Cahara and Sexuality

CW: Discussion of SA

So Cahara is, of course, a rizzler/a bicon/a being of unfettered sexual power who's always dtf and prides himself on his prowess, but I can't help but wonder how much of that is a coping mechanism. He's by far the most sexualized of the four main characters, being pretty explicitly attracted to, or at the very least being open to having sex with any of them, regularly flirting or making advances, and shows a bizarre interest in the marriage ritual, but he's also one who is very likely to experience SA at a guard's hands following his capture and (I believe but am not sure if this is true) said to be considered a "preferable" victim by them.

The thing is, considering Cahara's childhood abandonment and survivalism, even if we assume he was learning to steal and fight as soon as he was physically able, child Cahara was in an exceptionally vulnerable position and likely unable to be able to win in a violent altercation until he survived to reach puberty and learned from experience. We don't know if anyone helped him (there's that thing in canon about his father maybe teaching him to fight but its debatable and possibly an error/oversight) but a child without guardians or a home doing whatever it takes to get by could have very easily been assaulted or trafficked. It's also not out of the question to imagine that Cahara could have turned to survival sex work to make ends meet, and that would add an additional layer to his relationship with/powerful empathy for Celeste and his desire to give her a safer, more stable life free of her indentured servitude/usury.

To be clear, I wouldn't trade sex god Cahara for the world and I generally don't have huge issues with how funger handles SA. He's one of my most beloved game characters and I hugely enjoy him being a proud slut, but I do also think that all things considered, its highly likely he has sexual trauma in his history, that his hypersexuality may be a way of trying to reclaim pleasure and agency, and that things that could and likely do happen to him on his quest to save his partner from sexual slavery are retraumatizing in addition to just being really nightmarish.

Starting off with my wife, Cahara. I think he's medium height, shorter than Enki and Rag so like 175 cm. I think he'd be pretty tan and have a bit of a red/orange undertone. His hair is thick and wavy and it seems like he has made a decent attempt at taking care of it. On a similar not idk what kind of skin care and what not they had back there but he certainly takes care of his appearance. He needs to look good for his wife obviously.

This man is not as stinky as he looks. I'd like to think he showers daily but he can get rid of the candle and old book smell on his skin and clothes. He probably reads books in the bath. Anyway he is quite thin and malnourished but also has a fat ass and slutty waist??? Like why do you need that?? Also a bit taller than Cahara 180.5 cm or some shit idk I'm making it up.

This man is huge. Comically. 187.2 cm and jacked. Guys, you'll never guess who I find most attractive. Anyway, he is the idea of a Greek God body to me. He's tan like Cahara but has less color because he lives and breathes snow. Fat tits??? Yes um I think so. I'd also like to think he doesn't use soap when he washes himself but somehow isn't stinky. He just smells like ash and damp forest but it isn't bad.

My favorite girlfailure. I don't even like girls but I'd let D'arce fck the shit out of me. Anyway sorry about that. I'd like to think she's got a bit of a tan from training outside and freckles scattered here and there. She is strong woman and has a healthy amount of muscle and fat but her body is mostly lean. I am a tiny titty D'arce ENTHUSIAST and ACTIVIST. Justice for tiny titty girls I see you I love you. 168.5 cm I love her she's so dear to me.

STINKY !!!! UGGOO!!!!! sorry I have a raging love hate relationship with this fuckass. I think he looks really silly in his sprite for no reason lmao. Anyway this man is ETHEREAL just absolutely gorgeous. I wish Miro made him look more feminine in the game do girl Le'Garde justice. He defiantly only takes bubble baths like a fucking loser. He's 176.7 cm and is like weirdly insecure about not being taller?? I feel like if you jokingly called him short he'd throw a hissy fit.

Nosramus also looks really silly in their sprite oh my god. Honestly I think Nosramus is intersex and just refuses to choose either or. They're pretty pale from being away from sunlight for so long and have a yellow undertone. They are surprisingly not stinky and take care of themself somehow and it's unclear what access they have to water or soap. They just always smell clean no matter what.

Started playing Fear and Hunger recently and this guy is pretty silly. I like that he likes bugs, that’s a green flag in my book, bugs are great.

Nothing in this post in particular is mature, but the game itself is, it’s a pretty dark horror game, so I’ll be putting some content warnings in the tags so any talk about the game on my account can be filtered out easier!

Some thoughts about the game under a cut :3

I haven’t played as Enki tho, I picked Cahara because he’s easier and it’s my first playthrough, and he’s pretty cool too. I really love the character and monster designs in this game. The art is super cool :3. I’ve had the worst luck this run tho oh my god; I started the game took like two steps and immediately got blindsighted by three dogs. All the enemies in the first left entrance area spawned in the first room. Two elite guards spawned in the room past the prisons instead of the usual one. Moonless would not spawn for like a solid few reloads and then ended up on the bottom of the map instead of the top where they usually are. I talked to Nosramus (love them, they’re great, they were off screen the whole conversation tho whoops) and immediately afterwards got the crow mauler text and had to leave the room. Got D’arce and promptly ran into a yellow mage and lost my arm! It’s been wild and I’m even just playing on easy mode 💀💀💀!!! My computer also kinda sucks and lags sometimes, but yeah! The game is fun!!!!! I have no idea how far I am in it, but I’m almost to where Le’garde is captured. My whole strategy has been fuck around and find out and it’s working XD!!! I kinda expected it to be scarier, but that might be because I’m a little used to horror as a genre in general, but it’s a nice balance of spooky atmosphere and usual RPG action stuff in a way that comes off sincere and not like edgy for the sake of being edgy if that makes sense. It’s cool :3

Anyway there’s a lot of games I’ve started recently and haven’t finished so I guess I’ll be playing those for a while. I still need to beat CV64, I’m just currently stuck on the uh gear platforming section with the bomb. If you know, you know 💀💀💀. It’s hard. I also have to beat Curse of Darkness, but I’m really close to the end in that one I’m just getting all the random side rooms and stuff. Raising more innocent devils besides my main team just to be able to open a door is a little tedious tbh, but eh it’s an excuse to play the game for longer so I’ll take it. But yeah, hopefully life actually lets me beat all these games so I can talk about them more (TwT ;).

i started playing funger. i chose dark priest and my first run went exactly as youd think

Dude. I started playing cause I thought Enki (The dark priest) looked cool. Was not aware of if there were any character differences aside from intros and beginning skills, and it was/is pretty hard to find sources. In spite of being out for 5 years, there's a lot that we don't really Know.

First run ended in prisons. I totally fucked myself over. Just really bad rng. No way to wiggle through. Played again, paused for several months, came back and couldn't remember what the hell I was doing. I simply knew it was sucking because I had it in my mind that you HAD to fight bosses and enemies, and often did so unprepared and unaware of their patterns. I still wasn't totally aware of the fact you do not have levels. Just better items, ideally, as you go deeper.

For a 3rd pass I ended up needing to reset from a fresh save a lot. I quickly learned the hard way about the fact people like Ragnvaldr, who was missing a goddamn arm, WOULD NOT fuck Enki specifically to form Marriage. I went about things in a pretty nontraditional way otherwise. As soon as I left inner hall, I bee lined to the Thicket. Got Ragnvaldr. Went to Mines. Got Cahara, and D'arce. Got the Salamander Snake soul stone. Left with a regular ending as I did not meet conditions for anything in particular. Enki has really great starting shit. I personally decided on Dash, getting Necromancy later as most fights until I'd eventually get a scroll or soul stones were pretty much a nonissue. He couldn't hold most of the good stuff I got due to his... gauntness. I did get a lot of cursed weapons in this run which proved to be extremely helpful. Endlessly in love with how different each play can be but memory and reliance on previous experiences in dying and whatnot can be very useful, even if the layout is a different version.

I started a new run recently as Cahara and it is UNREAL how different it is. The leg weights came off and all that... Ragnvalder lost his stupid fucking arm again and had no issue banging it out immediately. Trying to keep the girl in my party. I gave her to Pocketcat for a sword in my prev. Raced thru the Thicket and got Le'garde. I think I was omw to D'arce but wanted to do some other stuff for an ending now that I'm not on a time limit. Have been contemplating getting Nas'hrah this time...

Also checked out Termina finally. I was pretty relunctant but the enemy designs were too good not to check it out and I fucking love it. Lots of focus on a god we don't see a lot of in F&H. It's a stark reminder that while the Gods have abandoned them, they have not left. They simply refuse to intervine. They will favor and gift and view, but they will not halt their demise in any way whatsoever. They will be present to their suffering. Love O'saa a lot. And Samarie. Among others. Lots of cool shit and ties. Anyway I rambled a lot please liveblog the shit out of your play for me.

Mmm after 3 seperate breakdowns with 20 minute breaks in between im in questionable mood, my eyes are still burning from tears so i will use my fragile state of mind to request a fear and hunger nsfw scenerio... fic... thing?

How about Ragnvaldr × Cahara? I know its a joke in the fandom that Cahara is a size queen for all the fucked up reasons you can imagine, but from the ingame art to fanart, he seems kinda like a hoe ngl. I know he has a wife but come on, let a girl dream. Basically the fic would be in the canon setting of the game, and the two would meet as normal, but Ragnvaldr notices that Cahara attempted to steal his shit. However, instead of getting mad and kicking Cahara on his merry way in the dungeon, he decides to keep a close eye on him. The dungeon is a dangerous place and its always good to have more hands for weapons.

One thing leads to another, you'll be the judge of that, and they end up sharing a bed. And Cahara once again proves himself to be untrustworthy by feeling around in Ragnvaldr's pockets. But what he touches isnt his pocket, unfortunately.

The prisons. The heavy oppressive nature of the sights to be seen in there would shake anyone to their core. Bloodied empty prison cells captured the true horrors of what happened to its unfortunate prisoners. All for except one.

“…hey…hey big guy..!”

Ragnvaldr stopped in his tracks and locked into the prison cell. A man with dark messy hair on the other side. He seemed to be in shape but he looked very tired. Bags under his eyes. He gave a tired smile

“Look.. I’ll give it to you straight… I’m in a tough one here and I could REALLY use your help. You look strong. You think you could get me outta here..?” He asked with a hint of desperation in his voice

Ragnvaldr analyzed the man on the other side of the bars. Could he be trusted?…then again…the dungeons are very dangerous and it could be better to traverse them with some help…

“Hmm… what is your name?”

“Cahara..! Of the south.”

“Ragnvaldr. If I were to help you out of here you will have to help me too.”

“Oh?”

“I am on a quest to find a person..and kill him. He is long way down these dungeons so if you are willing I could use the help.”

The mercenary didn’t even give himself time to think and answered immediately

“Yeah sure! I’ll help. I’d say I’m a pretty useful asset. Im a mercenary so I think I could be of good help.

Ragnvaldr only nodded in agreement. He held the bars of the cell. They were rusty and worn out but sturdy enough to keep someone from getting out. He gripped the bars and slowly separated two of them to make an opening for Cahara to get out.

“Woah…damn…you ARE strong..!” He said in awe. A little intimidated even.

“Ja. But you must promise me one thing. You will not deceive me. Since I have helped you, you must return the favor.” He held out his hand for Cahara to shake

“Yeah sure thing”

Cahara shook his hand then brought him into…a hug..?

“I can’t thank ya enough, man. I mean it”

Ragnvaldr was taken aback by this. He swore he felt something in his pocket but before he could react Cahara pulled off from the hug and smiled

“Well I’d assume you know the way?”

“U-uh ja. Follow me” He said with a hint of confusion. He was still cautious mainly due to Cahara’s “off” vibe.

They walked for a bit trying to find their way out of the prisons. Multiple corners were turned in silence. Ragnvaldr went to grab for something in his pocket but…it was gone… he stopped in his tracks. Cahara, who was pretty far behind him now, stopped us well, pretty taken aback.

“Cahara.” Ragnvaldr said sternly, not looking at him

Cahara seemed nervous

“Uh, yeah..?”

“Give it back. You took it.”

“Took what? I wouldn’t steal anything from you. Uh promise! I’m here to help after all heh”

Ragnvaldr turned around and looked at Cahara. He walked up to him and grabbed Cahara’s wrist.

“Give. It. Back.” He squeezed Cahara’s wrist tightly while giving him a stern glare

Cahara gulped. He was in a tight spot. Cahara was in no way weak. He had a fine build and could try to fight back but… that probably wouldn’t last long.

Cahara sighed. He shuffled through his pocket using his other hand and grumbled pulling the vials out and giving them to Ragnvaldr

He let go of Cahara’s wrist

“You made a promise. Next time I won’t be so forgiving. As it may seem I actually need to help. So don’t try this again”

Cahara nodded silently, clearly getting the message.

“You will walk by my side. You’re very sneaky. This will not happen again.”

Ragnvaldr turned around again and continued walking with Cahara catching up to his side silently

‘Damn this guy is tough. Really tough. I don’t want to stay here but I did promise… if there was just a way I could find to leave…hmm’

They walked for a good long while, encountered some enemies, nothing too bad, but it was beginning to get grueling

Cahara yawned and groaned loudly

“Ughhhh… man how long have we been walkin for? My legs are starting to sore….”

“…hmm…ja I suppose we have been walking for… a while” Ragnvaldr didn’t say it but even he was starting to feel tired “well perhaps there is a room nearby, keep a look out”

They walked for another long while until reaching a small stone room. Wasn’t much in it. A tattered rug, cabinet with some old drinks, and one singular bed. Cahara slightly glanced at Ragnvaldr

“Soooo…um… should I like… sleep on the floor? Or..”

“Nej, we will share it. We both need rest. We will make do”

“Oh..! Alright then”

This was certainly gonna be…interesting.

Just thinking about Endless Souls under the readmore. Long rambles.

With each passing day I’m digging F&H1 more and more, it’s got such a nice feel...

And I’ve been trying to figure out what exactly having an Endless Soul feels like.

Cahara’s the normal one of the 4 playable characters, who has little tie to the Dungeons of Fear & Hunger and nothing related to the occults. Yet he still pushed on, to give his partner her freedom away from the brothel.

Karin highly valued freedom for herself and for the people she stood for, and pushed herself through several other dangerous situations to do so. She can also be considered one of the normal ones, being wholly unrelated to the occult and rejecting its existence. 

Nilvan concocted that a massive spiderweb of a plan to get humans another god born from humanity, as a last resort for her / humanity’s freedom from the Old Gods. I think. I’m not sure how deep she went with it. She’s really not that normal, aside from not attacking the player post-godhood.

I guess Cahara’s intro text extends to all 3: Pushing yourself to do what you weren’t expected to specifically for freedom’s sake using innovative methods. 

But what does it feel like? Karin and Cahara both seem like the restless sorts. They’re pretty high-energy. Nilvan seems mellow and floaty, and even Orange said that he didn’t have a set personality for Nilvan until Dungeon Nights...

And if it’s about having drive, freedom, and innovation, then wouldn’t it also fit Marina’s narrative?

Probably a lot of these was decided just for the gameplay mechanics of Cahara + Karin having their skills, but I think it’d be interesting if the zodiac stuff was more fleshed out than it feels. Otherwise I guess it’d be the same as zodiacs in our world - having really blurred lines.
