Meanwhile, in an attempt to change the future, Dylan began calling down all sorts of space junk with a meteor magnet. He also attended a doomsayer's meeting and convinced six sims--including Zoya!--that the sky is falling. I fear we're heading for a dystopian future!

After Zoya went back to the present day, Dylan borrowed some clothes from Emit Relevart that would help him blend in better, before going to Legacy Park to learn more about the future.

I just updated my No Rules Legacy master post, and I've been thinking about how Dylan has inherited all the best traits of the heirs who came before him. One of his siblings might have provided us with more drama or hilarity, but no one is better suited for all the tasks of generation 10 than Dylan. He's (mostly) unflappable in the face of everything thrown at him and he gets shit done.

No Rules Legacy - Favorite Pets
There were a lot of pets in my legacy, but these three were my absolute favorites.
Charlie and Henry were strays that showed up on Nara and Jeffery's doorstep in Generation 1. Charlie loved watching TV and both dogs liked howling along whenever Jeffery played the guitar. In their elder years, they terrorized the postal carrier, and they were buried at the state park in Sunset Valley, where the family enjoyed spending time.
Mateo and Marzhan adopted Buran in generation 5 for Alexandra. She wasn't able to ride him until they were both grown, but she learned a lot about caring for a horse. Buran taught her how to love and together they were a championship pair in generation 6.

Dylan went to visit his descendants in the dystopian future, but not only did they live at a new address, but they were different people. Melonie Melville, the woman who reminded him of his mother, was gone. And this new Melville family was not happy with him for ruining Oasis Landing.

While in the future, Dylan did some research into the mysterious door in the wasteland and discovered it was a crashed ship. He scoured the sandy terrain for pieces of the missing key and once they were all assembled, he entered the ship. He found a few interesting items, including a hard copy of the internet, and a video of what was either the last sight before the ship crashed or the end of the world. Either way, Dylan was sufficiently creeped out enough to report his findings to Emit and go back to the present.

The next time Zoya came to visit, Dylan told her he had a surprise for her. In the cab, he tied a bandana around her eyes as a blindfold.
"I don't know how I feel about this kind of surprise, Dylan," she said. "I feel like I'm being kidnapped."
"You know I would never hurt you, right? And this is a really good thing. But if it's really making you uncomfortable, you can take it off."
"No," Zoya said. "I trust you."
The cab stopped and they were met with a soft sea breeze.
"Are we at the ocean?" Zoya asked.
"Not exactly," Dylan said. "But there are beaches nearby and the ocean isn't far away."
He positioned her in front of a bungalow style house with red painted siding, a welcoming porch, and a yard with a few trees. Dylan's heart was thumping as he reached up and untied the blindfold.
"What...?" Zoya's eyes widened. "What is this?"
"I sold the apartment for a lot more than what I paid," Dylan said. "So...I bought this for you. For us. I know you're still working on your degrees and I would never ask you to give that up. It's just...there's no one for me but you, and I want this to be our home."
"Yes."
"Yes?"
She smiled she tiled her face up to his. "Yes."

The following day, Dylan spent hours meditating in the scholar's garden, where he gained the ability to zenport. This doesn't bring him any closer to achieving his goals, but Dylan is a peaceful soul and meditating makes him happy.

Dylan took a trip into the wastelands, tried synthesized cheesesteak (which wasn't quite as good as the real thing, but he wasn't going to say that out loud), and met a future local named Lilah.
"I always thought people from the past were more primitive," she said.
"Well, we don't have hovercars or food synthesizers," Dylan said. "Or dream beds."
"What I meant was I didn't expect you to look like...us. You're pretty cute."
"Thanks, but, um...I have a girlfriend."
"Of course you do," Lilah said with a sigh. "I can't even land a dum-dum from the past."

After Emit stepped back into the light and disappeared, Dylan called for Zoya to come outside. He took her hand and they stepped into the portal...emerging into a whole new world.

The time portal had been in the family keepsake box for generations, so Dylan pulled it out and place it in the side yard. No one in his family had even talked about using it, so he had no idea what to do. Dylan gingerly toed the center of the metallic structure and it burst into light. Shielding his face, he leaned it only to see someone hurtling toward him. He stumbled back as a man came out of the light.
"Hello! I'm Emit Relevart, Keeper of Time, and all around awesome guy," the man said. "I, um...I just added that last part. Is it a bit much? I feel like it might be."
"Hard to say, since I don't know you," Dylan said. "But self-confidence is a good thing."
"Very true." Emit pulled out a device with a whirling white light at the center. "This is the Almanac of Time, which will allow you to travel to all possible futures, good, bad, or otherwise. Just be warned...your actions in the future can have consequence in the past and vice versa. Tread lightly and don't get attached."
"You can trust me," Dylan said.
Emit sighed. "That's what they all say."

Dylan felt a special kinship with Melonie Melville because she reminded him of his own mother, and Zoya loved trying out advanced technology with Drew. All of it--the future, Oasis Landing, discovering family--was overwhelming so they didn't stay long, but promised to return on their next visit to the future.

Dylan encountered his first emergency—a small house fire in his own neighborhood. The homeowners were safe and he put out the fire quickly, but the whole event was much more difficult—and a lot less heroic—than he'd imagined. He went home that night wanting to make sure all the systems at the fire station were always fully maintained.

No Rules Legacy - Favorite Spouses
I've already shared my favorite heirs, so now that the legacy is complete, I'm going to share my favorite spouses. Who was yours?
Noel de la Cruz (Generation 2)
Fun fact: Noel was a random homeless townie that Kana befriended in high school.
2. Jeffery Dean (Generation 1)
3. Ciaran Delaney (Generation 8)
Fun fact: I used Nara's college nemesis, Jacob Salaman, as the base sim for Ciaran.
4. Kekoa Solomon (Generation 6)
Fun fact: I made Kekoa for Daisy, but she had such a wild time in college that he never had a chance.
5. Marzhan Koziyeva (Generation 5)
Fun fact: My daughter made Marzhan back when she was still playing.
6. Zoya Melville (Generation 10)
Fun fact: Zoya was a game-generated roommate when Dylan went to university and I only changed her hair, clothes, and makeup.
7. Alejandro Luna (Generation 4)
Fun fact: Alex was a random explorer in Shang Simla that caught my eye and I grabbed him for Noelle.
8. Mason Shimada (Generation 9)
9. Anna Beck (Generation 10)
Fun fact: Anna was married to Suzuki Hinata in another short-lived save of mine and the two of them shared a single brain cell.
10. And even though he redeemed himself in the end, Ben Trigger (Generation 3)
