Hey folks, just wanted to say sorry for being a little quiet! Holidays and all, plus RL events - will have to fly across the continent soon for a last minute funeral. May be a little sparing until the new year.
In addition, I will probably be raising the price of the buttons and stickers in my shop next year. Just probably a dollar per, with some shipping cost adjustments.
So much talk on the Internet about the Star Wars Holiday Special and not nearly enough talk about Christmas in the Stars: Star Wars Christmas Album, the absolute banger of a novelty album featuring such classic songs as the one where R2D2 does not know about bells, the one where R2D2 does not know how to sing, and the one where a young Bon Jovi wishes R2D2 a merry Christmas in what is (and this is true) his first appearance on a professionally-produced album.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t also name drop actual Billboard Charts Hit (#69 in 1980… nice) “What Can You Get a Wookie for Christmas (When He Already Owns a Comb)?”
The only human from the Star Wars cast they could snag is Anthony Daniels as C-3PO so he carries most of the vocals, which is a genius choice. Thanks to SFX, they also have R2D2 and Chewbacca and the rest is filled in by droids who are actually composer Maury Yeston, S. Claus portrayed by composer Maury Yeston, and a disembodied chorus that shows up occasionally without explanation. Also, as previously mentioned, Bon Jovi (backed by a chorus of children who flippin love R2-D2)
Anyway listen to this thing and remember not to think about anything too hard (especially statistics and DEFINITELY not the whole “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away” thing). Enjoy!
Get Ready For Christmas When You Are NOT In The Mood, ft. 2022:
my mom: non-planned baking a shit ton of candy, huffing and puffing how she hates that, while listening to Abba and Depeche Mode on full volume
my sister: cleaning the house like crazy, no music, just True Crime podcast and hundreds of episodes of F.R.I.E.N.D.S., lighting up a ginger spice-scented candle with a 'BURN IN HELL' inscription
me: packing gifts in goofy dinosaur paper and baking cookies for the whole family, decorating the batch of gingerbread (so we have a Stripper, a Borat and two Mortally injured gingerbreads because no one was watching me) while listening to old-school power metal band Axxis and my ultimate Christmas song 'All I Want For Christmas Is Beautiful People’, mentally preparing myself for another chapter of cats vs. Christmas tree 2022 edition
Sometimes I feel a little sad at Christmas because I never really get any Christmas cards from my friends. I always make the effort to get them all a card with a gift inside and I always think its a very one sided transaction. Its not like I need to receive something of the same value, I'd enjoy just a card on its own, but sometimes it hurts to remember on Christmas you'll always care more about others than they'll care about you
