William Fields - Fictions - continuing to push the boundaries of generative music, making it sound both introspective and playful
William Fields, the electronic musician working in areas of algorithmic composition and improvisation, makes his debut on GOTO with “Fictions”. Continuing a slew of releases across labels such as Superpang, Tokinogake and Conditional, “Fictions” is a perfect slice of Fields’ computer music – never robotic, constantly shifting and, at times, straight up jazzy. Fields is keen to state that these pieces are performed, with several of the tracks taken directly from public live appearances. Nevertheless, each composition retains structure and familiarity, both somewhat rarities in the majority of music made via similar processes. The eight tracks here display a wide range of aesthetic approaches, however, ranging from the raucous, freeform “Febih” through the computer jazz of “Obu” to the more luscious atmospheres of “Athal” and “Ifotux”. Fields has been working in electronic music since 1998, performing regularly between the United States and Canada. A frequent collaborator, his work has received high praise from peers internationally. For several years, Fields has developed his own music software, “FieldsOS”, from which the majority of his output is produced. A particular highlight in the construction of “FieldsOS” was a weekly spot on Resonance Extra in 2019, where the system generated an hour of algorithmic music each week, broadcast without any edits. As time progresses, so does Fields’ “music system,” with “Fictions” exhibiting some of his most organic machine-music to date. May William Fields guide you through his world of musical spaces and systems. Performed and mixed by William Fields. Mastered for compact disc by Finlay Shakespeare. Artwork by Meggie Wood.

Gyomei x Abused Cat Hybrid Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was the day before Gyomei Himejima’s birthday. Tengen, Kyojuro, Kanae, Sanemi, Iguro, Kyogai, Tomioka, Goto and Haganezuka, Gyomei’s coworkers, were coming up with a plan to celebrate his birthday. Tengen already agreed to have the party at his house and that his wives would cook. Kyogai was in charge of music, Haganezuka would help out in the kitchen, Tomioka would keep Gyomei busy and bring him to Tengen’s house and Goto would get the cake.
The big issue was what to get the blind, cat loving teacher. As they were discussing and arguing over what to get him, Kyojuro got an idea. “I know! Let’s get Himejima a cat Hybrid!” Kyojuro shouted. “Do you even know where to get one, they’re pretty rare” Iguro asked. “I do, although it’s mostly just animals, I know that they also house hybrids that need homes” Tomioka informed. “I’ll give you guys the address to the facility” he said as he wrote down the name and address before handing it to Kanae.
“Splendid, let’s go.” Kanae cheered as she and the others left to go to the facility. When they got to the facility, they entered and asked the worker lady if they had any cat hybrids. The lady led them towards the back where they house the hybrids. “We do, although we don’t have very many, may I ask which of you is looking for one?” She asked. “The hybrid is for our friend, we’re surprising him with one for his birthday” Tengen informed.
The lady proceeded to lead them to you. You were a Ragdoll/Munchkin cat hybrid. You had been abused by your original owner and rescued, now you sit here waiting down the days til your put down. You have a history of attacking people who have tried to adopt you, you have two strikes already on your record, two more and you’ll be humanely euthanized. You’re rather untrusting of people especially males, and you tend to stay in your cat form.
“I’m afraid we only have the one, although they are rather skittish and unfriendly, they were rescued from their abusive owner so they’re rather violent” They peered inside at you, seeing your fluffy fur and slightly stubby legs, you were adorable and Gyomei was absolutely going to love you. “They’re absolutely perfect, don’t you guys think so, Gyomei will absolutely love them.” Kanae said. The others agreed. “We’ll take ‘em” Tengen said as he left with the lady to sign the papers in Gyomei’s name.
Sanemi entered the small kennel and grabbed you gently by the scruff and put you in a cat carrier all too quickly. You couldn’t even put up a fight. You hissed at him and puffed up your fur as you tried to make yourself as small as possible. As they left, Kanae left to get you some human clothes, while Kyojuro and Iguro left to get you a few other necessities.
Later, at Tengen’s house, the party began and Tomioka texted that he and Gyomei were on their way there. When Gyomei entered the house, they all surprised him and the party began. After eating and drinking and having cake, it was time for presents. They had gotten him cat themed stuff like cat erasers, cat shaped sticky notes, a coffee mug with cats on it, etc. after opening up the other gifts, Tengen came out of his bedroom with the cat carrier you were in.
When Tengen put the cat carrier in Gyomei’s lap you hissed at Tengen, surprising Gyomei. “What is this, is this what I think it is?” Gyomei asked. The others then spilled and told Gyomei about you and your past as well as your two strikes, hearing that you were abused, he cried and promised you that he would never hurt you. Kanae came over and gave Gyomei the stuff for you in a bag. “This bag contains stuff for y/n, that’s their name. It has clothes, toiletries and other necessities.” Kanae explained. With tears in his eyes Gyomei profusely thanked his colleagues.
Sensing your discomfort, Gyomei explained that he wanted to leave, to which his colleagues understood. Gyomei gathered all of the stuff and once again profusely thanked everyone before carefully picking up the cat carrier and heading out the door. As he walked home, he began to talk to you. “Y/n, I’m terribly sorry for how you have previously suffered and I promise that you have absolutely nothing to fear from me. I simply want for us to be able to live comfortably amongst each other. I promise I will never hurt you and I hope that I can provide a better life for you” Gyomei stated as he continued his walk.
Once he got home he unlocked his door and took off his shoes before walking into the living room and setting down your carrier by the couch. He then opened the door and set the bag of stuff for you down on the couch. “I’m sorry but I’m afraid I wasn’t expecting for you to come home with me so you’ll have to sleep on the couch for tonight but tomorrow I’ll help you get settled in and get you a proper bed. I’m going to leave some food out for you, feel free to help yourself. I have work tomorrow so I’ll be heading to bed here very soon” Gyomei told you as he walked into his kitchen and began putting some leftovers together for you and heating them up.
After heating up your food and leaving it out for you, Gyomei left the kitchen and entered his bedroom for the night and bid you goodnight. After an hour, you slowly exit the cat carrier and transformed into your human form. You ate the food that Gyomei left out for you and you put some clothes on that were in the bag. Since you see perfectly in the dark, you explored your new home and wondered how a blind man can get around so easily. After a bit of exploring, you pulled a blanket out of the bag and walked over to a corner before making a little nest and curling up then falling asleep. The next morning when Gyomei woke up he got ready to teach and made you both breakfast and lunch.
“I’ve made breakfast for you as well as lunch, I’ll put them in the fridge for you. If you’re hungry between them feel free to eat whatever you find. I have to go to work now, I work at a school so I won’t be home until 6 o’clock. Feel free to unpack the bag of stuff for you, tonight when I get home we can either go out and buy or order what else you need online. Goodbye” Gyomei informed you as he got ready and left for work. After he left you got up and ate breakfast before going through the bag of stuff for you. You found a couple outfits, some underwear, toiletries like a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner as well as a brush for your fur. In the bag was also a collar and leash as well as a few cat toys.
After getting everything out, you decided to take a shower and get yourself all cleaned up while you had the chance. You didn’t expect to stay here for very long so you didn’t really bother with putting anything away but you made sure not to move anything around in case Gyomei wouldn’t be able to find it. After your shower you dried off using his towel, slowly inhaling the scent of the man. He smelled really good and you hated to admit it even to yourself.
As time passed you ate your lunch and took a nap until Gyomei got home. He took his shoes off and greeted you. “Good evening y/n, I hope you weren’t too lonely while I was gone. I ordered a cat tree with a scratching post and it should be here in a few days. I hope you enjoy it.” He smiled as he informed you. He walked into the kitchen and began making dinner for the both of you, you waited until he went to bed to eat and thus this became your habit.
Days like this pass as you have very few interactions with Gyomei. To your surprise, Gyomei has yet to get upset with you or force you to interact with him. When he realized that you had yet to put anything away from the bag, he cried. You found out that he cries very easily. Despite his huge frame, the man is actually very gentle and kind. When the cat tree came, he struggled with putting it together, you eventually sat beside him and helped him put it together. You figured it was the least you could do. Despite you being right next to him, Gyomei made no attempts to pet you, which you appreciated.
One night, after Gyomei went to bed, you waited and slowly crept into his room and jumped onto his bed in your cat form. You carefully approached the sleeping man and sniffed him before climbing onto his chest and nuzzling into him. After a lot of time spent near the man, you slowly became comfortable with being around him. Deciding to cuddle up to the man, you purred as you curled up to his chest and fell asleep, unaware that Gyomei was awake the entire time. In the morning, you get up before Gyomei and leave his room and get comfortable in your cat tree.
That day, when Gyomei got home early from work, he sat on the couch and relaxed. Sensing how tired he was, you slowly approached him in your cat form and jumped onto the couch, before walking up to him and rubbing yourself against his arm. You meow at him and crawl onto his lap and begin kneading the fabric of his shirt with your paws, careful not to ruin it. With tears in his eyes Gyomei smiles at you as he slowly reaches up to pet you between the ears. You purr and lean into his pets as he smiles and chuckles. “Such a sweet little kitten, thank you y/n” you licked his tears away as he cried. You then transformed into your human form and stretched out as you snuggled into the large man. You and Gyomei cuddled together that night and thus began the relationship between you and Gyomei.

Interview with Goto Shingo (Film designer)
Published in the hide BIBLE (by Akemi Oshima) 2008
Q1: When did you meet hide for the first time?
A: At the studio where X were staying before their debut.
Q2: Please tell us what kind of impression you had at the time.
A: A polite person, I thought.
Q3: Please tell us of an episode with hide that left an impression on you.
A: During a tour, he was diligent but playful, passionate but composed, a gentleman yet a monster, but it was all balanced well day after day.
Q4: What kind of person was hide to you?
A: A person I was lucky I got to meet.
Q5: If you ever saw him live, please tell us of your impression.
A: It was my job to record those lives, but during the recording they got me to shake with excitement plenty of times.
Q6: Out of hide’s songs, which is your favorite and why?
A: I can’t narrow it down to one single song, but the poetry hide wrote was relatable to people from the same generation, and I was mesmerized by it.

Battle of Tokyo 🌸 Masterlist
Tumblr media
🌸 Introduction
Before we begin, I’d like to set the record straight in saying that I do not speak or read Japanese. I bought these books because I’m very interested in the Battle of Tokyo and want to learn more about this amazing world, its story, and its characters.
I went through each book, copying the Japanese onto my computer before translating the text with DeepL. I can’t promise this will be entirely accurate, but I’m trying my hardest to work it in a way where it’s written properly in English.
This list will be updated as I get more stuff posted c:

For the record, I’m a femme and you will have to pry my cargo pants from my cold dead hands. The pockets on most pants aimed at women are a joke, if I want half a chance of fitting my phone or wallet in there it’s the only choice. That said, I’m not the biggest fan of pants in general (sensory issues), but when weather requires pants those are my goto.
they’re so good I have so many inventory slots.

The Curious Case of Moonfish
When it comes to League of Villains, for the most part you could say that the group was 'usually' handled decently. Sure, not everyone got their due time to super shine, but they at least had a moment to leave a good impact on the story...
All except for, debatably one:
Tumblr media
Here's Moonfish - arguably the most 'irrevelent' Villain of the League.
Hold it!
Now when I say that, I mean in a 'least impact' sort of way. Even Moonfish still had his due...kind of. He was the one that allowed us to see Dark Shadow when on a rampage. He got us to learn more of Shoji's quirk mechanics. More lore on how the law system works in MHA - namely death row does exist. So he does have some purpose.
But, the issue lies in if It's truly enough?
Think about the two other members of the defeated 3M trio and their impact on the story.
Muscular is connected to Kota because he orphaned the kid and his defeat signalled the fact that there are people out there that will be his Hero. Muscular, even in defeat, beat Deku to the point that not only could he not help save Bakugo, he had to change up his fighting style to be more leg based. He has a long lasting impact on the trajectory of the manga, and what doors could be opened by Deku now. He was also used to show that, yes, while a good chunkf of Villains are redeemable - Goto is not one of them. (Well, one can argue Deku didn't quite try, but that's another debate down the road).
Mustard also had significant purpose to. His fight showed that, even if it wasn't often, Class B's members would have significant time devoted to them and hold key roles in the plot. He also held a very major role of knocking out the majority of Class B and ensuring the Villains would have reduced numbers to fight overall, alongside his gas being the narratives way of preventing the Villains exit from being readily discovered. So while not on the same scale as Muscular, he's a vital part of the Forest Invasion.
Moonfish...um...he's...not quite the same level as the other two. Sure, we got to know more on Shoji's quirk, but, well, that doesn't really require Moonfish to be the only one to get that info (heck, you could even have Toga be the one to steathily slice Shoji's arms to get his blood to get the same effect).
While Moonfish allowed us to know death row exists, again, it doesn't mean he specifically needed to exist to provide that info either, especially with some focus on Tartarus coming up past Kamino.
But what of his contributions to the Forest arc. Which that is to say...um. Well, Moonfish probably contributed the least to the Vanguard's operations. Even Muscular, who got beat first, went down gravely wounding someone on their kill list. But Moonfish's track record well...
He cut off Shoji's arm...but he could regenerate it so it didn't matter.
He caused Dark Shadow to go berserk, but it only served to get himself taken down next...and again, Moonfish himself didn't need to be the one to cause Dark Shadow to go AWOL in the first place.
He fought Bakugo and Todoroki - but not only stalemated and couldn't really harm them, he was trying to eat Bakugo...you know. The person he was tasked to capture XD Something that would have outright ruined their mission since it was not on the game plan.
It also doesn't help that Moonfish's personality is...really flat as well. He's dedicated to his job, sure, but its constantly overshadowed by his love of flesh and insane nature. He's not a smug loudmouth jerk like Muscular who you just wanna see punched or someone that brings up intrigue like Mustard with his resentment of those with 'one note' Quirks. He's a crazy guy, but its not an interesting crazy that keeps you hooked beyond thinking 'ooh, this guys creepy' for a moment before moving on. As such, it's hard to see Moonfish as human like rest and not unlike a Nomu, which makes it harder for people to really get invested.
So you can see the issue here, Moonfish's contributions either didn't quite need him to really succeed or gain knowledge from, were undermined by the story itself, or were just a detriment to his team overall. He lacks the connection to past characters to really get people to root for his defeat, and he lacks being the opportunity for underused cast to get their time in the sun. He also just doesn't have the personality needed to really get people to think of him beyond just being the brief crazy guy for the League either.
Tumblr media
It's a recipe for being the odd one out in a trio that's already underused in the story.
And believe me does his role in the Second War not do him any favors.
Muscular at least had a spotlight as being the one to break other people out of jail and, even if flawed, showed that some Villains don't want to be redeemed or find peace - they just want chaos.
But Moonfish?
Tumblr media
All he got was a brief cameo as apart of the Okuto Island Villains, not even mentioned as a League member but 'Jailbreaker'. The disrespect XD! He's been demoted!!! The indignity!!! But, yeah, aside from this cameo in his new spiffy outfit, the story does nothing with him.
He doesn't really reunite or talk with the League of Villains that remain. He doesn't spout anything new or anything that recontexualizes what he already know. He doesn't even get his real name revealed like Goto. He doesn't go down meaningfully, isn't even acknowledged by Toga or Kurogiri. He just...kinda exists? And that's kinda the weird thing about Moonfish that sums him up in story:
He's a Villain that's creepy and kinda exists...that's it. His allies don't care about him (heck Compress REALLY does not give a fuck about him since he left him behind), the Heroes think he's troublesome but not on the same level as the High Ends or Toga, ooc he's not really someone that is given the same level of importance, he's just...kinda the filler villain meant to pad out the story? It's sad but sums him up pretty well.
...And it also doesn't help that in the Yakuza Arc, Horikoshi went about making two characters to 'replace' Moonfish in both Quirk and attitude, respectively XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Blade Villain's power under Trigger is essentially a better version of Moonfish attached to a person with a more sympathetic figure (even if he's kind of a dick still XD).
As for the raving lunatic with hunger issues that's also an experience powerhouse, Tabe's also more interesting and likable than Moonfish in that department. He's notable a social outcast due to his Quirk to the point that he legit doesn't care if he dies it it means he can help the one person who accepted him, and has made friends with the Trash Trio to the point that, even in his hungry state, he doesn't want to eat them. Which nets him far better than Moon being showing as uncaring to eating both Villains or Heroes alike.
So ontop of not really being liked or respected in and out of story, the narrative promptly had him replaced twice with one-shot characters who are essentially more positive takes on his power and archetype...
Yeaaaah, its hard being Moonfish. Honestly, had Horikoshi gave him Tabe's whole tribulations, where his Quirk affects him on a dietary, level he could have been received well more...but that also likely steps on Toga's arc. I did suggest back during my League Nemesis post for Moonfish that he could have been abused by his community, likely a cult in this case, to the point it warped his diet and sanity that eating 'meat'/people was his only way out and enhance his love for his job a bit more. It would give him something to stand out on his own two feet instead of just being 'the crazy one'.
But, as of now, Moonfish is pretty much stuck with the most 'irrelevent' League member for a reason

G1 Climax quarterfinals preview
Tumblr media
The A and B block matches for this year's G1 Climax are complete, so now we move on to the knockout stage. This is basically a six-man elimination bracket, with the top three from each block. Tonight's show is headlined by A2 vs. A3 and B2 vs. B3. The winners of those matches will advance to the semifinals on August 17, where it'll be A1 vs. A2 or A3, and B1 vs. B2 or B3. The two semifinal winners will meet on August 18, to decide the winner of the tournament.
Shingo Takagi vs. Great-O-Khan - In A Block, Zack Sabre Jr. finished on top with a 7-2 record, followed by four men tied at 5-4. Of those four, Takagi won block matches against the other three, so he took second place. Khan's tiebreaker wins over Tetsuya Naito and EVIL put him in third. So now these two will compete for the right to wrestle Sabre in the semifinals. Khan's KOPW championship is not at stake here.
This is, by design, a rematch from earlier in the tournament--Takagi defeated Khan on July 23. Whoever wins here will also give us an A Block rematch in the semifinals--Sabre beat Khan on July 20, and Shingo beat Sabre on August 3. I wouldn't have set it up that way, but oh well. Presumably New Japan wants the finalists to get a chance to avenge a key loss or two.
I'm delighted Khan has made it this far, because I think he's capable of more than he's been doing for the past four years, and I like that this year's format allows someone from out of left field to get this close to the big dance. That said, I absolutely don't believe he's going to win the G1, or even make it to the final. So I guess it's possible he could win here and lose to Sabre, I don't think they'll take it that far. Takagi vs. Sabre will look better on the marquee than Khan vs. Sabre, so I think that's the match New Japan will deliver. Shingo wins.
Konosuke Takeshita vs. Yota Tsuji - Over in B Block, David Finlay wound up in first place at 6-3. Takeshita and Tsuji were part of another multi-man tie at 5-4, with Takeshita officially in second place and Tsuji at third. Finlay will face the winner of this match on the 17th.
From an AEW fan's perspective, it's probably not a big shock that Takeshita has made it this far. But I'm a little surprised an outsider got out of the block--I kinda wonder if it's a last-minute change to work around Yuya Uemura's injury. New Japan likes bringing in guys from other promotions, but pushing them is another story. So I'm betting this match will be about Tsuji avenging his loss on July 20, before moving onward and upward.
Zack Sabre Jr. & Hartley Jackson vs. David Finlay & Gedo - Sabre and Finlay are waiting to find out who their opponents will be on August 17. Jackson, an Australian freelancer, appears to be stepping in for Kosei Fujita, who was sidelined earlier in the tour. Seems like he'd be the one to take the pin, but maybe if they like him enough Gedo will do the job instead.
Shota Umino & El Phantasmo & Jado vs. EVIL & Ren Narita & Dick Togo - Pretty standard good guys vs. House of Torture tag match. Jado or Togo will likely lose the fall. I guess Evil's team wins.
Tetsuya Naito & BUSHI vs. HENARE & Callum Newman - All but the top three matches are basically filler, but this one feels especially like filler. I guess Bushi loses.
Gabe Kidd & Jake Lee vs. Jeff Cobb & Francesco Akira - Kidd has started talking up the idea of pursuing the IWGP heavyweight tag team title with Lee. Akira will probably lose the match to help advance that storyline.
Hiroshi Tanahashi & Oleg Boltin & Toru Yano vs. SHO & Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Yujiro Takahashi - Tana's team holds the NEVER trios championship, but the belts aren't on the line here. If Evil or Ren Narita were in this match, I'd think the heels might get a win to set up a title bout on the next tour, but as it is House of Torture's team feels too weak for anything but an easy squash for the babyfaces.
SANADA & Taichi & DOUKI & TAKA Michinoku vs. Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI & Tomoaki Honma & Katsuya Murashima - Kinda nice to see Just 5 Guys (well, four of them) together again, and Goto and Yoshi reunited. Other than that, not much to this. Murashima should lose.
