This is part of a larger angsty AU, but I've been plagued by one specific scene. Dafan Wen fem!WWX (for reasons) who was good!Wen Xu's partner; A-Yuan is their son. Sunshot happens with a rebellion within the Wens, for which WWX was a leader. WRH killed WX for it. Post-war, the camps etc happen, and WWX is a fugitive. A-Yuan was captured, and WWX tracks him to a camp, desperately searching on a stormy night. Essentially, it's the WQ looking for WN scene but with YLLZ mom WWX and baby A-Yuan.
Fun idea. I can see it starting with an arranged marriage between WWX and WX. It would be fun to watch WWX lose her family over and over :)

This was originally on a Discord server, so it gets a bit disconnected/rambly.
Fem!NHS (or omega, or carrier, I don't really care tbh I just want a configuration where NHS can give birth) marrying Lan Xichen after NMJ's death would be such angst fuel though.
Like, marrying him (because obviously her little Headshaker lady brain can't handle sect leadership), having kids with him (and she's a devoted mother, there's no question of that, she and her kids adore each other), aaaaand it turns out she drank either plain water or tea she procured and brewed herself, and always seemed to get bored/restless when LXC or JGY played guqin, because she did not entirely trust them not to poison her.
She calculated that her odds of survival were higher if she was the mother of LXC's kids, especially if she and her kids were so close that we're talking visceral, irreparable scarring for the kids if she's harmed/killed, and was higher still when she was literally pregnant (and thus by her logic, killing her = directly killing one of LXC's kids).
It takes a while but LXC works out that - at the start of their marriage at least, though not after a few years - NHS was fully prepared to use their kids' wellbeing as a hostage to keep herself alive. LXC and JGY might be willing to kill her like they did her brother, but she figured they'd think twice if it might harm LXC's kids.
Imagine LXC's despair when he finds out. He's always sorta known she had a few things she kept quiet, but tbh he figured it was like. The normal sort of cageyness you'd develop with a somewhat overprotective, very forceful older brother raising you. Or shyness, or the years of being seen as silly and dumb making her wary and insecure.
He did not expect anything on this scale. This scale of tying herself to LXC as tightly as possible in hopes that he and JGY would hesitate to strike at her. The destruction to his soul realising that his own wife married and had children with him, while acknowledging that he may have helped murder her brother and ruin her life, thought she was an insipid little butterfly of a woman, and doing everything she possibly can to keep from being murdered too. Because NHS was sure about JGY, not about LXC, and she needed to monitor him. She didn't trust that he won't harm her, but he hopefully would at least hesitate to harm his own kids by harming her, so she lived their whole married life prepared to basically hold a knife at their kids' psyches for her own life.
Oh and NHS in Guanyin Temple screaming for her laogong, gambling that there's been just, just enough to tip the scales of LXC's reaction in her favour. She was half-right in predicting LXC's reaction.
Thing is, she assumed he put Liebing through JGY entirely in self-defence. He didn't. He heard her scream, knew she was behind him and much weaker, and assumed JGY had tried to go after her. Part of him still thought JGY wouldn't hurt him. But what better hostage than a weak, female cultivator, wife of a sect leader and mother of his heirs?
Honestly NHS didn't even fully believe LXC ever actually cared for her, not until Guanyin. She thought he saw her as a convenient (well, at least politically), harmless cash cow, for the making and raising of acceptable enough heirs. A submissive wife to bring a big inheritance, make heirs, and take care of most of their raising. She didn't dare believe she was anything more than that to him.
The sad thing is, she liked LXC. She didn't really want to do this, he was still the Huan-gege who played dolls with her and was always nice to her. But if she let her guard down, there was a very real risk of missing a warning sign. Too blinded by Huan-gege, as her brother was blinded by A-Huan and A-Yao. No. She couldn't risk that.
LXC and NHS have two sons and a daughter - LXC and most of the Lan elders are delighted - and they're halfway through working on #4 (this was deliberate) at the time of Guanyin. And like, LXC is such a good dad. He's attentive, he's endlessly patient, he knows how to break things down in child-appropriate ways as they get older, encourages their curiosity, he has like that many years of experience with LWJ as a baby (RIP LWJ was his brother's parenting guinea pig). It makes NHS want to love him and let her guard down. Of course, because of the thoroughly fucked up situation, that realistically could mean a painful death.
On baby #4 and Guanyin: NHS convinces LXC to have another baby with her like, right around the same time she gives the summoning ritual to MXY, and is at least a couple of months along by the time MXY does the summoning ritual.
This isn't a fit of baby fever. Not entirely. NHS did genuinely want another kid, but the timing was specifically to ensure she'd likely still be pregnant with LXC's kid - and thus less likely to be murdered by either LXC or JGY - when her grand revenge plan finally comes to a head. Can't kill her, that'll kill LXC's kid, and she's calculated the odds and found it safer to assume that that's all JGY and possibly LXC care about.
LXC gets to be excited and soft for each new baby and a doting father anddddddd then gets to find out the kids were partially part of NHS's insurance against getting murdered by him or A-Yao.
And JGY gets to hold the babies! He's their shushu! He sat with LXC every time NHS gave birth (often brewing tea for him) and was often one of the first people to hold each baby. He's personally held and cuddled all of them. He gave them little rattle drums and toys to gum on. (NHS banned the guqin from being played anywhere near her while she was giving birth; she claimed the sound made her extra cranky but in reality she feared either of them inducing a complication, eg fucking with the blood clotting and making her bleed out).
JGY is involved in raising them! He's dangling toys for them and casually running background checks on tutors and nurses - nothing but the best for LXC's kids - and their mother is watching him like a hawk because he murdered her brother and doesn't trust him not to kill or poison her or her kids too.
Eventually LXC works out that the end result of NHS's "make sure killing me would irreparably scar the kids and outright kill one if I'm pregnant" contingency plan was to ensure that she'd end up as another Madam Lan in the gentian house. That was her good ending if LXC was actually complicit in the murder of her brother and a) she brought him down but his clan Took Offence b) she failed to bring him down and he took offence. Her good ending is a repetition of a lot of the Lan brothers' trauma, and she was fully prepared that LXC or his clan would do that to her.
LXC wonders what he did so wrong to make his own wife believe that, despite about a decade of marriage, and then - ah yes, he trusted A-Yao, against even A-Jue's suspicions. And it got Nie Mingjue killed.
Oh, and when NHS finds out about Jin Rusong - NHS knew JGY had sunk low, but hadn't imagined that low. She knows he won't hurt LXC. What she's been gambling on is that LXC won't hurt his own kids and that JGY won't hurt LXC, which extends to LXC's kids. But if JGY has done this... all bets are off. She can't really 100% trust that LXC won't be willing to indirectly kill his own kid by killing her. She's gambling that he'll be less willing and that's it. She's fully prepared that if everything goes to hell she will die.
I won't lie- I've seen so many Female NHS aus and fics and I love them all to the point that I think he should have been female in the original story. MXTX should have given us at least one surviving female main character!
Honestly this idea is incredible and I love it.
I'm also thinking about the aftermath. Like Lan Xichen going into seclusion and Nie Huaisang coming to see him. She doesn't go inside and just speaks to him through the door. Tells him that shes going back to the Unclean Realm and taking the kids with her. "I wont have my children here constantly asking why you aren't around and when you are coming back. Write to me when you decide to rejoin the world. Or if you decide you can no longer bare to be in this marriage. I'll send word when the baby is born."
Lan Xichen continues to spiral in seclusion because he's turning out like his father and ignoring his kids, but he doesn't want them to see him like this and maybe they would be better without him. His wife would definitely be better without him. She would still have a living brother if not for him. It's not a surprise that she has chosen to return to her old home and sect now that her revenge is finished.
