Liminal Tide, 2023
11” x 14”
Graphite on paper
This drawing was inspired by @colinjamessturdevant for table//FEAST’s bar//DRINK Reading Series, a local literature reading series in Houston, Texas that will begin on February 19. A print of Liminal Tide will be available at the event’s sales table.
I prefer mechanical drafting pencils for drawing, but this is my first drawing made with traditional graphite pencils. This drawing was created using over 10 references as well as my own imagination, and the best (and most challenging) part about making it was mentally constructing the best way for it to fit together.
In addition to the print at the reading series, the original Liminal Tide will be shown at the New Mexico Art League’s Black & White exhibit from March 1 to April 8, 2023, along with a print of one of my digital photographs (my first gallery exhibition!!).
I’m so happy to share all these firsts with you. Life is too short to not try something new. If it makes your heart happy, you should go for it.

Inktober Day 14: Empty
I tried experimenting with cartoonish reflections in glass... I wouldn’t say it’s too bad!
