i. i listened to the villain song from Wish and. oh my god. that is not a fucking villain song. we're bein punk'd.

I'M GONNA JUST SAY THIS i think the concept for the villain was actually kinda interesting but I feel like the villain song needs to be rewritten ASAP and istg if the movie is as *incoherent noise* as the villain song, then i fell like it'll need to be redone/reimagined, too

Petition to remake the movie but in 2D animation, with a better storyline and a better villain song (i would even like to see people on the internet get together to make it happen)

#A great episode tbh especially given the low budget. I feel like they really did their very best #And even though what I'm going to say next is probably going to be all critic - because I nitpick things and that's what I always end up–#talking about - I still want to underline that it was a very solid and enjoyable episode!!!#Alright the ss/kk was so 💞💞💞 every scene I had to rewatch twice or thrice akhscbashfb they're so cute!!!#Except for the riding scene tho. That scene gives me massive second hand embarrassment every time I just wish it will end as fast as–#possible pffttt. Mmmmhhh... The drawings weren't even too bad all accounted. My main complain is about the quicksand scene...#I feel like that one should be a slow quiet emotional scene. I never licked the choice of using the song as background soundtrack :/#I feel like it ruins the mood of the scene (it was still good though)#I also... Generally don't like the direction they seem to go for with Akutagawa's character in the anime‚ he seems quite a bit flatter–#compared to how he is in the manga. He can't be angry and evil ALL the time you need to show that softness get through from time to time.#If not what even is the point of his character. Yet in the anime he's angry (and not distraught) when he loses the mine craft and he's–#angry when he's questioning Atsushi about his motifs and he's angry when he's bragging about Atsushi's abilities to Goncharov and he's–#angry when he makes the promise with Atsushi at the end of the episode and eventually he'll be just as angry even when telling Atsushi–#to run away as he's sacrificing his life for him. It is pretty flat at the end of the day.#If I can say something about K/ensho Ono without being killed I think they do contribute to making him feel angry all the time.#But that said it's all probably poor directing choices (or simply choices I don't agree with).#Also‚ about cuts. Usually I try to be lenient about it– I understand it's hard to fit in everything and b/sd already does a very–#good job by adapting the manga almost panel-by panel. It's just that... You skip Akutagawa showing compassion for Atsushi after the–#orphanage director died. You skip Atsushi sharing the same compassion when Akutagawa loses his targed in the mines chase. You skip the–#“Nothing special about that. // I suppose he's far crueler than my own mentor.” line. And sure each of them may be negligible by their own #But together they wave a consistent web of relationship between the two characters you know? And it's a loss to omit them all #Well no mind. Again it was still a great episode overall!!!!#I think the colors in the mines could have been prettier in the mines but we can't have it all #Off to season 4!!! Omg I can't believe we got this far :DDD #random rambles #FINALLY was able to catch up in time for the season 3 finale!!!!!!

the really beautiful landscape/skyscape animation in makoto shinkai's works tends to be the big thing i see focused on and that is understandable and deserved like the weather and lighting effects are unREAL but i do think we should also appreciate how absolute insane the plotlines of his original movies get. at least two movies with in universe catastrophes with major ecological implications. the guns and explosions. theres that one movie i havent seen yet with the guy who turns into a chair (?)

man i really enjoy revue starlight. it's been a while since an anime could get me hooked like this! as always, i am incapable of caring about the main couple and prefer literally everyone else (mayakuro N°1 in my heart though) but thankfully they all get a decent amount of screentime. also, and this is new for me, the singing parts don't give me second-hand embarrassment. that's huge

it's so funny to me when i see people talk about the mcu like "oughhh they should have used [x] character's theme in the soundtrack in the 5 second scene they appeared in" like you really think the mcu soundtracks are cohesive enough across movies to be able to incorporate motifs and themes in a meaningful way. you really think that. lol. lmao, even.

#i will never stop clowning on the mcu soundtracks oh my god #theyre trying soooo hard to be a Cinematic Series that all tie into each other but theyre giving the soundtracks the bare fucking minimum #and being soo lazy in how they try and tie in character themes when there are NO consistent motifs to be seen.#the only actual consistent motif is the actual avengers theme which yeah. ok ill give them that its a great theme.#but idk. they just aren't very good at making good soundtracks for the story. its just generic Background Music.#there's no connection to the story. there's no connection to the characters. its just noise.#''but its because each soundtrack was composed by a different guy'' look at transformers.#steve jablonsky did most of the movies but the newer one? jognic bontemps.#and yes they are very clearly two different styles of composition but YOU CAN TELL THEYRE FROM THE SAME MEDIA.#YOU CAN TELL ITS A TRANSFORMERS SOUNDTRACK. and bontemps even brought in some of jablonsky's motifs #to incorporate into key moments for an added punch and IT WORKED SO WELL!!!!!!!!!#and idk. its funny seeing dudebros be soooo obsessed with the mcu soundtracks when many of them are just. not that good #the exceptions of course are black panther the winter soldier avengers 1 iron man 3.#black panther soundtrack call me LITERALLY any time #winter speaks #mcu #woe another host of Music Opinions be upon ye #orchestral music tag

Underappreciated aspect of Commander Tartar: Tuba

#I LOVEEEEE the marching band aspect to the initial telephone theme. the dinky sounding tuba + snare combo is really really good #It’s so bouncy. love it. and then. THE TUBA COMES BACK IN THE BLENDER COMPLETION THEME!! it’s a little hard to hear but it’s there you can #definitely hear the funny tuba in between the two repeats of the melody it’s great.#In general I love the octo expansion soundtrack so much it’s easily my favorite splatoon soundtrack out of anything #it does such a good job scoring everything and it all sounds so good. love everything in the end bit especially #I’m listening to it right now I love the new version of the cuttlefish theme with the snaps it’s cute. I loveee how it transitions into the #character creation theme too it’s so good..#IM A SUCKERRRRRR FOR THAT MILITARY SNARE ITS SO GOODDDDD I love it in anything

Seventeen by Sharon Van Etten playing at the beginning of S2E1 of Yellowjackets had me LOSING MY FRIGGIN MARBLES OMG I LOVE THAT SONG SO MUCH AHHHHH 😭

#hearing it again gave me INSTANT flashbacks to the majority of 10th grade #at one point i had that song on loop for like a month #it means so much to me #I've cried to it #I've screamed to it #I've had a mental breakdown to it at 1 am on my 17th birthday after I'd spent it entirely alone #(i turned 17 in May of 2020 so being with friends was an absolute no go at that time)#i just love seeing songs i love but are somewhat underground be used in popular media it makes me so happy #also love how great the soundtracks for the show is in general #banger after banger #yellowjackets soundtrack #yellowjackets season 2 #yellowjackets
