Freddino actually looked at Loni waiting for an answer. Say what you want say but he really wanted to know.
I love his face when he realized what’s going on. He was like “Wayment”! And the smirk. That smirk I tell ya! When she nodded, he slightly nodded too and looked at her again. Twice. Maintaining eye contact while laughing/flirting is such a game. The way he kept looking at her OMFGOD.
His self-deprecating jokes were much needed and perfectly timed too. Self-deprecating sense of humor if done correctly is a smart tactic to make the person appear humble, relatable, and sexually attractive at the same time.
I love the mutual light-hearted playfulness and flirtation. Easily my favorite Molina Moment.
Okay but in a human AU, what if the Endless have a similar thing to the royal family’s (supposed) Balmoral test?
Like every significant other gets dragged out to some country estate house and put through the most ridiculous and- frankly- humiliating series of dinners and activities in an attempt to “be sure they’ll manage as part of the family”
Now imagine Hob “I am the most stubborn bastard you’ve ever met in your posh little lives” Gadling taking that shit on
I think I've finally settled on an answer to my long-standing question of "Is it better for Cyrano to simply let Valvert off with a warning at first or to kill him the first chance he gets after the Ballade Duel"? And my answer is "It depends on how good a swordsman Valvert is."
If Valvert actually puts up a good fight against Cyrano, then it makes sense to me that Cyrano isn't going to keep him around long enough to keep being a threat. And in a weird way, it feels more fitting as a conclusion to a fair fight between equals who've both gotten to show the extent of their talents. That's why the 1950 movie's version of the duel is probably my favorite--it feels like Ferrer's Cyrano is actively putting in the effort to keep Cavens' Valvert at a distance. He's not just coasting through the fight, like he would with a less skilled opponent, so the kill at the end feels more earned. But I feel like you don't see that outcome as much in various productions...
If Valvert poses no actual threat to Cyrano, then he's not going to waste his time taking the duel seriously at all. He's purely in it to teach this little pissant a lesson about messing with him, and ultimately Valvert isn't worth the effort of killing. In those cases, it also hits harder when Valvert decides to fight dirty and strike while Cyrano's back is turned--he knows he stands no chance in a fair fight, so he's not going to fight fair. And if Valvert isn't, then neither is Cyrano. I used to think that this staging was mostly to make Cyrano look more sympathetic, but upon reflection I think it shows off his more ruthless side just as well. It not only demonstrates that Cyrano could've easily ended the initial duel almost instantly, but it also shows that he's not afraid of returning the cruelty others show him.
I feel like either way, it still conveys the idea of "Cyrano is not to be fucked with, so watch what you say around him or you're next."
the way I just know musical tumblr and the rest of the internet would be obsessed with Mula sa Buwan (musical retelling of Cyrano de Bergerac set in 1940s WWII Philippines) but it’s locked behind a language barrier
Lavellan post!!!! Aaaa I love her ok. Her name is Mirevas and she really wishes she hadn't agreed to go to the human politics meeting. She's very stubborn and headstrong and will speak her mind. She distrusts humans, but not enough to be actively hostile to every human she sees. She will beat you up if you call her "knife-ear" or if you insult her friends. She's also a lot stronger than she looks, she's fairly small even for an elf.
Pics of her pretty face:
She has complicated feelings about her clan and believes they sent her on the "shit job" (the conclave) to get a break from her. Even though 70% of the perceived beef they have with her is half in her head and half from one or two individual clanmates. They love her and miss her and hope she's okay. And she misses them so bad sometimes it aches. But that's probably just the mark...
The actual 30% conflict she has with her clan mostly has to do with her ideas about elven culture and how stupid it is that they all act like they know so much when it's clear they know so very little about their past. Among other things. Like spirits and demons. She is fascinated by them to a degree that disturbs her clanmates a bit. And also anyone outside her clan who gets her talking.
She does not like Solas at first. She thinks he's super annoying. He thinks he knows everything, doesn't he. He won't shut up. And he's bald. And he talks like some puffy human noble guy. What's up with that. And he has opinions about spirits and demons that... make sense?? And sometimes he says something and suddenly she can't look at him anymore or she'll start smiling. Ass.
a canticle for leibowitz a book that is like a vaccine in getting you to forgive fictional christians for being annoying. i love you religion prevailing after the world ends and then starts again i love you the cyclical nature of man and empires and nations
"Hey, Missy, You're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind, hey, Missy..."
Missy The Second, or the (????) (dont worry about it) (DW canon is soooo difficult)th master. He travels with the 18th doctor.
That post settled rent free in my brain and of course when i was trying to design a master semi-redemption OC... and he's so addicting to draw!!
[ID: a digital sketch page with four drawings of Missy. He's a lightskinned man of indeterminate age, with a thuggish face, large nose, thin lips, fashionably wavy short red hair, and stubble. His eyes are green. In the main drawing he is smirking slightly and leaning on the wall, wearing a short white shirt under a black vest and large red fur or feather boa, black gloves, a red mini skirt that is long in the back and thigh high black boots. He also has red eye shadow, dagger shaped earrings with a red gem as a blood drop, and a golden necklace. In another drawing he is seen in profile, posing menacingly with a gloved hand. In that one he has a bird-skull earring. In the smaller of two little sketches he is seen from the back, seemingly cradling the 18th doctor's worn face. In the last sketch his eyes are closed and he is smelling a black rose that is losing petals or maybe dripping blood. His hair is straight in that last sketch. /End ID]
The way both Poly Styrene and Viv Albertine had a crush on Johnny Rotten. I hate to say it, but I kinda get it .
Janet Street-Porter, Mary Harron, and Ari Up too. there was just smth about him in the 70s thats like catnip. i want to throw beer bottles at him (positive...this is a safe zone for those who are affectionate towards him)
it’s well known that when natsume calls tsumugi “mojako” its in reference to this character of the same name:
less known, however, is that the “ko” (公) suffix in mojako (モジャ公) means duke. if translated literally, natsume is calling tsumugi “the duke of mopheads”
