Kindness to kids is not inherently punk but it's an essential part of it because 1.How else do you think they get radicalized and how they're treated by adult punks who they spend time with regularly? and 2.Child abuse can be part of a fascism by grooming kids in it's ideology, including standard ones like antiblackness, and children face the brunt of fascism more than any adult soldier does.Maybe you all should make less posts about fandom not being activism and experience curation and more on how kids can keep themselves safe irl and online and learn about black and queer revolutionaries instead only dead white guys and join actual movements you can

i guess it's scary to me when white leftists say that the punk scene is the scene where you wanna go if you're trans or a person of color or a drug addict or someone else who's been kicked down in life. cuz like, if you've lived in this scene, is it really where you wanna send people?
i got involved in my local punk scene and the problem is that people aren't actually focused on looking out for each other. punk is heavily white. punk is heavily abled. punk is heavily cis. i know everyone says "real" punk is this and that, but the problem is: i live in a punk house venue. i live in a house where punks throw punk rock shows weekly and invite other punks into our home to throw music and art shows. the DIY scene is a mess. it's full of abusers. it's full of enablers. it's full of queerphobes and tranny chasers. it's full of people who collect vulnerable traumatized people. it's full of people who will hand beers to recovering alcoholics and pass lines to recovering addicts.
this scene is full of people who scribble "this machine kills fascists" on every object they own and turn around and cower and say "I'm scared, can you come pick me up, there's some scary guys outside." because some black dudes listening to some rap posted up outside of the punk show. this scene is full of virtue signaling assholes who put antisemitic symbols on their "battle vests". this scene is full of half-assed "communists" who just want to brag about the big scary words they learned like "praxis" and "proletariat" and "bourgeoisie".
this scene is full of fake socialists who won't lift a finger to help each other, but will drag each other into hell instead.
the problem with punk as we know it is that it's whitewashed to hell and back, and the spaces created by these individuals are not centered around safety, but violence. yeah, you kill fascists, but do you provide meals for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, and harm reduction for the addicted? do you pass out extra blankets and clothes? do you help people get to the hospital? do you pat someone on the back when they turn down that beer? do you remember to not offer a baggie to the person who just got out of recovery?
no? then you aren't a safe person to be around, and you ain't punk. you are the reason this scene is unsafe.

Visible Mending
My grandmother sews up the elbows of my shirt.
Patched and patterned, in garish colours
Outlandishly clear. A kind of cloth kintsugi, saying
This is not that which was here before.
Ostentatiously altered, openly repaired,
A virtue signal, I accept, but will not apologise for.
I walk the streets with solarpunk written on my arms.
Andrew sews up the flaps of my skin.
Carefully sutured, his steady hands
Bear a duty of care. These marks will scar and harden,
Swallow stitches and leave stretch-pleats.
Even when the scabs have fallen,
I stand with a form all fixed and modified,
A body I stayed with, laboured over,
Though I could have chosen to throw it out.
I stand before the mirror with trans written on my chest.
Lined and changed, my biohacked body
And rescued clothes speak prophecy to a future
As yet unnamed. I carry them both as a promise.
One on the other, endlessly whispering,
Visibly mended and always the proof
That redemption is worth the price.
I rub oil into my scars and ask
My grandmother to teach me how to sew.

It makes me really sad that there's still transphobia on this world, especially on this app when there's so many amazing queer people here.
Anyways, I just wanted to say that I love you trans people. I love you, even if you haven't transitioned yet, even if you use the "wrong" pronouns, even if you have surgery scars or the procedure went wrong. I love you even if you're old, even if you transitioned late, even if you regret some or even all of your transition choices. I love you even if you're not supported, even if your family stopped talking to you, even if You've lost loved ones or you have to keep this away from them. I love you even if you're gender non nonconforming, even if you pass as the gender you were assumed to be, even if you still dont pass. I love you even if you use "weird" or "niche" genders, even if you're mogai, even if you're "cringe", even if you're cis trans, even if you use "contradictory" labels, even if you don't fit society's expectation of what a trans person should be, if they're okay with us at all. Hell, I love you even more if you're brave enough to present as yourself for yourself, not presenting as what the world wants you to be.
I just love trans people...

I鈥檓 a boy. I鈥檓 a girl. I could be your boyfriend girlfriend. I鈥檓 a boyfriend who looks like a girlfriend that you had in February of last year. I鈥檓 a man except when I鈥檓 a woman but a butchy woman but I鈥檓 still a man. I鈥檓 whatever gender is funniest in the moment. I鈥檓 neither a man nor a woman but an eldritch monstrosity that is actually just a cat. Hope this helps!

'The world traumatized me so i'm an edgy asshole and everything and everyone sucks forever' is not punk, that's nihilism.Punk is 'I had to deal with all that shit growing up and now you're telling me i'm supposed to accept it because it's 'normal'????Absolutely fucking not,i'm a total freak then and i'm gonna make it the problem of anyone in charge of this shit and help everybody like me and never shut up about any of it'

genderqueer does not have a set "look", you can really be anyone and be genderqueer. it can describe both how you feel on the inside, and how you present on the outside. you are not obligated to dress in a way you do not want to, as a genderqueer person, and you are not obligated to blur lines and dress in androgynous ways if it's not safe for you. there are a million ways to be genderqueer, be genderqueer in your own way, not someone else's

Fuck it, I鈥檓 suggesting a new day for the queer calendar: trans futures day. TDOV is a relic from another time and TDOR is vitally important but deeply emotionally distressing. Trans people deserve a day to celebrate our successes, our community, our joy, our resilience, our potential. As a solarpunk, I鈥檓 passionate about imagining better futures for all of us and a good future includes happy, thriving trans people who are beloved and valued members of their community and have self-determination over their gender expression and personal lives.
TFD could be all about inspiring trans youth about the adults they can become, celebrating growing older while trans, trans people working in progressive politics, the environmental sector, community organising, utopian storytelling and the cutting edge of new advances in science and technology, you name it.
As a date I propose 26th July - if I鈥檝e mathsed right (always a gamble lol) that鈥檚 the day exactly halfway between TDOV and TDOR.
Who do I talk to about making it real? 馃槄

Yesterday I did a post where I briefly talked about being pangender and my frustration with how people often correct me when I occasionally refer to myself with gendered language. I'll be told, "you're not XYZ you're nonbinary" one as if I've forgotten that I'm nonbinary and two as if nonbinary is a monolith. I wanna talk more about that within my experience. Being nonbinary as a whole is often conflated as being agender/genderless/the third gender and it's very frustrating. Of course that isn't to say people who experience being nonbinary in that way are invalid absolutely not, that's just not the only nonbinary experience. As a pangender nonbinary person I identify with a vast and diverse multiplicity of genders which can extend to an infinity within my own culture and life experience. At my baseline I essentially identify as all genders and no gender simultaneously. Here's another one to some extent I both identify as a queer man and women. I'm also genderfluid, xenogender, etc and for me there are no rules. I'm free to play around with gendered language and expressions ;however, the fuck I choose because there are no rules. I'm not, not a men/women because I'm nonbinary even though I'm not explicitly a men/women. I'm also stargender :3
