I’ve been seeing a lot of people posting about the BG3 fandom burning out or being disappointed that artists they love have moved to other fandoms - so I just wanted to post a little update from my corner of tumblr.

There is a TON of BG3 fan art and discussion still going on. My queue is like overflowing, even more so than it was several months ago. Like, normally I might see a post and it would be scheduled for reblog within 3 hours, now it’s more like 7+ hours with how much stuff I have in queue.

So, even if your favorite artist has been lured way by Dragon Age, there’s tons of other fabulous artists out there worth checking out for your BG3 fix!

Fandoms grow and change, that’s healthy! It’s also healthy for artists to draw what excites or inspires them! And there are plenty of people still inspired by BG3 right now, just give some new or smaller artists some love 💕 My blog is full of them if you need help finding any 😉

Meet Tua, the pretty party crasher and social disaster from @hippotooth. As the Dark Urge, Tua’s idea of small talk involves detailed discussions about her favorite weapons. She's a tad overzealous—by which I mean she's unintentionally terrifying at every social event. Thankfully, Gortash is around to keep her from turning soirees into horror shows.

Favorite season: Fall. Perfect weather, good seasonal food, cool colors, and FUCK YEAH HALLOWEEN

Skill I'd like to learn: I am DETERMINED to learn to snowboard this year. I've been trying on and off for like ten years but it's a struggle. But it's one of my boyfriend's favorite things and I really REALLY want to share it with him.

Best advice: In the immortal words of Ms. Frizzle, "Take chances, make mistakes, get messy!" Doing things badly is better than not doing them at all. This is the hardest advice for me to follow, but the one I always get the most benefit from.

What common/uncommon fear do they have?

Haryk's greatest fear is of being left alone and being completely forgotten. At the young age of fifteen, Hqryk lost his mother to an incurable illness. His father, torn apart by grief and unable to look Haryk in the eye, decided to cast him out. Before the tadpole, Haryk had been living alone for thirty-five years. [He will tolerate a lot of shit as long as it means he doesn't have to be alone.]

Do they have any pet peeves?

It takes a lot to irritate Haryk, but if he's going to be irritated it's going to be directed at anyone whose actions don't match their words. Don't promise Haryk you'll do something and then do the opposite. He won't be happy, and you might just take an arrow to the knee.

What are 3 items you can find in their bedroom?

Some pleasant smelling incense. Furs for extra warmth during the colder winter months. A keepsake box containing all of the little trinkets and treasures that belonged to his mother. [She gave them to him for safekeeping a few days before she died.]

What do they notice first in a person?

Eyes - especially if they are an unusual or exotic color. He also tends to notice when someone is making eye contact or avoiding his gaze. If someone won't even look at him when talking to him, it's a good way to tell if they are being evasive or worse... lying.

On a scale from 1-10, how high is their pain tolerance?

Haryk's pain tolerance clocks in at anywhere between five and eight. It depends largely on how tired he is. If he's run down and exhausted, there's a good chance that he won't be able to focus on what he's doing, and he'll notice the pain of his injuries more.

Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure?

Flight first, to gain some strategic distance. Once he's at range and has found himself some cover, he'll turn around and start to let arrows fly. He is frighteningly accurate, and rarely misses his mark.

Do they come from a big family/are they a family person?

Haryk isn't from a big family. He only ever knew who his parents were. Then, after his mother died and he was cast out, he stopped looking for the other members of his family. His father had left him feeling so unwanted and so unwelcome that he ran.

What animal represents them best?

A hawk or other bird of prey. No one sees him coming in a combat situation until it is far too late and he is already on top of them.

What is a smell they dislike?

The city in general, but it's because there are so many smells there that are off putting. He especially hates the stink of the sewers.

Have they broken any bones?

Haryk has been fortunate in that he has never broken a bone, or even lost a tooth, in his life. He's 100% intact, and has all of his parts.

How would a stranger likely describe them?

Quiet and a bit of a lonely soul, but a good listener. Haryk might not talk much, but he is always willing to lend his ear to someone in need.

Are they a night owl, or morning bird?

A night owl. He got his new surname, Duskwalker, from the fact that he would hunt for his food at night instead of during the day.

What’s a flavor they hate and a flavor they love?

Haryk isn't a fan of pork. He'll eat it if he's at risk of starving to death or there is nothing else around, but for the most part he thinks it's too fatty and greasy tasting. He would rather bite into a nice, crisp apple.

Do they have any hobbies?

Haryk is shy about it, but when no one else is around he likes to sing, He's by no means a bard, but he can carry a tune rather well. He's also good at trapping rabbits for camp supplies, and has a decent knowledge of which wild plants and animals are the best to eat.

Boom, surprise birthday party! How do they react to surprise?

Haryk's not a big fan of surprises, so he might be startled at first. Once he recovers, however, he will relax.

Do they like to wear jewelery?

He has a series of silver hoops in each ear, and that's it.

Do they have neat or messy handwriting?

Haryk's mother tried to teach him to write in a nicer way, but even with her best efforts his writing remains an unreadable scrawl.

What are the two emotions they feel the most?

Loneliness and shame

Do they have a favourite fabric?

No favorite, really. Haryk will wear most anything that is inexpensive, durable, and long lasting, He doesn't have the funds for the expensive things like silk, velvet and satin. [Frankly, they'd look out of place.][

What kind of accent do they have?

For the most part it's the standard in game accent, but when he speaks his native elvish, his accent switches over to a more fluid one.

💙 Hello talented people who create fan art and fan fiction! 💙

It’s probably just some random fluke of my dash tonight but I’ve been seeing a lot of discouraged people wondering why they aren’t getting more interaction, or followers, comparing themselves to other artists etc- so I wanted to share my perspective, for what it’s worth.

I’ve been doing this thing for a while where I seek out, and reblog, BG3 fan art that is under appreciated - doesn’t have a ton of notes, etc - so visual artists are more my niche than fan fic but this applies to you writers out there too I think.

I’ve noticed:

Interaction does not always correlate with quality ✨

I see a ton of art each day of all skill levels, mediums, and subject matters. There is a ton of amazing stuff out there that simply does not get notes.

More importantly:

Every post is someone’s favorite 💕

Your post may not make you tumblr famous but I guarantee you someone loves what you make. I can reblog something, see most of my followers not interact with it, then see one follower reblog it absolutely losing their mind in the tags because it’s the perfect piece for them. If you’re not finding that person, the problem is most likely circumstance and not you. Maybe they’re in a different time zone than when you post, blame tumblr’s messy tagging and impossible search function- not yourself!

Sappy as it sounds, consider me your biggest fan if you want! I’m grateful for how active the BG3 community is and love seeing your talent and growth as artists. I genuinely enjoy every post I like and reblog. Need a pick me up? Message me and I will shamelessly gush about how much I love your work and mean every word of it. 😊

Your art and writing are appreciated. Sometimes that appreciation isn’t as loud or as visible as it should be, but that is not a fault of you, devoted and talented people. 👏

Questions/Answers for my beloved durge ~Tuatha~ under the cut

What common/uncommon fear do they have?

Tua’s biggest fear is that she is unlovable and that getting close to her only brings suffering.

Do they have any pet peeves?

People being indecisive. She loses patience quickly when people dither about – particularly if someone changes a plan that’s already been committed to.

What are 3 items you can find in their bedroom?

A collection of fancy perfumes, neat looking bones, a well-cared for plant.

What do they notice first in a person?

Physical threat – Tua’s first assessment upon meeting someone is how easily she could take them in a fight, if they’re armed, etc. – like Mac’s Ocular Patdown from IASIP.  

On a scale from 1-10, how high is their pain tolerance?

10 – Tua handles pain easily, she’s quite used to it. She’s trained as a monk and has supreme body/mind control which she can distance herself from her body easily when anything gets too intense.

Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure?

Fight! Tua likes to fight and is often looking for an excuse to start one. She’s a resist durge, she tries to be ‘good,’ (if only to gain approval from others) but if she feels there’s any way she can justify the bloodshed, however flimsy the excuse, she’s happy to do so.

Do they come from a big family/are they a family person?

Tua is a durge character. She never knew her mother and was bounced around between foster families in Baldur’s Gate for most of her childhood. Many of these families were abusive towards her and she was eventually taken into the Bhaal temple after killing one of them. She does not claim any family.

What animal represents them best?

Mongoose!

What is a smell they dislike?

Tua doesn’t like the smell of cities – she gets overwhelmed and irritated by the fusion of smells you find in them – cooking odors, waste, animals, wells, smoke – all these smells individually are fine but their fusion in an urban setting offends her.

Have they broken any bones?

Many at various points, she doesn’t remember most of them.

How would a stranger likely describe them?

Off-putting and intense. Tua vacillates between being very intense and smiley when trying to appear friendly or intensely withdrawn. She has very limited social skills.

Are they a night owl, or morning bird?

No preference! I’d say most consistently she likes transitional hours, like dawn and dusk.

What’s a flavor they hate and a flavor they love?

Tua adores bitter flavors and her favorite food is leafy greens. She hates the taste of fatty meat.

Do they have any hobbies?

Tua likes collecting perfumes and the fancy bottles they come in. She initially started stealing them from her victims as a trophy – she enjoyed bathing herself in the scent of her victims, being able to walk amongst the city cloaked in a symbol of her kill with no one the wiser. Once Gortash noticed this hobby he took to gifting her luxurious perfumes as well.

Tua also like keeping dangerous animals as pets, gnolls are a particular favorite of hers. She spends time researching different creatures and doing experiments to see how they may survive in captivity.

Boom, surprise birthday party! How do they react to surprise?

“You like me, you really like me!!” Tua would be very happy anyone cared enough about her to throw her a party. She would probably cry.

Do they like to wear jewelery?

Tua enjoys jewelry, however, she finds it can be a hazard while fighting so she rarely wears it. She normally has some stud earrings in. She likes to steal jewelry and gift it to her lovers, she enjoys dressing them up.

Do they have neat or messy handwriting?

Extremely messy.

What are the two emotions they feel the most?

Shame and longing

Do they have a favourite fabric?

Linen – breathable, easy to move and fight in, easy to clean

What kind of accent do they have?

The standard in-game accent

I absolutely adore BG3 and its fandom. There is so much passion and creativity in it - and I want to try and support it! I reblog BG3 things that are under appreciated- either it’s a brand new post or it just doesn’t get a ton of notes for some reason. I did this for my dark urge, Tua.

I did not expect this result at all, but it was interesting and oddly cutting- had Tua actually been the one taking the quiz she would have been so offended by this result lol.

All Tua has ever wanted was acceptance and affection - yet these simple needs have been denied to her at almost every turn. She found it only once before, with Enver Gortash, first as devoted childhood friends and later as lovers - but he has been ripped from her repeatedly. She is constantly searching for a source of security and love. She’s self conscious about her social skills and desperate to try and make people like her.

So, to be the called out as a shell whose trappings may change but, no matter how much they change, lacks any true warmth or security - would be heartbreaking to her.

This my durge, Tua, with Gortash!

They were close devoted friends in childhood before fate ripped them apart, sending Gortash to the hells and Tua to the Bhaal Temple.

They reunite once he escapes the hells and go on to become one of Faerûn’s worst power couples. Obsessively in love and dangerously protective of one another, they will do anything to ensure they’re never parted again. They’ll also have a lot of fun in the process and actively make each other worse! I love them ❤️

I love art fight for so many reasons, you are making so much great stuff! My favorite thing though is it’s like a pop-quiz for recognizing everyone’s Tav/Durges- so cool seeing them in different styles - “hey, I know that blood covered tiefling!” 🤩 - it feels like seeing a minor celebrity out and about somewhere.

Hello! Do you have OCs? Do you wish to talk about them?

Hello there~ I do have OCs that I would be more than happy to talk about! I will preface though by saying I'm very new to having my characters exist anywhere other than my own head and have no artistic ability. So, my sharing is mainly limited to screenshots and disorganized ramblings. Despite that, ramble I shall with the slightest invitation - ty for the ask :)

My current obsession is my monk durge, Tuatha:

All Tuatha wants is a friend. She has spent her life seeking connections, any sense of belonging she could grasp, only to be sabotaged at every turn by her dark urges. While she finds great joy in bloodshed and violence, she resents how much it alienates her from her peers. Eventually she meets Enver Gortash - the first person she felt truly understood by and safe with - only to have it ripped away by Orin, a jealous rival who she tried time and time again to embrace as a sister.

After the nautiloid crashes, Tuatha is happier than she has been in years. Dark urges haunt her still, but they seem merely a disturbing echo rather than the isolating curse she once knew them to be. A deep need for acceptance still fuels her actions as she gathers with other survivors. She is overjoyed to have this many potential friends surround her and will do whatever it takes to win them over.

She is often seen around camp looking excited, with a slightly unsettling grin and a wide-eyed stare. She is protective of her new traveling companions and looks for any excuse to start a fight. She had extremely limited social skills prior to being tadpoled and the brain damage certainly didn't help matters. She is often overly honest and excitable in conversations. She tends to take things too far, especially if she thinks it may win her approval. She starts to feel understood and accepted by Astarion and realizes that maybe, for once in her life, she wants something more than just a friend.

Fun Tuatha Factoid: She had a large menagerie of murderous creatures as pets pre-tadpole, with gnolls being her favorite. She hopes to rebuild her collection soon.

I have so many little scenarios and ideas about her and I appreciate the invitation to share! As I said still very new to sharing OCs with anyone, so thank you again for the ask and thank you to anyone who bothered to read all this! <3
