I don’t think people realize how rare life on planets is, how us existing on Earth is just so insane. All we ever knew was a planet full of life so we take it for granted— do you know how delicate life is, how exact the conditions on Earth have to be in order to hold life? that’s why I can no longer say « the universe is soooo big, there’s gotta be life somewhere » because I learned a fraction of what it took for there to be life here on Earth and I now know how difficult it would be for another planet to meet the impossible demands and standards of life!!

I feel like the way the public school system conditioned us to learn robbed us from so much knowledge. We are told to read from textbooks and read solutions and just absorb absorb absorb, but there’s so much more that can be learned from speaking to others and from experiencing new things and applying what you learned and working. Due to our lack of experience in gathering insights from these other parts of our lives, we missed so many lessons and opportunities because we didn’t know how to learn from our surroundings properly.

I think the fear of starting something difficult comes from the assumption that the difficulty will come crashing into you in rushing waves the very moment you start. But often times, the difficulty will show itself slowly, over time, only after you have been working on the task for a while. By the time you are faced with the difficulty, you will already be ready to jump over the hurdle because you’ve built the momentum to do so. Also, who says you have to get through the difficulty all at once? You can slowly work over through it, figuring things out along the way. And maybe you’ll discover that you had nothing to be scared of after all, that you have always been ready to start.

So just start with a step, however small.
