Me, making my Dragon Age OCs in my mid to late teens: Hehe, all but one of them are in their twenties or above... They're so mature...
Me, now, aged 23 with a far more developed brain: Why the fuck are these CHILDREN in charge of SAVING THE WORLD?

Mostly just musing to myself here…
I don’t really have a “canon” worldstate, I have several with only minor variations. Even with different characters, I still gravitate to the same decisions in most of them. If I were to have a personal canon, it would be all mages and likely very elfy. I love dwarves, but I can’t be a mage as a dwarf. And, as much as I was excited for Qunari in DAI, I didn’t like the options in the cc and never really got into a Qunari!Quizzy.
However, the narrative seems to heavily favor humans and particularly Cousland in DAO, so I’m working on a “Lore” playthrough before the release of DATV. I was finding it hard to get into; I’ve had it sketched out for over a year, but as I read through The World of Thedas Vol 2, and knowing that The Stolen Throne is next up, I’m getting more excited about it. So, my top 3 worldstates, but by no means is this all of them:
The Lore State - Inspired by Andraste. All human women with “A” names, trying to cater to the often human-centric story and stay as close to BioWare’s canon as possible while still enjoying myself. (I haven’t actually even started this one yet lmao)
Amalthea Cousland > Ayesleigh Hawke > Augusta Trevelyan > Human!Mage!Rook (Likely named Asha or Artemisia, depending on which faction I go with)
Oops all mages! - Very magey and as elfy as I can get it. Best contender for my canon state.
Atisha Surana > Aya Hawke > Feanneth Lavellan > Elf!Mage!Rook
One of Each - Here we have all the races represented. I do love dwarves so much… if there’s ever a possibility of dwarves being able to be mages, I’m gonna lose my fuckin’ mind. Also, prayer circle for better Qunari options in the DATV cc.
Gemma Brosca > Grace Hawke > Asharen Lavellan > Qunari!Rook
Honorable mention to the Dalish worldstate (with Mahariel and Lavellan and a Hawke/Merrill romance) and the Oops All HUMAN Mages worldstate (that’s just self-insert nonsense).

Is draw the squad meme dead? I don’t care! Dragon Age Character Sleepover!
Man this took way longer to finish than I thought it would, but I’m really happy with it. (I love face tattoos but they’re killer!) I think I got everyone’s skin tone right, although Mae and Danni’s don’t look right the longer I look :/

All 18 of my DA OCs, from left to right (sort of):
Keagan Cousland (puppy pants)
Thatcher Lavellan (nug life pants)

Send me prompts!
I am having some major writer’s block, so send me some peer pressure prompts (or questions) for my dragon age ocs! I have too many them listed under the cut with their romances in parentheses. I’m not super comfortable writing smut (a little nsfw is okay but it’ll fade to black after a point), but I’ll probably take a whack at pretty much anything else (fluff, angst, au, etc.)
Origins
Cerynth Tabris (/Alistair)
Theron Mahariel (/Morrigan, /Tamlen)
Erida Brosca (/Leliana)
Nari Surana (/Zevran)
DA2
Gemma Hawke (/Fenris)
Amellia Hawke (/Anders, /Varric)
Inquisition
Viri Lavellan (/Solas, /Cullen)
Isi Lavellan (/Josephine)
Snow Adaar (/Sera)
North Adaar (/Cassandra)
(all of them are women except for Theron and North, who are men)

Been thinking a lot about how the casteless are described in DAO as "the dirty secret staining Orzammar's perfect society"
And I've been thinking about how it probably means that Surfacers aren't really... aware that the casteless exist? Like, if you've never been to Orzammar, what reason would you have to know about this entire underclass of people so socially disadvantaged that they're not allowed to even hold jobs, who are only seen outside of Dust Town as some rich dwarf's weird paramour?
Idk, I've been thinking about the casteless a lot lately as I write more Brosca and Cadash content

Made some cute little picrews of my Wardens using the "Little Guy Maker" (Link)!
Here's a link to the post about my Inquisitors!
I'm planning on making a proper series of posts to serve as reintroductions to my Wardens and Inquisitors, but I couldn't help but share these adorable little versions of them! I've added little descriptions of them below in the Read More!
First up is Redren! He's an androgynous, slim, and, at first glance, non-threatening former circle mage. However, beneath his corpse-pale exterior, Redren is a dyed-in-the-wool blood mage. The product of an unknown father who promised a demon his firstborn in exchange for blood magic, "dark magic" is all Redren has ever known. Taken in by Chasind for several years before getting dragged to the Circle, Redren is an unapologetically violent mage rights activist. That doesn't stop him, however, from getting incredibly attached to those who show him kindness, and his brotherly love for Leliana and borderline obsessive love for Zevran helped him to persist through the Blight.
Next to Redren is Andrea Cousland! Well, Andrea Eleanor Donella Cousland, legally. Andrea grew up the spoiled and beloved daughter of the Cousland family, and her attitude most certainly reflected that at the start of the Blight. Deeply scarred by the loss of her parents, brother, sister-in-law, and especially her beloved nephew, Oren, it took Andrea a long time to accept that she was a Grey Warden. The intense chafing in her thighs didn't help matters. After initially disliking him, Andrea came to care deeply for Alistair, eventually falling into a romance with him. She takes her duty as queen seriously, if only to make sure that Alistair has as much time as he wants to help the Wardens.
Below Redren is Orest Mahariel! Full of so much love he bursts at the seams with it, one would never assume that his vallaslin was that of Falon'Din, friend of the Dead. One of the most celebrated hunters in his Clan, Orest couldn't help but reject it as a teenager, unable to accept that he was expected to be a proud Dalish father while secretly in a relationship with his childhood friend, Tamlen. With Tamlen's death, he was incredibly grateful to join the Wardens, hoping for something to distract him and give him a place to belong. His love for others helped make him friends and allies, and his constant, genuine flirting helped him wiggle his way into Morrigan's bed. His incredible devotion to his shemlen witch-wife not only kept her from leaving with Kieran, but into getting her to accept—and sometimes share in—his free-love attitudes. Especially when it came to his fellow Wardens post-Blight.
Next to Orest is Faelyn Tabris! Faelyn is nothing if not a genuine soul, unable to maintain a lie if her life depended on it. Often coming across as exceptionally dim-witted and air-headed, Faelyn makes up for what she lacks in brains with heart. As a child, she took the slur, rabbit, often hurled at her and turned it into a name for herself: Bunny. Faelyn was incredibly excited to get married, and it was only instinctual self-preservation that allowed her to kill her captors through her sobs. While she wanted to be a wife, not a Warden, Faelyn came to adore every companion she made. Especially Leliana, who she affectionately nicknamed Birdie, in part because she had the voice of a songbird, and in part because she couldn't remember her name for a while.
Below Orest is Hundir Aeducan! Incredibly stand-offish, Hundir wants nothing to do with friendship and sees all of his companions as nothing more than coworkers. At best. Or, at least, he tries to. After his painful separation from his beloved Gorim, he didn't know what to do with now meaningless life. Throwing his whole being into his job as a Warden was all he could think to do. However, Alistair's joking and attempts at friendship, Wynne's kindness and motherly affection, and Oghren's constant friendly teasing about him being the poncy one in love with his manservant of the Aeducans helped him to slowly come out of his metal shell. Once reunited with Gorim in Denerim, Hundir felt like life had meaning again and began to come into his own, even if he'll never stop being, in Alistair's words, a cute, grumpy little dwarf.
Next to Hundir is Gemma Brosca! Dust Town's premiere optimist, Gemma is a diamond in the nug shit, as her name implies. Full of boundless energy and enthusiasm no matter how tough life gets, Gemma was elated to join the Grey Wardens to escape exile or death. Even if she's only eighteen years old, Gemma is far less naïve than she appears. She very quickly made friends with Alistair, and, after Ostagar, the two were permanently joined at the hip. She adores nugs, and was utterly delighted that Leliana saw them as just as cute as she did, even if she still thinks they're delicious.

I love writing for Inktober
I've been developing Gemma Brosca a lot more, especially her relationship with Alistair, and I just finished writing a fic where Faelyn Tabris meets Alistair for the first time. Of course, today I also wrote a fic that explores Alistair and Andrea Cousland's early relationship.
It's now properly canon for my world states
Alistair had a crush on every female Warden of mine at the start
Except for the one that he ended up marrying

An ABGInk 2024 Fanfiction Announcement!
Hello, folks! I’d like to announce that, yes, I’m going to be doing Inktober again! After five long years! I’m using the official Inktober prompt list, which I had been hesitant about, but I think I’ve got a solid bunch of pieces planned and a bunch already finished. Throughout the month, I’ll have works from all three Dragon Age games, and works on a wide array of my Wardens and Inquisitors.
Beneath the Read More, I’ve attached a list of the prompts and a small summary of what the fic is going to be about. I would love it if you gave it a read to see if anything sounds interesting! My goal is to get everything posted to Archive of Our Own on their assigned days with a tumblr post that links to the AO3 version. I’ll probably also be reblogging things the next morning in case anyone missed it the evening before! I really hope that you all enjoy my work. Likes and comments and reblogs mean the world to me!
Here are some links to a post about my Wardens and my Inquisitors!
Day 1: Backpack
At the start of her journey with Alistair and Morrigan, Gemma Brosca is forced to learn how big things like backpacks are in the human world. It is unfair. And adorable.
Day 2: Discover
Still reeling from the events of her botched wedding, Faelyn Tabris discovers what the world beyond the Alienage is like.
Day 3: Boots
Zevran doesn’t understand how Redren is so content to live his life barefoot. Redren doesn’t understand why Zevran really wants a pair of Antivan leather boots.
Day 4: Exotic
The mage-Warden, Redren, is a strange, foreign breed. Zevran can’t get a good read on him. He hopes things about the pale, exotic Warden will make sense in time.
Day 5: Binoculars
Cassandra doesn’t understand the strange, foreign words that Ozol Adaar and the Iron Bull use. The Inquisitor is supposed to be the Herald of Andraste, and all this Qunlat and Qunari technology like “binoculars” should be unacceptable.
Day 6: Trek
The Iron Bull is surprised at how capable the soft-stomached Inquisitor, Ademamar Cadash, is at going on long hikes. Ade does his best to explain his childhood of the treks from home to home without giving away too much about the reality of the casteless.
Day 7: Passport
On their way to Kirkwall, Anders and Justice try to comprehend what it means to be leaving Amaranthine with the Commander’s blessing and a forged passport. Homesickness is a new and uncomfortable feeling.
Day 8: Hike
Andrea Cousland is the Arl’s daughter. She’s not supposed to be hiking around the muddy Ferelden countryside like a common soldier. On their way to Orzammar, Alistair asks one too many questions.
Day 9: Sun
Duncan has saved Gemma Brosca from a death sentence, and is escorting her to the surface. He may have forgotten to warn the poor girl about the sun.
Day 10: Nomadic
Of course the Vint would have some stupid questions about the difference between Skyhold and the nomadic lifestyle the Dalish lead. Aelon Lavellan does his best to answer him while also trying to focus on helping Blackwall ready the stables.
Day 11: Snacks
Justice does not approve of how Anders is neglecting the nutritional requirements of their shared body. The Commander and Alistair always told the Wardens that they needed three square meals and snacks every day. He needs this to be fixed.
Day 12: Remote
As Orest Mahariel and Morrigan look for the best place for her to give birth, they talk about how they’re going to raise their baby. Even if the child will look human, Orest doesn’t want to deny the child a chance to grow up with a connection to elven culture.
Day 13: Horizon
At Ostagar, Hundir Aeducan finally gets a moment to stop and stare at the horizon. The Surface is seemingly an infinite sprawl of greenery. It’s a struggle not to be amazed.
Day 14: Roam
Alistair really wants to get to know his fellow Warden. Redren wishes to remain a mystery. After a bit of pestering, Alistair gets the mage to talk about his life roaming the Wilds after escaping from the Circle.
Day 15: Guidebook
Kiora Trevelyan is, on the surface, a very by-the-book Circle mage. After the rebellion, however, she struggles to adjust. Trying to lead the Inquisition without a guidebook is a struggle, and Sera isn’t exactly the most sympathetic friend.
Day 16: Grungy
Before they leave Lothering, Leliana insists that Gemma Brosca take advantage of the modest baths in the Chantry. She learns, quickly, that the grungy little girl has never had the privilege of taking a proper bath before.
Day 17: Journal
While in the Brecilian forest, the party stumbles upon a small, abandoned camp. Redren recognizes it as one of his own, and has to scramble to hide the journal that was left behind when he was made into a Warden.
Day 18: Drive
After returning to Orzammar, crowning his brother, and being spat back out, Hundir Aeducan is driven to the brink of madness. And cutting off his beard.
Day 19: Ridge
Still relatively new to the group, Zevran accepts Redren’s offer to join him in his tent. For just a plain massage. Zevran uses his time to study the ridges of the mage’s pale, thin form and wonder at what’s below the surface.
Day 20: Uncharted
Still reeling from their joining, Anders and Justice try to navigate the uncharted waters of being two people in one body. There's no going back. But is there even a desire to?
Day 21: Bronto
Gemma Brosca grew up in Dust Town. As a result, her vocabulary is a little different from a Surfacer’s. To distract Alistair from his woes over Eamon’s illness, Gemma teaches him some dwarven slang.
Day 22: Camp
Sticking to his plan to keep dressing like a woman after being caught in the Conclave in his feminine attire sounded like a great idea at the time. Now, stuck out in a camp in the middle of the woods, Mallory Trevelyan is realizing just how tough it’s going to be.
Day 23: Rust
Joining the Wardens was a no-brainer for Gemma Brosca. Her life was one massive perk, and so was getting her first set of weapons that didn’t have any rust on them.
Day 24: Expedition
Most of his life, Hundir Aeducan wasn’t afraid of the dark. He was a dwarf, after all. But now, forced to go on an expedition into the Deep Roads to find a probably-dead Paragon, he’s forced to confront the fact that he’s not as put-together as he pretends to be.
Day 25: Scarecrow
There are rabbits getting into the small garden in the Skyhold courtyard. This is unacceptable. Thom Rainier, still living under the alias of the Warden Blackwall, watches as the Inquisitor, Aelon Lavellan, rigs up a scarecrow full of gears and runes.
Day 26: Painting
Mallory Trevelyan gets his official portrait painted as the Inquisitor Mallie. While the painting is undeniably beautiful, it doesn’t look like him. He reflects back on an old portrait probably hanging in a dark corner of Trevelyan castle, and wonders if he’ll ever see his real self on the canvas.
Day 27: Road
When the Anchor acts up in the Inquisitor’s sleep, Thom Rainier is pulled into one of Mallory Trevelyan’s dreams. He encounters a man he hardly recognizes in a tavern in Markham, on the road away from Ostwick and toward anywhere else.
Day 28: Jumbo
Ozol Adaar had gotten used to a select few things in the human settlement of Hercinia after fleeing the Qun. Now, stuck in Haven, he’s dealing with what it means for a jumbo-sized Inquisitor to come, quite literally, face to face with human doorways.
Day 29: Navigator
Aelon Lavellan is a Dalish elf, yes, but that doesn’t mean that he’s a natural-born navigator. When he and a group of non-elves get lost in the woods on an outing, he’s forced to clarify some unfortunate assumptions.
Day 30: Viol
When Maryden the tavern bard brings in another bard to play when she’s on break, Mallory Trevelyan is delighted to see that the man plays the viol. Iron Bull watches on as the Inquisitor Mallie draws upon some old lessons from her childhood she’s loathe to elaborate on.
Day 31: Landmark
Back in the Brecilian forest, Orest Mahariel tells his new friends about the places he remembers from his childhood. Some landmarks bring back good memories, some bad, and yet they all seem to be tainted by a sadness he can’t bring himself to speak about.

—How Birthdays Usually Went—
Pairing: Platonic Alistair & Female Brosca
Pairing Type: M&F
Words: 634
Warnings: Best Friend Fluff, Just a Lot of Platonic Love, Mild References to Alcoholism, Some Casteless Dwarf Lore I Made Up
She woke up next to Alistair again. It was nice, really, to be so close with someone without that terrifying thing called love or lust hovering over her.
"Hey," Alistair grumbled, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "It's..." He instantly sat up, smiling. "Ooh, morning, birthday girl!"
Gemma groaned, laughing, and rolled out of the bed and onto the floor. "Don't!"
Alistair stumbled out of bed, jumping about the corner of the room as he pulled on his non-sleeping trousers. "High alert! Massive emergency!" He laughed, pulling on his shirt. "Looks like we have a strange twenty-year-old in Vigil's Keep!"
"Alistair!"
"She's acting like the Commander, but last I checked, the Commander was a baby!"
"Alistair!" Gemma grabbed his leg from the floor.
"Ah! The impostor! She's got me!"
"Stone's sake!" Gemma laughed. "You ass!"
"What in the Maker's name are you two doing?" Nathaniel pushed open the door and raised an eyebrow at them.
"I'm the Commander!"
"I'm aware."
"No, I-!" She groaned, her tired throat sore from laughing so early in the morning. "He's being an ass."
"Again?" Nathaniel chuckled. "Colour me surprised."
"Wow, such love from my comrades," Alistair said, shaking his head. He shook the leg that Gemma was still attached to. "Someone replaced our itty bitty baby-commander with some random twenty-year-old last night."
"Oh?" Nathaniel smiled in that sweet, sarcastic way he always seemed to. "Well, happy birthday, then, Commander Brosca."
"Thanks," Gemma smiled, rolling onto her back to better look up at the human. "You're going to tell everyone else, aren't you?"
"Would you rather it be him?" He asked, nodding his head toward Alistair.
"Nope!" She grinned.
"Hey!"
"Your shirt's on backwards."
Alistair looked down at himself and sighed bashfully. "In my defense, I was rushing." He rolled his eyes at her snickering. "And hey, you're still in your bedclothes."
"Fair, fair."
• • ♡ • •
Gemma refused to make a big deal about her birthday like always. To her, every Surfacer acted like a noble, caring about their own personal days of creation.
She didn't tell anybody that she wasn't even sure if the fifth of Harvestmere was the day she was born. All she knew was that she got her brand that day, and it was so close to the beginning of the Day Cycle that she was just as likely to have been born on the fourth.
But everyone was excited for her, so she didn't mention anything to damper their moods. Sigrun was the only one who understood why she just smiled and rolled her eyes at every happy birthday! but she didn't say anything.
She ended up a little drunk at the end of the day, the world clouded pleasantly and her insides warm and squishy. She didn't drink very much—mother had drank enough for the both of them—but she didn't turn down a drink with her company.
"You're my favorite," Alistair whispered loudly, looking up at her from the floor. She smiled at the reversal of their usual positions. "You." He pointed up at her, grinning, his hand wavering. "You are... so good."
She sat down on the floor next to him. "You're so drunk."
He hummed, rolling over on his side. "Oh, yeah, definitely." His bright brown eyes shone with the sort of affection only someone who unreservedly calls another being their best friend can. "Am I your favorite, too?"
She nodded, smiling. "Don't tell the other Wardens, though."
He nodded, laughing softly. "Got it, Commander Dwarf-Friend."
She ruffled his hair. "You should get to bed, Human-y-Friend."
"Eventually."
This was how birthdays usually went after the Blight ended. Slightly subdued celebration, friends, getting a little drunk, and then going to bed feeling a little more loved than before.
She wasn't going to complain.

💞 for your warden gang
Thank you so much for the ask! Sorry this took such a while!
((From this post!))
Redren doesn’t do well in creating friend groups. Or in creating friends at all. He tries, and he tries, and he tries, but he’s awful at making people stick around. He’s too secretive and defensive and argumentative to make people want to be friends with him. But, when someone actually manages to stick it out and get to know him past his harsh exterior, he’s willing to get super close with them. When he’s friends with someone, he’s very intimate with them, and his friend groups usually end up being one of casual touches and forehead-kisses and bed-sharing.
Redren’s a team Mom. He won’t ever admit to it, and hates being called a “mother hen”, but there’s no denying it. He’s always making sure everyone is safe and well-fed and content. He’s always willing to treat everyone under his care like his children, even if he won’t admit he’s doing it. He’ll call you “sweetheart” and brush your hair for you, smiling and shaking his head the whole time because it’s a wonder how someone has so many knots!
Andrea doesn’t do “friends”. At least not willingly. She’d rather have allies and colleagues as opposed to friends. She doesn’t like getting personal with people, because then there’s a chance they’ll see her flaws. But, when she does make friends, they’re few and far between, but genuine. She’s a loyal person to people she cares about, and that loyalty spreads among her friends. Her friends end up becoming family, and help fill the empty space left by Howe.
Andrea’s a team Big Sister. She can be harsh and she can be uptight, but every bit of criticism and push is all for the sake of helping. She would never purposefully tear someone she cares about down, and criticism is always intended as constructive, even if she sounds dismissive. She’ll braid your hair and pick out your outfits because she wants you to look and feel your best, even if she says it’s because she doesn’t want you making her look bad by proximity.
Orest is a friend-magnet. He’s always so upbeat and extroverted, he attracts people by simply being in the same room as them. However, his group of actual friends is usually smaller, consisting of close-knit people who he actually lets see his less-than-great self. People who can deal with his forgetfulness, impulsivity, hyperactivity, and random bouts of self-doubt end up being held onto tight, and he’s always a great person to have around when you’re upset. He’s loyal to a fault, and loves everyone with his whole heart.
Orest’s a goddamn team Dad. Sure, he sleeps around within his friend group, but he’s still so damn dad-like. Even before he had Kieran, he was always acting like everyone’s fun dad—takes you out hunting, prodding maybe a little too much if he finds out you have a crush, making sure your self-confidence is as high as it can be, and comforting you when you’re upset. He may not be the best at that last one, but he’ll be damned if he doesn’t let you at least cry on his shoulder before offering you a drink. Also, if he was able, he’d definitely have a wallet with like eight folding picture slots to show off his friends to people he just met.
Faelyn sees every new person as a potential friend. She’s always looking for new people to like, always welcoming people with open arms. Of course, this leads to many a cold shoulder or outright rejection from less-than-nice people, but those that do welcome Faelyn’s offers of love are never disappointed. Of course, she can come off as naive and not all that bright, but she’s the most genuine person they’ll ever meet. She’s kind and compassionate and she’s always willing to talk and hug the sad out. Her friend groups always end up being happy little families, and she’s ever so excited to bring people together.
Faelyn’s a team Optimist. She’s always looking on the bright side of things, always trying to see the good in every person and every situation. She’s always the one to point out that things aren’t as bad as they could be, and to look on the bright side of things. Faelyn could be sitting behind literal bars and still manage to smile and reassure others that it’ll be alright, even if she isn’t totally convinced of it herself.
Hundir is almost physically incapable of making friends. He doesn’t like people talking to him, touching him, trying to get to know him, or disagreeing with him. He’s incredibly hard to get to know, and friend groups involving him are basically nonexistent. But, if someone does end up breaking through his shell, they’ll earn themselves a very loyal man, willing to do anything but admit he likes you. Sure, he’ll gift you things he knows you’ll like, but he’ll claim he just needed to get rid of it. He may push people away far more than he draws them in, but when you’re in, you’ll earn a tight little squad that rallies around the herculean task of making him smile.
Hundir’s always doing his best to be the team Leader. He really, really does try his hardest to keep people on task and in line, but in the world of tall people, it’s hard to command respect from four and a half feet off the ground. Sure, he may have a detailed plan on how to go about every task, but managing the Surfacers is like trying to herd nugs. Just… better to accept the fact that he’s less of a leader and more of a man just Trying His Best.
Gemma picks her friends wisely and keeps them close. She knows that it’s hard to find good friends in rough places, and when she finds someone good, she holds on tight. Gemma hasn’t had friends throughout most of her life simply due to factors beyond her control—her mother scared other children away when she was younger, she got involved with the Carta as a young teenager, and she knew not only how to fight but was willing to. But, as she got to the Surface and allowed herself to fully be the person she was behind the thug, she cultivated friends quickly. Her bubbly and upbeat personality was simply fun to be around, and her sense of loyalty wasn’t hard to reciprocate. She’ll take care of you and she only hopes you’ll take care of her, too.
Gemma’s always the team Little Sister. Not only is she an actual younger sibling, but she’s got that follow-and-look-up-to type of energy. Most people on the Surface, being taller than her by quite a bit, have to physically look down at her to talk, and that usually leads to them thinking of her as a child. Of course, only being eighteen years old doesn’t help, either. But, really, she doesn’t mind being a little sister. She loves being a little sister, and especially having older siblings. Hair-ruffles and big hugs are her favorite part.

Oh life advice? Man I need that! Wardens what's your wisdom?
Oh! I doubt they’ll help much, but here are my babies’ pieces of advice!
((From this post!))
I actually did a tag meme similar to this a while back, including both my Wardens and Inquisitors! I’ll link to it here! Those are just little words of wisdom, however, so they’re a lot shorter than these!
Redren: If you’re true to yourself, and broadcast who you are to the world, people will hate the authentic you, as opposed to liking a false version of yourself. Knowing who hates you for everything you are helps keep your enemies list comprehensive, if long. Also, fuck the Templars and stand with Anders.
Andrea: Don’t trust people with a resting smile. Especially of they’re noble. They’re most definitely faking it to earn your trust. Also, as a general rule of thumb, don’t trust nobles. They’re certainly just looking to take advantage of you for personal gain. Believe me, I know how they work.
Orest: If you spend too much time lingering on all your awful memories, you won’t be able to focus on making new, happy memories. It’s hard, but it’s worth it, really. Also, if something makes you happy, do it! As long as you have your partner’s consent, of course!
Faelyn: You shouldn’t rush life, even if you really want something to happen to happen really soon. Especially love! Sure, it can feel like forever when you’re waiting, but it’ll eventually find you! You just have to be a little patient. Also, remember that that girls can like you, too. Not just boys. That’s an important one!
Hundir: Don’t expect life to do a damn thing for you. It won’t. You can’t just wait around and hope something good will happen. It won’t. And if you’re not honest with yourself about your misery, it’ll only get worse.
Gemma: Honestly, friends are easier to come by than you might think. It’s all a matter of looking for ‘em. If you don’t bother looking, life’s gonna be hard and boring. Just, don’t try too hard and look like an idiot.

🐇 What animal would they say best represents them? (For all your kids 😃)
This was a super fun one to work on! Thanks so much for asking!
Okay listen, I know this took a while lol I’ve been pretty busy…! It doesn’t help that I spend forever working on asks, anyway! I just love to ramble! But, after twenty-two days of intermixed not-working and oh-holy-shit-I-need-to-finish-that-ask, it is done! Fourteen individual dorks and their animals!
I actually have my Wardens’ and Inquisitors’ “Spirit Animals” on their Ref pages (here for Wardens and here for Inquisitors!)
((From this post!))
I am putting this under a “Read More” link because, well, you’ll see why…
Redren, Fallow Deer I chose the Fallow Deer for Redren not only because it ties into his childhood and the deer of his home village, but because of the wildness that the Deer represent. Contrary to most interpretations, the gentleness of the Deer isn’t as tied into him as other aspects, namely the skittishness, wildness, and spirituality. The redness of the Fallow Deer ties into both his long orange hair and his blood magic, as well as his concerningly fiery temper. Redren’s personality and how it relates to the Deer is surprisingly spot-on, and concerning the antlers, sure, just like Redren, they can be a little intimidating and used in a fight, but, also similar to Redren, they can break if put under too much pressure…
Andrea, French Poodle I decided to go with the Poodle because, like, come on. Not only are they associated with vanity and beauty, but most people see them as dainty, feeble, and cowardly. These views, while widespread, are more misconceptions than anything. Poodles are an incredibly intelligent breed of dog, underestimated and capable of far more than most believe at first glance. Andrea, even though she most certainly doesn’t look like a warrior, is a political genius and a loyal, loyal bitch.
Orest, Coyote It took me a long time to settle on the Coyote for Orest. The Coyote is usually thought of to be cunning and wicked, but the more I looked into it, the more I liked pairing Orest with the Coyote. Coyotes are associated with traits such as honesty and a captivating personality, of truth and finding joy in the simple things in life. The Coyote’s laugh is loud and full of life, and nobody can claim that Orest’s is any different. The association between the Coyote and a lot of Native American cultures was also a large determining factor, as the Dalish are so heavily coded as Native Americans and Orest’s character design is unquestionably Native-based.
Faelyn, Lop-Eared Rabbit I love Faelyn’s connection with bunnies, and so does she. She loves rabbits, especially the lop-eared ones. Faelyn is a little jumpy, spontaneous, and certainly a positive force to have in your life. She also fits into the “fertile” aspect of the Rabbit’s symbolism, as she’s obsessed with weddings and babies and happy little domestic lives. She’s small and her ears flop a little and her front teeth are a little overgrown, but she likes her features. She’s grown into the slur that people have always called her, turning “rabbit” into “Bunny”. Also, she’ll flop over onto her back and let you kiss her if she likes you enough.
Hundir, Ram Well, the Ram fit really well for Hundir. The Ram symbolizes power, force, drive, energy, virility, protection, and fearlessness, and Hundir’s got all of those except, well, the fearlessness one. He’s a little… sheepish. God, I’ll show myself out for that one. I love the parallels between the two, especially since Hundir’s an Aires. He really fits his horoscope. He’s most comfortable when in charge, but not in the spotlight, and would prefer to simply bash at things instead of trying to find peaceful alternative options.
Gemma, Badger She’s such a Hufflepuff, I swear. Not only is she very closely tied to the earth—being an Orzammar dwarf and all—but she’s adorable and could very easily rip a man’s throat out. She’s very confident in her own strength, even if she has moments of doubt. She’s loyal to those close to her, and willing to defend both them and herself. Coming from a world of kill-or-be-killed, both her and the Badger are very in-the-moment, constantly alert and two steps ahead of danger. But, as fierce as she may be, she’s still ever so fluffy and cute.
Mallory, Peacock I think the Peacock fits Mallory quite well. Despite the fact that fics I write containing him usually veer negative and a more than a little angsty, he’s really a fun, excitable person at heart, who wants nothing more than to express himself. Peacocks are associated with traits like freedom, self-expression, and attraction, and Mallory certainly doesn’t shy away from those. Peacocks are also closely tied to the myth of the Phoenix, and nothing says Mallory Trevelyan more than rising from the ashes of a depressed, disastrous, noble life and reinventing oneself as a loud, bubbly, makeup-clad sex worker.
Kiora, Sloth I was originally going to pair Kiora up with a cat because, well, of course, but as I looked more into it, she didn’t fit most typical descriptions. She wasn’t a cunning, shady, and mysterious kind of person. The Sloth fit her perfectly. Physically slow and relaxed, people tied to the Sloth are seen as diplomatic and able to adjust to changes with little fuss, with personalities that are kind and giving. Kiora’s patient to a fault, and passive to her own detriment. However, she moves, slow and steady, toward her goals, quietly and with so little show that people don’t notice until she’s already long gone.
Aelon, Lizard It was really hard to find an animal I best associated with Aelon. Most of the time, “spirit animals” symbolize virtues, and, as good as he can be, Aelon’s unfortunate amount of anxiety and anger and a million other things outweigh most of the common traits mentioned. However, I did find the Lizard to be a good match. Sure, he’s not great at “going with the flow”, but he is decent at handling things life throws at him, albeit with very little grace. He is willing to replace things from his old life with new things, and can face things head on, but would rather dart away to his safe space. He’s quick to run away, and getting a hold of him (both emotionally and physically) is incredibly difficult. And, well, he’s also very small and very cute despite being an angry little fella who would very much so like to be put down.
Ashavise, Fox It wasn’t hard to figure out Ashavise’s connection to the Fox. She’s cunning and shifty, always analyzing others and figuring the best plan of attack. She’s untrustworthy and always ready to run, but that doesn’t mean she’s in any way a coward—she just knows when not to waste her energy fighting. Of course, she isn’t afraid to make a fuss over something, and she’ll nip at people’s heels to get what she wants. However, she’s also very good at lying in wait, spending ages in anticipation for someone to let their guard down before she pounces. She’s not above lying and cheating at all to get what she wants. But, despite her more unsavory traits, she’s a fiercely protective woman who will do anything for her kits—whether they be dead or only partly dead.
Ademamar, Draft Horse It may be ironic, but Ade’s got a lot of similarities to the Draft Horse. Bulky and dense in more ways than one, Ademamar is more like the Horse than other animals reflective of his actual physique. The Horse is symbolic of freedom and power, but also limited by perceived obstacles. Just a shadow in the road can have him skittish and leave him unable to cross over it, even if the obstacle would be nonexistent for others. He may be able to pull an immense amount of weight and he may have the stamina to do it for a very long time, but once he falls, he falls hard, and finds it incredibly difficult to get back up. But, much like the Horse, all it takes for him to get back up is some food and a loving companion.
Harta, Cocker Spaniel She’s small, loyal, excitable, and a bundle of curly, curly hair, but Harta can be feisty and stubborn, too. An intelligent young woman, Harta’s eager to please and possessive over what’s hers. She’s small and full of energy, and her looks can be very deceiving. She can put on a sweet personality to match her friendly outer appearance, but she’s still got sharp teeth she can bring out at any moment. Not to mention, she’s part of quite the sizable litter of siblings…
Ozol, Frog First off, like with Ade, I recognize the irony of pairing up a character with an animal that is so wildly different from them size-wise. But pairing Ozol with the Frog made perfect sense. the Frog is a symbol of rebirth, renewal, opportunity, and healing. For someone who escape the oppressive Qun regime, Ozol was lucky to be someone blessed with the ability to not only get out, but to heal and grow from the experience, emerging as a better version of himself. Frogs are the first indicators of spring, singing out happily at a new, warm, and fertile world. Ozol counts his blessings every day, knowing that he was one of the lucky ones. He’s a good companion for long, troubling journeys, and prides himself on being a reliable guide, both along a trail and in life.
Semiha, White-Tailed Doe Having Semiha Adaar share a very similar animal to Redren is—if one knows how wildly different the characters are—strange, to say the least. Much like the Deer, at a distance, Semiha is tall and beautiful, she wields her magic beautifully and with immense skill. But, once you get close to her, she stumbles over her own two feet, drops her weapons accidentally, and fumbles over her words when faced with a pretty girl. But, even though she may be a little skittish at times, and tends to wish she could flee scary situations with all the grace of a startled, clumsy forest creature, she can stand tall and proud when the situation arises.

Shoutout to @red-wardens for finding the cutest dollmaker ever and inspiring me to make all of my adorable babies in it
There wasn’t a grey skintone option for my qunari Inquisitors, so I used what their skin would look like if they had more “human” palettes ^^

Gemma?
“Send me an OC and I’ll give you the pros and cons of dating them”
((From this post!))
Oh! Gemma’s certainly an interesting pick! She wouldn’t ever really date anyone, but for the sake of headcanon, let’s do it! And really, this could go for simply being friends with her, too!
Pros of dating Gemma Brosca:
1. She’s a very optimistic and upbeat person, and does try her hardest to not only stay optimistic, but actively seek out good solutions to problems!
2. She won’t judge your body at all, as she sees personality before anything else
3. She’s super strong and gives great hugs, even if it means wrapping her arms around your waist!
4. She gets that sometimes, you can’t keep up with her energy, and that maybe staying in and doing something quiet can be best for the both of you.
5. She’s quite masculine, so she enjoys a lot of high-energy, usually destructive, generally unhygienic male things, but she isn’t opposed to having her hair done or doing typically girly things like shopping and makeup if it makes you happy. She’s willing to try nearly everything at least once.
Cons of dating Gemma Brosca:
1. She can be really stubborn and unwilling to go along with something she doesn’t like, and no amount of begging will help you convince her
2. When she doesn’t shave, her cheeks get really scratchy and hugs are not very advised…
3. She can’t cook, and she isn’t very organized. Not the ideal person to live with, really.
4. Gemma, on her off days, can have a temper shorter than her height. She might not yell at you directly, but you’ll have to patch up another dwarven fist-sized hole in the wall.
5. She sheds like a mabari, so hairbrushes and bathroom drains are all sure to be full of thick brown hair. She might help you clean, but she sure won’t be happy about it.

My OCs as John Mulaney Quotes Because Why Not
Wardens
Redren: Hey, do you want me to kill that guy for you? Because it sounds like he totally sucks and I will totally kill that guy for you.
Andrea: I’ll keep all my emotions right here and then one day I’ll die.
Orest: My wife is a bitch and I like her so much.
Faelyn: Why do people shush animals? They’ve never spoken!
Hundir: l am so horny and angry all the time and I have no outlet.
Gemma: I have had a very long day, I am very small, and I have no money, so you can imagine the stress I’m under.
Inquisitors
Mallory: You remember being 12, when, you're like, “No one look at me or I'll kill myself.”
Kiora: It is 100% easier not to do things than to do them, and so much fun not to do them-- especially when you were supposed to do them. In terms of instant relief, cancelling plans is like heroin.
Aelon: When I’m walking down the street, no ones ever like, ‘Hey look at that man.’ I think they’re just like, ‘Woah! That tall child looks terrible! Get some rest tall child! You can’t keep burning the candle at both ends!’
Ashavise: They’d say, ‘What do you think you’re doing?’, but that just meant ‘stop’.
Ademamar: I look back on being seventeen and think, ‘oh god, how did I not die?’
Harta: To me, “Person of Interest” is almost too flattering. Like, if the police were to pound on my door and go, ‘A man has been murdered in your building and you are a person of interest’ I'd be like, ‘Moi? Oh do go on. Fresh.’
Ozol: My vibe is more like, ‘Hey, you could pour soup in my lap and I’ll probably apologize to you.’
Semiha: I will pepper in the fact that I am gay.
