Happy Valentine’s Day, and happy Friday! Today I suggest you take the time to celebrate, and give offerings to Lady Aphrodite to thank her for the love in your life, even if it isn’t romantic. Valentine’s Day is a day for love, gratitude, and sharing that love and gratitude with others, and even more than that, today is a day dedicated to Lady Aphrodite. Take time for yourself and others, and have an amazing day everyone <3

Me looking at the Canada Geese I pass by every day and going APHRODITE!!!!!!! :) She is the glittering water of the Great Lakes in summer and the call of the mourning doves too okay.
What is your opinion on localizing the theoi
Hot take: Anyone who considers themselves a reconstructionist should be localizing their gods!
It gives us an opportunity to know our environments more intimately, which enriches our lives and worship.
I worship a localized Zeus—Zeus of Dry Lightning—because it almost NEVER rains here. I also consider Aphrodite the patron of my state since copper is our historic export, just like Cyprus :)

I'm learning modern greek using duolingo but i have to be honest... the only phrase i remember outside the app is " θα ηφελα το κουσκουσ" which means "i would like the couscous". And i really would like the couscous right now, i'm starving.

Going to a Catholic school while in the broom closet for Hellenic Polytheism is so funny and sad at the same time. We were covering Solomon from the Old Testament, and if you didn’t know, Solomon is this king of the Israelites that was said to be really wise but had like 700 wives, mostly from nations that were pagan. My teacher was talking about how his pagan wives came and influenced Solomon to worship their Gods as well as the Israelites’ God. My teacher commonly referred to the pagan wives and their Gods as “evil” or “corrupting” and turning it into a lesson about not letting idolatry corrupt your sacred spaces and I’m sitting here trying not to laugh because as she says that I, a polytheist wearing devotional jewelry to a pagan Goddess, is in the chapel she’s teaching in. She led a pagan into a chapel while teaching about not doing that.
At the same time though? I wish my religion wasn’t framed as evil by Catholics and Christians, or corrupting or a flaw. I wish people wouldn’t talk about modern religions, my religion, like they’re myths that only crazy people in antiquity would believe (even in Catholic schools, no, I don’t think shitting on other religions is okay). We’re still here, we’re still practicing, we’re still praying. We’re in your chapels, apparently, but we’re also all over the world and not backwards or insane.
High school only lasts so long, at least.
#rant#paganblr#helpol#this is old and it’s been sitting in my drafts and I just decided to post it#vent#vent post#what’s the difference between a vent and a rant? I have no clue#hellenic polytheist#hellenism#hellenic pagan#hellenic polytheism

worshipping Lord Hermes makes you much better at actually communicating your feelings with the people you care about, i’ve realized.
even when i’m unable to say what’s actually bothering me in the moment. even when i’m so irritated by people incessantly attempting to get me to speak when i don’t want to or ask me a thousand questions.
i feel like i’ve truly improved. albeit it looking like a small step to most, it’s definitely a massive step for me. i’m now able to explain to others what actually happened whenever i feel better and am able to do so. even if it’s as simple as “i don’t know what bothered me, but it did.” or “it wasn’t your fault, i was just not feeling too good.” or even “i didn’t mean to respond in a snappy way, it wasn’t intended to come off like that.”
i think small steps like these should be celebrated and honored. always take a moment to reflect on how and whether you’ve changed. if you have or if you haven’t, acknowledge that. love yourself through that. know that you’re doing the best you can and that you should love yourself as much as others and your deities love you ♡

It feels so weird to not have done anything religious lately, I mean, I did some subtle devotional acts and I've write to Erebos but I've take a step back from my practice because is was getting overwhelming and stressful. My mood disorder and anxiety clearly got in the way but I also felt close to Erebos, Dionysos and Melinoë, I just couldn't worship them the way I wished. And honestly I'm not sure I can now, I try to write, to create, but it's hard because it's slow and frustrating.

Let yourself be cringe in your worship!!!
The Gods don’t find you embarrassing. The Gods don’t care about seeming cool and professional for the approval of others.
Make that fucking aesthetic photo collage for Aphrodite with cute pics you found on Pinterest .
Dress up like Hermes and go for a damn walk.
Collect random stones you think are cool and put them on your altar.
Put that photo of that cartoon character that reminds you of your deity on your altar.
Make that Minecraft temple to Hekate, domesticate those damn Minecraft wolves for Cerberus.
Make your deities in the sims!
Write soppy melodramatic poetry for Dionysus that no one else will read.
Make self insert fanfics about your favourite Gods and write them all as your best friends. Let them interact with your edgy ocs.
Create an AU where you and your Gods are all characters from your favourite anime.
Record silly little songs for them
Make them paintings that are full of clashing colors and weird forms.
Draw them a fursona
Wear that bright yellow outfit for Apollon.
Put on a dramatic makeup look for Aphrodite.
Call your closest deity that silly little nickname you have for them and let them call you one too.
Share your special interests with your Gods. Design your God as a pokémon or a crystal gem, or a sonic character.
Those losers that try to make you feel bad for being passionate will never have what you have.
In the words of the Great Lord Hermes: “Every human I have ever liked was at least a little bit cringe”
BE CRINGE. BE PROUD. THE GODS LOVE YOU.

There was a tiktoker i dunno what happened to her but she used to say that Hermes and Apollo were a couple and that it was a UPG in paganism which is confusing because I read he was married to pietho and i dont know how to communicate with him to ask. I am trying to get into hellenism again but I sadly can't find her I heard from someone else that your beauty marks can tell you which gods want to work with you but I'm scared of impostors spirits
Ack! OK, there's a whole lot going on here 😅
To start, I don't see my gods as characters, so I don't feel remotely comfortable "shipping" them. I do worship the divine couple of Zeus Teleios and Hera Teleia (Zeus and Hera Who Are Made Perfect in Marriage), but worshipping an established cultic pair scarcely counts as shipping.
Overall, I do not see the usefulness of pairing gods together romantically unless it's personally theologically and cultically significant.
Next, I do not call Hellenic polytheism (modern reconstructed/revitalized worship of the ancient Greek gods) "Hellenism" because Hellenism/os is the exact word modern Greeks (Hellenes) use to denote their cultural, ethnic, and national identity.
Lastly, beauty marks do not remotely indicate that a god/dess has specialized interest in you. This idea started cropping up on TikTok months ago, and people have just run with it despite it having zero precedence.

BIG shoutout to those who are practicing in secret
y'all don't get enough recognition because leading a double life is exhausting (i know because i'm one of those people leading that very same double life)
shoutout to those who can't tell anyone about their practise
shoutout to anyone who can't own tarot or oracle decks and so use household items to do divination
shoutout to those who can't have candles or fancy altars
shoutout to those who practice in secret.

This is just a quick reminder that this blog is not a safe place for you if you are a terf. Especially if you try and push the fucked up idea that Aphrodite does not love trans women. I am trans myself and won't tolerate my sisters being disrespected by miserable radfems. Ty.
Lady Aphrodite loves everyone. Including trans people.

I've seen this saying being passed around a few times. Not sure where it is from, but I love it:
If you don't know who to pray to, then pray to Hermes. Even if he cannot help you, he knows someone who can.
