songs:

seven by Taylor Swift - it's my favourite song of hers. I love everything about it, the cozy production, the nostalgic feel of it, how warm her voice sounds, the second verse.

Mama's Gun by Glass Animals - why is a song about murder my comfort song? I wish I knew. All I know is that one time I fell asleep with headphones in and woke up to this song and it was the warmest I've ever felt. Something about a woman being so terrified of herself just speaks to me.

Jealousy Jealousy by Olivia Rodrigo - It's such a mood, you know? There aren't enough songs that talk about all the envy and comparison that go on when you're a teen (or, at least, none that I know about. Please recommend me similar songs!). Screaming the lyrics to the bridge is very therapeutic, I recommend.

books:

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater - I love loving books. I love it when I read a book and I am entranced by it. I'm obsessed with every single line in this series, Stiefvater has such a way with words. I'm deeply in love with the characters, a maddening, all-encompassing kind of in love. I've made playlists for this book series, wrote poems about it, cried about it. I will never move on from it. Adam Parrish my beloved <3

Rebecca by Daphne De Maurier - I didn't expect this book to speak to me so much, but I read it and felt like it was written for me and me only. The writing was so beautiful and enchanting.

Winterkeep by Kristin Cashore - this book has 5 POV characters and all of them were genuinely interesting. I never knew I could love and care so much for a fictional, anxious sea monster who collects random things humans lost at sea, or a blue telepathic, clever fox, but I love them very very much. Also, Giddon loml.

Tv Shows:

Bojack Horseman - I started watching it because of a post that said the show handled depression so well... I did not expect this. There's nothing like a talking horse to make you realize you're fundamentallly unloved and no matter how much you love someone it will never be enough because you're a piece of shit.

Locke & Key - this is a really good fantasy show, with a very well-executed concept and well-written, complex characters. Dodge/Gabe is hot and what could be better than a sexy villian? Bode's the only smart character in the show and he's an absolute icon.

Haikyuu - it's just so cute. I don't know how a show that's solely about volleyball could be so intereting, but it is. And it's adorable. And inspiring. And beautiful. Hinata's optimism should be annoying, but it's endearing and I wish I had his spirits.

Movies:

Bo Burnham: Inside - This movie gave me existential crisis and, tbh, I'm grateful for that <3. I watched it about 5 times and I will watch it more and it doesn't seem like I'm gonna get tired of it. All Eyes On Me is, unfortunately, kind of a mood.

The Lovely Bones - again, I don't know why media pieces about murder comfort me, but this movie was fantastic. Was I terrified throughout the entire movie? Hell yeah, but did I find it incredibly sweet and touching? Also yes. The colour schemes and aesthetic in this movie are very, very beautiful.

Little Women - tbh I thought I'd find this movie boring, but turns out it's very moving and heartening. I can't wait to read the book. "I'm not afraid of storms, for I'm learning how to sail my ship"

HQ Ships I Associate With Taylor Swift Songs

this is entirely self-indulgent but i don’t care. also this will contain manga spoilers, be warned

@rudolphsboyfriend you encouraged me to do this… look at what you have commented into existence /lh

Dorothea and Kagehina: I could write an essay on why this song and this ship work, but I’ll keep it short and maybe make everything else into its own post. I see this song as mainly from Kageyama’s perspective - what really sells it on his POV is “if you ever get tired/of being known for who you know/you know you’ll always know me” is just so reminiscent of how Hinata knows so many people. This song also has the whole “friends to one watching the other from a distance while still being entirely loyal” theme that is just so incredibly Kagehina, as well as the way that the narrator describes their high school experience.

Lover and Bokuaka & Matsuhana: For Bokuaka, I mainly associate this song with them because I want them to be happy SO BADLY. But also I think that “can I go where you go?/will we always be this close” line is very Akaashi, while “swear to be overdramatic and true to my lover” is very Bokuto.

For Matsuhana, the lines that make me think of them are “i’ve loved you three summers now honey,” as they’ve known each other for three years, and “swear to be overdramatic and true to my lover/and you’ll save all your dirtiest jokes for me,” because that’s honestly SUCH a them line. (Can you tell that both of these are my favorite ships)

Enchanted and Bokuaka: The basic premise of “I was enchanted to meet you” could go for every haikyuu ship because all of them are kind of built around how the characters influence each other, but 1) Bokuaka deserves this song, 2) their whole thing is quite literally love at first sight (chapter 331) and 3) the lyrics are very Akaashi. “There I was again tonight, forcing laughter faking smiles/same old tired, lonely place/walls of insincerity/vanished when I saw your face” might just remind me of Bokuaka because I’m a sucker for rich and not very happy about rich culture!Akaashi but I also think that it applies to what we know from canon. “I’ll spend forever wondering if you knew/I was enchanted to meet you.” I think that Akaashi feels anxiety over what he means to Bokuto, and this line is kinda that. The theme of this song being love at first sight as well as wanting this person to really know you fits Bokuaka SO WELL.

Mary’s Song (Oh My My My) and Iwaoi: childhood friends to lovers!!!!! I see this song from Oikawa’s POV, with lyrics like “said you’d beat me up you were bigger than me/you never did” and “I dared you to kiss me and ran when you tried” it’s just very Iwaoi yknow? If you want to add some angst, it’s Oikawa looking back on their relationship as he leaves for Argentina :)

Message In a Bottle and Tsukkiyama: Message in a bottle came out literally today so I haven’t analyzed this as much but. “And I became hypnotized by freckles and bright eyes” is so incredibly Tsukki to Yams. This song’s whole message of feeling separate from your crush but wanting to reach out just feels a lot like them, so I associate it.

Gorgeous and Sakuatsu: This song/ship association is so important to me for no reason at all but I’m going to do it justice. This song is definitely from Sakusa’s POV, from specific lyrics to the way that it’s implied that the person singing is more introverted. To start: “you should take it as a compliment/that I got drunk and made fun of the way you talk” is just. Atsumu accent. Yeah. “You should think about the consequence/of your magnetic field being a little too strong” is most definitely their relationship dynamic from Sakusa’s POV, along with “You’re so cool, it makes me hate you so much.” In general, I like when this ship is portrayed with the “i want to kiss him. ew” type feeling, especially when one of them starts realizing Feelings, so “you're so gorgeous/I can't say anything to your face/'cause look at your face/and I'm so furious/at you for making me feel this way/but, what can I say?/you're gorgeous” really holds up. “Guess I’ll just stumble on home to my cats” I just think that Sakusa is a cat person. This paragraph is getting really fucking long so I’ll be quick: outside of the lyrics, the vibe of this song-music, rhythm, etc just feels very Sakuatsu to me, for some reason.

State of Grace and Kagehina: This is from Kageyama’s POV, I mean, “I never saw you coming/and I’ll never be the same” hello? This is like. The first episode and every single one after that. “You come around and the armor falls” really reminds me of how Hinata was the one who taught Kageyama that it doesn’t all rely on him; Hinata took away that “armor” of superiority. “This is the golden age of something good and right and real” is very much how these two changed the team for the better.

→ Thoughts: Listen, I love AtsuRee as much as the next person, but the one fact that makes me pick Iwa for Ree over Atsumu is that Iwa is definitely way more emotionally mature than Atsumu. I’ve known Ree for long enough to know that that she probably would need someone more on the mature side to fulfill her emotionally, and while I think Atsumu can fill that void to some degree, no one in Haikyuu would be able to do it like Iwaizumi. Iwaizumi is a little grumpy boy, but he’s very observant I imagine he’d be very focused on self improvement in all aspects of his life. That’s just him. He’d make sure Ree’s needs were being met in all departments. He’d take her feelings and wants and dreams very seriously. He’d be patient and understanding, but urge her out of her comfort zone to reach for improvement. If he made a mistake, he’d be the first to apologize (maybe after some grumbling, but he’s very quick to recognize his own faults and not too proud to admit to them), and he’d be incredible understanding of Ree’s perspective during arguments. He has a very strong moral compass, though, and he won’t shy away from calling her out on her mistakes, but I think Ree would appreciate his honesty in that department, especially if he expects that on her end. He has a bit of a temper, but I think he’d actively work on that if Ree brought it up. He’s just very sweet and loyal and committed and I think he’d be perfect for Ree-bee :).

Mo (@smolmo) + Sakusa Kiyoomi

→ Thoughts: Okay, I tried to go out of the box with this, but I just can't think of anyone in Haikyuu that would fit our Mo better than Sakusa. The power dynamics are delicious and they would just play off each other so perfectly. Mo's good at flirting and pressing people's buttons, and I think though Omi might get a little irritated, she does it in a way that would absolutely intrigue him. His just overall demeanor is enough to fluster Mo as well, and that dynamic is just so sexy. I also think that they emote very similarly (it manifests in different ways, but still they think similarly), and I think Omi finding someone that can empathize with his thoughts and feelings in a validating way would cause him to latch onto her. They're so strong and independent/confident that they don't need help from the other, but they're still always each other's backup. Omi knows Mo can handle herself, but if someone crosses her, he isn't hesitating to stand behind her with folded arms and a stone-cold glare. Mo would be the same for him. They're both stubborn but so whipped for the other, and I think they'd be perfect.

Lizzy (@mindfulvenus) + Kuroo Tetsurou

→ Thoughts: I am very aware that Lizzy is in love with Oikawa, and while I completely support the LizzyKawa agenda, with some extra thought, I think she and Kuroo would be so sweet together. In my time talking with Lizzy, I think she's a little more on the reserved side (not shy, just a little quieter), and she's very aware of other's thoughts and feelings. I think Lizzy hesitates a little to come out of her bubble, and while I do think it's an age thing, I think that Kuroo would be good for her because he'd urge her to step out of her comfort zone. Like with Kenma, he does it in a very skillful way that challenges her without overwhelming her so much. They are both very observant individuals and I think they'd be so in tune with each other's feelings. Kuroo would cross the emotional boundaries she's a little bit unsure of with his extroversion and she'd introduce him to sensitivity and gentleness. I just love how they'd contrast each other, and I think with their collective observations, they'd be able to understand and comprehend the other's boundaries. I chose Kuroo over one of the quieter characters because I think Lizzy is drawn to people with more confident energy (i.e: Oikawa), so yeah. I think this would be a cute match.

Howdy Swifties!!!

So I took part in a fest called Haikyuu Taylor Swift Week, the details for which you can find here: https://twitter.com/HQSwiftWeek2020?s=20​ Each day of this week was dedicated to a new album, and while I managed to upload content for days 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6, I missed day 5 and 7 which were Reputation and Folklore respectably.

But along with reuploading all my old content to this channel, I wanted to give myself a chance to fill those last two days even if not as part of the fest originally.

This video was actually meant to be kagehina - shocking right? That it changed so drastically haha. But something about the lyrics one night, before I started proper editing it, SCREAMED oikage to me. Even if not in a shippy sense, it's such a good song for their relationship in general and I had an absolute blast editing it and using a new effect I've been dying to try out.

I’m not too fond of kids and not sure if I ever want some myself, and I hate it when they do nothing but scream for no reason, but I like spending time with my best friend and her baby and I absolutely don’t mind taking care of my little cousins for a while now and then. It’s interesting to see them grow up, and they can be cute too after all..

3. if you could be one fictional character for a day, who would it be and why? Oh my god, that’s such a hard question ashdksglgf.. I think I’d want to be  Yaoyorozu Momo (from BnHA) for a day because her quirk is just hella cool and I wanna make lots of cool things with it and all lol

4. if you could have dinner with any celebrity, alive or dead, who would it be? Oh gosh.. I guess I’d choose Taylor Swift or someone from One Direction lmao. I don’t really care about celebs, so I don’t know stuff about any of them aside from those and they seem to be cool people :D

5. at a glance, who is your most popular artist in your music collection (i.e. whose songs do you have the most of)? I have the most songs in my library from Die Ärzte (a German band), but I doubt they’re the most popular. I also have lots from Eminem, Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, The Wombats, Taylor Swift, One Direction..

6. what would be your last meal? Sushi (spicy tuna, salmon, cooked tuna with mayo) and chocolate (needs to be Kinder chocolate!) I guess... 

7. favourite toy as a kid? Dinosaurs! I had so many! I actually still have them somewhere in the basement I think..

I’m completely against all violent protests, and honestly, setting people’s cars on fire is just super shitty. 10. what fandom discourse makes you angry? EVERYTHING. Well, first of all, all the bullshit that goes down in the Voltron fandom.. I’m staying fucking 10000000km away from these people, it’s horrible. How about you learn to be tolerant towards people who like different things than you.. huh? HUH???!? And the same just goes for all fandoms actually... And of course, the hate some (of my favourite) Haikyuu!! ships are getting is making me super angry too, but I’m pretty used to it by now unfortunately. I just hate most people on the internet... or most people in general... *sighs*

11. what’s your opinion on smut? Nice to read I guess? Depends on what and if it’s well written and all.. but it is a little frustrating that fics with actual plot get less clicks and kudos and comments than a short smut one shot of a popular pairing... :/
