YALL. everyone go watch story of kunning palace i swear it’s worth it im still riding an insane high after i finished it last night.
it’s a very good solid drama for 30 episodes kinda slow burn but well written with good characters and decent plots.
and then in the last 8 episodes, the guy’s sidekick tells him “maybe you should show her how you really feel. show her the real you” and he proceeds to go batshit feral insane. which after watching her pine after and then reject the most morally upright guy ever it fucking WORKS ON HER because she is ALSO insane!!
after that it’s just 8 episodes of him being sloppy desperate for her and begging her to give him an answer while she’s just there buffering because she has to readjust her whole worldview with this news that he’s liked her all along?? she went out to meet her former crush and when she got home he sat her down and made her eat a dinner he made. that was drowning in vinegar. because if he had to drink vinegar then SO SHOULD SHE. and after she doesn’t eat much at dinner he plops down a tray of her favourite cake. that he had given her before earlier in the drama. announces that he made it with his own hands. and she’s like :0 “you made it for me even back then?? but back then we were only….” and he’s immediately like “only? only what? what were we back then? what about now? is it different now? what are we?” and she’s just like .

my first photoshop animation EVER for my graphic design class!! :D i did the Virgin Mary & Jesus Christ <3
we were tasked with creating digital collages in line with the style of the Dada Movement which i will Not explain because i've already forgotten everything about it beyond vague emotions! i didn't really know what to do for mine so i went sorta the Basic Route and just did the bible LMAOOO however i think i missed a memo of some sort? everybody else was doing kooky fun fever dream things and mine was just... a downer......
this is abt mary and jesus and how bonkers insane it is to give birth to and raise a kid who you know is destined to Die For Humanity and how bonkers insane it is to be that kid. it makes me feel bad for mary!! and jesus especially!!!
to me, jesus is like fluttershy from MLP. that doesn't make sense. but i like this dude loads! he's endlessly kind!! hearing about how he gets bullied throughout the bible always made me :( for him... he felt very lonely! everybody dunked on him, his own hometown hated his guts, and even his own disciples didn't fully get him (like that one time he gave them literally One Thing to do and they just conked out on the spot. great job guys.)
i felt the absolute worst for him when he was up on that mountain (i forgot which) praying so hard he was sweating BLOOD in desperation for his dad to "pass on this cup" (ie. the burden of a martyr ie.ie. DYING) which showed how he didn't just smoothly selflessly accept his fate!! he was scared!!! and then he gets thrashed around and pinned up on a cross and dies from asphyxiation due to the head becoming too heavy to be supported by the neck or just infection or starvation or whatever!!!!! poor fella :(
anyways. about the animation.
beginning ballet - dont know what to tell you. i really love ballet. ballerinas are hardcore!! the dancer is mary and her little lamb is jesus!
falling tears - those are mary's!
two-headed lamb - i also don't know about this one... thought it looked cool LOL could represent how the rest of the world treated jesus with disgust... i really winged this project wahahaha
saturn devouring his son - the casual objectification of jesus throughout the bible really unsettled me. it was made very clear that the dude was basically a tool? and the dude himself admits it multiple times! that's effed. anyways, god sacrificing his own son reminded me of this goya painting hahaha since it's also father and son! "devouring" the sacrificial lamb / using him up
applause - because jesus went through all this hullabaloo the rest of humanity gets to frolic on, even the people who hated and beefed with jesus. so the applause is sorta like people expressing thanks? some of them are very superficial, not very grateful.....
sorry if this is blasphemous HAHAHA i don't know much abt the lore besides my own opinions formed from a single year of highschool bible class and my childhood memories of obsessing over this walmart kid's adaptation of the entire bible...
but animation is surprisingly super ultra fun!!!!! i thought it would involve a lot more crying?! animators always seem sorta tortured to me!

just saw (what i presume to be) a young artist asking another artist if it was “okay” to vent all their negative emotions into art.
i am pleading and begging younger artists to read one (1) book on art history or go to an art gallery for their own sake because jesus christ.
you understand that... that is the entire point of art, right?
art does not exist to sell products, to make money, or to only be about making the artist/audience feel good.
art exists to describe the indescribable, the transcendental, the whole range of human expression in all it’s beauty and all it’s bleakness without concern for markets or commerce or any of that shit because that raw expression of being is yours and to a certain extent it’s something you feel needs to be shared with the world.
or not! you can just draw and paint shit and you don’t have to show it to ANYONE because THERE ARE NO FUCKING RULES.
like you guys realise that goya painted the black paintings for a fucking reason, right? van gogh?? the german expressionists? surrealism??? fucking GUERNICA???
don’t let literally One Guy on The Internet (who probably has no undersranding of art to begin with, let’s be honest) dictate what you “can” and “cannot” do. this is not an inquisition, you will not be put on trial because you drew vent art one time or because you drew a nude study or furries or anime or porn or fan art or w/e
make cool stuff, weird stuff, make stuff for yourself, make stuff purely for your own enjoyment or for all mankind, make stuff to connect yourself and others to something beyond words
BECOME UNMARKETABLE, MAKE SOMETHING WEIRD TODAY

The Devil(s) of Metal Fight Beyblde.
Dr. Ziggurat, the main antagonist of Beyblade Metal Masters, shares many parallels and similarities with the Christian Devil.
He is a ruthless and manipulative executive of an enterprise called Hades Inc., who enjoys making "deals" with other people. Note that Hades and Hell were interchangeably used in Greek mythology to describe the afterlife. The deals he makes are almost like demonic contracts: Zeo had to become a lab rat to save Toby, losing his sanity in the process. Ziggurat takes advantage of desperate people like Zeo and even Julian.
Ziggurat transformed Toby into Faust, whose name comes from the main character of a German legend. Faust, inspired by Johann Georg Faust, made a contract with the devil: Mephistopheles would serve him, and after a certain number of years, the devil would take his soul. Faust sacrificed his soul either to gain knowledge or for material and personal gain, depending on the version. Toby accepted the arrangement against his will, and even if he was cured, he lost himself in the process. He can play Beyblade again, but as Faust, he is only a soulless tool.
The doctor himself seems to have "sold his soul," since he doesn't care about ethics or the fact that he is using children for his experiments. Hikaru explicitly said that some of the bladers incompatible with the arrangement system were so impacted by it that they had to end their careers.
Tumblr media
Physically, Ziggurat appears taller than most of the cast, though this is because they are all children. He has spikes of hair at the back of his head, like Damian, that emulate horns. He also wears a dark gray suit, which contrasts sharply with all the colorful characters (even his collaborators, Daidoji and Pluto, seem more colorful than him). He is as gray and dark as the hellish world Damian creates with his Kerbecs.
Tumblr media
His name comes from ancient structures called ziggurats, built by the Mesopotamians for cult practices. Daidoji's name means (literally) "great road/way to the temple". They were both part of the Hades cult, lead by Pluto who lived in a temple. However, Ziggurat can also be a reference to the German word "Ziege," which means goat. Ziggurat's design also emulates the animal, with his goatee and spiky hair. His Beyblade is Spiral Capricorn, and in the anime, its Bey beast is often depicted as a simple goat.
Tumblr media
This animal is often tied to the Devil and is one of the forms it takes. The painter Goya depicted a gathering of witches with "Witches' Sabbath" (Goya, 1798), where the Devil takes the form of a goat and is offered children to eat. While the doctor doesn't (seem to) eat children, he effectively despises them and shows a lot of disdain towards them. He also steals their innocence in a way. Zeo and Toby do not take back their Aries Bey; they now use Beys with the Spiral fusion wheel, reminiscent of Spiral Capricorn. Aries is a sheep and is typically associated with innocence. They cannot go back to who they were; they are permanently scarred by what they have been through during their time in Haves Inc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the scene where Zeo is stopping Ziggurat, he is at the bottom of the stairs, symbolizing a shift in power dynamics between them. This positioning could also symbolize Zeo casting Ziggurat back to Hell, as Hell is below the Earth in popular culture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" has previously utilized its antagonists, DIO (assimilated to God) and Diavolo (a mafia boss, assimilated to the devil), in a similar manner. DIO is upstairs (heaven), while Diavolo is at the bottom of the stairs (hell). I would add that in the Metal Saga, it is common for villains to fall: Nemesis and Daidoji fell into a pit, and Hades City fell into the abyss of the sea.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These falls can be interpreted as both a physical defeat and a symbolic triumph over an evil that is cast back into hell.
Ziggurat is a more traditional version of the devil who makes deals with people and manipulates them, while Nemesis embodies the devil of the apocalypse, wishing for total chaos.

I love YouTube I think it’s great I love watching videos and learning about new subjects .. but I fucking hate how clout chasing and sensationalism is ruining that, I can’t just pull up a video on something I’d like to know more about without listening for 1 second n being like: yea no. That sounds blatantly false and made up for the sole reason to give this story some more intrigue” esp when the person making the video doesn’t address how it isn’t a confirmed fact at all. Like Goya’s black paintings being treated like: just a .. little sight into a dark and twisted psyche” like did artists go insane on lead back in the day? Yes. Is it discussed that Goya might’ve suffered from syphilis which can affect the brain? Yes. Is his black paintings symbolic of him slowly going mad and insane and spiralling? Maybe ……… but most likely considering Goya had previously made political commentary through his art, either satire, social commentary or simply depicting the brutal scenes of the Spanish Inquisition, and considering that these “black paintings” were drawn in his dining hall and other rooms where guests usually are it’s more likely they are conversation pieces than a mad man’s last attempt to cling onto sanity. Especially considering their neat organisation and technique. BUT that doesn’t rule out the other theory. it’s just… if ur discussing Goya’s black painting I think it’s stupid to speak as if one theory is the right one when literally all are as likely to be true

Rewatching W is a different sort of pleasure - now I know where the story is going, it's really fun to notice all the themes.
There is so much about authors being devoured by their creations - the artist's insistence on killing Kang Chul makes me think of how Conan Doyle famously killed Sherlock Holmes because he was tired of him - here the metaphor becomes literal where mangaka feels as if he's being devoured by the story and hits back - but it's a take on being tied to a story that no longer brings you joy and wanting to change that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I love Goya's famous painting of Saturn Devouring His Children coming into play:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being devoured by your creation becomes literal in a sense in this drama but once again, it's metaphor made flesh. And also an interesting take on relationships between parents and children. There is a reason the artist analogizes Kang Chul, his fictional creation, to a son - I mean the painting is Saturn devouring his SON. And of course the whole "relationship" starts falling apart because the artist is concerned that Kang Chul may acquire free will and not always do what the artist wants - it's very much like relationships between parents and children who are growing up and want independence and their own way, and some parents don't take it well because they seem them as extensions of themselves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course Yeon Joo's whole character is a take on how we engage with fiction - this story is "death of the author" made flesh but also how fans shape narratives and who "owns" them - the whole story is very much a take a creator going "character X is dead" and fandom going "nope" and "saving" them in fanfics and other fan works, refusing to bow down to authorial will.
(There is also a take on how we interact with object of our fannish affections, be they fictional or real celebs or w/e. YJ is a self-proclaimed fangirl of the character of Kang Chul. But when she eventually meets him and gets to interact with him, one of the things she has to process is that he's fun to read about in fiction and cool and what not but in RL, someone with that type of background and personality will have damage that is not easy and fun to be around - the narrative has something to say about how object of fannish adorations cannot be two dimentional perfect specimens unless they are literally on 2d printed pages; they are real people and should be treated as such.)
God, I could write meta about this drama all day.

*Goya appears, covered in some strange dark paint. It’s staticky and definitely not ordinary *
Hello, my prince
(Faint)
Eugène barely has the time to answer the door and hear the stranger's stammered greeting before the man literally collapses into his arms.
Why, hello. Another ordinary day in this afterlife, he thinks.
He drags the unconscious man into Bessières' salon. Eugène is alone in the house currently, neither Bessières nor even little Hélène being home. Despite Bessières' invitation he had not planned on staying here. This is Murat's domain after all, and if there's one person Eugène does not want to owe anything to, it's Murat.
But you cannot leave a helpless man alone, can you? Eugène beds the unknown patient on a sofa. It's a somewhat stout, round-faced man, with dark eyes under heavy lids. The sticky paint covering his Spanish style clothes gives Eugène an idea about his guest's identity.
Could this be the famous painter Goya who recently has reached out to him?
The man is obviously sick but Eugène on a first glance cannot see any obvious symptom indicating the cause of his suffering. Maybe the man's skin is reddened and chapped where it came in contact with the paint.
The thick paint sticking to his clothes indeed being the one unusual thing about him.
Eugène has known plenty of artists in his life and himself has loved to draw and paint when he was but a boy. Yet he's never seen any artist so covered in paint like Monsieur Goya. In fact, when he carried the patient to the salon, getting some of the paint onto Eugène's own clothes has been inevitable.
Oh great. Yet another uniform ruined. That's number three now. Unless he can somehow wash it off?
Monsieur Goya? Well, assuming you really are Monsieur Goya. You're safe here, I will help you. Can you hear me?
If the patient stays unconscious, Eugène will try to give him something to drink, and probably have a closer look at the curious paint.

Saturn Devouring His Son wasn’t named by Goya. I feel like someone somewhere gave it a name so that it would be a little less horrifying. Sticking a name on that thing helps it make a little sense, like, ah yes there is something in our collective cultural consciousness that resonates with this visualization of pure horror, evil, panic, guilt, literally every bad emotion imaginable. Except of course it probably has nothing to do with Saturn. We’ll never know what it’s about; we just know how it makes us feel.
