Melanelixia subargentifera
Whiskered camouflage lichen
Today we're all about texture as M. subergentifera has is in spades. This foliose lichen has olive-brown to dark-brown lobes which grow in rounded patches or rosettes up to 11 cm in diameter. Toward the center of the rosette, this lichen produces abundant coarse granular or isidia-like soredia. These soredia are dark-brown when new, and become silvery-white when eroded. The lobes become more wrinkled and lined and lose their soredia as you go from the center out. And then the lobe tips are covered in teeny-tiny, silvery lichen whiskers! Body hair is beautiful, just FYI. The lower surface of this lichen is black toward the center, and lightens to brown toward the lobe margins. And in case you thought we were done with texture, think again! The lower surface is described as "rugose" (wrinkled) and "trabeculate" (cross-hatched fibrous), and has simple rhizines. If you want to experience all the textures that M. subargentifera has to offer first hand, look for it in northern and western North America, Europe, Central Africa, Asia, where it grows on bark, wood, and occasionally rock in sub-montane, deciduous forests.

If we reach $12000 in funding, the Mushroom Saint will be funded, and added to the Eldritch Sainthood tier. Mushroom Saint will be 2.7 inches long.
Since the poll was so close, both colorways will be made available: Blue Oyster, with black nickel plating; and Chanterelle, with gold plating.
Eldritch Sainthood backers will have the option to choose which colorway they want included in their set; with the option to purchase the other as an addon if desired.
You can pledge for these pins and more at the campaign page.
