My current username is a mashup of just my regular nickname and Hylwicks, my friend Martin suggested it for me a while back and I liked it so much I used it I looooove Hylics! It's actually one of the main inspos for my own game, I use 3D assets turned into 2D sprites as a stylistic choice because of Hylics :]c

Experimenting with how I wanna draw Clark and Bruce, decided it would be best to draw them side by side to make sure they don’t look too similar *cough cough* Dc *cough*, also been wanting to draw them in 1940’s suits so combined them into one.

i feel like im not making any sense but does anyone else feel like there are stories that let u run with them and ones that spell everything out for you

#im reading that post that says artists are directors of audience reaction and not its dictator:#'you cannot guarantee that everyone viewing your work will react as you are trying t make them react. a good artist knows that this is what #allows work to breath. by definition you cannot have art where the viewer brings nothing to the table ... this is why you have to let go of #the urge to plainly state in text exactly how you think the work should be interpreted ... its better to be misinterpreted sometimes than #to talk down to your audience. you wont even gain any control that way; people will still develop their opinions no matter what you do #im thinking abt this again cuz i was thinking maybe the thing that lets adventure time work so well the way it does is cuz it doesnt #take itself too seriously that it gives the audience enough room to fuck with subtext and then fuck with them back yknow. i think it was #mentioned somewhere that they werent even planning to run with the postapocalyptic elements that are hinted in the show but changed their #mind after the one off with the frozen businessmen and dominoed into marcy and simons backstory. on the other side there are stories that #explain too much to let the story speak for itself and i think it ends up having to do more with the crew trying to lead ppl in a certain #direction than expand on what they have and i see a lot of this with miraculous. like when interviews and tweets are used as word of god in #arguments and it becomes a little stifling to play around with it knowing the creator can just interject. u can say its the crews effort to #engage with its audience but it feels more like micromanaging. and none of this is to say there ISNT room for stories that spell things out #theyre just suited for different things. if sesame street tried abstract approaches to themes and nuance itd be counterproductive #a lot of things fly over my head so i need help picking things apart to get it- but it doesnt have to be from the story itself. ive picked #picked up or built on my own interpretations listening to other ppl share their thoughts which creates conversation around the same thing #sometimes stories will spell things out for you without being so obvious abt it that it feels like its woven into the text. my fav example #for this might be ATLA using younger characters as its main cast but instead of feeling like its dumbed down for kids to understand why war #is bad its framed from a childs point of view so younger audiences can pick up on it by relating to the characters. maybe an 8 year old #wont get how geopolitics works but at least they get 'hey the world is a little more complicated than everyone vs. fire nation'. same for #steven universe bc its like theyre trying to describe and put feelings into words that kids might not have so they have smth to start with #especially with the metaphors around relationships bc even if it looks unfamiliar as a kid now maybe the hope is for it to be smth you can #look back to. thats why it feels like these shows grew up with me.. instead of saving difficult topics for 'when im ready for it'#as if its preparing me for high school it gave me smth to turn in my hands and revisit again and again as i grow. stories that never #treated u as dumb all along. just someone who could learn and come back to it as many times as u need to. i loved SU for the longest time #but i felt guilty for enjoying it hearing the way ppl bash it. bc i was a kid and thought other ppl understood it better than me and made #feel bad for leaning into the message of paying forward kindness and not questioning why steven didnt punish the diamonds or hold them #accountable. but im rewatching it now and going oh. i still love this show and what it was trying to teach me #yapping #diary

Just gave people 1-2 accessories.#sonic has a neckerchief & pilot goggles bc I liked how it looked for boom & to reference that he ya know. had/has a plane.#I imagine he prolly wears them when he runs mostly bc he doesn't fly so often & it keeps the wind out of his eyes #I only gave tails a tool belt. felt that it leaves him a bit bare but looks overall okay.#I changed rouge to having this suit then realized i was literally just yoinking blaze's drip & felt bad :(#Silver has a gamer hoodie. Older Tuvoks

#the star trek online version of Tuvok looks NOTHING like him to me so I basically just took the uniform #combination of computer graphics + very much underestimating how well Tim Russ would age HEHEHE #I gave Chakotay & Janeway more gray hairs & wrinkles bc it suited them <3 #Tuvok doesn't have many wrinkles or any gray hairs yet but he DOES have bags under his eyes post-voy in my mind #<- stress + isn't sleeping well - both due to being too on edge #bea art tag #I think Chakotay gets gray hairs first (while on Voyager but dyes his hair) then when Janeway gets gray hairs post VOY he stops dying his #when Tuvok starts graying they both tease him a little like 'welcome to the club old friend!'#<- Chakotay also starts calling him 'old friend' at one point post voyager...can't remember when #st voyager #st prodigy #10 am and the Tuvok tag 'today' is empty: I must post

Something something something angst about the mantle of hero identities getting passed around to new people, the duty of other heroes to accept this because it’s important that civilians keep feeling safe, villains being the only ones to truly get to mourn the original heroes and choosing to step out of their villain identities because they liked fighting the person not the hero, etc etc etc

#listen I love sidekicks and titles being passed down and stuff like that #but there’s always an inherent angst to me in like. the loss of identity?#because yeah at some point they just get acknowledged as superhero titles #but at the beginning of all that was a person making a costume and band intrinsic to *them*#*name not band #I doubt anyone starts off being a hero with the thought that they’d pass down their hero stuff to someone else #then eventually there’s a third generation wearing their costume and stuff #because it’s important that their work continues and the whole symbolically the hero continues on in sone form and villainy doesn’t win #but do they even know about all the personal stuff that went into it from the first person who started that mantle #one thing I always think about is like (and I know this is sidekicks but stay with me here) the robin thing from b*tman #now I can’t remember if this was someone’s hc or if it was in one of the runs or whatever #but it goes that: robin comes from a nickname dick’s parents gave him #because they were the fl*ing gr*twins with their little birdie robin #*gr*ysons not twins god damn it #and again I can’t remember if that’s an actual thing #but imagine if it was #and there’s all those robins after him wearing his suit or some variation of it #calling themselves the hero name he gave himself to honor his parents as he tries to find their killer #no other way to think about for me it’s just. loss of identity #anyways #no fandom #heroes #supervillains #superheroes and supervillains in general

The Honor Mode Supermodels are still alive and thriving (despite failing a few checks in the Blighted Village this time around. RIP ogress and bugbear I'm so sorry I wasted all my inspiration trying to get Lump to work for me for free). Accidentally made the wrong dialogue options for Shovel, so no Quasit friendo for us this time around :(

But the good news is that Astarion didn't put everyone into an eternal slumber this time around! So now I just have to... stop being scared and decide if they're going to head down to to see Mama Phase Spider, or go straight into the Gobby Camp.

Decisions decisions.

#i know for a fact the phase spider fight has lair actions because that was mentioned in patch notes at some point #and i'm both extremely scared and also very intrigued #they're still all level 3 though #so i must choose wisely #i changed the ranger boys' faces and hair #partially because i couldn't remember or check what i gave them originally #but i think this suits them a little better #grey's bg3 tag #honor mode supermodels
