[*pats Odysseus's head* This bean can fit so many emotions in him] Odysseus slammed his bedroom door, rattling the pieces on his chessboard and the writing utensils on his desk. He paced the room, trying to calm himself down, but his chest felt tight, and his hands shook. A lump started to form in his throat, and tears began to collect in his eyes. He shouldn’t cry. He can’t cry! There was no reason to break over something he couldn’t change.
But he couldn’t help it. Odysseus sank to the floor, his emotions crashing into him as he curled into himself.
Odysseus heard a knock at the door, but he stayed quiet. He thought if he didn’t answer, whoever it was would leave.
“Odysseus? Are you ok?”
It was Polites. Odysseus immediately felt his throat tighten in guilt. He pushed him. He pushed his best friend. Odysseus could have hurt him! Why was Polites here? How could Polites be so stubborn to forgive anyone no matter what? He shouldn’t have to. Odysseus felt like he didn’t deserve Polites’s forgiveness so quickly.
“Go away,” Odysseus replied.
He felt the pang of embarrassment. His voice sounded weak and strained. It would be obvious to anyone that he was crying.
“We’re coming in anyway, alright?”
Odysseus looked at the floor as the door creaked open. He regretted not locking it as Polites and Eurylochus entered and sat beside Odysseus.
“I told you to go away.”
“We’re not going to leave you,” Eurylochus said.
“It’s not good to be alone when you’re this upset. You’re so out of it you’re shaking!” Polites added, putting a hand on Odysseus’s shoulder.
“I’m sorry…” Odysseus whispered.
Polites tilted his head. “For what?”
“I shouldn’t have pushed you like that,” Odysseus said, his voice breaking, “Everything these last few days was too much, and it all felt like it was crashing in on me, and I just… I don’t like her like that.”
“And that’s okay,” Polites said as he put his arms around Odysseus, “It’s no good bottling your emotions like that, alright? You have to tell us what’s wrong if something doesn’t seem right so we can help you.”
“We’re here for you, Odysseus,” Eurylochus said, “We’ll listen.”
“And we won’t think any less of you if you tell us how you feel. You’re our brother, Odysseus. We care about you.”
Odysseus buried his head in Polites’s shoulder and allowed himself to fully let go. He wrapped his arms around Polites tightly, and Polites held him close as he sobbed. Odysseus felt Eurylochus hug him from behind, and the little prince counted himself lucky to have such good friends. He turned into a blubbering mess, barely able to get out words of appreciation between the hiccups and sobs. Polites and Eurylochus held him regardless until Odysseus could pull himself together.

Tumblr media
The time had arrived to meet Hephaestus and you were nervous yet excited on what to expect.  You hoped the same spark from your first meeting would be there, as your conversation came so naturally.  However, at the party there was no pressure, here there was.  You tried to put that part out of your mind, trying to focus on the fact that this was just another chance to get to know him better.  You arrived at the base of his home, which rested on top of a hill.  The staircase was elaborate, mechanical railings and stairs leading up the steep hill.  However, the stairs never felt like climbing, due to the nature of the forgery.  You couldn’t help but smile at the beautiful craftsmanship.  You were looking forward to seeing more of his work.
Once at the top, there was a gate just as elaborate as the stairs.  To the side, what mimicked a security guard booth, the window opened.  Inside was a cyclops.  You knew they worked in a volcano, but you had never seen one up close.  They were kept away from the other gods for many reasons, mainly for aesthetic and seeming lesser than.
“Hello”  You said sweetly.  Your charm is always present.
“What is your business?”  It responded in a nail-on-chalkboard voice.  You didn’t show you cringed.
“I am here to see Hephaestus.”  You responded with a smile.
“No one visits him.”  It growled.  For a moment you wondered if you had the right time.
“My name is Aphrodite, I believe he is expecting me.”  Your charm must have an effect as the creature appeared to soften, if that was possible.
“Highly unusual.”  You thought you heard him say.
“I am happy to wait, if you want to make sure.”  You tried to charm speak to see if he would open the gate.  He closed the window and after a few moments he opened the gate, appearing on the other side.
“Thank you, what is your name?”  You asked, walking through the gate.  You weren’t sure they had names but they made you curious as you had never met one before.
“Arges.  Follow me.”  You didn’t know if he was always this gruff, or if he was softening to you.  You pretended he liked you.  You followed him up a ways, entering big ornate metal doors.  Inside wasn’t very elaborate, but still impressive.  Clearly Hephaestus didn’t spend too much time in this part of the house as there was hardly anything worth mentioning.  Immediately what came to mind was how to make it beautiful, but you focused on the walk, and tried to put it from your mind. Occupational hazard.
“Master is in the forgery.”  Arges said, leading you down what seemed like another endless staircase.  It had the feel of a dark, dank tower.  It got immediately warmer, and you were soon hot.  You tried to ignore it, recalling the forgery was in the heart of a volcano.  Eventually you reached the bottom, and another door.
“Wait here.”  He said, going through the door.  A few moments later Arges reappeared.  “Follow me.”  Not one for conversation you noted.  But somehow he didn’t repel you like the gods said, in fact you found it endearing.
You walked through a few different craft rooms until you got to what felt like the hottest part.  There was what seemed like a huge oven, and you saw the back of the shirtless god.  Your breath hitched but you caught yourself. Even though his back was scarred, and you could see his chiseled physique, you could tell not every bone had healed right. You couldn’t help but recall the stories of his childhood, yet he was more beautiful than you remembered and you were surprised how lovely he was, for not being a god of anything remotely beautiful and remembering his sad story; at least what you knew of it which was mostly gossip.  He kept working in the loud, hissing room, and you decided to make yourself known.
“Hello Hephaestus.” You thought that was a safe start.  He stopped, grabbed a rag to wipe his hands, and turned around.  His dark, piercing eyes bore into you and his dark hair tried to cover them, but luckily was not successful.
“Hello Aphrodite.” He continued to wipe his hands and stare.  You didn’t let yourself break eye contact, and maintained your composure.  After a moment, “You’ll have to excuse me, my work is never done.”  You smiled.
“I understand, you must be very busy, so I am even more thankful that you would allow me to take some of your time today.”  You were thankful for your gift of charm, as you wanted to make a good impression.
“Yes I am.”  Was all he said, walking toward you.
“I am impressed by the size of your forgery.”  You tried to make conversation.  He smirked.
“This is only my tinkering room, I have much bigger rooms for different needs.”
“Are they all this hot?”  You tried to tease, hoping you weren’t sweating.
“Probably hotter, we are not in the heart of the volcano, far from actually.  But we can leave as I am sure you are not accustomed to such weather.”  He made to a different door, there seemed to be many doors in many rooms, and you were sure you were lost.
“No I am not, but I am fascinated so maybe I could have a tour, after a cold drink.”  You smiled.  You swore you saw the corner of his mouth turn.  You knew that you would keep trying to make him smile.
“This way,” he said, opening a door for you to enter.  As you passed, you noticed he smelled of smoke and mint.  An interesting combination but one you knew you immediately liked. You might be in over your head already.
Tumblr media
He had led you to a balcony, where a different cyclops had set down ice cold drinks.
“I figured this would be best.”  He said, handing you a glass.  You gratefully took it.
“Thank you, how thoughtful.”  You took a sip.  “Do you get so hot, or are you accustomed to the volcano?”
“I suppose I am used to it now, I hardly notice as I am so focused on my work.”  He put a shirt on, and you couldn’t help but be disappointed.  Interesting.
“I suppose that makes sense, since you have been working there for ages.”  And you meant ages, close to eons.  “Do you enjoy it?”  You ventured, knowing he was put there more for the sake of appearances rather than by choice.
“I enjoy my work.”  He took a sip from his glass.
“You keep interesting company.” You mused.
“You mean the cyclops?”
“I have never met them before today.”
“And what do you think?”  He stared at you, clearly interested in your answer.
“Honestly, they are not at all as the gossip portrays them.  But I suppose that just shows how unreliable gossip is.  I enjoyed Arges.  He is gruff, but I kind of enjoyed the candor and unassuming way.”
“I enjoy not having to put on airs or feeling the need to fill silence.”  He responded honestly.  “I am glad you feel that way, most on Olympus would not.” he seemed pleased by your answer.  You were glad to be learning how to read his subtle allowances of emotion.
“Unfortunately that is true.”  You turned to look out from the balcony for the first time, unaware of him staring.  He made to stand closer, still respecting personal space as you walked to the edge of the rail.
“Did you design the entire house?”  You asked.
“I did.”
“It is all so lovely, it somehow feels just like you.”  You mused.
“And you can tell it is me, how?”  He seemed amused.
“Oh, well, I don’t know how to explain it but it seems unassuming, complicated, but not at all fake.  Sturdy, without being over the top, reliable, but with character.”
“You seem to have put a lot of thought into that.”  You turned to look at him.
“I suppose, but anything with beauty or charm, I have to think about, so I suppose I did put thought into your home.”  You tried to save yourself, as it could be taken in a way  that made you seem to have thought about him more than you should let on.  You tried to change the subject.
“It seems we must always meet on a balcony.”  He turned to look out.
“I figured it was a good place, the first meeting went well in that setting.”  You smiled, happy to know he thought fondly of your first encounter.
“Speaking of, I am thankful you agreed to meet today.”  You figured it was a good time to clear the air.  It would have to be talked about sooner or later.
“I was surprised when Hera brought it to my attention.”  You noticed he didn’t refer to her as his mother but decided to not comment on it.
“They want me to marry someone, and soon.  I have only recently been told myself.”  You figured being honest was the best course of action.
“I heard you and Ares were together, or would be soon.”
“Don’t believe everything you hear.”  You referenced his words from that first night.
“I suppose you are right.”
“I thought I would be forced to marry Ares.  I didn’t even know you were on your mother’s list of eligibility.”  He bristled at the mention of mother.
“I am not.  But she told me of your predicament.”  He stopped.
“And having been told of it?”  You softly pressed.
“I don’t know, I just figured getting to know each other wouldn’t be the worst thing.”  He half smiled at you.  This caused you to laugh a little.
“I am glad I am not completely repulsive to you.”
“Not at all.”
“I have to say that is a little surprising, Hephaestus.  After all, you hardly entertain anyone, much less those you don’t know well.”
“I enjoy being on my own.”  The way he said it didn’t have you fully convinced.
“Do you enjoy being on your own, or enjoy not having others overwhelm you?  There is a difference.”
“Clever girl.”  He looked at you again.  “I enjoy others not looking at me and how unappealing I am.”  You could tell he believed that and it hurt you.
“You are not unappealing.  I think you give yourself too much credit for that.”  You let out a quick breath, and turned away.  “Remember I am the goddess of beauty and I also saw you shirtless.”  You flirted a little.
“That was a little trick.  I wanted to see your reaction.”
“You are playing games with me?”  You were surprised and amused.
“If we are to know each other better, it is best to know if you can stand my presence.”  He stated.
“And did I pass your little test?”  You asked, taking a step closer.
“You were kind enough to not be completely repulsed, at least to my face.”  He smirked.
“I think you are going to have to learn to read me better.”  You mused.  “For I was not repulsed, the opposite in fact.  I admired your fit physique, and noticed no blemishes.”
“Then you lie, you have seen my arm, and now my back.”
“Your arm is missing, yes.  But does that mean it is a blemish?  You have faint scars, but does that mean they are repulsive?  Does one mean the other?”  His face darkened.
“Yes.”  You took slow steps until you reached him, feeling like you would scare him away with quick actions.  You reached out to touch his covered arm.
“Your wonderful craftsmanship has made your arm better, more functional than a real arm.  That is truly a gift to accomplish such a feat.  As for your scars, they are not repulsive, they are unique to you, they make you who you are.  And I am enjoying getting to know the man you are.”  You told him sincerely, hoping he would somehow believe that.  He just kept looking into your eyes with a gaze so intense, you thought he could see to your metaphorical soul, if you had one.
“You really aren’t lying, are you?”  He asked after a pause.  You still hadn’t let go of your touch.
“No.  And I will promise to be honest with you.  I feel that I can be.  You have given me no reason to think I can’t be myself.”
“I want you to be yourself, I want to get to know the goddess of beauty, beyond the front she puts on.”  You could tell he meant that as well.
“I guess we both hide, just in different ways.”
“I guess so.”
“Can we agree to try not to hide from each other?”  You asked him, knowing he could hear the insecurity in your voice.  However, for the first time in a long time, you didn’t care that someone saw your vulnerability.  You felt safe.
“I will try.”  He responded honestly.  He then grabbed your other arm.  “But you might have to help me with that.”  If you didn’t know better, you would have assumed Zeus was here, with the electricity you felt in his touch.
“Then I suppose you will have to see more of me.”
“I would be okay with that.”  And you both had genuine smiles.

In the Underworld
Zeus, drunk: Hades, my brother! Can I sleep here tonight? *Hick*
Hades, one eyebrow going up: Why? What have you done?
Zeus, shaking his head innocently: Nothing, nothing. Just ... I maybe have destroyed Hera's garden with a few lightnings. Just maybe.... *Hick*
Hades, looks shocked: YOU DID WHAT??
Zeus: As you can understand, I took some pills and drank a few bottles of red wine *hick*, so the flowers tried to attack me and I had to defend myself! *Hick*
Hades, shaking his head: Sure..
Zeus: It's not a big deal, Hera only needs to calm down.... *Hick* She will kill me otherwise.
Hades, having an idea: Of course, be my guest!
Zeus, smiling: *hick* Thank you so much brother!
A few minutes later
Hades, calling Hera: Good Evening, do I speak with Hera? Oh Hera, wonderful. I just wanted to tell you that your foolish husband is here! You can kill him, I mean pick him up, anytime you want!

- in a lavender scented bath | Izuku x reader

SUMMARY: dealing with the gods was never easy; it would seem as if you were carrying the entire globe on your shoulders together with them, but one of those divines would always give you something less havier, something as light as a feather, the sun itself to brighten your tragic days. And so, you decide to repay him in a manner most amiable, with love overflowing.

The Olympic Greek gods are an embodiment of power, grace, and beauty. From Zeus, the king of the gods, to Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, each deity is a symbol of perfection in their own unique way.
Among the Olympians, Apollo is a god of exceptional beauty and elegance. He is often depicted as a youthful, handsome figure, with flowing golden hair and a radiant smile that could light up the heavens. Apollo is a god of light, music, poetry, and prophecy, and his multifaceted nature is reflected in his physical appearance.
"Your stories are always so fascinating, Apollo, but do tell me, what is your mortal name?"
.
.
.
“Izuku.“
“Hm?“ You found yourself utterly silent in his embrace, while his mind raced with thoughts of what was to come next.
"Pray tell, my dearest, feeling well?" wondered divine being, placing his rough hands on your hair once again, lighty, so lighty. He continued to scrub, positioning a small kiss on the crown of your head.
“Oh, Izuku.." you wailed.
“..my energy doth fail me sorely."
He has been looking at your bare back with a blue expression on his face for a while now, having his arms moved from your hair to your lower body. He held you adorably close, his breath gently tickled your right earlobe as he murmured sweet words of affection.
And while his eyes slid considerably over your back and shoulders, yours just stared silently at the water, observing it, staring at it.
There’s an old saying that, without a queen, a king's reign may falter, however, Izuku was far from foolish.
On one occasion, he recognized the cause of your sudden weariness in the sparkling depths of your eyes. Though there was little he could do, he was determined to alleviate your suffering and bring a measure of harmony to your plight, in his own godly fashion.
"My dearest, may your rest be blessed, for you have come to me to nourish your soul with love and tranquility. Lean on me, and find solace in my embrace."
You listen and lean back slightly, still in absolute silence. But now you can hear the soft humming coming from his beautiful voice along with the overflowing water surrounding.
Time passed quietly. You found yourself slipping into a long, refreshing sleep, as if you were caught in the midst of a serene summer reverie.
Once he gave you that little kiss again, he placed another one in a different spot, now on your warm forehead. Carefully checking to see if you were still with him, or perhaps, he had already taken you away into the clouds.
“What a sleeping beauty you are..“ murmured not only to himself, aware that your immediate reaction would reveal whether you were listening closely, and there it was you, grinning from ear to ear, indicating that you had heard every delicate word he had breathed into the silence.
“Behold, for it appears that the slumbering beauty was not truly sleeping after all, was she?"
You turn to him, having your chest over his, wrapping your arms around his neck.
“Oh, you..Rest easy, for there are no secrets held within your heart that I cannot hear, Izuku.”
The water gently dances around the two of you so that every time you glance at it, your eyes notice tiny crystals on the surface that blend into the transparency of the liquid.
And only those white columns that surround you two on all four sides, you are gifted with a breathtaking view that extends in every direction, offering a glimpse of all the forests that lie before you, which are very well observed.
Even the blazing sun could not compete with the radiance of your beloved, who dreamed beside you, its light casting a warm glow on every corner of your surroundings.
“You’re beautiful like this.“
“Like this?“ Izuku’s eyes now shone strangely at your suddeness.
“Always,“ you reached for his freckled cheeks, which reminded you very much of the relationship between a mother and a newborn.
“..but now you’re indescribable, the brilliant orb conversing with another of its kind, doesn’t it sound so..magnificent?“
Before Izuku could get the chance to even open his mouth, you swam right behind his figure like some kind of mermaid, even though you were a pure divine.
Then, you took a splash of water in your palms to moisten his also-freckled shoulders. With each passing moment, the weight of the world upon him grew lighter, and ligher, and finally, Izuku found himself at ease, dismissing the never-spoken answer from the side.
"Uhm, I must ask.” he wondered.
“Does your soul truly.. find solace from the torments that have─"
“Favorite scent, darling?“
“Oh, uhm!...you?“
“For the sake of the gods! You little fool! I meant about the soap..“ you both squealed.
“O-oh, the soap, right..lavender..?“ uttered the gentle deity, a bit lost.
Your hand was reaching for a lavender-scented soap like this bath itself while taking olive oil in the other hand to rub on his shoulders and back in particular.
A bath in lavender-scented water soothed the nerves, but for your darling, you wanted it to be more than just a bath.
“May you grant yourself respite, and let your body find ease.“
“V-very well..“
As you finished washing his sturdy shoulders with great care, your hands gradually slide down to his arms and gently rub them with the soap. But the more you focused on his smooth skin, a yearning to cherish it overcame you, your lips getting into a touch with his skin.
“I can feel your goosebumps.“ you smiled sweetly.
Light kisses trailed many of the places of his skin, one after another, and only then the last ones were on the back of his neck, then on his warm ears, including the spot just behind those shy earlobes.
And so, you swam slowly in front of his flushed face to continue.
He waited, waited in silence for your next, yet so lovely moves which you’ll perform miraculously, as always. With gentle, feather-light touches, you pressed your lips to his forehead, then another one on his cute nose and along with his two cheeks. Showering him in affection.
Soon the two of your sneaky hands were sliding around his torso, too, murmuring, your voice low and musical.
"Are you prepared, my love?"
"Prepared..for what, pray tell?" he replied, his tone filled with curiosity. But then, without warning, your fingers began to dance across his waist, tickling him mercilessly, stubbornly not letting him find a source of escape.
"Pfthm! Ce-ease this, you mischievous beast!" he exclaimed, his laughter ringing out like bells. You took a good look at him, listening with all your ears and heart the childish-like laughter of a grown man, wishing it to last as long as possible.
But, with resolve, you put an end to the frenzy that had consumed you both, granting him a chance to breathe once more by putting your hands to rest and your head under his.
And so, with the light water, silence reigns again.
This moment is nothing short of enchanting; just you, him, and the two of you together,
in a lavender-scented bath.

"What did I ever do to you?"
*TW: Mild self-harming tendencies*
*After the return of Dionysus from the East*
Dionysus: *storming into Hera's chambers, leading the doors to fly open* WHAT DID I EVER DO TO YOU?
Hera: *braiding her hair, looking at the mirror, barely acknowledging her nephew's presence* What do you mean?
Dionysus: I ASKED, WHAT DID I EVER DO TO YOU?
Hera: *typing a ribbon to make the braid stay in place* Nothing. Why do you ask?
Dionysus:
Dionysus: *scoffs* It's because of my mother isn't it?
Hera: *pretends to keep knotting the ribbon*
Dionysus: As if any of that was my fault anyway!
Hera: *her calm demeanor begins to fade*
Dionysus: I WASN'T EVEN BORN!
Hera: *stands up and faces him with a stern tone* But you are her child!
Dionysus: AND THAT'S MY FAULT?? DO WE GET TO DECIDE WHO WE'RE BORN TO NOW? THAT'S SOME NEWS TO ME TO BE HONEST!
Hera: You were born from an illicit affair. You are an illegitimate child. A-
Dionysus: -mistake. *nods with teary eyes* Is that what you were gonna say?
Hera:
Hera: No. I-
Dionysus: Save it. *sniffles* I just didn't know the fault of an illegitimate affair even lied in the hands of an unborn child.
Hera:
Dionysus: But you know what?
Dionysus: I can never bring myself to hate you. *a teardrop rolls down his left eye* Because I always adored you. You were the the last person I expected to plot against me.
Hera:
Dionysus: I knew you were always aloof with me, distant, and I kept thinking why that is. What I ever did to you to deserve such treatment. But I thought, well, everyone has their least favorite person, and maybe that was me. And that one day, you will grow out of this and love me. Someday. And I was willing to wait and bet my life on it.
Hera: *her sternness now begins to fade, and her face grows soft. Her lips start shaking*
Dionysus: *sniffles and another teardrop falls from his right eye* But I never thought THIS was how much you hated me. That you'd go this far to have me killed.
*Hera barely realizes that her eyes are getting teary as well now. She wants to speak but something is holding her back*
Dionysus: I'm sorry.
Hera:
Dionysus: A hundred times, I'm sorry for what my mother did. I'm sorry for what Father- sorry... I mean Zeus did I...... *breaks down on the floor* I'm sorry.
*Hera looks down to see his nephew, now knelt on the ground, sobbing uncontrollably. Now it is her turn to shed a teardrop from her eye. She wants to go near him, but isn't sure to do what, exactly. Does she want to hug him and tell him it wasn't his fault? Or does she want to reassure him that he is as much guilty as Semele? She isn't sure. So she just stands where she is, watching as Dionysus stands back up, rubs his face with his hands, sniffles a bit, and tries to come back to his calm composure.*
Dionysus: *sighs heavily* Sometimes I just wished I never came back. Wished Styx would just....... drown me or something.
Hera:
Dionysus: Would've been enough to cheer you up, no?
Hera: *lets out a constrained sigh and looks away from Dionysus*
Dionysus: *nods* Thought so. *bows down to her and leaves, closing the chamber doors behind him, while Hera watches him do so.*

In the plain of Nysa
Livio the double fang - a seer
Like Nicolas he had lost his parents when an army invaded and destroyed his hometown while he himself had been captured.
While his brother has become a hierei at the sanctuary of Nysa, Livio has been bestowed the occupation of a mantis (Seer/Prophet) and accompanies armies into war to support them with divinations.
His job as a mantis is however merely a facade and more often than not the cult uses him as an assassin. His brother suspects that he is not just a simple mantis but does not know the full extent of what the cult uses his brother for.
Unaware of the fact that his brother’s new temple servant Eriks is actually one of their cult’s gods.
Similar to Milly, he occasionally drops by Wolfwood’s sanctuary to visit his brother and help him with temple maintenance.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~*~
In the plain of Nysa - Synopsis:
Loosely based on the myth of Hades and Persephone.
Vash, the god of peace and twin brother of Nai, the god of war, has been sheltered for millenia within the safe havens of Mount Olympus. Or rather has been held captive by his brother for millenia.
That is until the goddess of the hunt Meryl and a satyr named Roberto help the deity to escape from Olympus into the human realm. There Vash is forced to hide in a small temple from his brother where he meets the priest Nicholas D. Wolfwood and slowly falls in love with him while also finding a sense of his own independence.

[Awww! They're having fun! Wait-... Never mind. Not anymore. I can never resist putting these tiny beans in Situations™️, can I?]
The pleasant singing of birds and beams of sun peeking through the leaves surrounded the small riding party. Eurylochus led everyone down the path with Ctimene close behind. Polites was close behind, turning back to Odysseus—who brought up the rear—now and then to ask a question. They all chatted leisurely, talking about the birds they heard or making up riddles to tell their parents. Along the way, the group came across a spring. They stopped to let the horses rest and drink. They tied the horses to nearby trees and played a few rounds of tag. Their laughter carried through the forest as they played, chasing each other back and forth. After a while, one of them noticed the sun nearly touched the peaks of the mountains. They all untied and mounted their horses to continue down the trail. The forest was much darker now. This time, Odysseus led the group. His horse had behaved well so far, and he was proud of his ability to control it. He figured those stable workers were too cautious. Clearly, the mare was excellent to ride. In an instant, a dark shape darted across the path before Odysseus. The horse whinnied and bucked. Odysseus tried to calm the horse, but it shook its head and pounded its hooves. “Woah! Easy!” he said, but the horse didn’t listen. It continued to buck its head and whinny. “Everything okay up there?” Polites called from behind. “I’ve got it,” Odysseus insisted as he tugged on the reins.
Another shape ran between the bushes, and the horse reared up with a loud cry. Odysseus shouted in surprise as he nearly slid from his saddle. When the horse landed on its feet again, it took off down the path. It raced through the forest as the shouts of alarm from Odysseus’s friends and sister got softer and softer. Odysseus desperately tried stopping the horse, pulling hard on the reins, but the horse shook its head to release the pressure and continued to bolt. Odysseus had no choice but to hold on.

So... this was buzzing around my head and I finally have a drawn version of Crowley that I love. So I'm sharing with you lovely people. I need to work on the light and shade a little more I think...
Premise:
Poseidon takes an interest in yet another mortal but is shocked when said mortal shows no interest in him! Well, it doesn't matter, he always gets what he wants anyway. His old Celestial lover, Aphrodite gets jealous of the new object of his lust. So in true Aphrodite style she curses his lust interest out of spite. However this mortal has been worshipping an another Goddess in his caring of the land and the wildlife around his gardens. He has spent years giving offerings to a little shrine. So this Goddess interferes, but Antheia isn't as powerful and can only do so much, halting the full curse but leaving the redhead partially transformed.
The poor cursed mortal is driven out of town because of his looks. Because different, must be dangerous. Years go by and a bad harvest is followed by another and another and the council needs someone to blame.
The monster in the mountains must be the cause: not their poor management of the irrigation system or resources and outrageous corruption. So a hapless hero is enlisted to smite the beast.
Neither beast nor hero were prepared for what happened.
((This isn't written, isn't close to being written and sadly is unlikely to be written any time soon! 😕))

When you returned, you filled Athena in, per her insistence.  You didn’t tell her everything, saving some just for yourself.  She was very encouraging, saying that this seemed a wise match.  You had tentatively thought so as well but hearing it confirmed by the goddess of wisdom helped to seal matters in your mind.  The only thing stopping you was that you still didn’t know him very well, he was very guarded, though you knew enough to know he was more open with you than anyone.  And that made you feel really good.  Funny how you were the goddess of feelings (more or less), yet this guarded man who didn’t let anyone in made you feel better than all those who constantly tried.  The irony was not lost.  It was funny to you how you had thought he was a recluse who was not worth anyone's time, whenever you thought about him which wasn't much, until you met him just once.  However, was this a good idea?  Rushing into a marriage with someone who you hardly knew, even if he seemed like the best option?  Was another god you knew better a good idea? You were running out of time.
“The truth is, you don’t have much time to decide.  Hera likes the idea and would bless this marriage.  I am unsure if she would bless anyone else for you.  And though her marriage isn’t something to aspire to, her blessing is still very much needed.”  Athena had told you, after you confessed your doubts.
“I understand that, but is he too good to be true?”
“Everyone is on their best behavior in the beginning to be sure, but you know the other gods and they are not options.”
“But what if he turns out to be the worst of them all?”  You were starting to panic.
“It is true you do not know him well, but what does your heart say?  You of all of us would know best if love can be found from the both of you.”  You were silent for a moment, unsure what the truth was.  You thought you knew the answer but were scared in case you were wrong.  The last thing you wanted was to be trapped and even if he was a wonderful choice, you were still being forced regardless.
“Listen to me, my friend.”  She started again.  “You can talk to him and make it clear what you expect once you are married.  If not love, something where you do not hate each other. Find an agreement you can both live with so being together is not a nightmare.  I don’t want to see you wither away like Hera.”  She gave you a sad smile, and hugged you then left.  You had a lot to think about.

A few weeks had passed and you realized that no matter what, this was going to happen.  So you needed to talk to Hephaestus and make sure you were on the same page like Athena had suggested.  He had agreed to meet at his forgery once again, not liking to leave and though you felt at a disadvantage you knew the location wouldn’t matter; the conversation was going to be difficult regardless.
“Hello Hephaestus”  You started, a little awkwardly.  He had brought you to another balcony overlooking yet another lovely piece of land that stretched for miles.  You mused to yourself how lovely it would be to spend many days out here.
“What can I do for you?”  Not one to beat around the bush, not that you had expected it of him.
“Honestly, it is a little awkward, but I think we need to talk about this forced marriage.”  His expression darkened just a bit, or maybe you imagined it.
“What about it?”  He asked, in a deeper, not as friendly tone.
“I guess I wanted to make sure that this is what you want, and if it is, what our expectations of it are.”
“Expectations?”
“Yes.”
“Such as?”  He lifted an eyebrow.  His was an intense gaze, and the only one you ever felt the need to shy away from.  Any other god you could flirt your way around it, but not him.  You couldn’t be fake with him, even if you tried. And you didn’t want to
“I am not naive to think that though we are… getting along right now, that we still don’t know each other very well.  And I don’t want to wake up one day knowing that not only do me and my husband not get along, but that we could hate each other.”  Again no expression.  What you would give to know his mind.
“Like my mother.”  Interesting that this was the first time you had heard him refer to Hera as mother.
“Yes.”  You hated to admit it, but you feared turning into her one day.  Locked away, barely surviving, hated by her husband, respected by none.  The thought alone made you shudder.
“What is it that you want of me?”
“I want…that is I-”  You didn’t know what to say.
“Do you want a companion?  A friend?”  He took a step closer.
“Well yes, but-”  Another step.
“You want someone who you can get along with and live amicably with?”  Another step.  He was so close you could reach up and kiss him if you wanted.  The thought shocked you.  Where had that thought come from?  And why was it the only one in your mind?
“Or do you want passion, love, fire?”  His eyes bore into your own.  You would be lying if you said you didn’t like the intensity.
“I am the goddess of love, of course I want that.”  You whispered.
“And you are worried you won’t find that…with me?”  You couldn’t read his emotions but thought that maybe there was some sadness in his eyes.
“I’m scared, Hephaestus.”  He nodded, smiling sadly, and began to back away.  The moment you couldn’t feel his heat you reached for and grabbed both his arms to which he instantly tensed up.  But you noticed he didn’t back away.  “I am scared that I won’t yes, but having met you, I am scared that I might actually get all that I want.”  He slowly brought his arms to wrap around yours.  “I am scared that you are too good to be true and once this.. Connection, this spark dies down, we will be left with nothing.  So my hope is that at the very least we can live together amicably, as you say.  That I won’t hate my very existence knowing that you grow tired of me.  That I am not at all what you want.  That you will resent me for forcing you into this marriage.”  You hadn’t admitted half of this to yourself and yet it was all the truth.  He had a way of making you be honest with yourself, a good trait since love can blind.
“This is what bothers you?”  He searches for more but does not find it.
“Yes.”  You barely whisper.
“Then let me tell you my fear.”  No sound could be heard, you held your breath knowing that whatever he was about to say would change everything.
“I fear that you are going into this blindly.  That you see an option that is the best of the worst, and will quickly change your mind and feelings.  That you will see me for what I am.”  It had hurt you to know he thought you so trivial but you knew that it was also in your nature; you were emotional and emotions change and are fleeting.
“I know that I am trivial,  but I have changed a lot.  I cannot promise I won’t become more sound, that is who I am; I am Emotion.  But I can tell you that love will not change.  Will I get upset, go crazy?  Most definitely.  But love..that does not change.”  You knew whether you loved him or not, but knew it was not the time to say yes or no to it.   “And I do see you for who you are.”  You could tell he wanted to pull away, so you moved closer, so that the rest of your bodies were practically touching.
“I see a man who has so much more to offer than others see.  More than he himself sees.  A man who would help out a complete stranger and have next to no expectations of her.  Someone who is always doing things for others and thinks he deserves nothing in return.  I see a man with so much to offer but is so humble.  I see a man that I could easily love.”  His coal eyes had a flicker of fire and you thought it was the most beautiful thing.
“Is that truly what you see?”  He asked in such a vulnerable way, your heart ached.
“I see so much more.”  Your hand reached to cup his face.  He visibly relaxed, closing his eyes for a moment.
“Then I think your fears are unfounded.”  You smiled.
“I think yours are too.”
