Der Kader wurde aufs neue komplett ausgetauscht, von den Vorjahres-Riesen sind nur David McCray und Andrew Waleskowski übrig geblieben. Alle anderen sind neu, wobei meines Erachtens Konstantin Klein und Bogdan Radosavljevic die Highlight-Verpflichtungen waren. Auch Trevor Mbakwe und Bayern München-Talent Karim Jallow erscheinen erwähnenswert.

Gestern wurde der Vertrag zwischen Radosavljevic und Ludwigsburg mit sofortiger Wirkung einvernehmlich aufgelöst, und sofort sind die Kritiker von Coach John Patrick einvernehmlich laut geworden.

JP sei ein Schleifer und würde manchen Spielern gar keine Chance geben. Das Mannschaftsgefüge sei schlecht und der Trainer sei schuld daran.

Fakt ist, dass Headcoach John Patrick seit mehr als einem Jahrzehnt bewiesen hat, dass er sehr viel von Basketballführung und von Führungsbasketball versteht. Er hat mit Göttingen den Europacup gewonnen und Ludwigsburg drei Jahre in Folge in die PlayOffs gebracht. Ebenso verdankt man ihm atemberaubende Abwehrschlachten in der Champions League, die letzte Saison zur Teilnahme am Top4-Turnier in Athen führten. Im Vorjahr war man noch dank einem Punkt im Viertelfinale gescheitert.

Fakt ist aber ebenfalls, dass Ludwigsburg den diesjährigen Saisonstart verschlief und man noch nicht das Gefühl hat, dass der Kader miteinander harmoniert. Die neuen Spieler sind hauptsächlich No-Names, und diejenigen mit großen Namen haben in erster Linie so eingeschlagen wie Bogdan Radosavljevic - als Rohrkrepierer.

In der vergangenen Saison war die Situation anfangs ähnlich. Die meisten Spieler waren neu und kaum einer war bekannt. Damals hatte Ludwigsburg allerdings den Vorteil, die komplette Tortur der Champions League Qualifikation zu erleben: dank den Duellen gegen Sarajevo, Klausenburg und Brüssel konnte sich das Ludwigsburger Team früher als alle anderen deutschen Mannschaften einspielen. Dazu kam John Patricks sprichwörtliches Personalglück, nämlich mal wieder Leute zu finden, die wenig kosten und trotzdem in sein Spielsystem passen.

Denn das, was John Patrick wirklich kann, war schon immer Systembasketball. Seine Spielweise ist fullside court press oder, anders ausgedrückt, Terror-Basketball: diese Spielweise ist hoch aggressiv und fordert von allen Spielern ihr Maximum ab. Ergebnis davon sind wenig Dreier, aber viele Offensivrebounds und Steals in der gegnerischen Hälfte, sodass man hauptsächlich einfache Punkte macht. Und sofern man so spielt, muss jeder einzelne auf dem Feld die vollste Bereitschaft zeigen, in seinen fünfzehn bis zwanzig Minuten Spielzeit bis zur Leistungsgrenze zu gehen. Denn ausgewechselt wird vom Coach andauernd, damit kein Spieler zu stark belastet wird. John Patricks Game ist Teamspiel, das was die anderen Mannschaften bieten, ist höchstens Basketball.

Wenn der Vertrag mit Bogdan Radosavljevic aufgelöst wurde, hat das sicherlich seinen Grund. Und dieser wird mit Sicherheit nicht in der individuellen Qualität des ehemaligen Alba-Centers liegen, sondern einfach nur daran, dass er nicht zu John Patricks Systemspiel gepasst hat.

Ich persönlich erwarte diese Saison weniger von den MHP Riesen als in den Vorjahren. Grund hierfür ist nicht, dass ich Ludwigsburgs Team keine Überraschungen zutraue, sondern weil die letzten Saisons einfach nur Überraschungen gewesen sind.

Betrachtet man den aktuellen Kader nüchtern, muss man zugeben, dass selbst Mannschaften wie Gießen und Göttingen nicht schlechter aufgestellt sind. Eine Endplatzierung auf einem PlayOff-Platz wäre schön, aber selbst ein Platz 10 wäre in Anbetracht der stark aufgerüsteten Konkurrenz noch akzeptabel.

Dass man deswegen Headcoach John Patrick sofort ins Fadenkreuz nimmt, erscheint nicht nachvollziehbar. Denn ohne ihn würde Ludwigsburg regelmäßig um die Plätze 9-14 mitspielen. So zählt die Mannschaft zur Tabellenregion zwischen 6 und 10.

John Patrick gehört meines Erachtens so zu Ludwigsburg wie er zur deutschen Basketballlandschaft gehört: er ist im Schwabenland häuslich geworden und soll nach Möglichkeit bis zum Renteneintritt nicht mehr weggehen - in diesem Punkt bin ich mit Ludwigsburgs Präsident Alexander Reil einig.

Ich vertraue Ludwigsburgs Headcoach und bin dankbar dafür, dass er sich so gut um meinem Heimatverein kümmert. Denn wenn ich auch regelmäßig neue Spieler auf dem Spielfeld sehe, so sehe ich immer denselben Mann, der in demselben schwarzen Anzug mit derselben gelben Krawatte am Spielfeldrand steht.

Maybe, nothing was "exploited" at all, and maybe it'sYOU beating yourselfup without theright placement to understand the fullsided truth of another's actualactions.

The thing is, I’m not beating myself up about anything. Im more hurt by the fact that people these days, and now I’m talking generalized, I see it everywhere - people just talking about other people - don’t seem to take trust very seriously once everything else is lost. I get how some of those involved in my own “secrets or shames” may have to use those to better explain themselves to another party, for the sake of being understood, but I’m talking about them exploiting things that have no pertinence to any party but my own person. For example, I once knew someone who was going through things regarding their sexuality - things they confided in me, I’d gain nothing by sharing this with somebody completely uninvolved - just as I was once going through something (again, me, myself) that I chose to confide in another. What is there to gain by sharing these confidants with others? Especially when (on my side at least) it didn’t appear as if the sharing was being done to obtain any greater good. It was being done just to spread ammunition and hatred. And I only use the term “exploited” because I receive more hate fueled, name calling, anonymous messages that I do encouraging ones. Don’t get me wrong, I know I have a story with some pretty crappy parts, and I’m okay with those being shared, as embarrassing as it may be at times - so long as credit is given where it’s due, because that’s what I’ve worked for. not used to bring my successes down. If my story was being used to spread education, knowledge, the possibility that we’re not all doomed, that would be different. But from what I’ve received, it seems it’s only being used to breed hatred and divide, and that - I am not okay with. And id also like to add - some of the things that haven’t fallen into my inbox aren’t truths AT ALL. They sound to me like exaggerations, or an effort to make me out to be worse that what I really am. Nobody knows the truth about some of these things but myself, and yet, no ones even considered to ask the person who lived and made those decisions, ME. That makes me sad - because people are so quick to jump onto what they deem an “interesting story” but that’s another opinion for another time.
