#do i hate myself for doing a repost thing#yes#did i need to have this on ym blog?? yes#dear evan hansen#deh#generously dear evan hansen is an interesting story about a boy who creates a reality out of sheer desperation#like evan is kind of ridiculously unlikeable as a protagonist#but also so endearing in a way????#there’s something so fucked up but so human about it#how all these people in the show are just so desperate#that they’ll cling to this SO unlikely reality that evan creates#evan is so desperate to BE something to be SEEN#and connors poor family is so desperate for his memory to be something GOOD#and it all just comes together to be something so painful#and horrible and weird and strange#like evan is clinging desperately to this idea of someone BEING there when he falls. he creates this illusion#of looking up and seeing connor after he breaks his arm#instead of being alone#and jared is just like "yo this dude fuckin SUCKED i'm gonna make this benefit me#and alana??? like yes she means well but she's ALSO making shit up to scrabble for purchase#noone deserves to disappear etc etc
