i started this on twitter but this needs more words for the full brain rot.

volleyball setters and baseball catchers are both extremely important while often being overlooked by casual spectators cause they aren't very flashy

setting in volleyball is extremely important to the offense. they have to be aware of not only where their hitters are, but also where the other team's players are on their court AND figure out how to best score a point. throw in the strict amount of rules they have and you get extremely disciplined players who are also super perceptive.

catchers, on the other hand, literally hold the defense together for the whole game. they are part of every single play, are very base-conscious, and never get a break so they have insane amounts of stamina. if you ever watch a baseball or softball game, pls pay attention to how much the catcher is doing on every single play, you'll be baffled by how much they do.

that being said i know exactly how every setter would catch

kageyama is the definition of a terrifying catcher. he calls all of the pitches himself and he is an asshole about it. he gets a lot of praise for his framing skills that trick even the best umpires into calling strikes. he is acutely aware of each of his teammate's strengths and will adjust them on the field mid-batter to guarantee an out. his fatal flaw is that he got ejected once for arguing with the umps over a check swing (he was right the umps were just bad that day)

suga, on the other hand, is deceptively laid back for a catcher. he has multiple unique call signs that are for the whole team, and often make it harder for coaches to steal their signs. where kageyama almost expects the other team to steal the signs and not pay attention to the defense's movement, suga gets them to move so obviously that they would never be able to guess what pitch is being thrown. like he has noya (ss) move in on the fourth batter, who in their right mind would then call a meatball down the middle?? suga would and it's fuckng insane

noya is a relief catcher. thats it

OIKAWA MY KING he is the perfect catcher. he knows his players perfectly, reads the other teams like open books, is very vocal in each play, is super athletic, looks hot in uniform he's perfect. he's so cocky about his throwing skills that he does run-downs with the ball still in his glove. it's terrifying and monstrous.

yahaba is the relief catcher. he only really gets put in when kyotani is pitching. i can't think of a reason right now but yeah. if he's not catching, he's in the outfield.

kenma is so fucking calm as a catcher. he's very smart and perceptive, but so is the rest of the team so he doesn't have to be as vocal as other catchers. most of the team knows what the play is by how he sets up in the box, and he's. very quick to adapt to strange pitches or hits. he is also not above calling change-ups over and over again on the same batter if it works. he has made many enemies this way I love him

i'm gonna make a dedicated post for semi and shirabu because their catching styles revolve heavily around ushijima, but the gist of it is that semi refuses to call a curveball for ushi so he gets benched for going against the coach's calls, and shirabu is more than happy to only call curveballs.

akaashi. the prettiest boy yes i love him. he is the most stressed catcher in history. he's very good at reading the field, and he is usually the one to call for a conference, not the coach. sometimes he gets too far into his head and makes some wrong calls, but it's nothing a good scream won't fix. his talent shines when he picks off a runner with a pass-ball. and bokuto throws an unfortunate amount of pass-balls.

atsumu is a fucking asshole behind the plate. he is talkative, loud, unfiltered. it is a miracle he has not been thrown out of a game. he will very often steal plays from the other teams. like every game. there is no escape from him. he shines mostly in his framing skills, but don't let that fool you. he will chase down a runner on the third baseline with no hesitation at full speed. he is a terrifying menace and is only made worse when his brother is pitching. both of them find joy in forcing a batter into striking themselves out. they are my nightmare combo.

there are so many teams i cant think of anything else right now.

HiJack, or ROTBTD: it all started when i watched Hot To Train Your Dragon and Rise of the Guardians during the same summer. i somehow ended up googling the two together, and boom, i discovered HiJack (Hiccup/Jack Frost). Hi, does the "hijacked" in my url make sense now? anyways i started writing for them and, by extension, the Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons fandom for a while. had a couple HP AUs for them as well, so thats why that series is dinged in my ao3 history as well lol theres some fics for them that didnt come with me from my travels from fanfic.net to ao3, so theres more out there LOL! (38 fics on ff.net, some crossposted to ao3. so its safe to assume ive written close to 100 fics. OOF)

AbeMiha, Big Windup: this was before i had tumblr. one of my favorite artists for HiJack, someone ive long since lost track of, posted their fanart on tumblr, and i noticed while diving through their art tag this show called "Oofuri" or, Big Windup. turns out, it was a baseball anime, and was the first anime i ever seriously watched! AbeMiha was my main there, and i wrote a few things for them too!

KageHina and KyouHaba, Haikyuu: one sports anime led to another. theyre like crack, okay? anyways of course i shipped kagehina, wrote a couple things there, but really tripped and fell for kyouhaba, a semi-rarepair who really took off. i stayed there for a bit! had a lot of fun!

Klance, Voltron: i ran into the loving arms of this one too. forced my little brothers to watch the show as well. it was a great time. i think i also submitted some fanfics to a short story class i was in at the time? it was wild

BakuDeku, BNHA: how could i not have started with this one? theyre amazing and perfect to me.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Currently it's only F1, but I've written for a bunch of anime fandoms like Haikyuu! and Daiya no Ace (even in anime I can't escape sports) and Naruto of course. And some movie ones like Tenet. And some random others. Like the Epic 7 and Fire Emblem game.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

The Cloud That Settles (sewis), then If You Don't Play, You'll Never Win (lestappen), then Treading Softly in My Head (martian), then All the Miles We Have to Shed (martian), then Shutter Speed (martian). Special mention to the sixth in line But I Exist to Serve the Master, which I think was the first fic up on ao3 for The Gentlemen (2019) fandom kekekeke.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes, absolutely. I have a backlog at the moment which I feel a little guilty about because I want anyone who's commented to know their words and thoughts are so beloved to me, and sometimes when someone leaves a wonderfully thoughtful comment it takes me ages to respond because I want to respond in kind.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Spring Cleaning (maxiel) or this prosenna tumblr ficlet

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Hmm. Looking through my fics I realize they often end on a very happy, resolved, or hopeful note. It'd be tough for me to choose the happiest. Maybe Down in the Depths We Make Our Home (sebchal pacific rim au), just for how complete it felt at the end.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not in the traditional sense, like I hate your writing! kind of thing. I've had some odd comments that I genuinely think weren't meant to be mean but have made me question some aspects of my writing, and I've learned to take those in stride. I'm also very very lucky to be surrounded by beloved people who have everlasting patience for my huehuehues.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Kekekeke. Y E S. I love doing so. I'm not sure I can describe what kind, I'm into so many flavours. The really, really horny kind? *me scrolling through my ao3* Oh wow yes the really, really, really horny kind.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I have not! Only AUs at the moment. The craziest AU I've ever thought of was probably an F1 Chainsaw Man AU.

I don't believe so!

Yes! I've had If You Don't Play, You'll Never Win and Melt Your Aches and Call This Home (a baseball anime fic) translated into Chinese. Reading them has been a delight and a lesson all in one!

No, but I am in talks with... some beloved people...

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

All time! Hmm. Hmm! Naruto/Sasuke my og pairing probably. But Martian and Sebmick are right up there too.

Huehuehue. I have a bunch languishing in my drafts at the moment. Rosquez, seb4seb, sebastidan wips are most in danger because my interest in them crests super hard one day and wanes the next. *sees a gif* *is inspired* *sees a gif of something else* *forgets*

16. What are your writing strengths?

Narrative voicing I think? A very clear, defining character arc. I've been told the porn's pretty good too, while being very emotional.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Long fic. Ah, geez. There are so many stories in my head that could only be done justice if I had the patience to take my time with it, put in the hours, put in the words, put in the work. But I'm very easily distracted by shiny things unfortunately. I also worry I write the characters the same across fics. Like my Sebs, I worry that he's getting a little too consistent and predictable even in vastly different works.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I probably wouldn't, I would worry too much about whether I got the nuances and grammar and structure and voicing right.

This changes depends on the day you ask. At the moment it's actually my prosenna tumblr fics, which upon every reread I find myself liking more. (The real fave fave fic is something I chatficced with @rosyjuly that I hope will one day see the light of day)

i really have to dig in the archives for this one! i'm very sad because i have forgotten to bookmark lots of fics that I think about all the time. i've done my best to dredge up the ones I wanted. mostly these are in no particular order. title/link first, then description.

Three-year-old Atsumu and Osamu accidentally travel into the future. Twenty-three-year-old Atsumu has no choice but to look after them.

Cue family shenanigans, team bonding, and playing house with Sakusa Kiyoomi. Atsumu can't believe this is his life.

Neither Kiyoomi nor Atsumu are strangers to casual sex. The reason for that is “a lack of emotional capacity,” as Kiyoomi would say, and Atsumu is “just really horny”. They sometimes meet in the hallways when they pull their victims behind them, heated gazes clashing in the space between them.

That they end up sleeping with each other at some point is an inevitability, and so is the rest. They just take a while to realize it.

Featuring the complications of room assignments, unintentional domesticity and a lot of mutual dumbassery. Also, the bone-deep exasperation of an entire volleyball team.

“Omi, was it?” And there’s the voice that Sakusa so desperately wishes he could ignore. He turns to meet the catcher’s gaze anyway.

“Kiyoomi. I prefer Sakusa.”

“Right, Omi. Ya pitch?”

“According to my contract.”

“Listen,” Atsumu adjusts himself once more so he’s relaxed along the chair rather than sitting on the cushion properly—legs again propped onto the armrest, “I’m gonna be yer catcher nine times outta ten and I love this game. We can both at least agree that a workin’ relationship would be beneficial for the both of us.”

The mirror loved Daichi, his tameable, thick hair, powerful biceps, sharp jawline already filling in with a hint of five o’clock shadow, despite such youth.

God, Daichi needed to shave. What must that be like? And here was Suga, a fuzzy-haired and petite toddler with the muscular density of a pipe cleaner and ill-fitting shorts held up by a fraying drawstring. How are we possibly the same age?

“How’s it going?” Daichi offered, the first time their eyes met.

“Uh,” Suga replied, eloquently.

In which a lovestruck Suga haphazardly stumbles through the locker room and into the top of the ninth inning with the game (and his remaining high school career with Daichi) on the line
