Vulla/Fulla/Volla.
Sister of the high goddess Frigga and the closest member of her court of Disir. In Friggas sacred hall of Fensalarna.
Her name may mean "of great abundance" or "overflowing abundance" or "complete"
Her name can point to her being associated with wealth and fertility.
The maiden Fulla can be seen as a Goddess of secrets and tressures. Seense Its she who guards Friggas belongings and her secrets, most of so the tressure cheast of secrets. Like her husband, Frigga knows all things, maybe some even that not even her husband know of, but Volla knows, and speak nothing of them.
This makes her a goddess of great power but a rather calme and orderly one, who act with thougt.
To her you can turn, to remain secrets hidden and things of great worth be safe.
When Odin and Frigga made a bet if a king was good or not, Frigga sent Fulla out to warn the King that a dangerus wizard was to come, wich lead to Odin being captures beetween two great fires.
When Nanna and Baldur died and went to Hel they also made sure to seend gift to Frigga and Fulla.
These myths point to that she was a goddess of importance and likely played a part in lost myths before the writings of Snorri.
But in the art and in tressures and secrest, her name still is alive and well and her place amung the Disir still stands fast and clear.

As far as I know newboy doesnt copy specific lines from barbie. They just take common fashion doll concepts, which of course barbie also uses. But I guess the magic of Pegasus was just that cool to them???
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For me its the box shape and accessory that makes me believe they took inspo from magic of pegasus. I always figured this was a sort of unique design for fulla, at least now I know why lol. Idk why they did this. I forgot the magic of Pegasus even existed. Was that movie/doll popular? I was born after it released so I would have no clue. But if it was, that could explain it.
This was a big release, too. The commercial for the singing doll even had a custom animation at the end, so they expected a lot from this release. Which I guess they got? I see listings for it everywhere so I suppose it sold well. I might get one, it's very pretty and the Ya Taiba song it sings is very pleasing to my ears. I'll just have to grind up some money lol.
Compared to other releases, I see much more images from the singing doll. It's the same case for the boutique line so I guess the late 2000s were a good time for fulla (boutique was released in 2008 and singing doll in 2007, this era seems to be marked by the kinda creepy illustration of fulla that you can see in this image, as well as the detailed white flower illustrations.)
Tumblr media
I'll also have to draw them hanging out in these outfits, it's super cute to me that they have a matching outfit since I like to think they're good friends.

Masterpost: Frīg's Handmaidens Project
Who are the Handmaidens?
In the Prose Edda, twelve Goddesses are listed after Frigga as Ásynjur: Fulla, Gefjon, Hlín, Syn, Eir, Sága, Gná, Vár or Vór, Snotra, Vör, Lofn and Sjöfn. Modern Heathens sometimes refer to Them as Frigga's Handmaidens. (This is a piece of shared gnosis, not an historically attested term.) For many of the Twelve, this is all that survives in the way of attestations.
What is the Project?
Gradually over several years, and more intentionally recently, I have been building a devotional cultus around these Goddesses. As part of that, I've been putting together primers on each of the Twelve on my longform blog -- detailing Their surviving attestations, Old English God-names and epithets for Them, my own personal experiences and upg, a prayer, and devotional icon art -- as well as essays and modern myths exploring other aspects of Them and my cultus to Them.
Although I use Old English names for Them and honour Them in a syncretic heathen practice drawing on influences from across the British and Irish Isles, I hope these may be useful and/or interesting for practitioners working in a Norse, Continental, or other context. Or for anyone worshipping and building cultus to lesser-known and lesser-attested Gods!
I will update this post periodically, but if you like you can subscribe to my longform Wordpress blog for updates when I post.

Norsery Rhymes from A to Z Folla - Goddess of Full Abundance
Well here we are on another ThorsDay with another quick 20 min sketch of a Norse (and Germanic, sometimes Celtic) mythological characters.  This week it’s a version of Folla / Fulla / Volla.
Her name has been translated to mean 'full', or 'abundant', or 'bountiful' from the proto-germanic 'fullōn'. She's also know as "The Wise Confidante", and the "Goddess of Service".
She is an maiden attendant and confidante of Frigg. And attested as her sister on some old German charms. She would look after, and even guard, Friggs things and household, including her most precious treasure in her Ash box. While also attending Friggs needs while she went about her duties.
She;s depicted as beautiful and wise, giving the best counsel.
She was prayed and made offerings too for bountiful harvests.
Her other notable feature is the gold ribbon she wears around her head.

So I Made a Purchase
Back in November of 2003, the Middle East got their own version of Barbie, named Fulla. Fulla's a type of flower (I believe) and she has proven to be quite popular.
Tumblr media
Now, to import one from the Middle East is super expensive. So, I went onto Mercari and found the doll pictured above for $18 plus $4.99 shipping. And now, she's mine. Yep, I bought one. Figured she'd look good on my doll shelf.

Fulla and Pollux
If the name of Norse goddess Fulla indeed means ‘bountiful’, as is thought, then it comes from the same root as the name of the Greco‐Roman god Pollux.
