I think it's so adorable that early humans took wild gourds - a tiny fruit that hollows out as it dries, making it float - and decided to make something out of it

they thought the tiny fruit was so good that they bred it for thousands of years, making it larger to form into bowls and cups, and different shapes to become bottles and spoons

and musical instruments

And then, people took the hollow gourds they farmed, and they turned them into houses for birds. We adapted them into the perfect houses for birds, and now there are specific breeds of birdhouse gourd just for making into birdhouses

And humans dedicated gardening space and time and thousands of years of breeding to make the gourds so absolutely perfect for birds, that there is a species of bird that lives almost exclusively in them

I was reminded of the time that tumblr tried to make "monster high but with tumblr sexymen", and one of the characters was (obviously) the daughter of the once-ler.

And the funny thing to me about that is that in the canon of the illumination lorax movie, the once-ler is heavily implied to have an estranged daughter. I don't know all the sexymen off the top of my head but I think he might've been one of the only ones referenced in that trend who actually had a daughter in his own canon.

The God of Time chips off pieces of itself and breathes life into them and when that life goes ass-end-up, Akatosh just can’t… be… fucking…. bothered.” He punctuates the last with his cane, tap-tap-tap-tap. Lyste stumbled backwards at Kanan’s shove, the back of his legs bumping against the low wall at the edge of the rooftop. The look he flashed backwards was terrified— but then he leveled a smug, confident expression at Kanan.

“Implying you’re going to throw me off the roof, Jarrus? That’s not exactly your style.”

Kanan paused to think, rubbing his beard. “You’re right,” he finally said, giving the man a smile. Stepping back, he nodded at Trilla Suduri. “It’s hers.”

Lyste’s eyes widened, but before he could react further, Trilla slammed a booted foot into his torso, sending him flying over the edge of the roof with a scream that faded as he fell.

Turning to Kanan, Trilla said, “You know, it wouldn’t kill you to ask her out.”

“It might, actually.”

“She likes you, she wouldn’t murder you.”

“Not sure I want to risk that.”

Lyste’s scream started again, growing louder, and Kanan looked up just in time. A winged figure shot up, holding him with one hand, and Kanan was treated to the sight of Hera Syndulla, in full Falcon gear. The metal of her silver and green wings glinted in the sun, and with the confident half smile on her face, she looked almost like an angel.

Stop it, Jarrus. You’re worse than Skywalker with that kind of talk.

Gliding forward, Hera dumped Lyste unceremoniously onto the rooftop, and Kanan advanced on him, prepared to question him again.

As it turned out, it wasn’t necessary. He spilled his guts in record time, and they were on the road again even quicker. One step closer to stopping the Empire, and to defeating the Winter Wolf who was hunting them.

Do you think Doumeki will get out of the yakuza?

i think he'll be out by the end, one way or another. not necessary out of his own volition, but it's not like he's attached to being in the yakuza in general anyway. i keep thinking back to his conversation with kamiya where he says that he shouldn't expect him to get promoted (ch 38) and the fact that doumeki ultimately doesn't have any ambitions, the only reason he got in is to exist in the same space as yashiro. it's hard to tell for sure but i feel like he wasn't really trying to get a higher position, he just got promoted because of the incident with nikki. like, i don't think he actually cares where he is in the hierarchy? and now that yashiro's back in the picture things are getting really messy. tsunakawa already doesn't trust doumeki, kamiya is smart enough to know that something's up, there is potentially more going on with izumi too. idk, i'd be surprised if doumeki stays after everything plays out, and i'm getting the impression that he doesn't expect to stay either
