Heaptober 2023! The 3rd heaptober ever! Some rules/explanation:

As always, any kind of art is welcome and encouraged (except AI art), including drawing, writing, moodboards, music, animation, sculpture, photography, if you can make it septimus heap related and fit the prompt then you can do whatever you please!!

You can stick to the prompts as strictly or loosely as you want.

You are completely allowed to post things late or early except for maybe prompt 31 "halloween".

Please add image descriptions to anything with an image. If you cannot write your own then dm me here or on @septimus-heap and I will do it for you

This year I haven't had as much time as I'd like to refine+order the prompts so doing them out of order is encouraged

Heaptober Day 21: Candles

If you wanna hear me ramble about stuff it's below the cut :D

Day 1: uhhhhhh idk witches are cool girls are pretty. I hate shading in this sketchbook because the paper is really bad quality. That's my real signature in the corner but you can't read it so it's ok.

Day 2: SO CUTE. I LOVE HIM. drawing rats might be my new favorite thing ever

Day 3: Beetle. I also love him. I'm trying to draw faces in perspective and it might have worked????

Day 4: very cliche very boring depiction of masks but it fits marcia and i am a cliche and boring person <3 also i wanted to draw her with long hair

Day 5: perspectives yay!! also hands! that's silas and gringe playing btw.

Heaptober Day 2: Message Rat

Message Rats do not have wings. They don’t want them, either, because it’s much easier to do their jobs without them. That’s what carrier pigeons are for. That's what humans are for. 

Message Rats work in secret. They work in the shadows and the quiet, and they care about privacy. Flying out in the open is a great way to be spotted and followed, but an even better way to be brought down and unable to get back up. 

Stanley knows all to well the importance of being unseen. He has been a proper message rat and a secret message rat, and he has been the leader of them all for years and years. He has seen some things, and he has watched as the Message Pigeon service lost and lost and lost, both business and people. 

So when he trains his kids, and his honorary kids, he tells them this: 

Never hitch a ride on a boat without a destination

Never try to ride on a human’s back

Never try to ride on a dragon. It’s not fun

Do not, under any circumstances, leave the ground or the water. Message rat’s dont do air. It’s in the contract.

Welcome to the second ever heaptober!! Its one of those events where you can make anything - moodboards, fic, fanart, pottery, poetry, do whatever you want. As long as it fits the promt well enough that you can explain it then you're all good.

Feel free to mix and match prompts!! There's no pressure to do every day or even most days, and if you want to combine some then thats totally your decision :]

Please tag your posts with "#septimus heap" "#heaptober 2022" and "heaptober" so that I can find them and reblog them here (and on my main!!) there's no real limit to how late you can post after the event ends but I'll probably stop checking the heaptober tag after a week or so. Images without an ID might not get reblogged so please describe your images. DM me here or on my main (@septimus-heap) and I'll either describe it for you or link you to a discord that will do that
