Name: Monkey Crab

Debut: Splatoon 2

Today we are talking about a Splatoon character beloved by all. More popular than the Squid Sisters! More respected than Off the Hook! It’s Monkey Crab! The world-famous Monkey Crab!

Now if you didn’t notice from us using a plushie as the header image, Monkey Crab is not real. Sorry. And I don’t just mean in the sense that most Splatoon characters aren’t real! He’s not real in the world of Splatoon! He’s what we call a cartoon guy, in the business. An in-universe fictional character! 

Monkey Crab first shows up in the stage MakoMart, which is a supermarket, and the devs had to make a bunch of fake food packaging for it! There is a lot of fun stuff like Off the Hook flavored cereal, but our star here got three different types of cereal all for himself! I think this stuff is super cool, since the world of Splatoon is already so cartoony, what would their cartoons look like? Monkey Crab gives a glimpse into that world, and what a world it is!

So Monkey Crab is a cereal mascot! Case closed! He is like a Toucan Sam or a Tony the Tiger, or a Buzz the Honey Nut Cheerios! But a fake cereal guy is not bound by the rules of our world, because...

A few months later, Monkey Crab returned to us... in the Amusement Park stage, Wahoo World! Now I don’t know about you, but I don’t see a lot of cereal mascots in amusement parks, in our world. I mean, maybe sometimes they collaborate? But this means either A. Monkey Crab was a cereal mascot who achieved incredible widespread success, or B. Monkey Crab was not originally a cereal mascot, he just happened to have a cereal tie-in. I choose to believe A, because it’s funnier!

Look, here he is in Inkopolis Square, eating Cereal! It’s SO his thing! So if mammals don’t exist in Splatoon, what kind of Milk do they eat with their cereal? Monkey Crab says Don’t Worry About It! :)

Keep in mind we didn’t even have a name for this guy until a Japanese exclusive magazine, where he was revealed to be called Sarukani! Sarukani means monkey crab. It definitely is a crab, and his face sort of is monkey-ish! (Though, monkeys are extinct, right?) Thanks to the power of Japanese Google, I managed to find a picture, with his official art and everything! So I did my best to translate it, even though other people probably have before:

He greets you with an 100% smile, the most popular cereal mascot at MakoMart! His smile is so wonderful, he's been showing up lately on commercials on the giant monitor in Inkopolis Square. (He's so popular that he's even being used on skateboard designs!)

So yeah! That pretty much confirms he’s a cereal character first and formost! And his smile! It’s the secret to his success, and you have to admit it’s a pretty great smile. What about the skateboards? Uh... we’ll get to that!

Now there’s actually a Japanese folktale about a monkey and a crab, which I am reading about on Wikipedia just now. It’s about a monkey who murders a crab with persimmons. And so much more! But none of that is important right now. The point is it’s usually known as Sarukani Gassen, or Monkey-Crab Battle, which might be where the name Monkey Crab comes from? Maybe? I dunno? It’s the sort of thing I’d expect from Splatoon, but I’m not sure how it relates to cereal!

Of course, I’m only really writing this post because of Splatoon 3, which introduced customizable lockers, and lots of Random Junk to customize those lockers with! And it just so happens a lot of that junk features Monkey Crab! I have a dedicated Monkey Crab shelf in my locker, and you should too!

There’s the monkey-crab cushion from the top of this post, but how about a monkey-crab mug! Would you drink hot beverages from this? Would you drink cold beverages from this? Look at that face. He is so happy to be providing a container for liquids.

And the aforementioned monkey-crab skateboard! Of course cereal mascots are no strangers to skateboarding in real life. Do you think Monkey Crab has a radical commerical encouraging Inklings to eat a balanced breakfast and do Extreme Sports? Because I hope so!

All three cereal boxes are available to purchase too! It’s interesting how they get progressively more expensive. Is coconut cereal rarer? Is someone scalping cereal? That they sell in the supermarket?

Are you in need of a laugh? Monkey Crab is sure to make you giggle and chuckle and chortle with his comedy comic! I’m laughing out loud just looking at this cover! I’m crying with laughter! I just love Monkey Crab so much!

But of course, this has all been a lead-up to the peak of Monkey Crab’s career, my personal favorite item in his collection...

Isn’t it wonderful? Just the title alone inspires such joyous whimsy! A whole Silly Land, for you to explore with your best friend Monkey Crab! Not only is it great they gave this cereal mascot an entire Switch game, but this officially makes Monkey Crab an in-universe scrimblo! Congratulations, Monkey Crab! If anyone deserves it, it’s you!

There are seven gods

Six inferiors under one superior

Five of these deities, when charged to create life, created one kind of animals: Avians, Reptiles, Fish, Mammals and Amphibia.

The sixth god then, created humans. It gave them intelligency, and all the other gods praised it for its innovation.

"How smart! To give mind to your creation! None of us would have thought of it!"

There was a contest actually

To choose one race to wield godness

All of the other races were able to wield godness

But the Sixth God's creations, becausie it chose to give them intelligence, they weren't able to wield godnesson their own

The seventh god, then, talked to the other five gods and told them:

i think it's missing some kind of conflict and family drama but i like really don't think I know how to go on with the mythology conflict thing. one solution i can think of is basing myself on the mythology conflicts i like the most, like the war thing between norse gods i think or the horus and set family war i like these ones BUT i wonder if i can make some interesting mythology without these conflicts?? it can't be a must.

maybe i can make god trials like---in my creation myth. the gods are struggling to create this and that and in each tale idk they overcome it with some clever solution or by using of some ✨virtue✨ to solve things and then that open room for a cool worldbuilding thing that would be each culture having a different creation myth that includes different featured virtues to solve stuff because those are the virtues the society/culture values 🤔 cultural clash is cool

i feel like it needs to have some kind of conflict, though. not as in war and battles but like. some narrative tension since it's a myth. myths are stories, after all

Fundamentals 1: Software InDesign Session 8 14/03/24

We were introduced to InDesign which is based on creation of pamflets, magazines and other similar mediums.

We chose A4 for our Introduction

allows more control

paragraph style brings up a box for style change for paragraphs

created using the text tool and dragging it down

created using window control

we then hit type > fill with place holder text with the columns selected

shown the ways you can realign text

we opened this menu to change the text style like a smart designer. by double clicking the basic paragraph menu

we changed the leading (spacing of the lines) and the size and font with preview enabled

removed hiphenation using the same option box

created headers by hitting return

we selected the header, hit + under our basic paragraph thingy

we made it bold and selected each header and clicked on the new header style

we then went into indents and spacing and changed the spacing of the headings

we then added bullet point text from moodle

created a new paragraph style for bullet points

added some leading for spacing between the bullet points and the paragraphs

made a new character style called bold text and made it bold italic

added phrog into photoshop and indesign and importing from the same file and folder

added a cowboy hat to the phrog and saved out

relinked the file

changed the image around, saved and relinked the image

move around using shift command

text wrap for wrapping text around an image

wrapped text around image ysing the 2nd icon from the left

held down option and dragged the image which duplicated the image then went into the text wrap menu and increased the spacing between the image and text

created circle around image and deleted

Random ass headcanons — Katsuki Bakugou

note: I was in a writing mood, but it’s also 1 am, so I compiled a somewhat short list of headcanons I had. should be gender neutral.

this was shit so I don’t care about RTs for this one.

Bakugou likes being the little spoon. I do not CARE about what you have to say.

He isn’t too interested in sweets, but Ferro Rocher are his favorite sweets because his parents would always buy him some when they went traveling for work.

He lowkey likes being pampered in a relationship— although he’ll never admit it. He’s always has been the bigger person.. it kinda gets exhausting, no? (what can I say, I’m lowkey into gender role reversal relationships)

Speaking of role reversal relationships, I think he would most likely get that from his parents. His parents do have that role reversal vibe.

He is very much likely a person who shows his affection by acts of service, but he does appreciate affection. That’s like a 2nd in his hand book.

would he get married? I’m not sure to be honest. HAHAHA. He doesn’t seem like it.. I honestly think he would be more like uhh sure if you want. He’s just happy as long as he’s with you.

he’s definitely not into PDA, but since most of you are touch starved. I’ll say he touches the small of your back as you two walk around sometimes.. as a compromise

God.. please call him handsome. I feel like he would be so flustered. ugh. or honey..

his nicknames for you? Teddy bear. SIKE. I’m sorry but that such a shitty nickname to me. it makes me angry for no reason. it’s so overused. probably some generic shit like dumbass, idiot, or (sometimes) smart ass but if we’re going lovey dovey mode.. probably baby.. I don’t know I’m not into nicknames. he’ll probably call you by your name.. or your last name. why the fuck do we love this man.

Bakugou isn’t a romantic, but when it’s a special day (i.e your birthday, anniversary, christmas etc.). He won’t make it a big celebration and treat you ultra special (because you’re supposed to do that with your partner everyday, according to him), but if you want that. He’ll do that for you because he cares about you, and it doesn’t hurt to see a smile on your face.

This is more for my sake, but if y’all ever get married and you don’t want to take his name (hiphenated with yours or not). He’ll think you’re badass.

Bakugou’s insensitive, so if you’re a sensitive person you’re gonna have to be straightforward with him when he hurts you. He may be smart, but sometimes he doesn’t know where the line is. He’s still learning.

his kisses are sloppy and harsh when he first started dating you because let’s be fucking honest with ourselves. you’re his first and he’s a dumbass sometimes.

he does appreciate soft kisses from you l.. like I said He likes being pampered and adored by you.

this is a cliche, but kiss his knuckles and hands. At first he’ll be a bit freaked out because this mother fucker’s hands are sweat as fuck, but he does find it endearing. my man melts.

Wesper wedding hcs

Wylan takes Jesper's name, hiphenated with Hendriks

Wylan wears white lace and a blue tie that matches his eyes

Jesper trades his abominable colour combinations for all white, but he's wearing at least three different patterns it's awful

He also has a top hat

Marya is the maid of honour, Kaz is Jesper's best man

Colm walks Jesper down the isle, he tears up

Kaz is not wearing gloves and Nina decorated his cane

Everyone is there, including Inej's parents, Specht and Hoede and some other dregs

Kuwei is also there

He makes a couple of remarks that Wylan isn't too happy about but they're all in good fun ofc

But kuwei brings a handsome Ravkan as his +1 so Wylan really has nothing to worry about

Even Alys and Bajan are present, with a little blond girl and is that a baby bump?

Alys is allowed to sing one (1) song

Jesper and Wylan dance a traditional Fjerdan wedding dance, taught to them by Matthias and Nina

Everyone goes crazy on the dancefloor after that

Kaz claims he can't dance because of his leg but it's actually bc he never learned

Inej makes up for it though with her light feet and twirls

Nina and Inej share a dance and Matthias and Kaz wonder how the girls chose them over each other

Wylan plays a couple of songs on his flute

Everyone is happy

Tipos de Letter Case

Neste post vou exemplificar os tipos de text case / letter case mais comuns que podemos encontrar em diversos tipos de texto ou em convenções e regras de uso, como na programação.

Os tipos letter case são:

Uppercase (UPPERCASE)

Lowercase (lowercase)

Sentence case (Sentence case)

Capital letter (Capital Letter)

Title case (Title case)

Camel case (CamelCase)

Pascal case (PascalCase)

Kebab case (kebab-case)

Snake case (snake_case)

Bom, pelos exemplos acima, praticamente já dispensa comentários =) ...mas pode ainda restar alguma dúvida em alguns deles.

Uppercase

Quando o texto está todo escrito em letras maiúsculas.

Lowercase

Quando o texto está todo escrito em letras minúsculas.

Sentence Case

Para cada sentença (uma frase), apenas a primeira letra está capitalizada (em maiúscula). Os separadores para cada sentença são:

Ponto ou pontos consecutivos (.)

Exclamação (!)

Interrogação (?)

Exemplo: Hoje comecei a estudar Javascript. Estou gostando muito!

Capital Letter

Este modo torna maicúscula a primeira letra de cada palavra. Exemplo: Hoje Eu Comecei A Aprender Javascript E Desenvolvi Um Text Case Converter.

Title Case

Este modo irá capitalizar a primeira letra de algumas palavras do texto, seguindo a regra gramatical de um determinado país. No Brasil, por exemplo, não capitalizamos os pronomes definidos e indefinidos quando estes se encontram a partir da segunda palavra do texto, entre outras regras.

Exemplo: “A Conversão de Texto”. 

Camel Case

O camel case irá capitalizar todas as primeiras letras a partir da segunda palavra do texto e irá remover todos os espaços entre as palavras.

Exemlo: “aConversaoDeTexto”.

No camel case, podemos ainda dividir em alguns casos particulares:

lowerCamelCase (quando iniciamos a primeira palavra com minúscula), este modelo é bastante usado na programação para os nomes de variáveis.

UpperCamelCase (quando iniciamos a primeira palavra com maiúscula), este modelo é bastante usado na programação para os nomes de classes.

Pascal Case

O pascal case é o mesmo que “Upper Camel Case”, ou seja, todas as primeiras letras de cada palavra capitalizada.

Kebab Case

Neste modelo de texto as letras estão em minúsculas e todos os espaços são substituídos por um hifen (-). Nas folhas de estilos CSS, escreve-se neste formato para separar os termos.

Exemplo: “eu-gosto-de-comer-kebab”.

Existe uma variedade muito grande de sinônimos para o kebab case:

Kebab case

Caterpillar case

Dash case

Hyphen case

Lisp case

Spinal case

CSS case

Hiphenated

Snake Case

Neste modelo temos todas as letras em minúsculas e os espaços são substituídos pelo underscore (_). Podemos ter também a versão “snake case all caps” onde as letras estão em maiúsculas.

Exemplo: “gosto_de_pizza”. Este modelo é muito utilizado na linguagem Python.

Exemplo (all caps): “GOSTO_DE_PIZZA”. Este modelo é bastante utilizado para nomear as constantes nas linguagens “C-like” (famílias de linguagens que se baseiam no C).

Conclusão

São muitos os tipod de letter case existentes e há uma infinidade de regras para se poder usá-los, dependendo da área de atuação, como na Matemática, Programação, Ciência, etc.

Muitas vezes precisamos converter de um formato para outro, e quando temos um texto muito grande não é um caso muito prático fazê-lo manualmente. Para isso modemos usar um case converter para realizar este trabalho de forma muito fácil.
