Imagine watching your children’s future slip away before your eyes, while their present is caught between death and injury. 💔

In a world full of painful stories, our story in Gaza is one that bleeds and cannot be ignored. I had previously started sharing our pain and hopes through my Tumblr account, where I found in you a support that eased the harshness of the days. But now, that account has been closed for reasons I cannot understand, deepening my sense of isolation in this dark world. 😞

I am Ahmed, an ordinary man whose responsibilities have become heavier than any human heart can bear. A father of five young children who look to me every day with eyes filled with fear and hope, and a husband to a woman who has proven to be a source of patience and strength in every moment. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

This war has destroyed everything. We lost our home, our dreams, and even the simplest rights to live in peace. I once dreamed of seeing my children grow up in a safe environment, but that dream shatters day by day. 💔

The war no longer affects just our present. Our memories have been erased, every beautiful moment destroyed, and our past scattered among the ruins of homes and shattered recollections. 😢 Our present is drowning in blood and destruction, a never-ending war that follows us every second and in every place. And the future? It’s unknown, terrifying, and we have no idea what it holds for us. 😔

Every day we live here is a battle for survival. We face terror, hunger, and fear of a future we cannot predict. We hoped to find refuge, a place where we could feel safe, but even that has become unattainable. 🏚️

I have returned now with a new account and a new plea to everyone reading my words. Back with a post for chapter 2 in Roth’s Ransom.

This chapter flashes back to a year earlier when Lara was first reading about the St. Petersburg Pearl, a priceless pearl necklace said to have been worn by Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna and given to her by the mystic Grigori Rasputin as a last gift before his assassination in 1916. And not even 3 months later would Tsar Nicholas II and his family be executed by the Bolsheviks.

But then she catches word of her stepmother Ana not wanting Roth to take her on another adventure out of fear she’ll join her father in death. But what Lara is currently going through a year later in the captivity of Boran “Boris Gladov” Gladovich is much worse than death…

Roth meanwhile reunites with Reyes and the gang to tell the unfortunate truth about his debt to the Liberty City Bratva and prepares to depart to present-day Azerbaijan, said to be the hiding place of the necklace after one of the last Tsarist generals fled from Moscow with it to participate in the Bolshevik take-over of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Chapter 2 of Roth’s Ransom contains continued non con including touching (fondling+groping), humilation, and implied rape as well as mentioned major character and historical character deaths.

For all her dissaproval of 'The Man' writing the importance of cruelty into 'The Story', the Lady (and btw you too Ashley 😁) took some serious notes from his textbook. I mean, I really feel for Prakhuta here: all that pain, all that suffering, all that enduring, all for nothing..? He's truly one of your most tragic characters. Born into an abused, enslaved people. Tortured by Delicieu for years, abandoned by his only friend, maimed and banished by his own kin, haunted by the pure pain and horrorside of the Khert, and now failing in the one task that could've made all that suffering atleast have a purpose. A good cause. A true ending. I know he's also a homicidal maniac, but his journey mirrors that of Duane's in so many ways that it is extra sad to me that there seems to be no sympathy or understanding for him in your readership. I mean, with the way Delicieu 'bound' a human soul unto him, can Prakhuta even make or recall happy memories? Is cackling in the proximity of promised relief and being privey to some of the Lady's plans, the only respite he gets/deserves?

Oh, there are readers who have sympathy for Prakhuta. They've been in my inbox all day! :)

I don't think anything redeems suffering and I don't think anyone fundamentally deserves anything. In the words of Ssael, good men keep no accounts. It's better to live day by day, for the sake of others, and not obsess over all the wrongs done to you and by you. Because nothing can undo them. They and everything else remain suspended forever in time. The only way is forward, and we are all going to the same place.

It's not all that different in Kasslyne. There is no redemption. There is only Today and, if you're very lucky, Tomorrow.

Prakhuta lived a life full of suffering and torment, and there is nothing that can undo that fact. Yerta could appear and open her motherly arms and embrace him and he still would have lived a life full of suffering and torment. If Knock had not been there for Ana in the end, what would have changed? Nothing, really, except the reader would have missed out on that brief burst of catharsis as our pattern-seeking brains recognised the bookend of a narrative arc. But Ana still suffered horribly, and she still was dead, and not one jot of that was undone by a hug from Knock.

Anyway, I know I probably sound very grim, but I do like to keep it real. If you see a Prakhuta or an Ana, and you feel you can do something for them, do it. Redemption's for stories, and sometimes not even then~

Hi for a writer new to writing 911 fics what are some key character points that you think are really important for capturing the vibes of Buck and Eddie?

omg HIII 🫶🏻🫶🏻

so first off i also consider myself New to writing 911 fics fmvjdjc but i assume since ur asking Me of all people you like one/some of my fics enough to think i am an authority which rules. thank u that's so sweet. ANYWAY on to my actual advice.

buck: you know that john mulaney bit where he's saying he's a terrible driver and he's like "i hear you honking and i also don't want me to be doing what i'm doing. i don't like that i'm in that lane either. and i sure would like to get out of it." that is buck in basically every aspect of his life besides being a firefighter. his problem is that he won't pull over long enough to figure out what the hell he's doing. buck acts before he thinks and only Later does he even consider like hey Why did i do that. What was i feeling. What was i trying to accomplish. which often results in him behaving selfishly and hurting others (see: lawsuit, Entire Relationship With Taylor Kelly, maiming eddie during a basketball game, coming to the erroneous conclusion that he was jealous over tommy rather than eddie) as well as behaving recklessly and risking his own life under the cover of heroism and necessity.

as far as more like. basic character things go. buck can be kinda dumb And smart at the same time. people often swing really hard in one direction or the other and i think it does buck a disservice. like, yeah, he loves his fun facts and research spirals and books, he clearly has a love for learning, but he's also not the Best at critical analysis of his sources and maybe has a tendency to take things at face value. like i do fear that buck could be persuaded to join an essential oils mlm.

ALSO buck is a weirdo like yes he Can be charming but he also has chronic foot-in-mouth disease and says shit like "oh we didn't kill him we just WANTED to!" TO THE COPS. WHEN BEING QUESTIONED ABOUT A MURDER. i think buck is just constantly rolling either nat ones or nat twentys when it comes to charisma.

i also think it's important to keep in mind that while buck can be deeply insecure, that insecurity doesn't Usually manifest in him like. noticeably withdrawing into himself or trudging sadly around like a kicked puppy. his response to that insecurity is most often to be loud, to lash out, or to overcompensate (see: his entire personality in s1, eddie's introduction, befriending red and taking on his end of life care, swearing to abby that he'll rescue her fiancé and risking his own life to do it, etc).

ok i think i've yapped enough ab buck SO!

eddie: i actually feel like way less confident prescribing advice for writing eddie fmvkdjc so this'll probably be shorter than the buck section. as far as the Basics go i think people can often characterize eddie as very like serious and grim but he rly is not! he's a very silly guy! mostly with chris and buck, but also a bit with carla and linda and the rest of the 118. i think eddie is a guy who can behave very differently depending on how comfortable he is around somebody, and there are many parts of himself that he keeps locked down around others.

eddie thinks about his feelings and motivations before acting in a way that buck typically doesn't, but that doesn't mean he's correctly assessing those feelings and motivations. eddie is an incredibly unreliable narrator when it comes to his own life! he'll feel the desire to do something (for example, dating ana or going from active firefighting to a desk job) and Then construct his conscious reasoning for it (i'm ready to move on from shannon and i like her, chris will feel better and it's better for him if i have a safe job) while avoiding his Deeper feelings and motivations (the compulsion to give chris A Mother so that he feels like less of a failure as a father, his own ptsd and other mental health struggles in the wake of the shooting).

this doesn't mean that eddie is entirely emotionally unintelligent! he just kinda hates himself and he's deeply repressed and he often feels that he can't do things For Him, they all have to be For Chris.

ok that's like most of what i've got for now i'm rly not an authority on eddie but i tried my best 😭

as a duo: i think the #1 thing to remember when writing buck and eddie is that they're best friends and they understand each other better than anybody else in their lives. like that doesn't mean that they're always on the same page but they Do canonically recognize each other's feelings and motivations most of the time and after the lawsuit/street fighting era, they always respond to each other with patience and care when one of them is having a rough time.

like i think you actually have to try Very hard to justify it if you're gonna have buck and eddie miscommunicating and seriously arguing with each other in a fic. i remember when everyone was like omgggg buck is gonna LOSE IT ON EDDIE when he finds out about kim!! and then when buck Did find out about kim he was literally just worried about eddie and talked to him about it and asked the questions that eddie Needed to be asked so that he could work through his feelings and address the situation. buck and eddie just have a knack for knowing what the other person needs, and they're at a point where they will go to each other for help and be openly vulnerable!

and they have fun together! they're silly! see: "locked room mystery" "locked Yard mystery", the whole bachelor party, eddie being like buck Pwease can we look for the treasure together 🥺, etc etc. they just enjoy being together and i think that is so crucial to writing them.

final thoughts: in general my #1 piece of advice for writing fic is to rewatch the show/clips from the show when you're trying to capture a character's voice. i do not do this nearly as often as i should bc i am lazy but it rly is deeply helpful for making sure that they sound like themselves!

i would also advise that even if your fic is buddie-centric, it helps to include the other characters in even small ways. our relationships with others are central to who we are! references to other characters like chris, maddie, chim, etc. can go a long way toward making buck and eddie feel like themselves.

I couldn't get it of my mind. From the moment those words came out of her mouth. Goodnight schatz. Even if she only let it out while slightly drunk. And at the end of the day, it's always the same question. What we say while drunk, should count as nothing or should it count double?

In anyway it felt so sweet hearing that once again. And in the morning while catching the plane, it was everything we had shared that lulled me into sleep.

Summer break had finally came. And I started the process of moving to Munich. I would stay at Lea's while I went apartment hunting.

Tonight we were going clubbing. The girls had organized everything, apparently my job was to just show up at Klara's for a pre game.

When Lea and I went into the apartment, there was a big welcome home sign.

"This is so cheesy. But thank you guys."

As I hugged everyone, couldn't help but notice Y/N wasn't there. And Syd had noticed.

"She'll meet us at the club with the others. Now how about we do a round of shots to get the party started?"

Arriving at our booth at the club, I had instantly let my smile grow at the sight of her.

"Hey, welcome! Sorry I couldn't be at Klara's, I had to pick Ana up." - She gave me a awkward hug, just like the last time we'd seen each other.

Funny enough, I hadn't noticed the girl next to her, until she brought up her name.

"Good to see you." - I tried to say it in the most friendly way I could manage, while greeting Ana.

"You too." - She said with a tight lip smile.

Despite being seated next to her most of the night we had barely talked. And then she had decided to go to the dance floor.

Which is where we stood now.

Me sitting down, drinking up, while she was up on the dance floor, dancing against someone else.

The sight of her dancing with anyone was enough to make me red. But the fact she was once again with Ana made me boil.

"Hey don't look so grim, this whole thing is for you!

I know the reason behind that face, and all I can say is go for it. But without causing a mess, please." - Said the older woman.

But once again I only followed half of the advice.

Getting to her through the small crowd was the hard part.

At least it's what it felt like after a couple drinks. She had her back turned, so as I came close I put a hand on her hip.

"Hey, it's just me." - I said into her ear as I noticed I made her jump. But she only gave my hand a squeeze not even turning.

reader's pov

I was just fixed on enjoying myself, until I noticed Ana had stopped dancing.

"I'm going to rest a little." She said as she left for the booth.

Finally turning to face Lena. Her checks were already tinted from the heat and the drinks.

"I don't like the way she thinks you belong to her." She said into my ears.

"No need to be jealous." to say I was a little devilish when drunk, was a fair statement. "I can be friends with everyone."

"Friends huh?"

"Can we do a chugging contest like we always used to?"

"Only if you're ready to lose."

"You wish, let's go."

I pulled her through the crowd, straight pass the booth and into the bar area.

"Ready?" she asked and I only nodded. "Go."

"How does it feel to be proved wrong?" I asked as I finished my beer.

"Quite nice actually." by now she had a stupid smile on her face. "I'm ordering something else. Want anything?"

"I'll share with you." I said without even asking her if she was okay with that. It was just automatic, like the feelings the two of you shared. It was automatic, every time you were around each other they would just resurface.

You guys finished the liquid before heading back to dance some more. But this time Lena had all your attention to herself. And it was good while it lasted.

"Ouch my feet hurt."

"That's why I never wear heels."

You were already pouting at her.

"Fine, let's get you home."

You stopped by the table to say your goodbyes, and let everyone know you were leaving.

"I'm taking this one home." At this point yes you were both drunk, but it was easy to tell you were a little more intoxicated than her.

"You can't drive!"

"'m not planning on it. We're ubering. Just want to make sure she gets home safely."

"Here's my car keys. Please don't crash it! Ana are you getting a ride with the girls?" You spat everything out without even taking a pause.

Lena was desperately looking at the girls so one of them would take charge. She deserved this win, and they all knew it. You would never leave Ana if it meant she would have to go home alone.

"I'll take her home. I've barely had anything to drink." One of them said grabbing your keys, much to Lena's relief.

who are the harpers?

My name is Ana and I am the Harpers’ Watcher. The Live for Something Legacy Challenge by @aliennooboo really turned my Sims experience upside down and allowed me to create a long-lasting attachment with my Harpers. Seriously, I can’t let them go - and I mean this literally. My Harpers are the Pixels that live forever!

My gameplay style is quite light, family-friendly, maxis match and most of the times, trying to be comical and goofy. However, there’s one key rule: no elderly demise deaths and if some pixel dies, we shall go to the hell and back to bring them back.

The idea is to have all Harpers’ generations walking around even if not being actively played. This means my gameplay defaults include having aging off, neighbourhood stories off and very rare sights of the Grim Reaper!
