for the record I think wind turbines are beautiful and are not a stain on any landscape and the sounds they make are beautiful and whenever I see one I am filled with love for human innovation and hope for the future of clean energy and if they needed to be built close to my house I would go YAYY ^_^ WAHOO ^_^ WIND TURBINE!!

Dogstock are typical of what are often deemed the ‘evil’ races in many other fantasy works. They were created by some higher force to be slaves, they are carnivorous by nature, they resemble animals other than human in dentition and build. They growl and bite and walk behind.

The Uhasr (a dogstock culture) are descendants of such slave-infantry that was abandoned when the empire that used them to capture the steppes decided the land wasn’t so profitable after all, and more pressing matters drew their attention elsewhere. Like tools left spent on the ground, the unneeded, excess dogstock were left to survive on their own in Hochkiskuph. The native peoples, of course, did not welcome them any more, or see them any less as oppressors when the hand released the lead. To the Hochkiskuph peoples, the Uhasr are a predatory ghost, an echo that consumes them even in absentia. To the Uhasr, one human is much like another, differing in number and equipment, but never in essence. Uhasr are a species of wild animal with a human face. Humans are prey on two legs. Humans smoke and poison uncovered dens on principle, Uhasr abduct and consume men and women and children all the same.

A common trend I have noticed in media which aims to humanize monsters, is that it often relies on passivity. Humanity is contingent upon kindness. The monster that is A Person only so long as they are a harmless thing at heart, something which can be understood and befriended. Their violence is reluctant, their hearts noble. Grace is a concession to the dominated. Only the toothless beast, declawed and pinioned and caged, is one which has earned its personhood. The ontological enemy supersedes the ontological man.

idk call me crazy i guess but i am not worried about miss marisol at all.

we have gone through A Lot worse.. we can get through this.

and if i am being super honest? i think it is important eddie does have something with her, even if that lasts or not. this is the first time eddie has chosen someone he likes and Not just for the sake of others (marrying shannon because she was pregnant, asking ana out because everyone told him to, going on dates because his pepa made him, etc)

and yea sure, he is still coming at it all wrong (literally bobby telling him about how he met athena and eddie saying "so you definitely weren't looking for it" and then the next second he sees marisol and says "this is exactly what i was looking for" oh diaz my love you are so, so repressed,,) but it is still a very important thing that he needs to have happen.

anyway, i don't believe it will last all that long, and it'll help him realize that love isn't something you find / go looking for, but it is something you build with someone else.

also think eddie needs to have a call similar to the gay couple gay in 'buck, actually' to really drive that point home

Okay it’s been a week since I watched the series finale of Clone Wars. And like, of all the deaths I have seen in Star Wars, I don’t any of them have disturbed me as much as Jesse’s. Like yeah, there was Fives and Tech (that one is arguable), and there was Nemik from Andor, but there was just something about Jesse the ARC Trooper in his final moments.

And I know the obvious answer is the inhibitor chip, there’s no way to talk around it because it’s the reason he died along with so many clones. But it was just, I dunno, the way he behaved when it was activated. The way that, even when the entire venator was going down and there were no chance of surviving unless on an escape pod or shuttle, he was just desperately (and I say that because that is what it felt like to me) trying to get to Rex and Ahsoka to execute them. Because he believed that was more important then the survival of his men and himself.

I believe that Jesse without the chip would have kriffed the order and made sure as much as his brothers made it off the venator as possible, even if it was evident that Rex and Ahsoka were traitors.

Look, I know that’s the whole point of the chips. That they took away everything that made the clones who they were, and made them… meat droids (ugh I seriously dislike that label). Blindly follow orders, even at the cost of the self.

the only scarless demersa i can really tolerate much is LTI Timeline Demersa and that's pmuch only bc of the Entertainment Value in charlie being as weirded out every second he's looking at her as one should be

As I look at Tales of Monkey Island for the umpteenth time at work, I really really reaaaaaaaaaaally can't stop thinking how Guybrush has two tones (his snark tone and his sincere tone) and how Morgan was (so far) the only one to invoke a third, rarely used, tone: pure anger

Like... okay, let me put it like this: when he's around strangers or someone he doesn't know/trust, he has that sort of jolly but snarky tone. He says things with a smile, sometimes schmoozing up, and a bit of a backhanded remark. It's noticeable with Bugeye, DeCava, DeSinge, and initially Morgan.

(Of course, unless the person in question really deserves his snark, then he's just an overall menace and will not hold back.)

Versus when he's sincere. He still smiles, but it's kinder, he speaks a lot softer, he jokes, but there's a lot more questions about someone's well-being before he presses on about the current quest he's on. It's absolutely noticeable when he talks to Elaine and later on with Winslow and Morgan.

Now, Guybrush had been mutinied multiple times in series, he's almost used to it (e.g. his initial meeting with Winslow wanting to join his crew). He's used to doing things alone, and it was mentioned that Tales is the game to teach Guybrush that its okay to open up and know that he has people that care and want to help.... getting a network and all that.

And he does, by opening up to Winslow and eventually Morgan, you can see him getting used to having friends that genuinely care and help and it makes Morgan's betrayal hurt all the more because in his mind, his reward to opening up was getting knocked out, stop his time-sensitive quest and get dragged back to Flotsam for cash.

By someone he thought was his friend.

It freaking hurts. And all this to say that Guybrush has never used a tone that was so openly malicious because it came from hurt and anger instead of annoyance. And we can see it in his expression! And I am feral about it, like:

Initially focused on one thing...

...to snark....

...to anger.

And he just straight up doesn't relent on berating Morgan. Normally Guybrush makes a snide remark/insult and calls it day. Morgan is the only character that he lashes out verbally, not even giving her a chance to counter.

And I am living for this.
