I'm just gonna say it- Mike and Will would've been internally going insane if they were in Hawkins to see Steve and Eddie interact.

Both watching what was happening and gaydar going off the charts, but each thinking they had absolutely NO ONE they could talk to about it

ok imagine:

season 5, eddie comes back, but vecna has control of his mind. he’s murdering people now and the whole group finds out about it and has to stop him.

the hawkins gang has to beg and plead with the rest of them to first figure out a way to save him because this is eddie, their friend. “we can’t kill him, please,” they beg.

so they figure out a way to knock him out and tie him up, and el gets into his head. and in his mind scape, she finds him. eddie, curled up in a ball, crying, sobbing, because he’s watching his body carry out these horrendous acts and can do nothing to stop himself. he has no control of his body.

el tells him they’ll save him, then wakes up and tells the group that eddie’s stuck. they figure out a way to save him, and eddie wakes up screaming, crying, flailing about. he looks at his hands to make sure he’s really there.

dustin rushes up to him, the first to hug him. steve stares at him in disbelief then takes a slow step towards him, but robin’s quicker. she embraces eddie, talking a mile a minute about how, “ohmygod! we thought you were dead! we’re so glad you’re alive!” yada yada yada.

she steps away, and steve finally reaches eddie, holding him tightly. eddie wraps his arms around steve, buries his face in his shoulder, and sobs.

he’s finally safe.

the scene w the scooby gang where the girls fall on the boys during the first earthquake is soooo unintentionally funny. they’re doing it to point to st4ncy and say “look! isn’t there t e n s i o n here??” but that painfully forced heterosexuality is juxtaposed by robin & eddie doing the EXACT SAME THING. duffers pleeeaaaaseeee how are you accidentally drawing parallels with a lesbian and a gay man that’s not how this works

hurt comfort, sarcastic steve the babysitter and an even more sarcastic m/c (written in second person), slight frenemies to lovers and love confessions with a hint of drama concerning nancy wheeler.
