I love Dungeons and Dragons. I both play and have DMed. My favorite part is coming up with new characters to play as. Here's a couple of ideas that I have with some of the newer books.

I am currently playing this one in Icewind Dale. Her name is Aukan "Holysmiter" Ogolakuna, the Speaker of Good Mead. A goliath paladin who worships Nuada with the oath of watchers subclass. She's actually an alien from another planet and was unfortunately kidnapped with the rest of her clan. She was the only one to survive the crash landing, everyone else having either been made into Mind Flayres or their brains feasted upon. She has since been wandering around the north, trying to find a place to call home. She has since found one by becoming the speaker of Good Mead (if you hadn't guessed already). Since the mech dragon destroyed the Mead Hall, but not the rest of the town, we have convinced our DM to run a short homebrew after the winter is over to rebuild it and bring back the bees. Did I mention she has a bit of a pension towards violence? She likes to hit the characters that have big mouths on them. She also hates telepathy and is immensely scared of mind flayres, but will fight them because no one else should have to.

A high elf wizard that's from the school of scribes. She's a total bookworm and can always figure out the right spell for the job, but sucks when it comes to communicating with people. She and her husband were the best of friends since they were toddlers and stayed that even after he died of old age. The spellbook she uses was his final gift to her. She is convinced her dead husband's soul resides within the pages of the book and will talk to it often. This will make the other players think she's a bit crazy. When the spirit of her book gets to manifest, I want it to be her husband's ghostly form. I would also like to play it that, when she can cast spells from the book's manifestation, I want to roleplay it as her dead husband helping her and her party members as best as he can. I would love to play her in Curse of Strahd if I get the chance.

A dhampir ranger (I'm not sure which subclass yet, I'm thinking Gloom Stalker). He was actually born in Barovia as the oldest of several children and was born a dhampir (circumstances unknown). He has a craving for blood, but he suppresses it by always wearing a hood and a scarf over his mouth. It gets worse when he's injured, so he'll be more likely to drunk blood from someone if he's really bad off. He learned about the outside world from the Vistani and van Richten. Since then, all he wanted was to get away from Barovia and live somewhere else with his family. When the place was temporarily freed from the Mists, the family headed out towards the world. However, most of the family didn't have souls and faded when leaving. Only he and his younger sister were able to leave alive. They are now looking for a place to restart their lives. I think this would be a great character to play as in at least the first part of Waterdeep.

This is an NPC from my homebrew, but I would like to play a version of Valna Aloro, a moon elf diviner that has red hair instead if the normal hair color moon elves have. In the homebrew, she was able to see the past since she was tied to a dangerous artifact and the future due to her divination magic. She would be much younger (since she died at 1300 years old) and not tied to the artifact, but she would be a great support character, buffing the party, finging out information, and helping them do damage. Any campaign will do for her.

A warlock (no race chosen yet, I'm leaning towards human) that I would want to play as a magical girl. She would have Mask of the Many Faces so she can transform anytime it's time to fight. I was thinking of going with a fey patron, but celestial and genie also work for the theme. She would rename all of her spells to stay on theme as well (ex. reskinning Magic Missile to Loving Attack or something). I'm still trying to convince the rest of the group to take Japanese heroes archetypes (samurai, karate master, shrine priest, etc.) and make them all into a Power Rangers/ Super Sentai team. Roll call included. Her's would be "Mahou Shoujo, Magical (color)!"

What do you guys think about my character concepts? I would love to hear your thoughts about it.

hahaha thank you so much!!! this is so nice to hear, i really appreciate it :D I've been working on it a lot recently and unfortunately probably won't be posting any concrete story stuff/lore for a while because I'm like lowkey developing it for some maybe more tangible purposes right now- I will make a note of posting maybe some more sketches of my gorls :) maybe even share their names at some point. who knows! haha

but thank you again, its really nice to hear that someone is interested in their story :')
