“Kiss My Genders” is an exhibition catalog of a group exhibition held at the Hayward Gallery, London in 2019, which celebrated the work of more than 20 international artists whose practices explore and engage with gender fluidity, as well as non-binary, trans and intersex identities. The exhibit catalog features works from the late 1960s and early 1970s through to the present. The exhibition curator Vincent Honoré writes, “Kiss My Genders originated from discussions with artists, writers and activists. Conceived as a celebration of difference and of the rich spectrum of gender identity, it features a multitude of voices and approaches.”
About the cover image: Untitled (Li’ marvel) by Juliana Huxtable
“Juliana Huxtable uses her body to make original marks in the visual landscape. She poses against candy-coloured backdrops and uses her body to make a visual exclamation mark. In “Untitled (Li’ marvel)” she is dressed in a black leotard and, as her black braids fly behind her and a black background with streaks of purple offers a sense of forward motion, she reaches towards the end of the frame, grasping the space between herself and the viewer and pulling us into the void.” – written by Jack Halberstam in a chapter, “Making a Move – Object Lessons in Trans* Art” p. 24.
