So, I decided to rewatch ep 10 again, and it actually becomes more painful with every rewatch guys. It's so well done, definately one of my fav episodes other than ep 6 and 3rd and 4th part of ep 7. Babe crying asking for Charlie, wanting, needing him back, not giving two shits about the powers he regained, something which were so important to him, something that made him "Pit Babe", 'cause he no longer want to be anything but his lover's "phi babe". This paralleling to ep 5 of Babe saying if he can't race, he won't be anything. It's the way, Babe could finally race now without having any hindrance, but he can't. It's the way the powers he used to boost are something so annoying and undesirable 'cause their return is a reminder that Charlie is dead. It's the way Charlie once in ep 2(?) said to way, "I am just a sex partner, what a person like me be?", maybe an excuse back then but still painful considering how so many times Charlie gets refered to be someone inferior, inferior to babe, and he is not even bothered by it 'cause he himself knows he is nothing to babe. It's the way he expected Babe to get bored of him, it's the way he didn't expect anything back. This paralleling to Babe saying he misses him, he loves him, and he doesn't want to forget him, ever. The way he was breaking down, every part of his heart crying for Charlie, it's the way he talks to the grave as if Charlie can really hear him, it's the way he wants to keep those gloves, as a reminder that Charlie existed and his existence changed his fucking life, a reminder that he loves Charlie and will always do. It's the way he carried those gloves, looking at those, always tearing up thinking about his beloved, everywhere. I can't stop thinking about the fact that he most probably slept hugging those gloves during their time apart. So much grief, so much guilt, so much love and care for that person who thought he was replaceable and he was not even there to witness it. I will never get over how Babe got over Way so soon 'cause he had a place to go back to, an embrace to hold him, a safe space, a genuine lover but when he was gone, he wanted to embrace him, wanted to kiss away his pain, wanted to be his safe space but couldn't because the other is lifeless. "I am sorry I always talked bad to you", it's the way I always end up saying "no love you didn't" 'cause it was not his fault and Charlie knows that. But one moment which always makes me loose it, is when he says "why aren't you responding Charlie?". The denial is painful, obviously, but it's the way after all their arguments, it was always Charlie who apologised or tried to break off the tension, so, those words become so much more painful, 'cause it's like him saying, "what happened Charlie, why are you not coming to talk, why are you not saying anything, you never go silent on me, are you upset, should I be the one to apologise first this time, huh?, you will talk then, right?" And then the kiss.

This classic friends-to-lovers BL is everything Japan does best. Angsty. Emo. Aching. Driven by real thirst. Yamato is deeply in love with his childhood bestie, Kakeru, and has been for ages, unable to hide his ungainly damaging high school need. He wants Kakeru in every way possible and it oozes off of the screen. Kakeru is silly and a little simple, but not frenetic or overly camp about it. He is earnest, and genuinely wants to keep Yamato in his life which means giving a romance (and gayness) a fair chance. We watch him realize his affection and what form it can take in a truly authentic way. This show was impossibly kind to both of its lead characters and I felt almost honored that I got to watch something so lovely and rare play out on my screen.

This is a perfect short form KBL, an office set reunion romance featuring geeks that really suits 8 eps with no fluff and no chaff. Just comforting and yummy. I adored every aspect from the casting to the pristinely simple premise to the quietly smooth execution. Sure it’s low stakes, but that makes it high domesticity and extremely warm and gentle. This is a fuzzy blanket of a story - a cozy BL. It lives in my rewatch pile and you know what’s best about it? Every single episode is in that pile. There’s no skipping with this one, it might be good natured and calmly sweet but it’s tight and the pacing is excellent.

I don't hand out 10/10 often (over 700 BLs watched, stil don't hvae 10 10/10s yet), these both got that from me in 2023. I consider both of them perfect BLs.

My Personal Weatherman AKA Taikan Yoho

This style of live action yaoi really only works from Japan. Basically: boys who fell in love in college end up living together but both are so repressed they actually don't realize they're in love. It's higher heat than we usually get from Japan's HEA stuff, and that part is also very well done, but it leaned into the "why don't they just talk for fuck's sake?" trope which is only exacerbated into undiluted frustration by the fact that they're already fucking. It's great, but watching requires more patience than usual, even for Japan.

Our Dining Table AKA Bokura no Shokutaku

A lonely salaryman (+ talented cook) gets accidentally adopted by a college kid and his little brother. I was always gonna love this show if they stuck to the original yaoi (which is very dear to my heart). And they did! Paralleling it almost exactly. It’s a quiet & cozy little parable of found family alleviating loneliness. Possibly too slow for some but definitely high up there for me as the best of what Japan can do with softness (like Restart After Come Back Home). It’s only flaw (if I dare say such a thing) is that it is not really “romantic.” Lovely & sweet but the romance beats are being used to build a family relationship, not just couple intimacy, but that's OK with me. This is a very safe show for anyone to watch.

A delightful office romance about an ex-idol who joins cubical life only to find his new boss is his first love. Others boys are sniffing around too. Operative word being "sniffing" as much of this romance involves smell. With a snappy (sometimes even raunchy) script, enjoyable sides, a pretty as peaches cast, and descent chemistry this show made up for in style what it lacked in substance. I like fluff. I loved this. I smiled every moment I was watching. With tons of rewatch potential (especially the last few eps), my only caution is this is for fans of the BL genre only, I don’t think it’ll work for anyone else.

Love Tractor

Most of this country-set BL had me feral for the beautiful broken city boy and his hot young farmer. Hyung romance, puppy/cat pairing, open frankness meets jaded reserve, language play, water hose frolicking, only one bed, just all my favorite tropes. This show was basically a light-weight Restart After Come Back Home and I’m not even slightly mad about that. But (and you knew there was a “but” comg) something about the cringe of the final 2 eps and the impermanence of the ending (both of which highlight the fact that ultimately these 2 are I’ll-suited: too different and too far apart) left me with the feeling that they probably won’t last as a couple. However, in this case, rare for me, I forgive it this finale for my love of the rest.

The New Employee

So good, SO QUEER, so soft, a near pitch perfect office BL with conflict derived from that setting. Also found family and a lesbian bestie. Sweet & innocent (and out) Seung Hyun scores the office internship of his dreams. On his first day at work he gets into it with his cool reserved (and also v gay) boss. As you do. Frankly? This is what I wanted from this new crop of office set KBLs ALL ALONG. Rainbow rice cakes forever! Directed by queer activist Kim Jho Gwang Soo (Just Friends?) partly set in the same neighbourhood as the To My Star house. Gotta love WATCHA (Semantic Error, Light on Me).

Unintentional Love Story

OMG the plot, forced into a totally understandable betrayal, falling in love despite himself, put into a corner he can't get out of, the AGONY, the eyes EMOTING at us in PAIN A boy who just lost his job due to faked corruption charges accidentally discovers his ex-boss's favorite artist, now a recluse. Evil manager offers him his job back if he can convince the artist to rejoin society. Instead, they fall in love. I found the artist a bit stiff and reserved but Gongchan (maknae of B1A4) is a fucking GIFT - he carried this show (which I do not expect from the idol element). He was lumous with extraordinarily expressive eyes, just drown in the emoting abyss. The external conflict, social tension and pressure is complex and beautifully executed, plus Korea gave us legit side dishes (NOT a love triangle, hally-fucking-luya). I’m not sure on rewatchability, and it didn’t whip me into a verbal frenzy the way some KBLs do, but it still gets a solid 9/10 for those damn eyes alone.

A Breeze of Love

Tsundere insomniac grump reunited with his sunshine jock ex (human sleeping pill) who now hates him. Basketball is also involved. While the simplicity of a reunion plot makes this more cohesive than most KBLs, it is a tad stiff and slow, never managing to lift itself out of "pretty and pretty enjoyable" - I liked it but I don’t think I’m going to remember much about it.

Romance between an office worker the man from his past next door who cooks well. It was very sweet and cute tale of food as love in the All the Liquors family of KBL. I’m not wild about it, I did enjoy it, I was happy to have it show up on my dash, but ultimately it will simply become one of the KBL crowd.

Why R U?

(Korean adaptation of Thai original) iQIYI

Korea decided to remake, of all possible Thai BLs, Why RU? And that is exactly what we got: a short form, clean & pretty, slightly confusing, uneven chemistry, all the same tropes KBL that kind of cliff-noted the original but with none of the heat or complex relationship dynamics. I just … what world is this? Because it is BOTH bizarro land, and EXACTLY what I expected. How do I rate it? In the end I have to go back to simple questions: did I like it, would I rewatch it, and would I recommend it? Yes. Probably. And probably not. What the actual hell?

It did, however win my best kiss of 2023 which is why it's on this list.

Stay By My Side

I wanted to pick SOMETHING from Taiwan but my other two options both had lots of trauma in them. So I'm going with this one.

This show was an interesting take on the "ghost boyfriend" trope. About a boy who is tormented by hearing the dead, except when he is around one other boy - desperation+proximity = love. Unfortunately, the story was erratic and waffled about. While the leads turned in solid performances and the sappy domesticity was off the charts, it never really had the strength of the narrative convictions such a strong concept should have supplied. Highly rewatchable and enjoyable for that sappy domesticity but not a whole lot more. Still I always give extra credit for the diabetes-inducing sugar content and rewatch capacity.

The promise of this show, younger cook courts older divorced office worker, should have been my catnip. I mean if someone pitched this to me in an elevator I would have downloaded it by the second storey. Unfortunately, it did not exactly fulfill that promise, not in the way I'd hoped. Did I still enjoy the ride, yes, but I feel just a little let down.

Living With Him AKA Kare no Iru Seikatsu

Kindly Ryota goes to uni and ends up rooming with his former childhood bestie, Kazuhito. Kazuhito doesn’t have a girlfriend for, as it turns out, cute roommate reasons. Same director as Old Fashion Cupcake, the framing is gorgeous and it is a stylish piece. As a friends to lovers cohabitation narrative this was a classic 2000s sweet yaoi. I enjoy that kind of tradition out of Japan even if it (and the characters) come off as a little slow as a result. Still, it's nice to get a traditional BL out of Japan that is satisfying, not slapstick, AND did not hurt us.

i haven't been asked this! i think... but i'll answer repeat questions anyway, so no problemo there. ANYWAY, let's see... underrated episode huh. i have a couple actually: Mr. Monk and The Missing Granny [S02E13], Mr. Monk and The Other Detective [S04E01], Mr. Monk Stays In Bed [S04E03], Mr. Monk and The Big Game [S05E03], Mr. Monk and The Class Reunion [S05E06], Mr. Monk and The Bad Girlfriend [S06E04] and Mr. Monk and The Magician [S07E15].

Okay, let's dive into it. With Mr. Monk and The Missing Granny there's that scene where he's just finished taking his test (not really lol) and he's locked himself inside Leland's office. it's very short, if you blink it you miss (i just spotted it like,, a couple of days ago during a re-watch) but he's trying to coax Adrian to open the door and he, so very fucking softly, says: "Adrian." before launching into this small, supportive spiel -> his constant support, even in slivers, of Adrian is so freaking beautiful.

With Mr. Monk and The other Detective. it's more funny "guilty hubby energy" than cute. he looks so GUILTY giving the job over to Marty Eels. like, pls. like @s-misaki once said:

the utter act of betrayal mixed with guilt he must be feeling towards Adrian lolol

In Mr. Monk Stays In Bed. I just liked the little scene of where Leland is Adrian's bedroom... that's it. lol. BUT THIS ALSO REMINDS ME. in Mr. Monk and The Very, Very Old Man - Leland was sitting in Adrian's bed and i'm just like??? ADRIAN?? he's sitting in your bed... gosh, i giggled sm. like sure, he'll probably change the sheets - but there's that hint of him always feeling like Leland is one of his 'safe' people. Physical Touch, closeness, sharing things is tough but it's there!!!

the little football rugby match in Mr. Monk and The Big Game has like,,, quarter of my heart (the rest have been divided lol) - cause?? the?? trust?? teamwork?? is SO NATURALLLL. ahhhhh.

the main thing that blew my mind in Mr. Monk and The Class Reunion was how Leland drove all the way (sure, it was for a case) but i'm just,, he would go anywhere on earth for Adrian, wouldn't he. it's so freaking heart-warming idek (╥_╥)♥️.

Mr. Monk and The Bad Girlfriend,, that ep,, i swear. it was just. it was a good hint of how Leland sometimes DOES get fed up of Adrian and how Adrian always wants the best for Leland. it was equally heart-warming and heart-breaking. the underrated scene there though was how Leland shoved Adrian...

it's a very raw moment where the both of them do not seem to get along at all because they want something good and dont see it right in front of them *cough*... and it's just,, Leland's words there: "I have what you want..."

like gahhh, it's visceral if you come think about it. they never want to hurt each other but sometimes what you want isn't what you get and you have to settle and look for something else to fill in the gaping hole :).

Mr. Monk and The Magician is simply me loving Leland wanting to toss anyone out the window and smash them in the face for even hurting a hair on Adrian or loosing sight of him. What a man, XD.

anyway, WOW. i feel like i rambled off your ear here (for sure lol) more than you likely expected me to >,>.

as much i hate doing it i looked at the ep 12 preview again and pranpat don't rlly look shocked/surprised to see each other there like.....i rlly dont think this is something that will just happen. again, time skips make me extremely wary but if in case it's a high school reunion (cause of the high-school pics. pls. let it be a smol skip if there must be one)...... yeah. i really feel like they came to some sort of understanding in ep 11, throughout the ep? i don't think they'll pretend to break up and hen date in secret again....that seems like a step backwards into a place they already know won't last for long......i don't think they broke up. more like taking a break maybe? like how we heard the following end of their ep 6 conversation ("what if our parents hadn't been enemies") at the end of this, i feel like we'll the tie the string of this ep too next ep. i don't know how i feel about it and im all emotionally messed up (aren't we all lol) but. i hope this the like they're choosing. like they're still together just in a different sense, they're still fighting just in a different sense.

the "parents are right" doesn't seem to be an authentic way for them because they both acknowledged that they didn't deserve to be on weighed end of their parents burdens last episode? what pran was feeling this ep (and i may be projecting cause i have a difficult relationship w my own mum) i think it's not the "my mom is the best and she was right after all so i should break up for her sake". it seemed more like realising how much damage your parents have done is a long process and it's filled with weird guilty bumps? like i am so much more aware of the fact that the way my mum treated (treats) me is not Good and not my fault but on days that she buys my favourite snack from the grocery store or packs ky favourite lunch i. still feel guilty and i still feel like im ungrateful. but i know that im learning slowly and understanding that the line between love and abuse might be thin, but one is never an excuse for the other. love is never an excuse for the hurt. forgiveness migjt with time (maybe not completely. maybe it shouldn't) but that doesn't mean the trauma goes away. i think this episode just explored the depth of that?

like sometimes we take Big Brave decisions and then turn back because we're scared and. we give up or give in and make the cowardly choice but. that doesn't mean we're less brave or our love is less strong. or that we aren't fighting. or that all the effort we put in till now is waste. maybe it just means that we're human and. we're learning and two steps backwards might just be a preparation for a huge leap forward.

i really hope this is explored in depth and both pran and pat realise that they don't owe their parents certain versions of themselves. or anyone, for the matter. i think they are slowly learning that, because they're exploring themselves and realising who their true selves are, especially with each other ("being with you feels like freedom").

once again i want to say that no one is obligated to forgive their parents and if they had run away and walked away and been content with it, that would have been the right choice too. it's ok to close the door you we don't always have to strain ourselves to fix relationships. it's okay to walk away too. this could have gone either way and. it's hard either way and. i just hope however it is, it ends in love

so honestly i adored the reunion scene, like the whole set up with them being in the same city without knowing, jj almost running john b and sarah over, the two of them rushing to meet up with the rest of the pogues and just like the looks on everyones faces????? IMMACULATE!!! i think episode four was my favorite just based on friendship vibes alone and i really fucking loved how pope got to be more of the main character this season because jd is such a phenomenal actor and absolutely killed it this season like pope heyward just has main character energy, no questions asked.

now onto things i didn't like ... honestly the whole pope/kie situation just ... no. i really think they could have done a little bit more with it and i don't really like how it was handled. the way i see it is that they were kinda just scrambling to break them up as soon as possible so they'd be able to hint at jiara for a later season which like ... idk.

lemme preface this by saying that if you like and ship jiara, i'm happy for you and i totally respect your ship like this isn't me ship bashing so pls don't come for me lmao. if they slowburn the fuck out of jiara i might be able to be on board but as of right now i don't really get how they could reasonably get together without it being a total slap in the face to pope like yeah they're over, they're on good terms, but i truly don't see either of them doing that to him? especially jj like it doesn't really seem like him to do that to pope but they also sorta screwed up pope and jj's bond this season like it didn't really feel like s1 between them. idk maybe that's just me.

i also really wished there was more of those friendship vibes of s1 were in all the eps and it had less of a romance arc emphasis and i wish that both pope and kie got to have a more meaningful reunion moment with john b like jj did (and same for kie and sarah like give me the fucking "thought you were dead but you're back now" vibes).

one thing i know for sure i'm changing for my fics is that whole bit of kie being like "my best friends since kindergarten" because that does not line up with the canon i've created in my head over the past year and i don't care jpate can be wrong about his own show he just can

Sleeping on the jet was usually reserved for the trips back from cases because the team was so used to reviewing what they knew about it on the way there, but Spencer had other plans. He had had troubles sleeping lately and he couldn’t help but nod off on the plane, if slipping into the REM stage was considered nodding off.

A certain dream kept coming back to him, but each time it was a little different. Dream Spencer kept finding the same dead boy in the same basement. It was bad enough that Spencer spent his conscious energy on saving endangered lives, but now, his subconscious was dealing with it too, and it had all become too much for him to handle. 

Y/N knew about the dreams he was having, seeing as she was the closest person to him besides his mother. She had been waking up to him yelling in the night, but she was never bothered by it. She consoled him every chance she got. Without her, Spencer probably would have lost his mind.

Spencer stirred in his nap with a permanent scowl on his face. Watching him stir made Y/N very nervous so she squeezed his shoulder gently in hopes of waking him without startling him.

“Spencer?” she called softly, moving closer to him.

He awoke with a jerking motion and a shocked look on his face. The rest of the team looked in his direction with concerned gazes. Y/N rubbed his shoulder again to remind him that he was okay. It was a subtle movement, but Spencer was grateful for it because it kept him grounded.

“Sorry, I was dreaming..” he trailed off tiredly, rubbing his eyes.

“Yeah, no kidding!” Emily said with an amused smile.

“Found a..six year old boy who’d been abused and stabbed. Your baby was at the crime scene, I was tryna..I was tryna get him out of there, sorry.” He tried explaining, referring to JJ’s baby.

Morgan and Hotch both tried to say something about dream analysis, but he quickly told them he didn’t believe in it.

“Why aren’t we reviewing the case file?” He countered, hoping that would end the discussion.

“I don’t know, maybe because someone fell asleep on the jet?” Emily teased and Spencer smirked, with a small shake of his head. The rest of the team giggled and went on with bouncing details of the case off each other.

 Y/N cast a worried glance over at Spencer who’d avoided her gaze. She knew she’d talk to him about it soon, though. She slid her hand in his when no one was looking, letting him know that everything would be alright. She saw a small smile crawl up to his face and she sighed in relief inaudibly.

Y/N and Reid were assigned by Hotch to stay the night at the victim’s house with the parents to offer any assistance if necessary. They both took separate couches, Y/N just dozing off when she heard Spencer mumble her name.

“Y/N…” he mumbled, “Y/N, get them off me.” he said with more force, “Y/N! Y/N, get them off me!” he panicked as he writhed in his sleep, hands clutching his shirt and his chest.

She hurriedly turned a lamp on and rushed to his side, “Reid! Spencer, wake up! It’s me.” 

She grabbed him gently and his eyes shot open with a look of terror. He trembled as his hands went up to cover his face in embarrassment and tiredness. The parents had rushed downstairs in a panic and Y/N was quick to assure them that everything was okay and that it was just a misunderstanding. Spencer uttered a few apologies and Y/N convinced the parents to go back to bed. 

Y/N turned to him and spoke gently, “Spence, is everything okay?”

He huffed and took a seat on the couch, his fingers in his hair, “I’m making everything worse.” He sounded so exhausted. She took a seat on the coffee table in front of him.

“Spencer, it’s not your fault. These cases aren’t easy, and they get to all of us.” She tried to console him again.

“I’m losing it in their living room, Y/N, and I’m dreaming about dead kids...and being covered in leeches.” 

“What’s scaring you, love?” She was so gentle and inviting but his mind got the best of him. She took one of his hands that was tugging at his hair and rubbed his knuckles slowly.

“There’s boys that are dying and there’s nothing I can do to stop it.” He admitted his insecurities weakly but truth be told, he was more than just scared, he was terrified. 

She took a deep breath and nodded, understanding. “We’re gonna do our best, baby.”

However, she realized that this was a much bigger issue than she had previously thought, but unpacking it here wouldn’t have been efficient for either of them. Instead, she moved next to him on the couch and wrapped an arm over his shoulders. He turned into her and placed his head in the crook between her neck and her shoulder. He placed a soft kiss there and she smiled. She laid them down and ran her fingers through his hair to calm him until his ragged breathing evened itself out and he was out like a light again.

The next morning, they all had to attend the funeral of the first boy who was murdered. They hoped to spot the unsub at the funeral. They were all ready to leave and Y/N looked for Spencer in the house. She found him in the boy’s room. Last night he’d slept in her embrace, and she found comfort in the fact that Spencer felt safe with her.

“Hey, Spence. We’re almost ready to go.” She told him from the doorway. He turned to face her and sighed, he hadn’t had the chance to thank her for comforting him last night, but he’d still woken up with the same insecurities. This job depended on the repetitive nature of the murderer, which meant they needed a certain amount of victims to fully develop their profile. That didn’t sit right with Spencer or the rest of the team.

“You know...the parents are right. Odds are we’ll catch the unsub when he dumps the body or when he tries to snatch a kid.” He shoved his hands in his pockets as a defense. She bit her lip and entered the room.

“Yeah, I know the odds, Spence.” She fiddled with her fingers but she knew there was something else on his mind. He turned to the rest of the room and pointed out something about the boy’s toys. He contrasted them with the books he had in his house growing up.

After much investigation, they had found the boy and the unsub. Spencer made sure the boy was okay before returning him to his parents. He breathed a sigh of relief as he saw the boy reunite with them. Y/N walked over to him as he observed the reunion.

“You know, this is about as good as it gets on this job. We’re lucky we even get to experience this moment. ” She reminded him and he nodded, his feet still shuffling and hands stuck in his pockets. Whatever he was battling, Y/N wanted to make sure she was right there with him to help him through it.

“Yeah, I know.” he pursed his lips.

It lead you down this career path, but also to the same city where your mother lives and it gave us the opportunity to save this child. We saved this child, Spencer.” she gestured to the young boy, still clinging to his mother. 

He fought back a smile, “Yeah, yeah we did.”

“It’s a moment of celebration, enjoy it. Today was a great day on the job. We can’t forget about all the good we see, it’s really easy to become overwhelmed by the bad.” She reached up and held his arm gently. He nodded and wrapped her in a one armed hug, rubbing her other arm. He placed a loving kiss to the top of her head.

“Thanks, Y/N.” He said and she gave his waist a squeeze in response. Hotch came by and they broke apart.

“Hey, do you think it would be possible to take off in the morning?” He asked Hotch.

1/2 helllooo its korn anon! i needed a couple days to process what i just witnessed. nothing really happened in this episode but also everything happened?? like we barely left supot's office but also i'm emotionally exhausted? chanon and pom reunion was everything (i still think pom deserved that punch in the face, not the rest tho). i don't understand chanon's motivation, and i'm not gonna let it slide, writers! i understand wanting to get back at pom, but why tf would he do it through supot???

2/3 supot is the one who caused all of his issues in the first place? maybe he has plans to take him down too?? idk but ffs dude couldn't you at least have gone halfsies so supot was also infected?? tay being the real supot was sick and lee and tay did so good in their scene. all i ask for in this goddamn show is one consistently reliable adult, i swear (i know you're a pom stan, but that man is WEAK. i was glad he finally showed some balls in this ep when it mattered most tho!).

3/3 when pom told pang that there was no point fighting and to just go w the system i... but also he proved himself a bit by the end. when supot told him that he was almost like a son to him... the manipulation... also who is that woman grace is seeing! i am so excited to finally know her potential. it also looks like we'll be seeing nate next week! i wanna see all the students work together in a fight sequence where they use their strengths to take down supot. pls! what are your thoughts?

like you said, not much happened in this episode since the majority of it took place in the same space. but at the same time, SO MUCH happened.

tay being supot caught me (and i’m assuming most people) so off guard! the entire back story on how he was in control and lee’s character (we don’t even know his name!! was he the real yuth? was he someone else?? who is he!!) only thought he was. and then that scene where we only see lee’s back and he slights his throat...i was screaming at my computer. as much as i despise that scene/supot, it was such an interesting twist, and lee and tay did such a good job (also....tay was looking very nice in this episode).

the thing about pom is that he still is very much a victim under supot, but he also holds a position of power over these kids. so we want him to stand up to supot and protect his students, but he also....can’t. not how he tried to in this episode at least. yes, it was bad ass, and i loved seeing pom stand up for himself and for pang. but it’s supot. we all know he can’t be taken down that easily. that’s why i’m really hoping he and chanon actually have a plan together and that the whole “infecting my best friend to get back at him after all these years” is just a ruse. pom is another character in this show who DESPERATELY needs therapy, because he’s been under supot’s control since HIGH SCHOOL. that’s ten years at this point. someone save this man plz.

i’m hoping that the next episode will be a chance for the babies (yes, that’s what i refer to the younger gifted kids as) to prove themselves! especially after having their memories wiped (which i’m convinced pom only did because supot made him), they deserve to go looking for some answers. as for the women in the preview...one is obviously nate but the other...i haven’t a clue! it’s probably going to be another plot twist, and i’m so excited for it!

GoT Season 8, Episode 2: Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Thoughts

Like i am not even sure this episode's name is that or "The rightful queen" but I am going with the title I liked more.

I was fully intending of making a big ass Recap like I usually do but today I had a lot of work and I feel like everyone has already talked about the episode since it was leaked so I am just gonna talk about some scenes that I think will be relevant and my take on some shipping stuff.

Again I warn that I don't root for D Targy at all (but I do think she is an amazing character) and she annoys the heck out of me most often than not so... if she is your fave pls don't read this cuz it's not for you.

On Jaime Lannister

I feel this was a great episode for him as a character, while I do wish he would have said something about the wildfire on King's Landing or the Loot Attack I ultimately think that what he did say was the best thing in his PoV because he thinks D is the North's queen now that Jon bent the knee so ofc he wasn't gonna antagonize her that much when he was at clear disadvantage.

His chat with Tyrion was also very good, tho I feel in the books this will be more on a bitter note given Jamie's confession about Tysha, but yeah they are close once again and I appreciate that.

Every scene he had with Brienne had me swooning.Brienne defending him in the Great Hall. All those stares. The clear tension between them and the fact that Brienne doesn't know what to do when they are on the same side and he is not insulting her, so they still fight and pant around each other and I love it (honestly this kind of fighting is a lot like the Jonsa one because they have to get rid of that UST but they can't fuck or even kiss yet so they bicker and pant around each other). I noticed how he stared at Tormund and immediately knew he was intrested in Brienne. And ofc him knighting Brienne was the best of the episode for me (hence my preference of the title aluding to this scene).

On Sansa Stark

Curious that we don't get Sansa or Jon's PoV this episode, just them through other people's eyes.

The Great Hall scene: while I would have loved Sansa defending Jaime like in some fics, I think it does make sense that she feels resentment towards him and his family, but she still was willing to trust him once Brienne spoke on his behalf which says a lot for their relationship and how much Sansa has come to trust and value Brienne and her opinions. She was completely a queen in that scene, she even left the place frist not giving a fuck whatsoever about D.

Tête-à-tête with the gecko queen: Sophie Turner is an amazing actress. Ok so I loved she was telling Lord Royce she wanted to leave the Gates open as long as possible, such a compassionate queen, but also the moment D steps in I lived for Lord Royce clearly showing more respect and deference towards Sansa than towards D (I mean that the whole North respects Sansa as their leader is the very reason why Jorah asked D to talk to her). We see Sansa be closed off towards D in the beginnig even when D is trying hard to be sympathetic to sansa and bond over them being good leaders to their people (bihhh Sansa laughed and so did I cuz just how deluded is D to think she is on Sansa's level of good leadeeship), and D asks the question we have since ep 1 "does that (Jon's love for D) bother you?" And I am absolutely sure that the answer to that is yes, but Sansa was never going to show herself that much to someone she doesn't trust nor even likes (this girl out played LF ffs!!!) so she went for a non-commital answer (is not a yes or a no, she is justifying her distrust for D and appears not to be jealous but a concerned sister) D is appeased by this answer and tries to show Sansa that her and Jon's relationship is real (lmaoo) by stating just how much she sacrified her goals just for his love (like nice that she doesn't pretend to care for the people she wants to be queen of anymore, the Jonsa fandom said this since last season) and straight up says she is the one being manipulated by Jon, and Sansa's face is a poem, cuz you can see exactly the moment when she figures out that Jon is manipulating D!! We even get a smile of relief and promptly she catches herself and changes her behaviour implying she should apologize (but she never actually does) and even lauguing at how short Jon is (Sansa bites her lip tho 👀👀 and D's smile is so fake idk who she thinks she is fooling) but Sansa again brings up the North and D is visibly upset at that.

Scenes with Theon: I am just going to straight up say I do ship Theonsa and I have read fics of them, but I do not think it will be canon or that it makes narrative or political sense cuz it doesn't. Their reunion was heartwarming and beautiful (tho D jealous stare bothered me, like fuck off I wanna see my babies) Sansa was clearly happy at seeing Theon more like himself and having him want to fight for their family. Their scene with the soup was cute but I did not see it as shippy at all, there is definitely affection and care but I don't think it was shot as romance or a couple's montague, it was simply showing us all the different ways the characters we know spend this night. As much as it hurts me because I love Theon, I think it is possible he will die protecting Bran (I really don't want this, but it's a big possibility, cuz I know some big characters must die in order to destroy us as much as possible, and this scenes with Sansa might just serve that purpose) so I'll just drown in theonsa fics if that happens. Also, it kinda make me go 👀👀 the fact that they made the theonsa scenes so alike the jonsa s6 ones but without all that flirty stuff on the soup scene and that it was enough for the GA and some Aegonys to ship it while we know Theon like Jon also grew up with Sansa in WF. Idk it was kinda amusing to me.

On Jon Snow

Ok so this made a lot of sense to me, Jon avoiding D post parentage reveal is what seals pol!Jon to me, if he really loved her he would have gone statight to her in the night and confess this thing he found out while crying and looking for her support and being all hopless longingly staring at her but nope he doesn't even want to look at her (he is probably thinking how he fucked his aunt and shudders). I was also like 👀👀 when he pushed past D to follow Sansa, did they talk?? Did they fight again??? I am thirsty, but it was also a good thing Jon didn't interact with Sansa cuz it would give the game away too soon, as a matter of fact Jon doesn't seek her out like last episode as far as the audience knows and I think that is because he doesn't know what to do he is having an existencial crisis in the middle of the Apocalipsis, and Sam is like have you told her yet??? He knows shit could hit the fan at any minute. I loved his reunion with Tormund and Edd because I love Jon's smile and he has been just miserable since last ep, so yeah I need my boy to be happy.

Now onto the reveal, I think Jon genuinely thought he might as well just say it, D clearly seeked him out for some loving sexy times and Jon was not on board with that, he just couldn't keep it up with her cuz he doesn't love her, never has and now she is his aunt, he just can't do that knowing they are super related, also now D can't leave them (I mean she kind of can fuck off in Drogon and maybe Rhaegal will follow, but her armies can't leave, and they have the obsidian so...) . The fact he called her D@ny is so layered, for starters she told him straight up not to call her that cuz it reminds her of Viserys, so it connects them as family and upsets D at the same time. D straight up thinks that Bran and Sam would make shit up to usurp her (bihhh no one but u and Cersei gives a fuck about the ugly ass chair) and then when she sees Jon is saying the truth she is furious (so much for the aegony marriage fix up that her stans dreamed off, also can we fucking kiss boatie goodbye?? Cuz that sure as hell ain't happening) and Jon is baffled, he knows she wants the IT more than anything and shit but really??? They are about to die, and he has left more than clear to any one that would listen that he doesn't care about titles. Not only that but Jon and her are family now,and family is important to Jon, and she reacts like this???

On Gendrya

I was a bit wierded out cuz we have seen Maise since she was a kid (lmaoo i am like a year older than her) but more power to her for the scene, also I really love Gendrya and their interactions have been so flirty and charged with chemistry. I am worried about Gendry's survival, but I think he might live.

On everything else:

I loved Gilly and Dadvos's scene, it was so good and I wish they would give Gilly more lines.

Missandei and Greyworm making plans for after the war makes me worried one of them will die, also now that D will feel betrayed by Jon, I fear she will think GW and Missandei wanting to leave is also treason. I AM WORRIED. Also to ppl doesn't trust Missandei cuz she is with d and nobody in the north trusts Targs not even children.

Tyrion talking about destroying Cersei made him seem more Book!Tyrion than ever and I just shudderd. D literally never wants to take responsability for any desicion when she refused to fight for the north if Cersei didn't joined them. Also she would really have named Jorah hand??? She is dumb as a brick. His scene with Jaime, Brienne and co. Was cute.

Podrick was looking fine and his voice was really good. Also that Jenny of Oldstone song with all it's jonsa vibes 👀👀.

Ep 1-3 Random Thoughts

It’s fucking long. You’ve been warned:

ONE— NEED MORE MADI

Clarke emerges from the rubble after a month. We don’t see her use the radio until she gets to Arkadia. So we don’t actually know that she was radio-ing him for 2,199 days. We don’t know how long she was unconscious or if she had a working radio immediately after Praimfaya. The radio is a mobile one, looks beaten-up… either it came from the Rover or it came from Arkadia. She was still radio-ing him for a long-ass time though.

And she was radio-ing Bellamy. She refers to Monty and Raven in the third-person and she’s not likely to be chatting to Harper, Murphy, Emori, or Echo instead of Bellamy.

Loved that we see Jasper’s things. I’m hoping for a moment between Clarke and Monty where she gives him those things.

The editing— they are so not being subtle with that Bellarke business.

Murphy hates himself and, as Bellamy points out, likes playing the hero because it’s redeeming. He doesn’t know what to do with himself or how to feel when he can’t do that. I wish there was more growth with him after 6 years but I hope this means we’re gonna see all that growth this season.

Madi was hiding under the floor of the trailer. She’s definitely meant to reflect/contrast Octavia.

Madi’s hand shook when she shot the guy.

Monty is NOT gonna be down with the ground politics and the things they’re gonna have to do. Bromance with Zeke, pls?

That foreshadowing with Becho tho.

TWO — KICKASS ROMAN TERROR-QUEEN 

Really really interested in the rumours Abby hinted at. Love getting Ark history. Definite foreshadowing.

Niylah and Octavia… not sure what’s going on there. How’d she know about the book? She also didn’t want to leave when Octavia tried sending her away for her safety.

I like Jackson and Miller but when the revolt happens… they hadn’t been down there long. They’re sure moving quick with the I-love-yous. Hope they last.

The “choose” scene— kick ass, well-edited, loved Octavia here.

Surprised by how Jaha died. I knew they’d make him a hero but I expected something much more dramatic and quick. I was surprisingly emotional over it.

They never address what they do with their dead (Side note: I hope they keep Jaha’s ashes/bones/whatever and he eventually gets to be buried with his son.)

Indra thinks of Octavia as her daughter, and now her actual daughter is interfering in that relationship. Gaia obviously becomes an influence on Octavia— how will Indra’s relationship with O change? Potential conflict.

Octavia took the Roman thing and fucking ran with it. It’s a connection to her brother but in a really unexpected way. (I’ve said before that I think Octavia’s arc will in some ways reflect Bellamy’s in S3b-4a but she’ll reach a far different conclusion than he did.)

Most annoying thing for me is that Octavia keeps getting new titles. 

THREE— THE BEST YET

Murphy knew wtf he was doing bringing up Clarke. The little shit, I love him.

4 PHDs? I love backstory.

Madi is not on board with Clarke’s actions and I can’t wait to see how that plays out when things get really bad.

I’m LOVING the parallels with s1— Diyoza’s speech, Clarke’s silence, the impaled newcomer.

Anyone else think Raven is gonna have a field day with these new weapons? Imagine how she could adapt them.

Murphy wants to be a good guy but has never felt or been treated like the good guy. He tries to do the honourable thing and it ends up screwing him over. This dude TRIES and has no luck. That being said, him being left behind with Raven will give the audience a chance to see how they’ve evolved and hopefully will give us some spacekru stories.

But I’m guessing they’ll come down soon so the setup for Raven-Zeke can happen (What is their ship name, btw?)

Madi was way more confident killing this time (and multiple people!) but I feel like she’s gonna have a moment later when she just cannot deal and her turmoil will reflect the things Clarke and Bellamy went through. (Please tell me they do the parental thing and counsel her through it? A la Kane to Bellamy and Abby to Clarke)

Ok but the framing and blocking for the Bellamy-Madi meeting is so important.

The hilarious thing about the Bellamy-Madi meeting is the way it was edited makes it seem like they just ran off together to save Clarke without a backward glance at the others, just abandoned them in the woods.

Bellamy couldn’t even THINK to ask about his sister, who he’s been desperate to return to. “What? No, how can that be?” -- I don’t think this question is about the bunker

That mug! The mug had narrative significance, yes, but it could have said ANYTHING. They could have made it blank, or had the Eligius logo, or anything else. The fact that they made it say that is just…extra.  It’s not coincidental, the writers know what they’re doing.

They’ve seen each other for 2.2 seconds and there’s already been a declaration. I know everyone said things would be fast this season but damn.

Up until this point, they’ve never outright stated how much they care for each other. Other characters have implied it, they’ve done things that implied it, and they’ve hinted at it with things like “I can’t lose Clarke”, “I need you”, etc. but never a confirmation of “Yes, I care about this person. Absolutely.”

“She must be important to you.” This was a statement, not a question. Rhetorical. He didn’t have to reply but he did.

Clarke wasn’t really mentioned by spakekru in ep1. This episode, she was mentioned repeatedly (mainly by Bellamy). The sudden change from no mention of her to the constant reminder of “Clarke died for us, I left her behind”, etc. in the first half of ep3 is meant to emphasize their later reunion. Bellamy mourned Clarke, he felt guilty about leaving her…. and now he returns to find her alive but in danger and he’s thinking “I can’t lose her again..”

It’s a slightly more level-headed concern and need than his absolute desperation in rescuing her from Roan in s3.

The fact that it’s Bellamy alone that goes to rescue her is so important.

Eligius is morally grey, yes. But one thing everyone forgets when comparing their version of morally grey to the main characters’: Bellamy, Clarke et al did shitty things mainly because they were in life or death situations. Eligius is full of people who did shitty stuff before the world ended. What I’m gonna enjoy seeing is how the show is gonna separate the super fucked-up prisoners from those who, like the MCs, did shitty stuff for good reasons. And to see what these super fucked-up prisoners will mean for their survival because they’ve never yet faced an enemy that was actually evil (as in kill-because-they-love-it evil).

Every second of this was a gem.

Things I want to see going forward:

Clarke and Monty reunion. Talking about Jasper with each other.

Raven and Murphy learning Clarke is alive. Bellamy has to have a way to communicate with Raven to tell her if she needs to pull the plug on the prisoners or not. So I imagine him radio-ing her and revealing what happened. And Clarke getting to talk to Raven and Murphy.

How Raven and Murphy react to Madi. 

Bellamy and Madi interaction. Lola said Madi views him as a hero, we need to see more of this.

Bellamy at some point talking to Madi about Octavia.

Kane or Abby reacting to the knowledge that Bellamy and Clarke were separated for six years.

Eligius having an “oh shit” moment when they see Octavia do something badass.

Murphy’s friendship with Raven. Murphy’s friendship with Echo. Or Clarke. Or Bellamy. I want John Murphy to have friends.

i love being right about raven branwen this fine day (people kept thinking she wasn’t doing this out of fear, that she had some ulterior selfless reason for ditching yang, that she was either a stone cold bitch or had a heart of gold under it all, that she’d switch sides this early on or at all)

speaking of raven, i was going back and forth on what happened to the last spring maiden but i WAS leaning towards her killing her in a combination of mercy, ruthlessness and desperation (because the maiden reminded her of herself, because the maiden was too weak, because having the power gave her a leg up against salem/oz which was her thought process with the relic before yang called her out on the contradiction in her plan)

raven & yang crying and it’s all so bitter and good and i love it

yang refusing to run away even though her ptsd makes her shake like a leaf and being the first person (definitely the first non-maiden) to claim a relic like the hero she is

sun being cute and waving at rwby/jnr (and getting excited when he sees yang) - then proceeding to literally push blake forward because he knows how much she needs to reunite with her team

ilia being cute and getting admiration from a cute girl (ilia in general <3)

merc and em shit!!! emerald having a full blown meltdown because she’s put all her faith in one person and that person’s either died or abandoned her AND HER SEMBLANCE GOING HAYWIRE BECAUSE OF IT! mercury, who doesn’t care personally that much for cinder either way, showing concern for emerald bc they ARE friends + partners! i love it, i love it. i love my dumb evil kids who were tricked into getting way over their heads!

salem’s mobile body being what’s essentially an octopus with knives is still funny to me, as is the fact she can make it just brutally murder a dude without having to get out of her seat

raven having no other option in her bond portals but taking a left turn outside of vale and ending up on tai’s doorstep lmao also his face being like ‘goddamn it >:/’ is so funny?? is raven going to confront him or try to fly to the nearest working train station and ride back to mistral to rejoin the tribe? the first option gives way to strq shenanigans but the second is hilarious to imagine so.

yang keeping mum (hehe) on the identity of the spring maiden hmmmm mmmmmmmm don’t know if that was the best idea but it’s gonna be fun when that comes back into play later on

and the bad things (or at least disappointing)

for all the hype going in (which was to be expected as it’s the finale), nothing really exciting happened? i guess it’s because they saved all the fighting and plot twists in the eps leading up to it but it made the whole episode feel very lacklustre and anticlimactic

hrrrm i get what they’re going for with adam and part of me appreciates seeing blake humiliate and scare him off but this feels too early and too fast, especially since this will make any future return less.....threatening.  i could talk about this more but others probably have said it a lot better than me. there’s still a lot you could do with adam to make him a good antagonist again so i’m willing to give the writing the benefit of the doubt on this one (for now).

i was too impatient for blake and yang to breathe the same air again that i could not deal with sun and blake standing that close lmao i was just ’[yt comment voice] this is looking ominously hetero,,,,,’ and don’t get me wrong, it was a cute scene but......htrgfhfh i need both of you to take a step back

i’m just going to assume they’re holding off on the actual meat of the bee reunion for next season when they can have proper conversations about it (what with blake seeing adam again, blake’s scar being animated for SOME REASON, yang being willing to be more mature and forgiving after her talks with weiss and raven) but also......man, i expected a bit more?

"I snap the Umbra Staff over my knee.”  AND THAT?  THAT MOMENT?  that moment is everything I love about TAZ.  Justin’s slow exhale bc he knows how big this is, Clint’s excited laughter just before he says it, his gleeful ‘THATTA BOY!’ when he does, Travis’s “Yep.  YEP.”  THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THIS.  just this in-the-moment storytelling where everyone is so palpably, AUDIBLY on the edge of their seats and somehow the out of character elements only enhance the in-character ones, to the point where I feel like I’m in the room with them too, like we’re all sitting around the same campfire like little kids going, “What happens next??????” oohing and gasping and it’s such a joyful shared experience made all the more so for it being told by a real life family who are just as enthralled with it as we are and IT JUST.  god it gets me, man.  it’s so so special.  it’s such a special special thing.
