imagine you all had been dating for a while, like you are spending so much time together that your family is definitely trying to figure out what’s going on. Your mom, bless her, already knows that this is about a boy and she’s been waiting on this moment your whole life. She gives a slight smirk every time you leave for a date or if flowers are sent to the house.

your dad on the other hand is pretending not to notice, but he’s horrified because you’re clearly no longer his little girl.

your little cousin is finally getting confirmed this weekend at her church and your parents, as her padrinos, are giving her a party after. your mom has suggested that this is a good time to bring your “friend” around. and boy was that an idea lol!

Jacob is slightly nervous when he pulls up to your house that weekend, vigorously running his hands through his curls. He pulls out three flower arrangements from his backseat and heads to your front door. When he rings the door bell no one answers, but he knows people are there because of the music. Just as he is about to ring the doorbell again he see you coming from the side of the house.

“Hey baby, you made it!” you say greeting him with a kiss on the cheek.

“Yeah, I rang the doorbell, but nobody answered! Oh and these are for you.” he replies handing you a bouquet of red roses.

“Come meet the family!”

As soon as you all make it into the back yard, Jacob is welcomed with open arms. You lead him around, introducing you to your tios and tias. Your tios are definitely strong arming those handshakes, but Jacob is taking it all in stride. Your tias on the other hand are pulling him in with a kiss on the cheek, like they’d known him forever.

Your mom just might like him more than you after she receives her flowers from him. “Why don’t you ever buy me flowers?” She says hitting your dad on the shoulders. He walks away grumbling under his breath about Jacob showing off. She is playing the perfect hostess as she shows him around the house. When she stops in front of the mantle Jacob’s eyes stop on a doll that scarily looks just like you. When your mom sees where his eyes are locked she pulls down the doll

“Te recuerdas mija? mi muñequita” recalling the memory of her baby girl.

You know what’s about to come next, and suddenly your cheeks are heating up as your mom reaches to replace the doll with the baby pink and white laced photo album. Jacob is still confused, until the first page is open and a picture of 15 year old you is on the page.

“Mama, él no quiero ver esas fotos”

“Y, ¿porqué no? estabas una princesa !” she says tearing up.

You’re shaking your head in embarrassment as your mom shows Jacob the pictures. You never thought you’d regret matching the rubber band to your braces with the bright pink ball gown or the amount of curls you claimed you needed because big hair was essential back then. She shows your dad gifting you the doll and switching your shoes. But when she turns to the picture of you dancing with your chambelan de honor Jacob turns to face you. “Who was that?” he says squinting at you.

“Oh that was my ummm—“

“tu primero novio, no te recuerdas mija?” your mom interrupts, clearly confused about your lack of memory of your quince.

While Jacob’s Spanish is minimal he definitely knows the word for boyfriend. “So you keep pictures of your old boyfriends huh?”

“what? no!”

He raises an eyebrow in skepticism

“Don’t worry, I’ll be up there in our wedding photos!” He says with a big grin.

You and your mom turn to him shocked. But he just turns back to the book wanting to see more of your quince pictures.

Your mom looks up at you, laughing “guapo y romántico, que bueno mija!”

Watching him laugh with your mom you know you’ve picked your forever. 🤍

I know nobody cares, but I just watched UltraMan: Rising. I just wanted to watch it because Kenji looked hot. Y’all didn’t tell me I would cry from watching it what the fuck. I hope they make a sequel.. I loved the animation so much- same reason I love the Spiderverse movies, animation that really feels like a moving comic. The story was fucking great. That’s not a fucking kids movie y’all, that is a… uhm.. I dunno y’all I’m still fangirling over how much I loved it. If you haven’t seen it go watch it. I’m kinda late to the party but I finally made time to watch it and I’m so glad!!!

what I would do for Miguel O’Hara to comfort me

I just imagine that as someone who has experienced trauma, he would be a better comfort than he realizes, because he listens and understands. No platitudes from him. No fake empathy.

And even without being a couple- he would still somehow be exactly what you need. You know? (And I mean.. doesn’t hurt to have your crush be the one comforting you, right?)

The way he’d only comment on your attitude and you lose it. You’ve already been triggered enough this week, and that was the straw that breaks the camels back so to speak. But he just lets you rant and blow off steam until you have to stop because you’ll cry. He knows you’re not one to cry, but sometimes that anger or pain doesn’t know where else to go, so, tears of course. He’d just be silent, but there.

How he’d see you stop moving, your body tense, tongue in cheek, eyes on the edge of welling with tears. Turning to fiddle with papers on the counter to hide the redness in your face.

I just imagine he’d be the type to turn and pull you into him, even if you’re nearly refusing to move or give in. He’d still pull you in, a hand behind your head gently pressing to his chest or more like his sternum at best, the other around your back just hugging you into him until you feel like you can breathe again and tears escape. No words, just quiet understanding.

Of course he’d break the silent caring moment with a little comedic relief, commenting something like “my lab coat is damp.” or “are you alright now or is this a five-more-minutes situation?” just to get you to let out a little laugh, and look up to see that usually stern face sneak a small smirk.

(…and yes literally 90% of the scenarios in my mind are with alchemax miguel.)
