i adore how, in the witcher books themselves, no one ever refers to geralt's hanza as anything but "geralt's hanza," "the witcher's hanza," "your strange company," "our little company," etc.
every mention of their party as an organization has some possessive description of being geralt's, to denote who the company belongs to, which company in particular. and for good reason, no wonder, because the slang term 'hanza' applies to any (marauding or otherwise) group bound by comradery, and the first mention we actually ever get of a 'hanza' is that of stefan skellen's, recruited by dacre silifant - and the second one we ever hear of is nightingale's... that is to say, not geralt's.
but to the fandom, for whom everything (if not stated otherwise) is about geralt, belongs to our witcher - his little group of dandelion, milva, cahir, regis, and angoulême is termed...
THE hanza.
as if there could have ever existed any other in our minds.
