Kdrama and Kmovies in ECQ part 1

Everything has changed since this ECQ. One morning when we woke up. Children do not need to go to school. We do not need to go to the office. It was suddenly a burden to go to the grocery. All the malls have been shut. No transportation. We were stuck and inside our homes at first there were many things you could do. But one by one as each cupboard turned upside down. Each tile of the floor swept and mopped there is kind of nothing to do. Except for me and husband as we are wfh but still you find empty times when you think did I just rearranged my bags or did I just folded my undies? And so the quest for something to do happened. Netflix, Youtube, Viu, Dramanice, oh you are like a new set of friends that you would like to sneak out with and leave the school premises! And so I was hooked.

First I watched Descendants of the Sun. It did not disappoint. In fact I never wanted to watch Crash Landing on You because of DOTS. I was so amazed that the story never bored me. I guess a movie/show involving armies and/or doctors is appealing to me always. I always loved medical TV shows so I also watched Dr. Romantic and The Doctor.  Don’t get me wrong during my single days and even until I was preggo with my second child, I occasionally watched Kdramas but I was really choosy. I did not like stories that were too dragging and long. I remembered that because in The Doctors I had a crush with the lead actor there Kim Rae Won. I remembered that I said that is the Korean standard of handsome that I admire. He was the lead actor also in my old time favorite Which Star are you From. I remember he looked cool and also very good with the drama scenes. 

Going back to the time when I was pregnant with my second child, I was really fond of watching the Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Ju played by Lee Sung-kyung. I loved the story because it is unfamiliar for a love story to be portrayed in such a setting and character. I have never seen any other work of the lead actress there but now that I have watched her also in The Doctor and Dr. Romantic 2, I would say she is really a great actress. She is versatile I wish she would have more different roles than  the last one she would portray because she is great.

Naturally I loved The Doctor. There are certain parts of the story I related to the lead actress role done by Park Shin Hye. When she was still in high school and her father gave up on her and she lived with her grandma. I suddenly remembered again my mom. There were scenes there I remember sleeping with my mom when I was also in highschool. I related because those were the times when I thought I was grown up. I thought I knew everything and that my mom will ever be around. I was touched when the grandmom died because like the lead character in the movie when my mom left, I was also alone. I was not literally alone but I felt so alone. I felt that pain.

Another actress who caught my attention is Yoo In-Na.  I watched Touch Your Heart where she is with Lee Dong Wook. She is also great in terms of being cute and being an actress. I mean she could carry it as a beautiful actress combined with here acting skills. I watched this drama because as you know I am a law graduate and I was curious how would a story involving law run or turn out. Of course this was cheesy as the story was mainly about a celebrity and a lawyer falling in love but good parts of it were also about law and law practice. 

As I have said I love dramas or movies with doctors in it. So I watched Dr. Romantic. Han Suk Yu really carried the show but of course it was not bad that the love story of Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun-jin added color to the story as well as the little stories inside Doldam Hospital. Choi Jin-ho was equally great and his character well stood with Teacher Kim. 

For movies, so far I watched all Gang Dong Won movies like My Beautiful Life, Illang,  The Wolf Brigade and The Priests. One of my favorite to watch are about exorcism.  I have watched Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Rite,  The Conjuring and so when I found out about Gang Dong Won and his works, I was so excited to see it and it did not disappoint me. He is so versatile. I love that in all of the movies that I watched him, he is different. The roles he played were so unique with one another. As a fan I am proud of his work not to mention that he is quite young to be able to accomplish such beautiful work. I wonder why here in my country he is not that sensational compared to other Korean actors. If you have not seen any of his work, you better do. I am excited to watch another film of his, Vanishing Time.
