GENSHIN MEN AS YOUR PERSONAL BODYGUARD — HEIZOU & KAZUHA
Tumblr media
bodyguard!au
prompt: you are the daughter/son of a powerful and influential CEO which makes you a delicious target in the eyes of your father’s competitors for blackmail thus, you have to be guarded at all times
characters: heizou, kazuha x gn!reader
➽ btw good luck to everyone pulling for kazuha and heizou !! heizuha wanters will be heizuha havers <33
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧ ┊ shikanoin heizou
Tumblr media
playful bodyguard
sometimes you wonder how he even got the job
you used to find him annoying and “unprofessional” due to his chill and childlike demeanor and it is usually distracting
he likes teasing you lightheartedly and making you laugh in private
a lil’ flirty
he calls you “sweetie” and winks at you when he gets giddy
but as time passed by, you learned to grow on him as his playful personality helped you cope with your stress and realized that that alone is enough to uplift you
apparently good at reading your thoughts and emotions
sometimes it freaks you out how accurately he can relay what's going on in your mind
he can tell when you’re sad and understands what you’re thinking and feeling without you having to tell him, which honestly felt refreshing having a father who is a busy man whom you always have to do your best just to hog his attention
has good intuition
he’s saved you countless times from investors who he had a “bad feeling about”
at first you thought it was silly until you did a background check and found out one of your investors was secretly a wanted criminal for tax fraud
he generally just saves you from any harmful situation due to his intuition
he knows his boundaries and doesn’t pry on your business but damn he has helped you solve your problems multiple times
you started taking him seriously when you found out he was a professional martial artist while protecting you from perverts
then he stood up, fixed his tie, and smiled at you and escorted you as if nothing just happened
when you encounter difficult people to deal with, he will put a hand around your waist, pull you close, and get in between you and the other party
he’ll gently reassure you and escort you to your limousine, telling you to wait for him
but you just know someone’s about to get their ass beaten
he’s adaptable and can be many kinds of people depending on your situation: a friend, a partner in crime, and if you’re up for it, a plus one (or more *wink*)
✧ ┊ kaedehara kazuha
Tumblr media
gentle bodyguard
he really gives off such a comforting aura that you find yourself relaxing when he’s around the moment he gives you a gentle smile
he has a soft spoken voice that immediately puts you at ease when you’re stressed
he takes his job seriously and follows all your orders obediently
very empathetic
he’s really good at discerning your emotions and always comes up with ways to comfort you
at some point he just became your personal therapist too
sometimes when he’s on guard duty, you can hear him quietly muttering haikus to pass the time
it’s a cute hobby of his
he got really flustered though when you told him about it and suggested he would gladly stop that habit if it distracted you
but you reassured him that his poetry was beautiful and soon he was sharing some of his best ones with you
ironically has soft hands
but behind his gentle demeanor was a deadly samurai
you wouldn’t admit it but at some point you did underestimate his combat skills until he deadass just pulled out a sword, eyes glowing with anger, and slayed the whole board room when they started harassing you
normally you would’ve freaked out and have him fired on the spot but he was oh so beautiful and graceful as he did so
he sheathed his sword, not a single drop of blood tainting him and you
then he looked back at you with those gentle gentle eyes
Tumblr media
➽ this is just a little something i wrote for heizou’s first banner and kazuha first rerun! goodluck with your pulls and thanks for reading <3

Tumblr media Tumblr media
➳ Heizou x gn!reader
➳ Oneshot ; 3,4k
➳ Fluff, pining ; No warnings
It all began as merely pretending, but it grew into something so much more than that. [18.07.2022]
Zep's Note ; I decided to go with a gn reader since all my works feature one, I hope you don't mind! Also I LOVED this request, thank you!!

Tumblr media
"You want me to do what?"
You stared at the detective in front of you incredulously, shock and doubt written all over your features after his request. Shikanoin Heizou was easily Inazuma's best detective and his reputation preceded him far and wide, which is exactly why he often got away with peculiar ideas to solve cases. This particular idea, however, caught you by surprise like none ever did before.
"You heard me, Y/N," the cherry-haired male spoke, seemingly unaffected by the weight of his request. "I asked you to fake date me."
"I–" you brought out, sucking in a breath through your teeth. "Please explain how in Celestia's name this will benefit your investigation?"
Heizou had asked you to follow him towards one of the quiet corners of the Tenryou Commission's headquarters – which happened quite often, since he regularly shared confidential information with you, his loyal sidekick. You didn't think anything of it, expecting it to be simply another breakthrough that he wanted to inform you about. Never in your wildest dreams did you ever think that he would ask you to fake date him, yet here he was. This guy never failed to surprise you, huh?
"I'm sorry, I can't really tell you," he said earnestly. "It's a pretty fragile case and I was told not to share any intel, not even with you."
"You make it pretty easy for me to say no," you remarked skeptically.
Maybe you were making a big deal out of nothing, but this entire fake dating ordeal was quite a thing for you. You didn't mind helping him out at all, but this stunt topped all the previous ones with ease when it came to bizarreness. Especially now that he refused to give you a valid reason – though he seemed to have a good reason for that. Your thoughts were a whirlwind; what were you supposed to say? You were opposed to the idea, but at the same time you kind of weren't.
"I promise I'll tell you more as soon as I can," the male said solemnly, his eyes searching yours. He would never beg you for anything, you knew that, but you could see in his green eyes how important this matter was to him.
You sighed, not finding it in you to decline his request.
"When do we start and how long do we have to pretend?" you questioned, a strange feeling settling in the pit of your stomach now that you agreed.
Relief washed over Heizou's expression in the form of a smile. He seemed grateful, and you found that your agreement didn't bring forth any form of stress within you. You would do a lot for him; you were his sidekick after all, it was your job to help him whenever you could.
"Now," the detective simply replied. "Preferably until the case I'm working on is solved. Do you… do you mind?"
He looked at you carefully, scanning your face for any traces of dismay. Most likely, he would find a lot, but that was simply because you were still getting used to the idea of fake dating your detective companion.
"No, I'm just surprised," you admitted.
"I get that," Heizou nodded, a sheepish smile crossing his face. "Sorry for asking so out of the blue."
"It's fine," you reassured him, though the swarm of butterflies in your stomach still hadn't calmed down. "Just tell me what's the purpose of this as soon as you can, okay?"
"I can do that," the male said. "Thank you so much, Y/N. You are the best sidekick a detective can possibly ask for."
He ruffled your hair, and you couldn't help the wide grin that fell on your lips. It was there, almost giddy. You were happy to be his right hand – and now you were suddenly pretending to be his significant other as well. Of course you were curious to see how the latter would turn out, but time would tell, you guessed.
                                ✧  ✧  ✧
Word spread around the city fast, or so it seemed. The prodigy detective of the Tenryou Commission and his sidekick getting together; what a news that was. After setting up some rules, you went out in the open, and it was a whole happening. A lot of looks were cast in your direction whenever you made your way through the streets with your hands linked. It managed to fluster you every time, being seen with him like that. On the other hand, it seemed to fluster Heizou just as much, which offered you some sort of consolation. As confident as he appeared while making this request, he finally started to show that he wasn't entirely unaffected.
One of the first things you noticed after the entire fake dating situation started, was the way your hand fit in his perfectly, and how natural it felt to sway your connected hands back and forth on the cadence of your footsteps.
It was almost unfair that it was merely for the sake of pretending. And for what? Even a week after it all started he still didn't share the smallest detail about the case he was on, but you remained patient and didn't pry. He promised you he would talk about it as soon as he was able to, so you would wait for him to do so.
But you were curious.
Curious about what he was looking for when he glanced around discreetly every time you walked around with your hands connected. Curious about who or what this was all about. You had no clue, and you just blindly followed the detective's lead.
"Tomorrow there's a conference regarding this case in the Tenryou Commission's headquarters," Heizou commented, playing with your fingers. You were on a so-called date in town, which basically meant being out in the open to intentionally make it as obvious as possible that you two were a thing.
Your hand was in his snugly but you could hardly comprehend it: your mind was still a fuzzy mess after he insisted on feeding you spoonfuls of his dessert.
"And?" you asked, peering at his face. Honestly, you would have cursed the blush that was present on your face if he wasn't just as flustered as you were.
To others, it probably looked like you genuinely were a fresh couple that was madly in love, still getting used to acting lovey-dovey around each other. No one would ever suspect that it was as far from the truth as possible. The only reason behind your shared blush was because it was hella awkward to play pretend, to hold hands and act like a couple would with your trusted companion.
"I asked if I could take you with me, but they said it's still better if as few people as possible know about the case," the detective muttered. "I'm sorry, Y/N, I tried but still can't tell you anything about what's going on."
The pads of his fingers ghosted over your knuckles as he gazed at your hand absentmindedly, and his tentative touch left a trail of sparks on your skin. Why did it all feel so normal? Were you simply getting used to the whole ordeal, or was there something else?
"It's okay," you told him, flashing him a smile that hopefully mimicked the way someone would smile at their precious lover.
Heizou gazed up, and when his green eyes caught your smile, they widened before he quickly averted his gaze again, the blush on his cheeks deepening. Archons, it was so awkward, and the detective opposite of you genuinely looked like he was struggling. Maybe your smile had been a little too convincing, you thought. After all, the flurry of butterflies in your stomach made it all too easy to present to him such a smile.
"Y/N," the male called, and your connected hands remained on the table you were seated around. He paused, and seconds went by without him continuing.
     "Yeah?" you urged gently.
But he shook his head, his cherry hair bouncing cutely, and muttered a quiet nevermind. It made you wonder, what had he wanted to tell you?
There was a certain tension building in the air around you, and you failed to figure out what exactly was causing it. Oh, if only this intense uneasiness would cease once this entire fake dating thing was over. It would greatly stand in the way of all the upcoming cases you would have to solve in the future.
Heizou heaved out a sigh, bringing your hand to his lips and pressing a kiss against your knuckles. Your heart did somersaults in your chest when he rounded the table to help you up.
"It's getting late, let's get you home, yeah?" he spoke, offering you a meek smile.
Your walk was silent, and boy was it awkward. Even now, when you were pretending for a week already, people – acquaintances as well as strangers – still offered you their congratulations as you walked home hand-in-hand, and you answered them all with a sweet smile and a restless feeling in the pit of your stomach. Heizou did the same, giving your hand a gentle squeeze after every little act you skillfully put up.
He showered you with sweet gestures and it seemed to come so easily. Did he do all of this before? Had he ever used someone else to fake date him for the sake of a case? Merely the thought brought an iron fist to clasp around your heart.
As soon as you got home, Heizou gazed at the shadows in a bystreet, his eyes lingering there a little too long. You too stared in that direction, but failed to find anything out of the ordinary.
"Y/N," he brought out, his tone strangely quiet yet agitated. "Can I… Can I kiss you before you go in?"
He whispered but you heard him so clearly. Your poor heart stilled for a moment before it set a drum beat rhythm in your chest as you stared at him blankly. Did he just…? You weren't believing your ears. What about the rules you made? No pet names, no unnecessary gestures, and no kissing?
"W-Wy?" you stuttered, not missing the way he glanced at the alley once more. "Is something there?"
"Yes," Heizou replied, nervousness written in his eyes when he regarded you again. "I'm sorry, you don't–"
You were undeniably being used, you realized. But why wasn't there a no falling off your lips instantly? Why were you seriously considering a yes when your eyes darted to his lips for a split second? You felt warm, and not all that opposed to the idea. Surely it was simply out of loyalty, right?
"O-Okay," you cut him off. You pursed your lips. "Do it quickly before I change my mind and don't make it awkward."
You closed your eyes, and you heard a soft okay before a pair of warm lips touched yours. You were screaming on the inside, your heart pounding madly and your thoughts racing. It lasted for but a second before he pulled back and offered you a strained smile, but it had your head spinning.
Saying goodbye was surprisingly easy, seeing how you fled inside and left him on the doorstep. You fell against the front door, your fingers coming up to touch your lips softly. You mentally cursed.
Your very first kiss, taken merely for the sake of a case you knew absolutely nothing about. But then you saw Heizou's face in your mind, and you found yourself not minding all that much anymore.
Why?
                                     ✧  ✧  ✧
It was getting easier to pretend – or should you say, it was getting easier to act upon the whirlwind of butterflies that rumbled in your stomach? You had found it in you to return his gestures in public without freaking out on the inside. It was as if that kiss awoke something in you, and you had gotten bolder. Now it was you who took his hand more often, who clung to his side with a broad smile (and relished in the way the detective smiled back), who called him cute names with so much ease. You even planted a careful kiss on his cheek once when he seemed to spot something in his surroundings, and you were once again surprised how natural it felt.
Was it really out of loyalty? Or was there something else going on, something more?
You put a lot of thought into it, and with a shock you had realized; you were into it too much, and it came to a point where it was starting to bother you that it was only for the sake of pretending.
It felt so nice to be surrounded by him and his loving gestures, just as much as it felt good to reciprocate them. Your hand felt perfect in his, his hugs felt truly amazing, the words he spoke so nicely made you swell in happiness. It all made you aware of something big.
You started to see him differently.
Maybe the whole ordeal caused you to grow feelings for the detective – it would explain so damn much.
But with it also came the realization that for him, it was still a game of play pretend, all for some unknown benefit to a case he was on. It was painful, to say the least, but with gritted teeth you carried on.
For Heizou.
However, you weren't stupid. You also saw the changes in the detective. You were good at reading people, and you saw it in your companion. He was relaxing more, his lovey smile seemed genuine and so did his gestures. Plus, everything appeared to be extending to a point unnecessary for your public image of lovers. He lingered around you longer, asked if he could come inside after dropping you off after another fake date, your conversations grew more personal, and the tension between you eased.
And come on, if it was merely for the sake of pretending he would let go of your hand as soon as you entered his office in the Tenryou Commission's headquarters, right? No one was around to see you there, so dropping the act was completely fine but he seemingly refused to do so – and you did not mind in the slightest.
What exactly was happening between you two?
"You're quiet," Heizou remarked as the two of you walked around Inazuma City, slowly straying away from the busy streets and wandering towards the park.
"Just thinking," you muttered dismissively, which was nothing but the truth.
"You're lost in thought often these days," the male pointed out. Of course he noticed. As a keen detective, absolutely nothing went by unnoticed by him.
Petals of the tall Sakura trees fluttered down gently, drifting over the surface of the stream that meandered through the greenfields of the park just outside of the big city. The scenery was wonderful, but you couldn't really focus on anything besides your hand in his.
The fake dating thing has been going on for a couple of weeks now and everything was bothering you. You still had no idea why he started the whole thing, for Heizou refused to open up about it. For you it was a game no longer, and all your actions towards the cherry-haired male had grown sincere.
"Yeah," you simply replied, trying to pry your hand free from his grip. "There's no one here, you can let go of my hand now."
But his grip didn't loosen; if anything, he held your hand a little tighter.
"I don't mind," he briskly remarked.
"Oh," you uttered, cursing yourself for outing such an intelligent reply. But inside you were happy; he didn't want to let go of your hand!
Your walk continued in silence, and you were about to ask the male why he brought you to such a deserted place if there was no one around to see your act. Before you could speak up, the male gently brought you to a halt and his voice rang through the quiet park softly.
"Y/N, we have to talk," he said earnestly.
It was as if the weight of a stone dropped in the pit of your stomach as anxiety stirred within you. The look in his green eyes gave nothing away, and you could only wait nervously for what the detective wanted to say.
     "I think we should stop."
Those were the words he spoke, and they felt to you as if lightning struck the sky. Stop pretending? Is that what he meant to say? Even though the entire situation bothered you, the idea of quitting left you with a bitter taste in your mouth.
"Stop fake dating?" you meekly asked, trying not to show how much it affected you to begin with. You didn't want to make things awkward, so you truly did your best to hide the pain from your features.
     "Yeah," Heizou confirmed.
"Is the case solved?" you questioned. That must be it, right?
"Quite the opposite, we haven't even had our first breakthrough yet," the male admitted, his expression troubled. "I just can't do it anymore."
You wanted to shake your hand free from his – that's what he wanted, right? You probably read all the hints completely wrong and you were a fool. Disappointment coursed through your entire being.
"That's okay, we can stop," you reassured him, the crack in your voice giving away your inner struggles.
The detective still refused to let go of your hand, stubbornly keeping his fingers folded over your knuckles to prevent you from escaping.
"Don't get me wrong, Y/N," he lightly scolded you. "You're jumping to conclusions ahead of time."
His free hand flicked your forehead gently, and a smile of mild amusement rested upon his lips.
"I want to make it official."
It was a bomb so heavy, it made the entire zoo in your stomach explode and go berserk. Your mouth fell open as you gaped at him – was he for real? Was Shikanoin Heizou asking you out? The detective you spent so much time with liked you? It made no sense to you, yet at the same time everything seemed to fall into place. Why his sweet gestures always dragged on while they didn't matter for the public anymore, why his act seemed less of an act and more like something genuine as the weeks went by, why it became so much easier to be around each other in a way that only grew between you recently. Heizou liked you.
And you liked him back.
"I would love to," you replied, smiling warmly at the male. "The whole fake dating situation was becoming a pain."
"I know," the detective smiled back. "That's why we needed it to stop and make it something real."
You were ecstatic. Maybe this was what you've been hoping for all along without being aware of it at all until recently. Not even maybe, you were sure of it. Pretending to be with Heizou only hurt because you wanted it to be real, and it seemed like he wished for that just as much as you did.
"Bonus point, it will still benefit the case," the male teased, and you let out a huff.
"Shut up, I don't wanna hear about that case anymore," you pouted, and Heizou let out a laugh.
But then he turned serious, his hand finally letting go of your before reaching up to gently cup your cheeks with his soft hands. His green eyes gazed into yours wordlessly, a smile so ginger resting on his features.
"I've been dying to do this again ever since that one night," he sincerely told you, eyes flickering to your lips for barely a second. "May I kiss you?"
"You can," you replied, the surge of butterflies coming to accompany you once more.
You couldn't help the smile that grew on your lips when he kissed you, giddy and blissful. Who would have thought that after months of being his loyal sidekick, you suddenly were his significant other? Who would have thought that a game of play pretend would turn out this way – the best way possible?
You wouldn't, but you were as happy as you could be.

ꕥ Genshin Impact ꕥ boyfriend headcanons, Inazuma edition~ part one.
Tumblr media
This is a two part one cuz there’s a lot of characters and my brain only lets me write so many in one go >_<
I’m currently in the process of preparing to move in the next few months and hopefully starting a mortician apprenticeship so I’m exciteeddddd
Summary: Just head-canons about the Inazuma hotties :p
Warnings: Fluff, swearing, maybe a tiny bit suggestive, Gn!Reader, established relationship, not proof-read.
Characters: Heizou, Kazuha, Thoma.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heizou~
Oh no. Suddenly I’m a criminal.
I sure hope no hot, flirty, pretty detectives come looking for me >:)
We all know how, um, Suggestive this man is.
He’s absolutely not subtle about his feelings towards you.
Always giving you little compliments followed by a wink.
He somehow manages to know exactly how to turn you into a giggling puddle within the first 20 minutes of hanging out.
Takes you on surprisingly? Very romantic dates!
His favourite is to bring you on a picnic under the Sakura’s or a quiet night with you both wrapped up in a blanket reading crime novels or cases he wants to share with you!
He doesn’t get jealous often.
Man has a EGO.
But on the rare occasion that he does, you can bet your ass that he’s going to be snarky as all fuck.
Not to you of course.
No no-
He’ll probably be overly clingy and flirty with you!
More than usual-
But the offending person will quickly get the idea that they’re on the receiving side of his wrath.
Might outright call them stupid hfkvjfod.
He’s into fishnets.
I’m sorry (I’m not) but he wears them too much for me to not believe this man would break the second he see’s you wearing them~
Also handcuffs ;)
I don’t think he’s the type to be overly protective of you.
Don’t get him wrong, he does worry!
He just know you’re capable of handling yourself in fights!
If you come back hurt, it’ll depend on the severity of how much he’ll worry.
If it’s just a few scrapes a bruises, he’ll likely patch you up while scolding you to be more careful!
“Man alive Y/N? *sigh* my occupation is ‘detective’ you know. Not doctor. Let’s try and keep it that way, hmm?”
But if it’s more serious then prepared to be babied hdhsjd
You won’t be allowed to do anything until he’s satisfied that you’ve recovered!
He’ll bring you the best food he can get his hands on in Inazuma along with cute plushies and will even work from your teapot instead of the office which makes him surprisingly more efficient-
If you ever get insecure about yourself then buckle up-
He’s prepared to give you his entire analysis on how he thinks you’re better than Celestia herself.
My guy has facts, evidence and probably a bulletin board to prove that to you!
He might be a little scared to say the special three words (aka “I love you”) at first but it doesn’t stay that way for long!
All it took was him seeing you, face first in a case file looking all disgruntled and frustrated with your nose scrunched up and his mouth spoke faster than what his brain could think.
He won’t say it all the time but he tells you at least once a day <333
He can’t bare the thought of you not knowing how much you mean to him, no matter how stubborn he is!
Tumblr media
Kazuha~
I think I’ve made it obvious in my previous posts how pretty I think this boy is.
Like??????? Hello?????
God he would cHERISH YOU!!!
Definitely a little awkward at first but I head-canon that he’s actually really flirty!
He’s just super good at keeping it subtle enough that no one else notices shdufufuejjrifkAAAAAA
When he first started getting feelings for you Beidou referred to him as a literal love sick puppy.
He’s often sit on the end of the Crux (idk what ship parts are called) and write poems and haikus while looking up at the stars and blushing violently while thinking about you.
He definitely didn’t escape the crew’s teasing whenever he’d follow you around and seemed more giggly than usual!
Beidou was actually the one who got kinda tired of watching him run in circles so she set ya’ll up on a date without telling either of you-
Definitely said some cute poem when confessing!
“Like captured water, You hold me in your cupped hands. I flow on your palm.”
Haikus are confusing man wtf.
He definitely isn’t one for being kept in one place but it’s impossible not to notice how much longer he seems to stay around you!
And when feels the time is right for travelling again, he’ll often ask you to accompany him!
He’ll always bring you back a souvenir if you’re too busy to go with him!
Always tells you how it reminds him of you too!
Like he’ll bring back a red/pink sea shell and explain how the colour reminds him of when you blush or laugh so much your cheeks turn red.
He is protective of you but not overly.
He’ll voice his concerns about any dangerous commissions or quests you take on but if you’re insistent then instead of stopping you, he’ll accompany you!
He’s such a sweet, quiet boy so it comes to a big surprise the first time he protects you.
Actually raises his voice and shouts for you to get to safety (like when he shouted for that one dude to stop hiding)
Obviously he apologises after and explains he just wanted you to move so you didn’t get hurt :(
Completely random but I head-canon that he’s close to Yoimiya and every year for your birthday, he’ll bring you to Inazuma and take you to a really beautiful spot then set off fireworks that he planned with her!
And if you don’t like fireworks then he’ll still take you to a beautiful spot with a picnic and just watch the sunset with you~
Tumblr media
Thoma~
Pretty boy, good boy.
House wife, even.
He doesn’t believe he deserves you :(
Reassure this boyo.
He fell head over heels from the very first moment!
Every time you talked he’d get so flustered and stutter on every other word hdjjddjd!
Ayaka obviously knew what was going on and you did as well!
The both of you made out a plan on how you would confess to him and when you did-
Oh boy-
He almost started crying ududieifjck
Hugged you so tight for like a solid 3 minutes!
Ever since then, he always picks a flower from the tea house where you both made it official and brings it home to you!!
He’s a good cook so you can bet your lucky ass that you’ll have breakfast in bed on his days off!!
He’d also help fix your clothes if they get ripped during fights!
Ayato would definitely find the situation amusing so don’t be surprised when thoma suddenly gets the day off~
He does get very easily flustered so pda would probably be kept to the minimum unless you want the poor boy melting into a blushing puddle.
He’s not overly protective of you but he does worry himself into a stupor!
Like he won’t stop you going out on commissions but the second he see’s a scratch or a bruise, it’s out with the first aid and a stern lesson on how to patch yourself up!
He’s even made a personal travel first aid bag for you!!
At night when you’re laying in bed, there’s absolutely nothing he loves more than telling you about his day or listen to your stories while you play with his hair!
You’ve both become somewhat unintentionally popular!
Not to mention the people who are just a tiiiiny bit jealous that you’re the lucky one and not them.
Which you totally don’t relish in, just a little~
He can’t help it!!
He just loves talking about you and how happy you make him! Obviously people are gonna talk about how cute y’all are :p
He’s banned you from playing the pot game.
No one really knows how but you managed to give everyone who played it a stomach ache for a solid week.
Boy also insisted on teaching you how to play chess!!
He totally hasn’t let you win a handful of times just because he couldn’t bare to see how sad you looked when you lost
he also just wanted the table to stay in one piece-
This man refuses to go to work or to bed without giving you a good morning or goodnight kiss!
He adores how cute you are when he reminds you that he loves you even if it’s in a simple gesture!!
Tumblr media
Ya’ll, I haven’t slept for three days and the hat man is starting to morph into cyno.
Yes I’m totally fine :3

if only you would've guessed on how your day would develop today, you would've never thought it'll be on top of heizou's pulsating cock, that was nestled deep inside your ruined cunt.
your arms encircled around his neck for stability, because he himself wasn't even helping you keep your balance, way too busy with practicing for tonight's show. "can't you keep still?", he's blunt with it, really, pushing you down further onto his dick which made you mewl against his ear. "stay like that now."
At this point, you were holding him so close to you, overly surprised that he hasn't complained yet, but it seemed like heizou was way too focused on his usual practice routine.
Moreover, just as you were trying your best to please him, a sharp rattle of drums was suddenly heard from both sides, resulting in you jolting forward, the raw drag of his cock coaxing a broken moan out of your throat with such ease.
"hah—." even though he wouldn't admit it, he was struggling, "fuck, I said don't move." he grunted out as a whisper, barely hearable but very much notable against the shell of your ear.
You didn't say anything - it's not like you were able to say something in the first place by the way his tip was prodding right into your sweet-spot - , your rising body heat melting against his own had you already seeing white, he just felt so fucking good filling you up like this. Both his cum and your slick running down his balls and staining his pants but heizou didn't seem to care at all.
He let go of his drum sticks for a moment to grab onto the soft flesh of your ass, properly positioning you on his length again with a rather annoying look on his face. You were straddling his hips, a panting mess with your skin glistering a thin layer of sweat. Heizou saw the tiredness in your eyes and quietly moved towards your face, placing a small peck on your pouting lips so you'd give him attention.
"I'm almost, fuck." -his gaze briefly shifting to his cock getting sucked deep inside your needy cunt and letting out a heavy breath from deep inside his gut-, "-almost done, hold tight for me." your eyes making acquaintances with his pseudo innocent smile that he so cheekily presented to you - he was way too good at this - you figured.
He shifted in his seat before feeling your pussy tighten up around him again, grabbing him rapidly in which he grunted under his breath, holding your hips down so you'd stop moving. At this point you weren't able to compose yourself anymore, every single movement of heizou would make you moan or whine out.
He slowly grabbed a hold of your ass to pull you up slightly, his mouth agape as he dragged his cock inside of your cunt and hitting every single sweet-spot you had.
This, of course, pulled a grin from him, who loved seeing you desperate, "what is it?" asking innocently and batting his eyelashes at you, his gaze never shifting from your downright pornographic expression. "You've been so good." he coed, swallowing the access spit in his mouth and slowly closing the distance between your lips, "maybe I should give you what you desire." ending his sentence with a wink.
You, -on top of him breathed heavily-, seemingly tired and spacey as you were feeling his breath against your face.
You whimpered out his name -it being the only thing you could get out of your throat- and dropping your whole weight back on his lap, making the man -who a minute ago thought he was in control- let out the probably most beautiful moan in existence. He hardly gave you time to celebrate your small victory against his dominant aura as he settled his digits against your thighs, digging further into the flesh of your skin and suddenly thrusting up your heat, pubic bone hitting against your hole over and over again.
You tried to squeal out something, a moan of his name or anything but the words that did come out were all mindless blabbering falling deaf to his ears. You couldn't take it anymore, body way too sensitive from all the teasing beforehand as you let out a sharp cry while heizou continued to fuck up deep inside of you, fastening his pace with every thrust.
The ache for desire between your legs long gone as you felt your climax slowly built up in your gut, gradually coming closer while holding tight onto heizou to keep your balance. Your fingers finding refuge in his unruly hair, pulling harshly on his strands.
The way you tugged and grabbed on his hair spurred him on even more to continue to drag you against his angry cock, a broken moan leaving his lips. It only took a few more times before you unraveled on top of him, cumming on his dick and coating him with your slick. Your thighs squeezed around either side of his hips as heizou's speed never faltered, soon after cumming himself and painting your insides with brought strokes of white ribbons, pushing you against his chest while relishing in each others afterglow before he had to leave. <3

the hiyori case || shikanoin heizou
masterlist characters: heizou genre: angst contains: reader death, swears, spoilers for heizou's hangout events summary: as aether sorts through the files after becoming heizou''s supervisor for the day, he discovers a case that seems to be of great importance to the great detective. notes: before i go through with that 5wirl idea, i wanted to keep up my tradition of writing characters for the first time with angst :)
Tumblr media
aether stood by the case files, thumbing through the pages of ones that caught his (or paimon's) eye. he finds himself rolling his eyes at the "prince of mischief" that he and paimon so "cleverly" deduced to be the one and oni they had come to know. he lets out a light chuckle at the thought of gorou being called out to help search for the missing dogs in ritou. he raises an eyebrow, amused at the uncreative title of "heizou talks fraud".
however, paimon finds a case file tucked away among the rest of them that seems to catch her eye.
"aether! aether!" she cries out, letting out quiet grunts as she shimmies the bundle of papers out of the shelf. she flies over to aether, waving it in the air. "let's look at this one!"
"what's got you so excited over this one?" aether hums, raising a brow as he grabs the file from his companion.
"it looks really serious! unlike the other ones we read," paimon points out, gesturing towards the messy title written on the cover. "see?"
aether swats at paimon's hand which covers the title due to her jittery movements. he stares for a moment before pursing his lips. unlike the others, there was no real hint at what the actual case was about.
the hiyori case was written hastily, the letters barely legible. aether simply nods before opening the file, his eyes quickly scanning over the contents of the first page.
the hiyori case: in the early hours of XXXX, the body of (l/name) (name) was found on shikanoin heizou's doorstep.
"what?!" paimon cried out, scurrying away from reading over aether's shoulders. aether jumps at the shrill scream, much like the others surrounding the area. heizou shoots the two a curious look before his eyes land on the file in aether's hands. the complaint letter he had previously received was crumpled in his fist before falling to the ground.
"where..." heizou had a question on the tip of his tongue before he shook his head. he already knew the answer. he let out a shaky breath before grabbing aether's wrist, dragging the traveler behind his workplace. once he let go, he crossed his arms, his eyes averted and staring at the floor. "...well?"
"huh?"
"out with it," he huffed. "you read the case, right?"
"ah, only the first part," aether muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. "we... we don't have to look at it. i can put it back and we can talk about--"
"no," heizou interrupted, quickly shaking his head. "this case... it's already been solved."
"huh? so why is it in the case files?" paimon asked, tilting her head curiously. "paimon thought the case files over there were unsolved?"
"i... never had the heart to get rid of it," heizou responded, finally looking back up. "just... go ahead and read it."
"you sure?"
heizou only nodded.
the hiyori case: in the early hours of XXXX, the body of (l/name) (name) was found on shikanoin heizou's doorstep.
shikanoin heizou was not named as the prime suspect as he had been under direct watch the night of (l/name) (name) death as shown in the autopsy.
the autopsy report of (l/name) (name): the deceased, (l/name) (name), police station detective, rank doushin. clothes torn at time of death consistent with injuries. bruises and cuts from a knife found on the body. the victim's blood was found to have created a trail to shikanoin heizou's doorstep, beginning outside the archway leading to the shikanoin residence. cause of death is found to be loss of blood derived from the various cuts and stab wounds found on the victim.
aether could only wince at the details of the autopsy, shivering at the photos attached alongside it. the cruel sight of a (h/color)-haired individual sprawled out helplessly on the cobblestone path. their left arm was stretched above them, as if they were reaching out for something.
shikanoin heizou's testimony: the last time i saw (name) would have been the day before they... y'know. they said they were going to continue their investigation on the missing caravan. something about having a lead that they wanted to pursue. i... i offered to go with them. i mean, i wasn't doing much. well, that's a lie. i just wanted to go with them. but kujou sara had been watching over me to make sure i got my reports done so i had to stay the entire night. i didn't go home. i really wish i did.
aether glanced up at heizou who was fiddling with the accessories on his clothes. paimon let out a quiet hum, her eyes looking up at heizou as well.
"poor heizou," she cooed, holding her hands behind her back. "do you think he and (l/name) (name) were close?"
"judging by his reaction when he saw the file..." aether let his eyes go back to the file in his hands.
the missing caravan case: the missing caravan case was the last case (l/name) (name) had investigated prior to their death. the case involved a caravan that had been reported missing by the international trade association. the caravan was en route from ritou to inazuma city. the contents were reported to be financial reports as well as various goods that had been surrendered to the association. (l/name) (name) had a lead that they had been unable to submit a report on before their death.
"so they had a lead on a missing caravan?" paimon hummed, turning to aether. "would that have been reason for their death?"
"maybe..." aether's assumptions proved to be right when they caught heizou uncomfortably shuffling in front of him.
(l/name) (name)'s message: heizou, i know kujou sara's been breathing down your neck lately. i told you to get your reports done and not to put them off! maybe next time you'll listen to me! anyway, after i figure out this lead, i'll head home. you probably won't be able to until morning, but hopefully i'll be awake to see you! i can make you some tonkatsu if you want! make sure you don't sleep on your desk! you'll get back problems before you even hit your mid-life crisis!
"they sent a message to heizou, huh?" paimon pointed out. "you know, this seems like a friend message between coworkers... almost a bit too friendly."
...so that's how it is, aether thought to himself, a tight feeling in his chest as he flipped the page.
conviction of hiyori xxxx: the suspect, hiyori xxxx, 22 years old, unemployed. hiyori was unemployed and, as such, took up underground jobs intercepting caravan routes and stealing its contents. his latest job to intercept an international trade association caravan en route to inazuma city was discovered by detective (l/name) (name). a knife was found in hiyori's possession. (l/name) (name)'s dna remained on the blade. upon interrogation, he confessed to the murder. for the crime of felony murder against an official, hiyori xxxx is hereby sentenced to death. punishment will be carried out upon an official's request. said official shall be whoever signs this file. this file shall be kept as evidence. signed: kujou sara.
"oh! kujou sara signed it!" paimon gasps, patting aether's shoulder. the traveler merely nods before closing the file, tucking it under his arm. heizou's eyes shot up to meet aether's.
"ah, you finished so soon?" he hummed softly, the confident and snarky tone missing from his voice. "so? any questions?"
"the victim, (l/name) (name)..." aether trailed off for a moment. "how did you know them?"
"they were my... partner, you could say," heizou chuckled, crossing his arms. "we worked together even before ending up with the police. we just sort of stuck together."
"that can't be all!" paimon pouts, gesturing to the file in aether's arm wildly. "the files had a message from the victim addressed to you!"
"heh, you caught me," heizou laughed, his shoulders slumping. "mmm we were partners, i wasn't lying on that. i'd say they were the best partner i ever had."
"what about the missing caravan case?" aether was quick to change the subject, much to paimon's dismay.
"(name) had been obsessed with that case. i had a hunch but i never knew why for sure. i wish i took that case from them, that much i'm sure of."
"and the suspect was hiyori... something," aether pointed out. "the first name's all crossed out."
"i found him," heizou nodded, his eyes glaring daggers at the file. "i found that bastard and begged for kujou sara to put him to death. i wanted him dead because he left them for dead. a low life like him didn't deserve to rot in jail."
"heizou's... really intense about this, huh?" paimon mutters under her breath.
"i crossed his name out. he doesn't deserve to be known either," heizou continued. "you saw that photo of (name), right? in front of ou... my house?"
aether simply nodded.
"they crawled their way there. they could have lived that night if i got home quicker or... or if that bastard didn't track them down and stab them again."
aether handed the file off to paimon before stepping closer to heizou, placing his hand against the detective's arm. he didn't say anything and opted to stand there in silent comfort.
"they... this case was the reason i do what i do now," heizou muttered, his voice wavering. "i stare at that case every damn day because i try to forget it's there only to see it again. i want to get every case done the right way because... because i worry about that case."
"worry about what?" paimon asked, her head tilting slightly.
"that i was wrong," heizou clarified. "i worry that i begged for a person to die for a crime they may not have done. i look over the clues the police station has every time i can because i might have missed something last time. and every time i have to look at their face. not the one i have framed at home but the one that's battered and bloodied on the concrete in front of my house."
heizou clutches onto aether's arm which was the closest thing he could grab for stability.
"they were the best partner i could ever ask for, aether... and the archons know that i miss them and would trade everything in the world just to come back home to them like they would expect me to..."
ending: the detective duo
"they were the best partner i could ever ask for."

SYNOPSIS: Detectives are supposed to be trusted, right? So why does it feel like the one with her felt so… Hollow?
TW/s: delusional thinking, yandere tendencies, unrequited love, toxic dynamic/s, Heizou is fucked up in the head, short term isolation, pre heikazu matchup, nsfw tws include horrific imagery, body horror, arson, mutilation(?). Please dni if you are uncomfortable.
NOTE FROM HR: Happy late Valentine’s Day, miss Phitre (@a-dose-of-phitre). It seems your date went well with Heizou, but I’m rather concerned with how you’re looking right now. Is it just me, or did you plan to go with someone else?
Tumblr media
Heizou is regarded by a lot of people for his expertise and quick wits as a detective. That in and of itself is normal, considering how he seems to excel in those aspects. However, what they don’t seem to remember about him is that he’s a bit of a trickster to the people he found… Fun to be with.
Don’t get him wrong, he likes doing it all in harmless fun. He doesn’t enjoy taking things too far if he could really help it, and to him, he didn’t want to put his recent dates through the horrific things he can do. But for some of them, they like stepping a bit too far from those boundaries he set for their sake.
One such incident is actually days before that happened. He has always wanted to save the ones he loved the most for last, since he thought that it felt more fitting to savor the time with his beloved, Kazuha.
“Oho? It seems that my partner in crime is up bright and early! And here I thought I have to get you again,” he told the woman as they met up by the park, grinning madly upon seeing her try to catch her breath. “Oh dear, relax, breathe. I’m not going to leave you behind, Febronia.”
His date, though, huffed. Catching her breath, the woman turned her head to face the cheeky detective, hitting his arm in return.
“Yeah, but not when you decided that we’d meet this far from our usual spot!”
The latter laughed once again. Oh, he knew what he did wasn’t right, but can you blame him? He wanted to play a little joke on her, and their destination would take ages if they met up in their regular area to walk there.
He’d have to blame Sara for that. She had told him he couldn’t use his motorcycle due to too many joyrides, and to add insult to injury, she confiscated it back at the agency! He couldn’t even show his face to her when it happened, and even Kazuha has told him that it was only inevitable.
The horrors, he says! All because she didn’t know how to have a sliver of fun… What a tragedy indeed.
“Well, you’d have to thank Sara for keeping my ride from me. She’s the one who told me to quit it, saying that I was only doing it for my leisure. The audacity of her to assume that I'm not even doing my job, too!”
Febronia rolled her eyes, hitting his shoulder with a scoff. It was obvious that he was simply being a drama queen, which isn't foreign to the two of them.
… Although, maybe it should have. After all, Heizou isn't always the one to act such a way, right?
“Anyways, why don't we go and see what you want to show me? If we spend too much time here, we're bound to miss whatever appointment we have for the trip.”
“Haha, right you are, my partner. Right this way!”
Tumblr media
Arriving to their location, Febronia could tell that he has a preference with his choice of escape rooms. As a detective, he must be so keen and excited to be able to go through them, since he solves cases faster than a person can think.
Still… she did wonder if he remembered that she couldn't solve it, or to actually inform her that their venue would be so extravagant.
“Heizou, did you forget to tell me that this place would have a theme with masquerade?”
“Ah, I didn't,” he answered truthfully, snapping his fingers with a smile on his face. “Actually, I wanted to keep this as a surprise for you! After all, I've always thought about visiting a venue such as this, and we also have the appropriate attire before we head inside.”
Really now? She found it hard to believe. After all, this is the same man that knowingly hid this information from her, deeming that it isn't important. What a bother.
Still, by the sparkle in his eye, she found it hard to tell him no. It would simply be far too rude for her to turn him down when they're already at their destination.
“Okay, okay, fair enough,” Febronia answered, sighing. “I do hope you have the right outfit for us, mister detective. If you forgot about that, I'd seriously question if you want us to be shamed in there.”
“Nonsense,” he replied, patting her head with a cheeky grin. “It won't be that bad! All you need to do is just relax and have fun. After all, the outfits we'll get won't be too restricting… or even too eye-catching. I'd rather not have people stop us.”
Stop us?
“What do you mean by—”
“Anyways, here they are! Come, Watson!”
Heading inside, the masked guards simply nodded and stared at the dumbfounded date, this time out of confusion. He just cut her off, like he didn't want to hear her ask.
… What a strange predicament. She felt like something was up with him.
“Partner! Aren't you coming?”
Her eyes flitted over to the waiting Heizou, and she ran towards the entrance, ignoring the sorry looks of the masked men that followed the detective.
“Sorry, I got distracted,” she apologized to Heizou, but he simply shook his head. Holding her hand, he smiled and spoke, “It's alright. Anyway, let me lead the way.”
Walking down the empty halls, her eyes trailed down to their hands. Although hers were warm, Heizou’s felt… cold. Like there was no semblance of body heat coming out of them, or maybe he's not as warm there than other parts of his body.
Still, it made her worried. He doesn't talk much about himself, and this set of one of the many alarm bells in her head.
However, she kept quiet. She didn't want to make this awkward as is.
Arriving at the dressing room, he let her in first before he followed inside. Closing the door behind him, they were greeted with the multiple closets and drawers of clothes of all kinds: dresses, suits, gowns, and even others that aren't tied to the masquerade theme.
She reached over to one of the clothes, eyeing it then putting it on her body. It looked a bit short, so she dropped it.
“I'll go ahead and change in the bathroom,” he told her, opening the door to her left. “Just knock if you're done, okay, Watson?”
“Alright. It'll take a while before I can get dressed, so I hope you're fine with waiting.”
“Haha, I won't!”
It was only when he left that she turned her attention to the dresses, eyeing each and every one of them. Some were too gaudy, too revealing, and a few were just… nonsensical.
Sifting through each and every article of cloth she was given, Febronia’s brows furrowed in confusion. There were far too few that fit her taste, and it felt like she would be stuck there forever if she couldn't find something that fits her.
Then, she stops as she stares at the dress that fits her style well.
Granted, it was a pale white dress, the beading and accessories were that of crystals and golden leaves. There were even feathers that are on it, and combined with the heels and how it was tailored, it covered her enough that she could breathe but have the right places shown.
It was also not a form fitting dress, so she was relieved. The weirdest thing, though, is the veil of the mask that came with it. It was almost as though it wanted to cover her face.
Taking the dress and its mask, she looked down at the others and shrugged, turning around to put it on. The dress smelled nice, like it was freshly doused in mild perfume and washed as well.
Come to think of it, it looked cleaner than the ones she had to check. It's almost like it had been deliberately picked and hidden so she could find it.
What a strange coincidence. She felt like something isn't going so well because of how fortunate the tides have gone in her favor. Alas, it may just be a simple fluke or something of the sort.
As she discarded her original attire and put it on, she felt the weight of heaviness prior leave as it was on her body. And she was right—it fit her like a glove, and it complimented her body well. Though, looking at the colors, she's reminded of what a dove would look with it's pearly white condition.
God, I hope I don't stain this. It probably costs a fortune to even clean the slightest bit of stain here, too.
Walking to the door with her new get up and the heels that came with it (she swore she'd fall, so she needed to take her time walking in them), she knocked on the door.
Knock, knock.
“Heizou? I'm done changing! Are you done yet?”
… Nothing.
She knocked again.
Knock, knock.
“Heizou? Come on, this isn't funny.”
No response. The lights are flickering, but she paid no heed. She needed to see what was going on.
Knock, knock.
Knock, knock.
“Hey! Answer me, Heizou!”
This time, she turned the knob of the door, and was surprised that it wasn't even locked. No, she could open it.
What the hell?
Pushing the door, she rushed inside, catching a whiff of metallic and soot. Coughing, she swiped her hand so she could see and breathe clearly, and her eyes simply widened at the sight before her.
Heizou wasn't inside, but the room was up in flames. Some of the items were already burnt down, and the flames were reaching to the walls and on the door.
Stumbling out, she dashed to the exit and found that it was jammed. Febronia could only panic as the flames got out and entered the room she was inside.
“Heizou?! Heizou?!”
Slamming the door, she began to try and find something to use. Grabbing the chair, she began to slam it repeatedly, but to no avail.
Tossing it to the fire, it traveled to the clothes she discarded and it began to melt, letting the terrible stench of plastic greet her and make her wheeze. Some even traveled to where she was, touching the glass heels and plastic dress she wore.
Then, the flames got to her skin.
The pain of being burned alive was making her scream. She tried to put it down, but it went further up, making her let out cries. Some descended from below to her head, setting her hair up on fire.
The flames and plastic got to her form, to which she was only greeted with the feeling of pure and utter agony.
It hurts to be burnt alive. It was a fate she wouldn't want anyone to have, as her skin was becoming nothing but charred. And God, did it hurt. It was even worse with the plastic melting in her.
Her eyes began to bulge as she heaved, crumbling onto the ground. She needed to breathe fresh air, but all she could even get was smoke that filled her lungs.
What ripped from her throat was screams of anguish and rage, blaming the one that led her there— the damned detective, who left her for dead.
… Which was funny, for even she can't blame him. After all, had she paid attention, she would've found out the truth of the detective she's with.
Tumblr media
Several investigators came to the scene after the locals have brought up the concern of hearing screams late at night. It had been days after the incident that led to the manor burning, and they wanted to see what was left behind.
An anonymous tipper has left them something vital to investigate, especially for the disappearance of Phitre, a lady who was last seen being with “Heizou”.
When they got to the scene of the crime, one of them leaned over to the burnt plastic that was made to be dresses and cringed at the stench. Some were not even taken care of, and it was almost like it had been taken decades ago.
However, what caught their eye was the mask laid next to a charred, disfigured and melted body. It smelled the same as it had been prior, and even when the dress melted into the skin of the victim, the mask remained pristine.
The only difference, though, are two pairs of jeweled eyes that stared right back at them, like the corpse still looked at them with disdain in their soul.

completely dying inside thinking about boyfriend/husband Heizou. I can't even imagine-♡
Boyfriend Heizou will be an absolute tease in the relationship but also loving <33 He’ll tag you along in his cases if you’re also into solving mysteries and crimes. The more you follow him, the more the doushins in the police station get interested and curious about you!
Heizou is not the type to bring an assistant when there’s a new case because everyone— and I mean everyone— in there knows his only partner is his trusty intuition. So seeing you with him is a big shock, especially since you don't work for the Tenryou commission.
However, he only brings you on less dangerous adventures. He doesn’t want you to get involved nor get hurt bcs of him. Losing someone he loves the most in his life would affect him so much and it would be hard for him to cope after the incident with his friend…
So when he has the free time to stay with you and have on dates, he settles you on his lap and kisses your neck and the back of your hand, lacing it with his own as he brings it close to his lips, whispering I love yous to you and asking you if you missed him.
If you say you don’t, he’s gonna get all pouty even though he knows you’re only teasing him. Having you safe and alive is what matters the most to Heizou, and you know he won’t let you go until you say I love you back to him and kiss him on the lips
••••
HUBBY HEIZOU HUBBY HEIZOU HUBBY HEIZOU—
Similar to boyfriend Heizou, he’s still quite protective over you but mild. He’s going to teach you martial arts for self-defense whenever you’re going out— whether you’re going for groceries or hanging out with your friends
With his reputation of being the well-renowned detective in Inazuma, there’s a high chance someone will blackmail him and use you. And Heizou sometimes comes home so late so it would be great if you could defend yourself and fight off those who dare to assault Mrs. Shikanoin.
This man is gonna be so damn proud of you and he’ll boast to his co-workers how strong, beautiful, and a great wife you are. Of course not the kind of loud boast but in a way that his words sting them right through all their hearts. They’re kneeling in defeat and others are seething with jealousy because of how lucky he was to have a wife cook for him after a tiring day.
Oh, speak of the devil. Shikanoin’s wife was right there at the door frame, holding a wrapped bento in your hand. You waved at him with a sweet smile and Heizou’s heart fluttered and raced to see you there.
“What brings you here?” He asked. Heizou does not need to turn around to notice all the doushins’ eyes following him and gazing at you with admiration. Some were whispering and others were crying in envy.
“I brought you your lunch. You forgot to bring it with you when you left the house.” You handed over the packed lunch to him. One thing that caught his eyes was the yellow sticky note that slipped over the well-kept hanky that wrapped his bento.
Heizou has that smug smile drawn over his face. Patting your head, he leaned down and kissed you right on the lips.
Right in front of his co-workers.
Behind him was a mess. A chaotic mess filled with sorrow, bitterness, and envy.
You blinked owlishly, surprised by his bold public display of affection. The sensation of his lips is yet to falter on your own soft ones and you wished you could have more if it was somewhere more private.
But you brushed it off and took the courage as well to reciprocate his affection. The rush of blood bustling all the way to your cheeks made it worse for you. Bowing down, you excused yourself to everyone and left the station in a rush, leaving your husband hanging there.
Heizou was as presumptuous as ever. His smirk remained still but with a hint of coyness to it.
“Everyone, get back to work or else Madam Kujou will scold you all for slacking off.”
He warned. Everyone’s focus and attention were now on their own business. Although they returned to their places, the sentimental agony of being single the doushins shared dawdled in the office.
To say Heizou is a forgetful person would be a shock.
Shikanoin Heizou, the greatest detective of Inazuma is a forgetful person? Pfft, surely not. That’s just absurd!
Some would deny it and assume it was because of the heavy workload of cases being given to him whereas others would say it’s what he gets for being married.
None of them were true and none of them were related to his work or marriage. In fact, he intentionally left the bento at home so you can come over to the Police Station and visit your beloved husband.
The image of you blushing and flustered was difficult for him to focus on his work. Well, at least everyone knows who you belong to and not to touch or take what’s his.
Heizou has never been more motivated to finish his work, get home early to receive your daily “welcome home” kisses, and eat the homey dinner you’ve prepared. Maybe he should often leave his bento at home so he can see your face every day before his break.

kazuha: don’t you mean the shogun? (also i’m not even a criminal anymore)
kujou sara: no, kaedehara, i do not. i am referring to the fact that detective shikanoin mentions you every chance he gets and its getting on my nerves.

It was easy to decide that you didn't like the star detective, but how realistic is it to keep up that act when you are stuck together on a frostbitten mountain? [07.08.2022]
Zep's Note ; This is soooo long and it has really gotten out of hand but I really hope it won't stop you from reading this. It took so long to write this, I hope it doesn't flop heh.

"It is, by now, clear that the man we're looking for has fled to the cold mountain outside of our nation. Together with the Knights of Favonius we have come to the unanimous decision that the Tenryou Commission will remain on the case. Somewhere within the next few days, upon finishing all the needed preparations, a select few of our best detectives will be sent to Mondstadt in order to…"
You tried to listen to the droning voice of the old man in front of the room, for what he was saying held quite some importance, but you couldn't help but to zone out as nervousness swirled in your stomach. You were told that you were chosen to be on the team before the meeting even started, and you already felt the pressure resting on your shoulders. It wasn't just a random case you were assigned to, and not only that, it was also your first time leaving the nation of eternity. The entire thing was quite a big deal, and you knew you had to perform to the best of your abilities.
"...Dragonspine is a dangerous place and the suspect is someone who also imposes a threat. Please, keep this in mind at all times and do not operate on your own, I cannot stress this enough. Make sure to stay with your assigned partner and regroup in case of emergency…"
Yeah, this case started to terrify you.
"This is getting interesting," a voice next to you commented, and you glanced to your right to find Inazuma's most famous detective leaning back in his seat lazily.
He seemed utterly unfazed by the weight of all that was told, his eyes sparkling with a glint of excitement that was almost boyish. His lips were pressed into a lopsided grin; was he even taking this seriously? This wasn't a laughing matter in the slightest, nor was it a case that should be taken lightly. Everyone else in the room was dead serious, listening intently, but he seemed to be in his own little world.
What was his name again? Shikanoin Heizou, wasn't it? The prodigy detective of the Tenryou Commission, someone you were supposed to look up to. Ever since joining the detective department, you've heard a lot about him, for he had a reputation that preceded him across all of Inazuma. You've caught glimpses of him occasionally, but that was as far as it went so you never really formed an opinion about him. From what you were seeing of him right now, you were not impressed.
You decided to ignore his comment and redirected your focus to the Doushin in front as he went over the details surrounding the case.
Despite your nervousness, you were also excited. You had been working on the case for some time now and you were glad you had been chosen to continue the search in another nation. You were the one who paved the way for the breakthrough that directed the team to the icy mountain of Mondstadt, and you couldn't wait to delve through the thick layers of snow and secrets and eventually catch the culprit.
"Are you also on the case?" the detective next to you spoke up again, his hushed voice directed towards you this time. "You seem really immersed in what the old man is talking about."
"Yeah," you replied curtly, not even bothering to look at him. You weren't here to make conversation, you were here to grasp the details of your assignment, and this guy was being a distraction.
"So am I," the male whispered. "I mean, of course I am on the case. As soon as they asked me, I dropped a few other cases I was on. I didn't want to miss out on this opportunity."
Wasn't he a talkative one, huh? He sounded kind of full of himself too. Annoying and complete with an ego that was too big for your liking. You quickly came to the decision that you didn't particularly like him.
"I'm Heizou, by the way, but I'm sure you've heard about me before," he told you, his tone still quiet. He shot you a charming smile, and you forced yourself to ignore it despite the pavlovian urge to smile back.
Shit, why did his smile have to be so pretty?
"I'm Y/N," you muttered, opting against telling him to kindly shut up. You glanced at the clipboard in your lap, that held by far not as many notes as it should. You were so distracted, and the so-called brilliant detective was mostly the one to blame. So this was the Tenryou Commission's superstar?
Apparently, knowing your name satisfied him, for he didn't bother you for what remained of the meeting. In the last few minutes you frantically took notes, trying to scribble down details you had only heard vaguely. You couldn't help but glance at the cherry-haired male – you didn't know why, you just had to – and it kind of surprised you how he neatly took notes as well. So he did take it seriously?
"...will receive an invitation to the next meeting shortly, please be present there as well. That brings today's meeting to an end. Dismissed."
The elderly Doushin clapped his hands, and everyone started moving. You gathered the few things you had brought with you and got up, hurriedly exiting the room before the prodigy detective could bother you again. Of course it was no surprise that he was also on the case, but you weren't sure how to feel about it. Sure, if he was as good of a detective as everyone said, he was a great asset in finding the culprit in the barren circumstances of Dragonspine. But seeing was believing and he had yet to convince you of his skills.
                    ✧✧✧
You weren't sure why the Tenryou Commission's star detective decided to stick around you, but you weren't happy with it in the slightest. He was intrusive, always demonstrating how full he was of himself, lingering around you, firing remarks in your direction you didn't even ask for. Archons, you weren't even asking for his attention. He acted like you were close acquaintances, or friends even, while you barely met him once – and not even properly. Heizou wasn't always a pain in the ass, sometimes he just reached out to simply talk, but it still struck you the wrong way. He was what most people would describe as easy-going, but you found it plain annoying.
You wanted to focus on the case at hand. Shikanoin Heizou was a byproduct you hadn't bargained for. Were the circumstances any different, you probably wouldn't have disliked him all that much, but it was as it was and you wanted nothing to do with him.
Then why was he so adamant on talking to you?
Was it simply because you two were on the same case? Usually detectives who worked together kept things professional and free of distractions and hardly ever made friends as they were solving a case, but you were quick to find out that Heizou followed his own plan all the time. Who knew, maybe this was him trying to be friends with you – something you weren't up for.
Or was it because he knew how much he managed to annoy you, and was he doing it on purpose merely for his own entertainment? He didn't really seem like that type, but there was still a possibility of it being true.
Whatever his reason was, he always managed to find you in the hallways of the Tenryou Commission's headquarters, even when you were on your way to the second meeting.
"We can go there together, if you want?" he asked, and you replied with just an incoherent huff. You did not want to, but he took your answer as a yes.
After that, he simply followed you to the room where the meeting was being held. He was walking next to you now, and you tried your best not to focus on how handsome the guy actually was. He wasn't all that bad as long as he kept silent, you decided.
Unfortunately, he never did for long.
"So I overheard something interesting yesterday," he began as you rounded another corner on your way to the meeting. "Is it true that you're the one who guided us towards Dragonspine?"
How did he even find out? He wasn't on the case when you caused the breakthrough that led you to the icy mountain, and details such as that were usually kept quiet. And what more, what did it even matter?
"Yeah, that was me," you admitted with aversion.
"I hope you weren't wrong," he simply said.
A frown rested on your features as you turned to look at him. What kind of bullshit was it that came out of his mouth? You triple-checked all the facts and findings and it was so obvious; everything pointed towards Dragonspine, there was no doubt. All the detectives who gave their second opinion agreed, and now someone who wasn't even involved dared to question you?
"Are you underestimating me?" you asked, narrowing your eyes at the detective next to you.
The male replied to your question with another one.
     "What if I am?"
For once it wasn't a charming smile that adorned his lips. He was dead serious, his green eyes searching yours almost in a challenging way. Archons, this guy was really getting on your nerves. Don't punch him, Y/N,  don't punch him, you told yourself, exhaling deeply.
Then Heizou's look softened a little, and he shrugged.
"I usually only rely on myself when solving cases."
You looked at him in confusion. Things weren't adding up here. You might have been a detective, but this guy was a mystery you had yet to solve.
"Then why in Celestia's name did you join a cooperative operation?" you asked, puzzled.
The cherry-haired male seemed to think for a moment, before he once more shrugged his shoulders.
"I told you before, this case seemed interesting."
This guy didn't make sense to you at all, and it annoyed you to no end. You really tried to understand where he was coming from – though you had no idea why you tried so hard, you didn't even care about him – but you truly didn't get him. At first glance he seemed to be not at all complicated, but the longer your gaze rested upon him, the more you realized there was more about him.
Fortunately you had reached your destination. You were out of things to say and the silence that started between you felt awkward. You escaped by entering the meeting room and quickly took a seat. Not much to your surprise, Heizou sat down relatively close to you, but he didn't speak up and you were relieved.
The meeting went by rather smoothly. This time, only those who were directly involved with the case were present. Most of them had already worked on the case before the massive breakthrough and Heizou was one of the few new faces.
"I would like to start our second meeting by expressing my genuine gratitude towards you," the old man in front of the room started, picking up a stack of paper. "We have some of our nation's best detectives gathered here, and several of you dropped their previous case in order to assist us with this dire search. As much as that means to us, it also highlights the sheer importance of this case."
The rest of the talk actually wasn't much. The old man mostly went over the history of the case, which was nothing new since you've been on the case since the very beginning. It seemed that this meeting was mostly for the newcomers, such as Heizou – who appeared to be listening intently for once. Still, you made sure to listen closely and took notes diligently. Your excitement was still there; you truly couldn't wait to solve this.
"As I mentioned in our first meeting, we will work in teams as soon as we arrive on Dragonspine," the Doushin spoke, and suddenly you were all ears.
Your eyes quickly went over all the detectives present, making mental notes on who you did and didn't want to be paired up with. As soon as your eyes landed on Shikanoin Heizou, a weird feeling bloomed in the pit of your stomach. You didn't understand what it meant, but you guessed you were simply anxious to end up in a team with him. You definitely did not want that.
The man in front of the room started calling names to announce the set teams. Your name didn't fall off his lips for quite some time, and more and more detectives were teamed up. Much to your horror, Heizou's name also wasn't called, and your heart was beating nervously as seconds passed by slowly. Six others left, four, two… This wasn't good.
"Heizou and Y/N, you are the last team for this expedition, and you two will function as the lead detectives for…"
Your nightmare came true. You felt everything around you crumbling down as you stared at the cherry-haired male in horror. Really? He was your assigned partner? Out of everyone who was on this case? Was fate really that cruel? You nearly groaned out loud, pressing your lips in a thin line. The excitement you felt towards this case went down the drain completely. You were stuck with him and you hated it.
You refused to look at him, and for what remained of the meeting you didn't acknowledge him at all. It all went by in a blur, your notepad was untouched once again – you hated how it always seemed to work out that way ever since Heizou got involved. He distracted you, he made you act out of character, and you truly wondered why he had such an influence on you. It was unfair; you disliked him, yet it seemed that fate wanted the two of you to be involved without escape.
It took a lot of effort to sit through the last part of the meeting, but as the Doushin spoke his final words you patiently waited for everyone to leave the room and walked up to the front.
"Can I request to switch partners?" you asked, your voice almost sounding like a plea. "I'm sure it will benefit my results if I could work with someone else."
That wasn't even a lie.
"You two are our top detectives, we need you to work as a team for optimal results," the old man replied, shaking his head. "I can't have you switch partners. Is there a problem?"
Your stomach dropped. Was he for real?
     "No, sir," you forced out.
With gritted teeth, you accepted your fate and left the room. Outside you ran into the person you wanted to see the least, and you mentally cursed him as you made your way to walk past him.
"You wanted to switch partners?" the male asked, pressing a hand to his chest exaggeratedly. "Ouch, that hurts."
Despite his act, you could see a hint of real pain on his features, and you felt a pang of guilt. Maybe it was unfair for him to let a personal matter get in the way of business, you realized. As you thought about it, he didn't necessarily do anything wrong to you, did he? He just had a knack for pissing you off, but you were sure it wasn't on purpose.
"It's whatever," you murmured, brushing past him. "Let's not be in each other's way and solve this case to our best abilities."
You realized it was hypocritical to blame him for not taking anything seriously when you also let your irritation towards him get in the way of your detective work. You both had to step up your game and deliver your best performance.
If you had to be nicer to him in order to achieve that, then so be it. It was time to stop being so petty. After all, you could do nothing but accept the situation, so you better make the most of it.
                    ✧✧✧
Finally the day was there. You arrived in Mondstadt yesterday, spending a night in a camp near the icy mountain that stood tall and threatening. Today you would go up the mountain and scourge the area for clues that would hopefully lead to the main suspect. You felt thrilled, spurred on by the chilly air that blew over the barren wildlands at the foot of the mountain.
The entire team was getting ready, donning themselves in winter coats, scarfs, gloves, and sturdy boots stuffed with fluffy wool. You were already wrapped in warmth and ready to go, but you had to wait until everyone was ready to depart. For safety reasons, they said, which didn't make a lot of sense to you since everyone would scatter on the mountain anyway. l
You tried to mentally prepare yourself, to clear your mind and get ready for a tough investigation. It wouldn't be easy to find clues under such difficult circumstances as they were on Dragonspine, and you hoped the experience as a detective you had built up in Inazuma was enough to help you here. Preparing yourself proved to be a little difficult, now that you found out that Shikanoin Heizou looked pretty cute in a cozy winter coat. You decided not to glance in his direction too much, for thoughts like those weren't welcome in your mind. Not now, not ever.
But he was still adamant on getting your attention, despite the rough encounter in the hallway after the second meeting – which also happened to be your last interaction before you departed to Mondstadt.
He seemed unfazed when he stepped in front of you, hoisting a heavy-looking backpack with camping equipment on his back, but you had gotten quite good at reading people and you could see the aversion in his green eyes.
"Are you good to go?" he asked.
He was hesitant to talk to you, you could tell that much. You felt a pang of guilt. Maybe Heizou had a talent of annoying the shit out of you, you still had been too harsh on him. You two had to work together now, so it was better if you accepted him as he was. The upcoming days would be important, and messing up wasn't an option.
     "I am," you replied. "You?"
"As ready as I'll ever be," Heizou said, offering you a stupidly charming smile. "I'm psyched, I can't wait to solve this case."
     "Me neither," you stated.
You listened together as the group went over the final details. Once again it was emphasized how important it was to stick together at all cost, and you weren't looking forward to being stuck with Heizou all the time but you knew there was no way out. Maybe it would actually work out, two top detectives working together despite one disliking the other. You just had to stay professional and not let your pettiness get in the way of your investigation.
It didn't take long for everyone to finish preparing for this particularly cold investigation, and soon everyone was good to go. Nervousness buzzed in the air, and the tension was palpable. Not only was this case already pretty dangerous on its own, since the suspect wasn't exactly a nice guy, the circumstances on Dragonspine would make it far worse. The inhospitable mountain was treacherous, with many dangers lurking beneath the alluring decor of shimmering snow and ice.
You glanced at the top of the mountain and swallowed. The top wasn't even visible, hidden from view by thick whirls of clouds. It was so high, and you would have to climb up there if you didn't want to miss a single clue.
"Does the mountain intimidate you?" Heizou asked, following your restless gaze.
What is it to you, you almost answered, but you didn't say it out loud. Your inner thoughts had yet to get used to the idea of being nicer to the prodigy detective. You flashed the male a troubled look instead and answered honestly.
"It does," you admitted. "Is it obvious?"
"To me it is," the cherry-haired replied. "It's okay, though. I'm a bit nervous to go up there too. But hey, you're not alone, I'm with you."
That's part of the problem, you bitterly thought, but you didn't quite believe in those words, as if they spoke of a truth that was no longer relevant. He offered you a grin and you looked at him in awe. Why was he so nice to you? And why weren't you repulsed by it?
     "Yeah," you muttered dismissively.
And then it was time to leave the safety of the camp. Time to venture deeper into the merciless cold. You tightened your scarf and followed the group as they moved towards the mountain. Everyone was silent, and the only sound that resonated was the sound of boots stomping over the crisp snow. You were solely focused on your surroundings, both to find clues as well as to memorize the path you took through the frostbitten landscape. Heizou seemed to do the same, his eyes scanning the wildlands that surrounded you eagerly.
It was beautiful, as if you entered the world of a true fairytale. Solemn pines stood tall, thick layers of snow covering the branches and the underbrush below. Brave winter flowers bloomed here and there, their meek colors peeking through the carpet of pure white reluctantly. The sky was gray and motionless, the sun invisible, and only the flurry of snowflakes that fluttered down brought some life to the silence of Mother Nature. The wind was icy, nipping at the few spots of skin that remained exposed teasingly. It was so cold, and you started to understand why not everyone dared to set foot on the mountain. Dragonspine was merciless as it greeted adventurers with its icy beauty.
After what felt like hours of walking, you reached the central camp that was set up for the team of detectives. From this point, the various teams would spread over the mountain and search for evidence. You had been excited beforehand, but your motivation to solve this case had diminished rapidly. It was so cold, it felt like a snowstorm had the landscape in its grip, the chilly win tugging on your hair and biting at your cheeks. You were exhausted, and wanted nothing but to flop down onto something that was remotely comfortable.
"I want to set up our camp a little higher," Heizou stated suddenly, pointing at the map he showed you. "Looks like there's already a small camp here, and my intuition tells me that we might find something interesting here."
You looked at him incredulously. Was he for real? He wanted to travel up the mountain even further? Away from the central camp? You didn't like it one bit, but you knew to never take a detective's intuition in doubt. Hesitantly, you agreed and followed your companion as he strayed away from the others. At least someone was still motivated to solve this, you thought.
You had no idea how long it took to reach the camp the cherry-haired detective mentioned, but if you were exhausted before, you really felt like you were about to collapse any minute. Though he had persevered bravely until now, Heizou didn't look any better.
He was obviously as tired as you were, his eyes dull and his movements a bit sluggish. There was a thin layer of snow resting on his shoulders and hood, and where the wind had bitten his exposed skin, it was bright red. His breaths came out labored, and they escaped in tiny clouds that whirled up higher and higher until they dispersed.
"Whew, we're here," he remarked, laughing tiredly.
"I hope you're happy now," you murmured. Your attempts to be nicer to him were forgotten, and you were kind of salty at him now that he made you walk so much.
"Let's take it easy for now," the male suggested, ignoring your comment. "You set up the camp and I'll look around to see if I can find anything that indicates our suspect might be near."
Oh right, the suspect. The guy who was labeled as dangerous, not afraid to use violence. You suddenly realized that you were on the same mountain as exactly that man, and the thought made you shudder. You had seen the trial of misery he left behind, you knew what he was capable of. It wasn't pretty. You were dealing with a wanted criminal here, who would go through great lengths to escape the authorities.
"You're scared," Heizou pointed out. There was nothing mocking about his tone, he was simply stating an observation he made.
"Well, this man is the real deal, you know," you sighed. "And we're in his vicinity, I can feel it."
"Criminals who don't want to get caught usually don't attack first," the male reassured you. "But I'll keep watch tonight, and if he tries something funny, I have a Vision. I'll protect us."
You didn't know how he achieved it, but his words made you feel safe. Maybe he was annoying at times, but Shikanoin Heizou was slowly proving himself to be a reliable companion out here on the icy mountain.
"You're right," you answered, and for the first time you offered him a smile. "Go ahead then, I'll set up the camp. Let me know if you find something."
He looked genuinely surprised, but then he gladly reciprocated the smile before both of you got to work. You grabbed Heizou's backpack, and couldn't help the groan that escaped your lips. It was super heavy. You suddenly felt bad for letting him carry it all the way, and mentally promised him that you would take it on the way back.
Setting up a camp wasn't all that hard. The only thing that made it a bit challenging was your tiredness, but all with all you managed to do it quite quickly. Most of it was thanks to the permanent tents that stood here and there, free to use for adventurers – and now detectives. You only had to cover the tent a bit more and put down your sleeping bags onto the bed of straw.
"There's nothing to see," Heizou stated after reuniting with you, right when you were trying to start a little campfire.
"So your intuition was wrong?" you asked lightly, and you couldn't help the slight teasing tone in your voice.
"I'm too tired for that right now," the detective complained, squatting down next to you. "I really hope I won't accidentally fall asleep while keeping watch."
"You said it's safe. I trust you, so you can go to sleep if you want," you simply said. "Say, why don't you have a pyro Vision? That would be so useful right now."
"Hey, nothing wrong with anemo," the male countered, feigning offense. "You just don't know how to start a fire. Here, allow me."
Soon, a cozy fire sat in front of you. You relished in the warmth that radiated off of it, and you closed your eyes in relief. Finally your long day was over. Finally you could rest. The crackling of the sparks that flew up high cast a soothing sound through the eerie silence, and for a moment it felt like an ordinary camping trip instead of a dangerous mission. You sat like that for a while, listening to Heizou as he told you about peculiar cases he had worked on in the past. Some of his stories were downright funny and absurd and you found yourself laughing out loud more than once.
Camping with Heizou wasn't all that bad, you decided.
"Have you ever heard of the case of the vengeful spirit of Dragonspine? It all happened on a dark, snowy night," he spoke, lowering his voice.
A vengeful spirit? You shuddered at the thought. Why did he suddenly switch to scary stories? You had felt so cozy while listening to everything he told you and now you suddenly felt goosebumps running over your skin.
"No thanks, I'll pass," you huffed, shrugging off your boots and getting into your sleeping bag. "If you're going to start telling ghost stories, it's time for me to sleep. Goodnight."
Heizou laughed, bright and melodic.
     "Goodnight, Y/N."
You had expected to feel scared as you tried to sleep. After all, you were out in the open in the barren lands on an unknown mountain that harbored many dangers and hazards. Yet, the feeling of anxiety wasn't there at all. You were a bit restless, probably too tired to fall asleep properly, but that was all. It was because of the cherry-haired male, you realized. He was watching over you, making sure harm would stay away.
Maybe you finally started to warm up to him.
                    ✧✧✧
Dragonspine was truly beautiful in the meek morning sunshine. The faint rays of light that peeked through the thick pack of gray clouds bathed the icy landscape in a faint glow, and the sunkissed snow glittered prettily. The weak didn't do much to bring warmth to the cold air but it was still very welcome to add a bit of life to the barren surroundings.
Everything around you seemed to be covered in at least a thin layer of snow, and the snowflakes that fluttered down from the sky above brought forth even more of the fresh white that fell upon everything in its wake. It was making it hard – or nearly impossible – to find anything related to the man you were looking for. Every trace that was left behind ended up covered by snow in the blink of an eye, and there wasn't much left to find.
You sat squatted down at a small abandoned camp near the one you slept in, trying to find anything that hinted at recent use, but it wasn't much to your surprise that you found nothing. It had been going on like that all morning, and you slowly started to grow frustrated.
Heizou, who was searching a little distance away from you, got up and cursed under his breath. He pulled off his hood, raking a gloved hand through his cherry hair with a groan.
"The snow is covering up literally everything," he lamented, walking over to you. "I hate to admit it, but the suspect has the advantage now."
"Are you for once having trouble finding anything?" you joked lightly, partly to cope with your own feeling of hopelessness.
"Very funny," Heizou deadpanned, giving you a pointed look. "I never struggle with my investigation, but this mountain is truly giving me a hard time."
There it was again, the prodigy detective being full of himself. You wanted to heave out a sigh but kept yourself from actually doing so. It was simply how he was, and you shouldn't attack him for that – and on top of that, you totally understood his frustration.
"Do you think we should take a little break?" you suggested, but the other detective resolutely shook his head.
"I don't see how that will benefit us," he reasoned. "I have this nagging feeling that something is going to happen and I don't want to rest until I figure it out."
You nodded in understanding. Once a detective's intuition kicked in, they refused to take a break, which made perfect sense; you couldn't simply ignore your gut feeling, especially when it was so often right. One of the things you had learned about Heizou before you actually met him was how he was known for his keen intuition, so of course he trusted it blindly. Your intuition, however, was suspiciously quiet, so you got up and dusted the thin layers of snow off your coat.
"I get it," you replied, straightening your form. "I hope you don't mind but I'm gonna take a break."
"Be careful," Heizou warned. "I don't trust this."
There was a frown on his features as he glanced around and you felt a tinge of anxiety in your stomach. He was awfully serious as his eyes nervously skimmed over his surroundings. Something was off, and it was as if your own gut feeling finally caught up.
"Okay, maybe I'll just stay close to you," you said, your voice small. There was a shift in the atmosphere, it was palpable and it put you on edge.
What exactly happened? Last time you checked you were simply bummed because the snow covered up all the possible traces that you needed to get closer to your suspect, and suddenly anxiety had started to stir in the pit of your stomach. Heizou had decided he didn't trust it, and his nervousness was contagious.
Wasn't it funny? You went from disliking the male to fully trusting his intuition, and all in the span of the less-than-24 hours you spent on this mountain.
"I like that a lot better," the cherry-haired male muttered. "Let's go back to our camp. Maybe I can use a little break after all, to think this over."
You felt a little relieved, now that he agreed on taking a break with you. All the talking about something that was supposedly about to happen had creeped you out and you felt too nervous to stay behind on your own. They had told you how dangerous it was, they repeated it multiple times, but it was as if you only now realized the weight of those words. This mountain was not to be trusted, nor was the man you were after.
"Right," you agreed, and you followed right behind the detective as he trudged through the snow.
You could see he had a lot on his mind; he even forgot to glance around to keep an eye on his surroundings. You knew it all too well, having an ominous feeling in the pit of your stomach, an omen that foretold that something was about to happen. It was often right, but never was it clear what would happen. Heizou was anxious, but he fell into the trap and got caught up in his own thoughts instead of keeping his mind clear.
But your mind was also clouded, and the sudden downfall of snowflakes obscured your sight. You didn't see much at all, and you kept your eyes focused on Heizou's back as you followed him silently. It wasn't much of a walk to get back to the camp, but with the thick layer of snow covering the ground it felt like a whole hike.
Suddenly you lost your footing, the sole of your boot slipping away over the slippery ice hidden underneath the layer of snow. Your surroundings spun as you fell to the ground, and you shrieked when a sharp pain shot through your ankle. You collided with the ground with a force that knocked the wind out of your lungs and you gasped for air frantically, tears pricking in your eyes.
Heizou was next to you within a heartbeat, falling to his knees to check up on you without a second thought.
"Y/N, are you alright?" he hurriedly asked, worry etched onto his features.
You groaned in misery as your hands clasped around your ankle, but it did little to nothing to soothe the pain. When you finally managed to breathe properly again you still struggled to speak up because it hurt so damn much. So you just shook your head, gritting your teeth to keep yourself from moaning in pain.
Heizou cursed under his breath, and for a moment he looked utterly helpless as he witnessed you writhe in pain. But he seemed to recollect himself as he leaned over you, gently slipping his arms underneath your knees and shoulders. You stiffened, gazing at the star detective with wide eyes. Even now, with bolts of hot pain shooting through your leg and foot, the crimson that dusted your cheeks was inevitable. He picked you up bridal-style with surprisingly much ease and it really amazed you how strong the male was – despite looking quite frail, not gonna lie.
"I hope you don't mind, Y/N," he apologized, offering you an awkward smile. "I need to get you back to our camp to check your ankle properly."
"N-No, go ahead," you replied, and you couldn't bear to look him in the eyes any longer. Not when it was so obvious how utterly flushed both of you were.
Your heart was beating rapidly, but you blamed it on the pain that surged through your ankle and the shock that came with suddenly falling. It surely had nothing to do with the fact that a stupidly pretty detective was carrying you through the fairytale-like landscape, his green eyes never leaving your face. Every time your face contorted in pain, he frowned – it seemed that he was really worried about you, and it made you feel bad for being so quick to judge him at first.
Once he safely brought you to your shared camp, he lowered you onto his sleeping bag as gently as he could.
It didn't take long to find out that your ankle was sprained pretty badly, and you started to realize that the pain wouldn't just go away magically within a few minutes. No, this would take a good while to heal. To your horror, Heizou had pointed out that you most likely wouldn't be able to continue your investigation in your current shape, and your mood was grim.
"This isn't good, Y/N," Heizou told you, his eyes flickering away from your ankle to meet yours. "We don't have the right supplies for this, so we have to go back to the central camp."
"You're probably right," you muttered in defeat. "But what about our investigation?"
"I don't know about you, but my priorities shifted," the detective spoke resolutely. He moved around a little, so that his back was facing you. "We're leaving immediately, hop on."
You stared at the male's back incredulously. Was he for real? What happened to the awkward interactions? The aversion, the dismay you felt towards him, his urge to show his very best with every case he was working on? Did it all just go down the drain? Something had changed between the two of you, that wasn't hard to tell. But what exactly was it? You felt more opposed the longer you stared at his back, but at the same time the idea sounded kind of inviting.
You gave in with a sigh, timidly placing your hands on his shoulders as he hoisted you further up his back. A little wobbly, he rose to his feet and rested his hands under your thighs to keep you in place as he started walking. You clung to his back for dear life, finding it incredibly hard to relax in your current position, but after a while you came to find it wasn't as bad as you thought. Actually, you were kind of comfortable up there, despite the pain you were currently in. Alright, you were blushing like a madman because you were so close to him but that was totally besides the point. After a while you even dared to rest your chin atop his shoulder as you went along with the cadence of his footsteps, and the detective didn't seem to mind.
"I knew something bad was going to happen," the cherry-haired male sighed as he carried you through the snow.
"Shikanoin Heizou's intuition was proven right once more," you said, scrunching up your nose as his hair tickled your cheek.
"I told you, I'm always right," Heizou replied, and you could hear the faint smirk in his voice. But then he added, "I just had no idea it would involve you getting hurt," and you could tell the grin had vanished again.
It was quite a walk to get to the central camp, and you felt bad for Heizou, seeing how he had to carry you through the capricious snowy wildlands. You could tell he was getting tired, his pace slowed and his breathing got heavier, and he had to stop and hoist you up more and more often. Yeah, you felt really bad, but you knew you couldn't help it. You both simply had to endure it until you got to the camp.
"Alright, we're here," the detective announced after what felt like hours of walking, letting you down with a groan.
He had placed you under the blue canvas covers of one of the tents, blissfully out of reach of the snowflakes that fluttered down from the gray cloudy sky. They pestered you the entire hike back to the camp, to a point where your cheeks were red and frostbitten. There was a campfire right in front of the open part of the tent, and you basked in the warmth that radiated off of it. Now all that brought you discomfort was the everlasting pain in your ankle, and you winced when you tried to change your position.
"Alright, wait here. Let me get the first-aid kit from that adventurer over there. I'll fix you up," the detective announced, straightening his composure and walking off.
As if I'm going anywhere, you bitterly thought.
You were stuck in a damn camp on Dragonspine, not able to participate in this important investigation any longer. The Tenryou Commission had expected great things from you and your assigned partner, but you messed up and failed because of a stupid accident.
There was no one inside the camp, aside from a few members of the Adventurer's Guild, Heizou, and you. All the other detectives were out, searching for clues that would lead them to the culprit. Your mood fell sour even more. You had been beyond excited to work on this case – Archons, you even accepted Shikanoin Heizou as your partner despite the irritation you used to feel towards him. But it was game over for you.
"You don't look very happy," the detective commented as he placed the first-aid kit next to you. "How are you feeling?"
"No shit," you reacted, fighting the urge to roll your eyes and respond with a snarky remark. "I'm in pain and I can't continue our work. I feel like crap."
Your tone was quite harsh, for the frustration and sheer disappointment you felt were overflowing. But Heizou didn't seem to mind. If anything, he gave you a look of understanding as he quietly got to work on your ankle. It was already red and swollen, throbbing painfully. As much of a relief as it was when the detective removed your boot, you now felt like crying and cursing every time his tentative fingertips put pressure on your skin as he wrapped a bandage around your injured foot. It was sprained badly, it seemed, and it didn't matter how gentle Heizou tried to be.
"At least it won't be hard to apply an ice pack to your ankle with all this snow around," the cherry-haired male remarked, his eyes skimming over the bandages to make sure everything was secure.
"Oh, right, let me just stick my ankle into the snow, I'm sure it will help," you replied bitterly. You knew he was only joking, but you weren't in the mood for that.
"Someone gets a little irritable," Heizou pointed out, setting the first-aid kit aside and flopping down next to you. His arm ghosted past yours – that's how close he was to you – and your heart skipped a beat.
"I just started warming up to you," you warned him, ignoring the blush that crept up your cheeks as you shot him a sharp look. "Don't become an annoying ass again."
Everything you said came out a lot meaner than you intended and you felt a tinge of guilt. You felt pretty miserable but you knew it wasn't fair at all to take it out on the star detective, who had been nothing but nice to you ever since you arrived on Dragonspine. Even now, when there was an important case to solve, he took his time to take care of you instead.
"I'm sorry," you muttered. "I guess it's the pain and the disappointment that drive me a little crazy. I really appreciate what you're doing for me."
But Heizou only shot you a grin, a surprisingly smug one at that. His green eyes twinkled mischievously as he reached out, placing his gloved thumb under your chin.
"Oh? You started warming up to me?" he lightly questioned you, lowering his voice. "I'm glad to hear that, Y/N."
You forgot all that had been on your mind previously. It went blank, no thoughts and head empty, and you were on the brink of freaking out because Heizou was looking at you like that, with his stupidly charming smile and his green eyes with those pretty moles underneath them – Archons, he was handsome. It was unfair how much of an effect he seemed to have on you, and you tried to calm your frantic heartbeat.
Mission impossible.
Heizou chuckled, slowly withdrawing his finger and leaning back. You relaxed a little, but you were fully aware of the furious blush on your cheeks and you refused to look at him. What in Celestia's name was he doing? Barely a few days ago he was pissing you off so badly, but things changed and you were slowly being drawn in by his charms. Oh no, that wasn't part of the plan.
"Don't make me regret it," you huffed out, shifting your position while trying not to move your ankle. Your mind was still foggy; what just happened?
You knew you dropped the disliking you had felt towards him, but you were supposed to simply tolerate him for your current investigation and nothing more than that. This wasn't supposed to happen. This was bad. You shouldn't be into him.
It was cold on Dragonspine, but you felt warm on the inside when he smiled at you. Archons, this wasn't good.
The two of you sat in silence for a good while. You glanced around, taking in as much of your beautiful surroundings as you could while trying to ignore the throbbing pain in your ankle. Heizou finally gave you a break and was currently immersed in some notes other detectives took while investigating. People arrived at the camp all day long, whether it was to stock up on food and water or to exchange notes with the other detectives, before they left again. You witnessed it all, full of bitterness since you could no longer partake.
     "Heizou?" you called out.
"Hm?" the detective vaguely replied, glancing up from his notes.
"Shouldn't you…" you started, not quite sure how to phrase it. "Shouldn't you go up the mountain again? To continue investigating there?"
The cherry-haired male resolutely shook his head.
"And leave you alone? No way. Didn't they say that assigned partners should stick together at all costs?"
It didn't add up. You knew Heizou always preferred to work alone, to be able to operate without the risk of being held back by others, relying on no one but his own intuition. And here he was, refusing to get back to work because you were unable to participate. That was not like him at all. What was it that made him act so out of character? You didn't know him that well but you deemed him the type to ignore the dire call to stick together with much ease, yet here he was.
"Are you sure?" you asked meekly.
He simply nodded.
Heizou stayed true to his words, and remained by your side until the very first trip back to Inazuma. You were surprised, to say the least. He took care of you, spent a lot of time talking to you and seemed quite content to do so, he barely left your side even when others came to him for help – you knew he didn't really like having to work together so this didn't surprise you all that much.
On the boat back to Inazuma, as you swayed along with the cadence of the gentle waves, you came to a conclusion. You and Heizou had a rough start, he didn't necessarily show you his best side but he made up for that big time.
Shikanoin Heizou was a nice guy behind that mask of big ego he wore. You realized how much you got drawn to him during your time on Dragonspine, and there was no longer a point in denying it.
You had fallen for the Tenryou Commission's prodigy detective.
               ✧✧✧
You still walked with a limp in your step as you strolled through the streets of Inazuma City, even though it was already a while ago that you got back from your expedition to the icy mountain, where it all happened.
Said adventure didn't go well for you at all. You barely lasted a day on Dragonspine before an unfortunate accident put an end to your usual productivity and you spent the remaining days stuck in a camp – you didn't like it one bit and it was pleasant to be back home.
It wasn't all for nothing, though. Next to you walked a certain cherry-haired detective, who hardly left your side ever since you got back. You didn't realize how close you had gotten over the time you spent on the mountain, but it got to a point where holding hands became a regular thing. The feeling of the palm of his hand against yours, the pads of his fingers ghosting over your knuckles, it all felt so much better without those padded gloves in the way.
The downside was that you could blame the cold no longer for the crimson that crept up your cheeks more than once. Getting closer to Heizou also meant being the victim of his merciless flirting way more often, but you secretly didn't mind all that much.
Wasn't it funny how things worked out? You thought back to how you disliked him, how you had even begged your superior to let you switch partners because you refused to work with him. Now you were grateful that he refused your plea. None of this would have happened, you wouldn't have this sweet and handsome – and incredibly flirty – detective next to you.
You didn't like that thought at all.
"Does walking still hurt?" Heizou inquired, giving you a sideways glance. He didn't miss the way you were still limping, and his arm flew up to support you.
"A little," you truthfully replied. "But I'm fine."
But your grimace gave you away immediately, and Heizou shook his head as he gently urged you towards a wooden bench along the path. You wouldn't admit it on your own accord, but you were more than happy to give your ankle a little break.
"I know the doctor said you can carefully put some weight on your ankle again, but that doesn't mean you can walk around like nothing ever happened," the star detective lightly scolded you.
You smiled sheepishly. Sitting still and doing nothing wasn't something you were good at, and the past few weeks had been a real challenge to you. Even with the detective often coming over to your house, it was still bothersome and your own house had become your confinement. You were so glad to finally be out, and you could probably take on light detective jobs soon.
"I just can't help it," you sighed. "I'm so happy to be outside again. It feels like I've been locked up for ages."
"You're adorable," Heizou commented, giving you a fond look. It seemed completely out of the blue, but that was a regular thing for the prodigy detective.
You averted your gaze, finding a recent newspaper next to you on the bench. You reached out to take it in your hands, seeing how it was a nice distraction from the effect the male's remarks had on you. The headline on the front page instantly caught your eye.
Suspect found, arrested, and proven guilty in the Dragonspine case, it read, and you presented it to the cherry-haired male next to you.
"It could've been you, Heizou," you said softly. "You could've been the one who caught him."
Heizou's green eyes scanned the news article quickly, a frown settling on his brows as he read the latest updates on the case he once worked on. It was quite a lengthy article and you weren't sure whether or not he was reading it, so you held up the newspaper awkwardly until he averted his gaze.
"Took them long enough," he muttered, his eyes finding yours. "It could have been me, and believe me, I would have done it a lot faster. But it wasn't me and that's only because I stepped back to stay with you."
You pursed your lips. Even now, after being back in Inazuma for two weeks, you still felt really bad about that. You felt like you ruined it for him, no matter how many times he reassured you that it was fine.
     "I'm sorry," you sighed.
The male's next move stilled your apology. He leaned towards you, gently taking the newspaper from your hands and putting it down onto the bench. Then he reached up, bringing his hands to cup your cheeks ever so gently. You froze, eyes widening as your heartbeat hit a way too high level. He was close, so close, and he looked at you so solemnly and you were mesmerized.
"Y/N, listen," he spoke slowly – wait, were you just imagining things or were his cheeks dusted pink?"As I said before, I regret nothing. After all, I found something way more valuable than a wanted criminal."
"What is it?" you whispered, unable to look away.
You were out on the streets of Inazuma, people were walking around and you were definitely being seen by everyone, but you hardly noticed and were simply too caught up in the moment.
Then Heizou flashed you a cheeky grin, closed the last remaining distance between you two, and pressed a soft kiss to your forehead.
     "Love," he replied, smiling.
Then he let go of you, and he got up from the bench before walking away, a light skip in his step. You were far from okay, completely taken aback by what just happened. There was pure static in your mind, your heart set a frantic drum beat rhythm in your chest. Did Heizou really just kiss you?
You knew something had been building up between the two of you, but you hadn't realized that it would lead to this.
You were in no shape to chase him so you just sat there, utterly stupefied. It felt like you were afloat somewhere on cloud nine. Weeks ago you disliked the male, but it seemed that a lot had changed between the detective and you and it wasn't just you – he knew it too.
Stupid ankle, you thought. You wanted nothing but to follow after him immediately, but you stood no chance and you suspected that it was all part of his plan.
You truly couldn't wait to see him again. Who knew what would come from it?

Imagine Heizou just hugging you 😭
Like, you’re in a bad mood or just stressed and he is holding you tight and comforting you
He doesn’t tease or play around, he just whispers comforting words in you ear as he rubs up and down your back soothingly
“It’s okay, my love. I’m here…”
“No need to feel upset, we can sort things out later. So don’t worry your pretty little heart.”
“We’ll get through it together, I’ll help you relax.”
He kisses your forehead, your cheeks and let you hide your face in the crook of his neck
If you need something, he’ll get it right away. Snacks? He’s got it. Cuddles in bed? He’ll cradle you tight and lovingly. Bubble bath to relax your muscles? He’s on the job
Heizou may be a tease and a playful guy, but he will always comfort you and make you feel loved (and he will also make sure you’re not stressed or sad or anything - he won’t stop until you’re smiling)

i was wondering if i could do a request? so you know how gorou was in heizou's hangout event and was kind of annoyed? i read it as he's jealous of the traveller being with heizou. so what if there was some kind of love triangle/ one getting possessive the reader? i dont care which one is the main focus, and nsfw is cool too :)
Jealousy jealousy Shikanoin Heizou x Reader x Gorou warning : contains major spoilers about Shikanoin Heizou’s Hangout. (SFW)
Tysm for this req. I didn’t make it as nsfw bc I’m out of ideas. I hope you like this fluff I made. 😟🖐
“Say, Traveler. Do you have a special connection with General Gorou?”
“What do you mean?” You turned to the detective who was already looking at you.
Detective Shikanoin Heizou, of the Tenryou Commission. You just met him recently, maybe three to four days ago. When you met him, you helped him find the answer to his dream that he had one night at Watatsumi Island. And because of that, you were able to get along with him easily.
“What I mean is, if you’re in a special and established relationship with the General.” He pointed at you with his index finger, then pointed at somewhere, which was nowhere, still, you were certain that he pointed at the direction of Sangonomiya Shrine where you and him last met the General he was talking about.
“Like, if we’re lover or something?” You asked, and he nodded.  “—No, why?”
“Was just wondering. You know, as a detective, it’s a force of habit to observe everything and everyone around me. And, four days ago, I couldn’t help but to notice something in him.” He explained in the most enthusiastic way, smiling like a proud detective who finished solving a case.
“And that something is?”
He then smirked and placed both of his hands on his waist, “He surely dislikes my presence. Especially when I’m around you. —Traveler, I know you noticed yesterday. That he had this.. annoyed demeanor he hid with a fake stressed and tired one.”
“I mean yeah, he could possibly be tired.” He then moved his hands to his head, “But I am certain that the lingering annoyance of his, towards me, is far more higher. Hehe.” His eyes were almost closed when he giggled.
“But.. why do you sound happy about it?” You awkwardly asked because, if that was you who was sure someone dislikes your existence, you would probably begin to think what you’ve possibly done wrong in their point of view. You would overthink, not be happy and giggly like him.
“Not to look judgmental, I just find it funny, really.” He let out a quiet chuckle and tilted his head to the side.
“How come you find it funny? I wouldn’t. That’s concerning, I’m concerned for you, and General Gorou.” Indeed you are. You wouldn’t like two friends disliking each other’s existence because of you.
“Awe, you’re concerned for me?” He chuckled once again and leaned in to you. “No wonder why General Gorou likes you. You’re sweet, caring, strong, and all. I already see why he got jealous when he saw you with me.”
Now where did that ‘jealous’ came from? You asked yourself, feeling completely clueless about what he’s saying. Your eyes darted at his face, directly on his moles not so far under his emerald green eyes. You’ve always thought they were pretty. —you stretched your back to create more space so that he wouldn’t be too close to you, not like you’re disgusted, but because you were afraid of something happening. ‘Cause there’s possibilities.
“And to be honest, I would get jealous too. If I saw you with him.” And that comment of his made your knees weak from standing and made you lose balance and stumble from where you stood.  Luckily, with how close Heizou was to you, there was enough time for him to catch you by your waist and pull you back to his chest. He also held your hand to pull you close to him, now you look like you’re dancing waltz in Watatsumi Island’s magnificent fairytale-like view.
“Was I too close? Man alive, I got too distracted by your dreamy face.  He then laughed light heartedly.
Dreamy face.
Now the face of yours, in which he called dreamy, was burning in embarrassment and fluster. His mouth speaks too light, he sounds like he’s not even shy giving you compliments in such open space, as well as to speak with his face close to yours.
You scrunched your eyes close and furrow your eyebrows, turning your head to look away so that he wouldn’t inspect your furiously blushing face. —Although, he already scanned your face before you could even look away—, the reason why he’s laughing while having his arm around you.
And no, he did not do this mindlessly. His comments about you are pure with sincerity and he would love to shower you more. But he has one reason why he all of the sudden became flirty. It’s because from the side of his eyes, he saw the General standing from not so far away while talking to his subordinates. Who knows what they’re talking about. But Heizou was certain that Gorou is looking at the two of you while sharing speech.
And indeed he was. He’s been looking the whole time.
“General Gorou? Are you alright? Do you feel sick—we can take you back?” His comrades asked in concern but the General didn’t seem to be listening. He was too focused on the sly detective and his arm around around your waist. He truly disliked it. He despise it. He felt salty.
‘Does he wear that Tenryou Commission uniform with that odd way of letting his arms out from his sleeves to show off? Seriously—“
“General? General—?” Suddenly, a hand waved right in front of him, it disturbed his thought and made him snap back to reality.
“S-sorry, what I was saying is, the traveler and Detective Heizou will be looking out for a certain caravan they saw.” Gorou said, exaggerating the name of the detective in disgust.
May Her Excellency forgive him for being this judgmental today, but he just really despises the detective with his everything.
And this is why he won’t ever trust the Tenryou Commission, and it’s people. Ever.
