Jimmy Solidarity works for the esteemed god of Death, reaping lost souls and taking care of unsavory characters. He's recently finished his training, and is determined to do well on his first solo mission. Perhaps this "Tango" would be a good start. Only, the god of Death disappeared years ago, and Necromancer Tango Tek's long since discovered a way around dying. He can't say he enjoys Jimmy swinging through and killing him where he stands, though.

Thank you to my team for being as feral about this AU as I am, and kicking everything about it up to 110. I had so much developing this world with them!

Thanks to @onawhimsicot for helping me with the comic's dialogue, fixing my composition woes with "just add more smoke," and encouraging me to complete it in full color! While Graveyard Shift is the amalgamation of many of my interests, the main premise for this AU is loosely inspired by the webcomic, I'm the Grim Reaper, in both its apocalypse themes and its aesthetics! Not a required read, but highly recommend if you enjoy this au, as well as the anime and manga, Soul Eater!

I came up with a lot of AUs for this event but necromancer!Tango and reaper!Jimmy have been rattling around in my brain in separate AUs since before I started brainstorming for aufest. So I smashed them together, naturally.

Originally, Tango's outfit was going to be more like his Dungeon Master outfit but I wanted the setting to be more modern and Jimmy stole the fantasy cloak vibe from him already lol

Cecilia the groundskeeper said the ghosts have been extra cranky ever since that tour of schoolchildren came to visit last week. Parsimony Smit (1667 – 1721) disagrees, stating merely that the coming supermoon is what has all the spirits in a tizzy. Not that he would ever stoop to such behavior himself.

Parsimony Smit (“Death is a debt to nature due that I have paid and so must you”) is one of the more respectable members of the deceased community here, according to himself, unlike Archie Jack (1854 – 1881 “Now between / these carved stones / rich treasure lies / dear Jack his bones”) who never got over his childish love of pulling pranks. Cecilia said you should be fine, as long as you don’t bring anything into the graveyard you don’t mind mysteriously winding up in a nearby tree. You’re not sure exactly what you’ve gotten yourself into here.

The Graveyard Game is a solo-journaling game where you travel to a magical haunted graveyard in order to learn more about the community and write an ethnography on them. 

Pull cards to ask questions of the residents, roll dice to see how well interactions go, and get to know a host of colorful characters from prankster ghosts, to the cemetery gravedigger, to a local vampire, and a mysterious stranger. Unlock 12 different locations and gain levels in friendship and familiarity with the community as you document more and more in your field notes.

You'll need: A d20, d12, and d8, and a deck of playing cards

Neil Gaiman allegedly sexually assaulted someone while writing The Graveyard Book

"K" is the pseudonym used by the victim sharing her experience:

Rachel: On the 4th of April, 2007, Neil Gaiman flew K from Los Angeles to Heathrow for a fortnight's holiday together in the UK alone, the two of them. K tells us she was excited to be on this amazing trip with her famous boyfriend and not have to sneak around.

From his messages to her, it seemed like he was too. Neil Gaiman met her on arrival and they then took a taxi to Gatwick Airport to fly to Inverness in Scotland. They visited Loch Ness and stayed at his house on the Isle of Skye for three days. They then flew to Cornwall and drove to Red Ruth in the far south west of England. They stayed in an old tinners cottage with a wood burning stove hidden up a bridal path.

It was advertised as affording complete privacy. He spent the days in Cornwall mostly writing the graveyard book and then they'd occasionally go for walks or drives. She sent us photos from that trip.

Beaches, pubs, cliffs, glens, scarves, the heavy grey skies of the Scottish and Cornish summer. She looks happy. When you see their faces together in the photos, he's unshaven, craggy, she's around 22. She looks so, so young. But she said there were fights. Lots of them.

K: There are a lot of arguments. There is a lot of roughness that I felt compelled to take.

Rachel: What the photos also don't show is K's intimate agony. She told us that on that trip, she had her period and then a bad urinary tract infection.

K: I couldn't sit down. He would say, you know, I want to fool around, like, you know, and I would say, okay, we can fool around, but you can't put anything in my vagina. You just can't because I will die. And it didn't matter. He did it anyway.

Paul: He did it anyway. Although you told him you were in pain.

K: Very specifically said you cannot put anything in me. Please don't. It will hurt very badly and it will make things worse than they already are. Because I know for sure I remember forsure in Cornwall saying those words out loud. It wasn't just a discussion about like that hurts.

Like because I can't remember if I said that hurts. Don't do it or like please stop. I can't remember those other instances. I know we discussed it. I know it was a big part of why he would get upset at me and I knew that it was like something that I had to do to keep him around. Like it was expected of me, but in Cornwall, I remember because of that UTI and it was so painful that like I couldn't do anything. Like I couldn't enjoy the fact that I was in or like I was just in like screaming agony and I know I said it out loud then.

Rachel: On the 16th of April 2007, Neil Gaiman drove K to Heathrow for her flight back to Los Angeles. She says they stopped several times along the way so she could pee because of her UTI. She says it felt more painful because of the penetrative sex he allegedly performed on her without her consent. As to this specific allegation, Neil Gaiman's clear position is that it is false and again he denies any unlawful behaviour with her. He didn't respond to any other specific points or questions about this trip.

*kicks door down* I’m here to talk about knife play with endo and the idea of him carving his name into your skin.

JASPER. i’m frothing at the mouth rn. 

gn! reader. endo calls reader bunny a couple times. 18+ only pls. cw: blood, knife play, highly manipulative, possessive behavior.

he maps out your body with the tip of the blade, searching for the perfect spot. it’s cold, and you can’t help but shiver, flinching when he digs the flat side of the knife a little harder into your thigh as he chastises you, “how many times do i have to say it? don’t. fucking. move.” every word is punctuated with a press of the blade into your trembling form, and you take in a sharp breath when you feel a sudden sting. he tsks, “see what happens when you don’t fuckin’ listen?” 

you squeeze your eyes shut as his head dips down, wrapping his bulging arms around your thighs, hot tongue pressing into the tiny wound he warned you with. the contrast of his warm, rough hand on one leg and the cold, smooth surface of the blade on your other is dizzying. your eyes flutter open to find him gazing up at you, dark curly locks tickling you lightly. his tongue lolls out to display the subtle red smear before he swallows, a wolfish grin gracing his features when your pupils dilate at the sight of your own blood.

taking in a deep breath through his nose, he moves to loom over you, trailing the tip of his blade along your jaw, cooing, “scared already? ‘m just gettin’ started, bunny.” he buries his face in your neck, leaving a wet, messy bite just below your ear in hopes of getting you to ease up a bit. he murmurs reassurance along your skin as he trails down your chest, keeping eye contact, “this is gonna be good for us, remember? everyone’s gotta know who you belong to, yeah?” you nod and sniffle as a look of determination settles on your features, and he leaves another bruising mark under your collarbone. “that’s my baby. now sit still and pretty for me, alright?”

moving sporadically along your form, one hand wrapped around his knife and one squeezing at your flesh, he leaves lovebites on all the potential spots he could leave his mark on you, forever. the most appealing one, to him, is a spot right above your hipbone, where his thumbs naturally rest when he grabs at your waist. his eyes glimmer, and he’s adjusting the knife in his grip, using his empty hand to splay across your hips. he taps the tip of the knife on the area a few times, and purrs, “gonna do it right here, bunny. that good with you?” he doesn’t wait for a response before he’s making the first mark, tutting and cooing at your whimpers and twitches.

his name gleams in the low light, pinpricks of blood decorating the lines of it like sparkling ornaments. he glances back to you, captivated by the way you gaze soft and expectantly at him as you try to control your ragged breathing. he brings the blade up to his tongue, cleaning it off as he giggles to himself, giddy at the prospect of what you’ve just allowed him to do. there’s a warmth in his chest that could bring him to tears if he focused on it any longer, gazing down at you, completely lovestruck. he dips his tongue to lap at the rivulets of blood that cling to you so he can see the reddened, angry lines of his name, “哉真斗” carved into your sweet, soft flesh.
