Pressure is building for authorities to close a hiking trail up a culturally significant peak in the Glasshouse Mountains on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
Jinibara songman BJ Murphy has been camping at the foot of Mount Beerwah for the past two nights to educate visitors on the cultural harm caused by hiking.
He said Mount Beerwah should be treated with the same respect as Uluru and Mount Warning in New South Wales where hiking is not permitted.

Plant of the Day
Wednesday 19 April 2023
In the cool glasshouse at Cambridge Botanic Garden the Erica canaliculata (channelled heath, hairy grey heather) was covered in flowers. This species is native to the East and West Capes of South Africa and naturalised in South Australia.

Bluey’s School (Glasshouse School) (1/?)
Bluey’s school is quite interesting; aspects of it will be covered in a few posts because there’s a lot to talk about.
We’ll start with a topic we’ve previously mentioned in this Tumblr: location.
Tumblr media
Unlike conventional elementary schools for young children, the specialized school Bluey attends (more on this in a future post) is not close by to Bluey’s home. It doesn’t seem to be near any of Bluey’s classmates homes either: it is located in a rural area, and doesn’t appear to have transit service. (Australia doesn’t have dedicated yellow school buses like in North America, but transit agencies do set up children-only dedicated routes when it is practical.)
Tumblr media
The small size and rural location of the school Bluey and her friends attend means everyone has to be driven to it.
Tumblr media
The whole “it’s in a rural location” was in fact noteworthy enough that the episode “Explorers” focussed on it being comically hard to get to for parents unfamiliar with the location.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A school like this where everyone must be shuttled in from all across Brisbane must create a challenge for parents; it must impact the parents’ other travel during the day / be factored into their schedules.
Tumblr media
It looks like there are a few occasional carpoolers (like Rusty and Jack, noted in “Cricket”) but it’s not a location that can easily implement a shuttle bus or logically be considered for service by public transit. Funding a dedicated service (even with a minibus) would add significantly to any costs associated with an education at this school.
Not that the rural location is totally a downside; there is plenty of undeveloped space for playing and exploring. Indeed, the lack of playground equipment is deliberate; we’ll get into that in a future post.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One last comment for this post, based on my own experience: a school with students spread throughout a city means that most of the time if Bluey wants to visit a friend, a transit or car trip is almost inevitable; she can’t just walk or ride a bike. This must be a considered a downside compared to if everyone was in close proximity to one another.

As I've been getting back into my Psychonauts fixation (as per being able to play the first game), it is only natural that I have made a new character. I only have one drawing for them at the moment, I'd do more today but god decided to make me feel over in menstrual pain
Tumblr media
Anyway this is Dr. Hazel Hedlund, a psychic botanist and spy (under the alias of Belladonna)! They're a senior agent around the same age as Sasha Nein and Milla Vodello, and they would've appeared in Psychonauts 2. (A letter would've been found by Raz and Lili in Psychonauts addressed to the two agents by Hazel, one where they mention returning to the Motherlobe, after an extended absence.)
They're based in Sweden, but their past hints at them having grown up in a remote part of Australia.
Their psychic specialty is Botanokinesis, though they also know the standard set of PSI Powers as well. They're a hair more advanced than Sasha and Milla training wise, seeing as they can supposedly teleport. (Though this mainly seems to be an "underground teleportation" they can do via controlling dirt and ground.)
(If you have any questions about them feel free to ask cuz I like getting to infodump :3)
Some excess lore about them:
They can be found in a glasshouse outside the Motherlobe, one which functions as their office.
Their mental world is called Hazel's Nature Reserve, and is shown to be a vast and lush forested area.
They actually have three Mental Vaults: one detailing their past, one detailing their meeting (and crushing on) Sasha and Milla, and one about charring carrots in an attempt to make glazed carrots.
They're autistic, and have several ways they regular themself or keep themself calm. These things include wearing compression clothing (under their standard outfit), wearing earbuds or headphones to block out noises (which they usually listen to something ranting from ABBA to death metal), and doing menial tasks such as alphabetizing paperwork for Sasha.
Belladonna is their drag persona, and who they're more known as, as an agent. They never seem to do missions as themself.
The reason for them having less fingers on their right hand is because of an accident. It's the same reason why they wear a glove on that hand, as Sasha instructed them to as to not further injure themself.
They're eight (8) feet tall.
ADDING WHAT I FORGOT: When they get embarrassed (which is very easy), they'll cough a bit and become flushed, trying to change the subject. If it's a more risque subject they may risk choking on a drink, or on their own saliva.

The All Blacks compete in the Lipovitan-D Rugby Championship Test Match Series and face a formidable 2023 with the Rugby World Cup in France in September and October. However, before that, they must deal with home test matches against a formidable South Africa team and the eagerly anticipated Bledisloe Cup match against Eddie Jones’ Australia.
On August 5, the All Blacks will play a rare afternoon home Test match at Forsyth Barr Stadium (2.35 PM start time), bringing the Bledisloe Cup back to Dunedin for the first time since 2017. All Blacks Hospitality anticipates that the Bledisloe Cup test match will be in high demand because there will only be one test match played on the South Island in 2023. To avoid disappointment, we advise you to confirm your hospitality requirements as early as feasible.
2023 Second Bledisloe Cup All Blacks will play home Test match at Forsyth Barr Stadium
In the All Blacks final home Test of the year against Australia on Saturday afternoon in Dunedin, assistant coach Jason Ryan says there is still more to work for. The breakdown will be one area of focus following the 38-7 Lipovitan-D Rugby Championship and Bledisloe Cup victory in Melbourne on Saturday.
Ryan claimed that the match had been intensely physical, as one could anticipate from a Bledisloe Cup match.
The Australians had displayed some excellent play at the breakdown.
“They put pressure on us there, and we occasionally lost our rhythm. I believe that our carry contributed to the breakdown in some way, so we’ll seek to adjust a few things there with our height. However, as we regained some momentum and began to play quickly, we felt fairly confident.

Since roughly 85 years ago, the Wallabies of Australia and the All Blacks of New Zealand have competed in a rugby union matchup known as the Bledisloe Cup. That much history may be found in a custom that dates back to the early 1930s.
