*pops out of a rabbit hole* I really like the thought of Desmond being so /done/ with everything by the time that he uses the Eye, that he unintentionally askes the Eye to take him somewhere where he could have a family, and, instead of bamfing him to the Levant or to Renaissance Italy, Desmond ends up all the way in Ancient Egypt, somehow-or-other meeting Bayek, and, Bayek being Bayek, he ends up adopting/mentoring this traumatized child. Maybe Desmond de-ages, maybe not. kthxbye.!~

Hhhmmm… while it would be nice if Bayek gets to retire in Siwa to raise a deaged Desmond, AC Valhalla’s letter does make it appear that Bayek continued to be a mentor of the Hidden Ones after Origin.

So, in this scenario, what will most likely happen is that Desmond will be raised by Bayek as he continues to set up and train Hidden Ones. It would actually be more like Arno’s upbringing with Charles Dorian, going places to places and only staying until it’s time to move on.

Of course, Bayek would treat Desmond with kindness, more kindness and patience than the few memories we saw of him and Khemu. It’s partly because he’s more relaxed right now, having taken the role of a mentor instead of a warrior and it’s partly because he wants to be better, that he believes Desmond may have been some kind of gift from the gods for all the pain and hardship he had endured.

Desmond isn’t a replacement.

He’s meant to show to Bayek that he can move forward and that caring for a child does not mean forgetting his son.

Desmond, on the other hand, wouldn’t realize that he was being cared and raised by an ‘Assassin’. Why would be? As far as he knows, the Brotherhood had started with Hassan-i Sabbāh. Then he saw the Assassin insignia on the bureau they were staying in and Bayek’s missing ring finger…

And… Desmond, in this idea, would believe he’s in an alternate universe where the Assassins had been founded far too early and with a different name,

To Desmond, this isn’t his world but a clean slate.

He was so done with everything but maybe, just maybe…

This alternate universe would be better.

To him…

And to the future he wasn’t even sure about anymore.
