Reilora are coming down. Children of Ruidus both, but if the former is becoming the latter has yet to be seen. If they are all malicious has also yet to be seen, but it was stated that Predathos created new life in its image after consuming Ethedok and Vordo(and likely a bit more).
And while FRIDA is looking at the Gods in a very mechanical sense, one can begin to see a thread that tracks with Ludinus's desires and might be true for what Predathos actually wishes.
If the Gods draw power from Mortals, they have been strengthened by them for Millenia, likely being much stronger than when Predathos first came about at the Founding, and while it did take all of the remaining Gods and the Titans to defeat the Beast, the world and the Gods were in their infancy. They have Grown, Changed, Strengthened from that distant beginning.
And how do you weaken a machine and eventually shut it down? You cut the power.
You take away the Batteries.
The world is going to burn. Under the Vanguard, the Call, and the Reilora, they are going to march and attempt to burn out the Faith so that the Gods can more easily become prey for Predathos.
That is my belief. I would love to hear what people think.

So, this is a discussion about fictional characters and should not be taken too seriously, however, I am a dramatic lil shit and this is my one chance to exaggerate however much I want.
That being said,
Im gonna need people to see the difference between being 'biased' and having experienced the pain something causes on this site.
No, Orym can not look at this situation 'neutrally'. That does not mean his opinion isn't important in this situation. It's like saying that people who's homes were destroyed by climate disasters should not be trusted to make decisions on climate change. Their voice is the most important in that conversation! They're the one who experienced the consequences of other peoples actions!
And I know Orym isn't perfect or the most morally correct or anything in that direction. But dismissing his opinion in this matter because it comes from grief is so fucking ignorant.
Ludinus does not CARE about anyone but himself or anything but his own glory. You can tell that by:
- the war he started for a artifact he barely knew anything about
- the children he tolerated Trent torturing and using for the power of the assembly
- the city he ruined for some fucked up experiments
- the poison he used for a TEST DRIVE so the collateral damage he caused that was a 'tragic necessity' could not be fixed.
And probably tons of other things that I am forgetting or aren't revealed to us yet.
Im not a fan of the gods in this world or the power they have. I don't think many people are after these past few episodes. But that doesn't mean you should trust the guy willing and seemingly delighting to cause so much collateral damage, when he says he wants to release a god eater into this world noone knows anything about, and DISMISSING the person who wás the collateral damage because he's 'biased'.
That's some ostrich behavior.

So the ashari are descended from the Gau’drashari from the calamity, and Ludinus (who presumably lived through the calamity??) is trying to harness/ manipulate their power to extend his life long enough to get to the moon and release predathos to kill the gods who destroyed everything he knew during the age of arcanum when wizards got close discovering the power of the gods. Not just in how to become one, mind you, but also how to harness their power entirely (the creation hammer etc.) to create and destroy anything they please. Ludinus wants to free” everyone from the gods to gain their power. Honestly, I have to respect the RIDICULOUS long game he played. I wish I had a tenth of that drive and focus💀

Some thought from episode 60
I wish someone would mention in-game that fact that people in Ludinus’ side (Otohan and her people) killed some of Orym’s people and also killed Orym, Fearne, and Laudna.
Laudna was also brought back because of a god, or at least a follower of a god.
Like whether or not you like the gods, Ludinus is a bad guy and I wouldn’t trust his side ever. Like more of a focus on not siding with Ludinus than whether or not they like the existence and/or interference of gods.
I feel like taking the gods away (going down Ludinus’ path of destroying them) is just doing what Ludinus thinks the gods are doing. Taking their choice away. Ludinus and his group believe that the gods are puppeteering their lives or controlling them but don’t really care that by destroying all the gods they have taken control of other people’s lives
