No but reallyyy ugh this is such a hard question, I've been thinking about my answer very seriously. I’m gonna add a break so people not interested can skip because this is gonna be looooong.

Hello! Welcome to my little corner of the Internet and thank you for visiting.

I want to start by telling all the people of Texas, Florida, the Caribbean and especially those in Puerto Rico that my heart and prayers are with all of them. It’s heart wrenching to see all the news and see all those people suffering and losing everything they have.

I was born in USA but spend a lot of my childhood in Puerto Rico. We try to go for vacation as often as we can and have always love the people and the beauty of the island. My husband and I have a lot of family there and are both sadden by this awful situation.

Well, lets take a break from the sadness and let me show you what I did a few weeks ago using my Cricut Explorer Air 2®. I love Cricut products, they are easy to use and the possibilities are endless. With a little time and effort, you can create some pretty great things. I must mention that as of this post I have upgraded and I’m the proud owner of the Cricut Maker 🙂 yay!

Here is my process and materials:

I cut an 8 x 11″ of 110 pd card stock in half, score and fold in half to form the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ base.

Using Tim Holtz Oxide Inks (peacock feathers and fossiled amber) I colored and blended the colors on a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece of white cardstock. Using a spray bottle, I sprayed a few drops of water into the background to give an aged look. These inks are really a good investment, they blend well, are smooth and when you add water you get a very nice aged effect. I really like them!

Using Cricut cardstock “Candy Shop” blue I cut a piece that was just a little bigger than the one above, roughly 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 of an inch. The idea is to frame the colored pieced with a coordinating color to make it stand up from the card base.

On Design Space I cut the pattern you see on the card. Design Space is a membership program provided by Cricut to use with their machines. There you will find thousands of images and projects to use for your projects. The pattern I used on this card is:

Background – #M329B7 – Teresa Collins – Basics

This is a fine detail background and can be a little difficult to glue to the card. I glued it using a sticker machine by Xyron but I think the best way would be to just add adhesive sheet to the card stock then cut the pattern off. I found the sticker machine left too much residue that needed to be cleaned up.

When determining the size I made it a little larger that the size of the card stock to make sure the pattern looked proportionate. I just trimmed the edges and then glued to the card.

I cut out the word “Hello” out of black card stock three times in order to stack and glue together to add dimension and weight. I used a font from Design Space to design and cut the word. I covered the word with Ranger Glossy Accents® and let dry for a few hours. Is better to do this over night to ensure is all dry and looking glossy!

Out of the same black card stock I stamped and white embossed the word “sunshine.” This card has a simple layout that show off the background and pattern.

This kind of card can also be made even if you don’t have a Cricut. The pattern can be done with stencils or cutting dies. This is just another way to use that machine many buy and find intimidating! I know I did in the beginning!
