it's one of those mindless activities he can do when he's bored or restless in order to get him to relax

miku expo was legit the best day of my life so i wanna ramble about it

edit: found this in my drafts and wanted to revive it even if this took place like a month ago now lmao

first off i wanna kinda stress something that i honestly might get flamed for

i was in the pit, literally the third row, and around the halfway mark people who didn’t have wristbands on (that you get if you’re in the pit) finagled their way in and no security stopped them. this was like 5 people near me and like 3 more on the opposite side of the chairs. i could barely move cus i was so squished in by them and beforehand i was taking the opportunity to jump and dance becus i was in the aisle becus it was very spacious.

i personally see this as wrong. like i understand the feeling so much of not having good seats becus they are expensive. my bsf’s parents payed for these seats and that was the closest i’ve ever been/probably will ever be at a concert. i am eternally greatful for them. however, if i were at any other concert with my regular nosebleed seats, i would not move up to somewhere where the seats were obviously filled and payed for. people work hard to have the kind of money to spend on good tickets, and i felt like they were stripping away all of that just becus there was some open space and no one from security happen to be watching

i do feel kinda bad becus my friend was complaining a little too loud and vulgarly without a proper confrontation and i was saying things like “yeah” and “real” and i think they eventually kinda heard us but they didn’t do anything in response until i finally asked them nicely to at least step back so i could move around. most of them listened then but one person didn’t.

i want to acknowledge that i probably wasn’t perfect either in a different aspect becus i was legit screaming my head off and i realize now that behavior can definitely be distracting. i forgot that convention idol etiquette very much applies to even a virtual concert because there are others around me that might not appreciate my loudness who aren’t performing, along with the band members (although they prob couldn’t hear me from backstage).

wanted to address my thoughts on the screen too. honestly i still think it’s a weird call (and would make a lot of sense if it was by crunchyroll) and i still think it’s rather cheap but i can at least acknowledge that the visuals were pretty crisp. im assuming it also helped people see it from super far away better. it was definitely not an experience ruiner by any means but it was pretty jarring for the first 10 mins or so.

anyways, on to the good moments. at the end i shouted thank you to the band members when they came out and one of them saw me gave me the heart hands AND IT WAS SO FUCKING SWEET AHHH

i went into this only knowing about 5 songs for the set list and i’m so glad for that becus the suprises kept hitting me. some of the most hyped songs for me were unknown mother goose and fraulen biblioteca. i was so happy they played a wowaka song becus he deserves to be honored in multiple countries. and with fraulen i have a video recording of it where me and my bsf’s convo went like this:

“i can’t believe they did it”

“I CANT BELIEVE THEY DID IT”

(for context we were debating which songs would get played on the way there and we wanted this one but thought it had a slim chance. also meiko is my fav soooo)

ALSO we didn’t know we got VIP till someone told us (thank you kind stranger). the tote bag is really nice and i’ve gotten a ton of use out of it. and i used the fan in place of a penlight the whole time- idk how it didn’t break. as for the other stuff it was just kinda meh to me.

lastly we got a shit ton of confetti from the cannon and passed some out to people and took a couple for ourselves too. i’m so glad they did that it was a nice touch and it looked so beautiful as it was falling tbh

i think that’s all i gotta say but i might make some fanart to commemorate it later (i just said this same thing in a post a couple days ago and i haven’t even started *that* drawing yet….oopsies).

I'm honestly so glad that I started to listen to them when I did. I found them at a time when I'm finally starting to think more positively about myself and seeing my own potential, like seeing that I can improve myself but also being kind to myself when I inevitably mess up. I think the messages in their songs are really comforting and make me feel seen. (Although I still remember the night when hug by seventeen absolutely broke me ahaha) Finding a talented violinist who plays music that I like has helped me want to become better in that sense too, although admittedly I have wanted to improve for a while, but Yechan has actually given me a goal which is nice. (I've started to try and learn boogie man and my respect for Yechan has went WAY up).

I have wanted to watch super and for ages!! I never knew where to find it though. I found out about it because I'd started to listen to Hoppipolla and then would watch compilation videos of clips from superband. It seems so fun! And the amount of talent would make me cry ahaha. I'll and Ha Hyunsang's voices in 1000x almost made me cry the first time I listened to it because they blended so beautifully. After getting into Lucy, I was kinda like, the bassist in the awesome cover of the Coldplay song (I can't remember what it's called lol) was Wonsang?! Yechan played viva la Vida?? With Ha Hyunsang?? That made me want to watch it more ahaha (although I don't know if I'll be emotionally prepared to see Sangyeop cry)

I'll let you know if I have any ideas haha, but definitely keep writing for Lucy! I really liked your style of writing and thought you wrote Sangyeop really well!

trying to start things off on a light note, the eccentrics definitely went on like,, trips together. particularly things like camping/hiking considering how many of them are like "society and people are weird. revert to rock" lmao. tsumugi would probably tag along a lot too

valkyrie was kind of just a result of mayoi and tsumugi's unlikely friendship during the war. it's pretty much just two skrunklies nerding over historical fashion

valk's old songs still happen, sora takes nazuna's place in them

i can just see tsumugi, mayoi, and sora hiding in like. the basement. of yumenosaki playing video games as they wait for the war to be over

i feel like mayoi would be afraid of himeru until he sees the others' softer side (doting on kaname) and then is like. huh. he's not that bad

i'm not too sure who forms a duo with wataru before crazy:b tbh,, natsume could easily make sense if i just made his relationship with his mom worse (i need to make up for the lost angst! /hj) but a wataru/koga duo is really funny to me

something bad happens between wataru/shu/kuro (possibly before or during high school) which takes the place of the amagi family conflict in canon for the !! era. i'm not really sure what that is yet though

both alk and cb have the sort of odd found family dynamic here too. except alk gets two mom friends and cb gets two deranged uncles

Cute! Its my first Kirby game in forever (last game was on the DS) Again its cute, fun, funny and its body horror for kids!

I've watched the previous two games so this was my first time playing a Bayonetta game. I was worried about getting into its combat so I played in casual for most of it. Did play in standard later and it turns out I was doing well lol

The story and ending was..something tbh I expected a lot based on the past two. Still I had fun as a newcomer and I enjoyed the customizing.

I was surprised at how its a linear game and a pretty quick main story. And the missions are there to build more playtime.

I wish that the story slowed down, so to get to know other characters more esp ones that Zack meets for the first time (Cissnei, Aerith and Cloud) and parts that were just skipped/skimmed through like Costa del Sol vacation time or when Zack inherits the buster sword after getting back to Midgar etc.

I also liked pointing out stuff I can connect to the og 7 :D

I will say I had a lot of fun with K2, such as the cabaret club minigame coming back, taking a lot of selfies (esp in front of dead bodies - Killer Kiryu) and the Majima saga. But unfortunately so far it takes last place out of the RGG games for me.

The main story didn't have a focus on the multiple plots and just revealed all the plot twists at the end.

Ryuji, hes hot but I came to conclude that hes very overhyped. He didn't have that much screen time :/ If it weren't for his popularity and spin-off appearances, I would've forgotten about him.

And I think major of all of why its last place is THAT ending...what. Like really a fake bomb? And did they have to make out?

Gameplay wise it was fun. Really like how interesting it was to play as different people and how they experience Kamurocho in their own lives. Cool change to always playing as Kiryu and from Kiryu's pov. Akiyama and Tanimura were fun to play as especially Tanimura's radio thing which I found interesting. Saejima's section I felt was limited, I think the police guarding everywhere scared me away from doing his substories; so I ended finishing his part earlier compared to everyone :( (luckily I got to do his side stuff at the finale part)

And I realized at the end I struggled with switching and adapting between each character's style. Because of that I very stuffed up at the final bosses and stuffed up so bad that I forgot how to play as Kiryu..

The story is..interesting lol It is definitely soap opera-ish. I actually got into it at the start and the part where Hamazaki spilled the tea but because of the freaking rubber bullets twist I couldn't take it seriously towards the end like I even laughed and was just howling. There were scenes where it was just presented dramatically, like theres one where it zoomed into peoples faces with a sfx which instantly made me think of those Indian soap opera memes lmao

Very recently finished the main story. And honestly I forgot how the story goes lmao its a very long game. The character profile mind map from would've really helped and also summaries like in 0 too (which I'm guessing is an improvement since that came out after 5)

It was fun how each character came with a second game (such as Saejima's Hunting Simulator for the Nintendo Wii and Project Diva)

The enemy encountering is very annoying /: separate enemies being close by each other in the same area ughhhh

Um, LOVED IT.

Loved that SOOO much more than the last one, by LEAPS!

Though it definitely takes place early on in the show, like REALLY early

Range to give? At LEAST before The Grumpy Effect, at the absolute latest it’s before that episode

Everyone’s development and dynamics with each other completely correlates with that point in the show, ESPECIALLY when it comes to Robbie and Bluster! But I’ll talk about them later

Togetherness was so cute!! She didn’t play a major role in the episode, but what time she did have was pretty fun and I liked her character! Her voice was also really nice!

Speaking of voices, I can hear Grumpy and Tendy’s voices definitely improving from the previous special, which I’m glad to see! Still not major on them, I like both of their old ones more still, but it’s improving. Which I’ll fully congratulate!

Despite seeming to be set early on in the show, the writing is on par with later episodes, which was VERY fun to see!! Again, especially with Bluster and Rob. But again again, I’ll get to them later

The bears were really fun in this one as well, I caught myself laughing at them a lot more this time. I thought Bedtime would take a bigger role than he did, him being on the poster and all, but his role didn’t last for too long in the episode. Which was somewhat disappointing, but I love the rest of it so much I can like, honestly forgive it tbh. Like he was still there and played his part, it just wasn’t the full ep, so the Bedtime food is still pretty good!

I liked Cheer’s character here, you can definitely tell she’s in that early on “I’m the leader I’ve gotta know what I’m doing and handle the issues on my own” phase in this ep! Which again, reminds me a lot of her earlier character back when the imposter syndrome she has kicks in!

The rest of the gang was also really funny, nothing major character wise there, just great to watch. Grumpy and Funshine’s lil hug bit was cute and Share thinking Bluster and Rob were funny and cool was a FEAST for me

Speaking of which I’m gonna finally talk about those two

ANYWAYS, they’re the biggest reason I believe so firmly that the episode takes place really early on in the show. ESPECIALLY because of Robbie herself, I assumed it pretty quickly after she started speaking at all.

Her character arc in the show starts pretty damn early on, like episode 14 early on, and was a pretty big part of style shows small narrative. Heck, I’d argue THE biggest part of it! Anyways, what I’m saying is her character was something the show really took care of and slowburned with, and by the last episode she’s changed a lot. Her motives and behavior changes, but so does her relationship with Bluster and the bears. Her dynamic with Bluster is horrifically strained to the point they almost hate each other, and she gets along with and likes the bears. She’s not like that at ALL here. And the bears? Don’t like her either

What I’m saying is, the show REALLY cares about Robbie’s character and growth,,,and I don’t think they’d actually throw that away for this special. Especially her development with the bears themselves

So it’s gonna be near impossible to convince me that this doesn’t take place after like, pffff,, I’d say close to A Yoorg Awakening perhaps

Cause her and Bluster get along, but they still bicker, which is very reminiscent of their characters in THAT period of the show

Hell I’d say this episode could be put like, RIGHT after Yoorg Awakening and it’d fit right in

So no I don’t believe they botched the character growth, it’s just early on in the show

Can we have the Diluc Harem and the misteltoe? It's close enough to the holidays, but if you don't want to right now, that's okay too.

Lmaoo, I love getting these harem requests. They take so long. But I really enjoy it so I'm glad I actually have a moment to do this.

But let's go.

Albedo

So the only reason albedo knows about the Mistletoe tradition is Alice. Like Alice was on the Albeluc train (She totally calls them albeluc) and knew she needed to explain this to Albedo. Like it was almost like a class she sat him down and gave him a whole-ass lecture on the "Christmas date scenario" Like you seriously can't tell me Alice A) doesn't know what a date sim is and B) hasn't played a date sim. So she's absolutely treating this like it's a date sim.

So she explains the details of how Diluc's gonna be extra cold being a pyro use so when they go for a relaxing walk in the snow, give him the scarf. Lead him to this nice little warm hideaway Alice will prepare. There will be mistletoe. Do not point it out until Diluc does. When he does, notices go for it! Be slow and sweet.

And Albedo just listens and takes Alice's advice to heart. Of course, it goes a little haywire (Diluc bundling up too much, them getting a little lost), but they still end up under the mistletoe. Diluc ends up a little embarrassed when he notices it and doesn't say anything. This flusters Albedo a bit because, again, he doesn't know what to do, so he just ends up talking about the properties of mistletoe.

After a few moments, Diluc cuts him off with a kiss, but Albedo doesn't mind at all.

Al Haitham

This would be like an office Christmas party deal. Like a celebration set up by the Akademiya, Al Haitham had no intention (He seems a bit scroogey tbh) of going until he heard Diluc was coming as not only the wine supplier but a representative of Mondstadt.

They don't get a moment as they both would end up working instead of really enjoying themselves.

But someone there, one moment of real contact ends up with them trying to pass through a hall that has mistletoe. Of course, people see and start cooing and urging them on. Diluc is very embarrassed and hesitant. But Al Haitham doesn't really have any shame, so almost on instinct gives a very sweet and warm kiss. That goes on a moment longer than people expect it to, but when it does end, Al Haitham gives Diluc a little smile and just.

"I'm satisfied with my work for today. I'd like a more private celebration. Care to join me?"

"That. Sounds very nice. Yes, I'll join you."

Before they leave, though. Al Haitham makes sure to grab Kaveh's key.

Ayato

Ayato is the one in charge of Inzuma's festivals so Christmas and New Year are a super super busy time for him. He does try his best to make time to be with Diluc. It always gets interrupted, though by some form of work or issue.

Diluc doesn't mind at all, though. He gets that the fall is a busy season for him; this is a busy season for Ayato. But that doesn't mean he doesn't miss Ayato. He doesn't want to bother Ayato, though.

Neither man sees it coming.

And the day of the big event, Ayato is being dragged all over, and Thoma is showing Diluc around up until the lighting of the big Christmas tree in the center. And Ayaka and Thoma make sure the Diluc and Ayato end up squished together in the excited crowd.

Both are surprised and happy to see each other. And somehow all of Ayato's work just??? Disappeared. Ayato has an inkling of what's happening, but he's just happy to be next to Diluc. So he goes along with this little plan of his sisters.

It's a very nice and relaxing Christmas date as they just wander around the festivities. Much to each other's surprise, they have presents prepared, and they exchanged gifts. And they end up taking a little break which happens to be under some not at all planted mistletoe. Ayato and Diluc both end up laughing because they'd caught on at this point but are honestly so thankful. So they just take a moment and just a soft, sweet, and warm kiss. Even after the kiss, they just stay there a moment longer and cuddle.

Childe

Childe is a holiday-crazy person. He loves everything about it. He loves gathering family and celebrating. He loves decorating for it and cooking. He really just loves it all. And he will always make it home for the holidays.

He probably talks Diluc's ear off about how he's excited to see his family again and about all their traditions. Diluc, who's been alone for every holiday since his father's death, hardly makes a sound but is actually really happy for Childe and enjoys listening to Childe talk about it. He sort of wishes he had plans, but. He's not the type to impose himself.

I do think Childe does end up asking Dilcu about his plans. Which. really really embarrasses Diluc, and he knows if he saw he's going to work, Childe is going to cancel all his plans to be there. So Diluc, out of character, tells a little lie and says he'll be attending the party at the knight headquarters. And for a bit Childe is really excited for Diluc but he eventually asks Kaeya about their holiday party which confuses Kaeya cause Diluc already rejected the invite.

And Childe is confused for only a moment about why Diluc would lie about something so small as he gets ready to cancel his plans. It ends up hitting him that Diluc didn't want him to cancel. Diluc knows he misses his family and wants him to be with them.

But Diluc is Childe's family too. And Childe isn't really the type to give up. So with the help of Adelinde, Childe invites his whole family down to MOndstadt (and reluctantly invites Kaeya and the knights), and they plan a big huge Christmas party at the manor all while Diluc is unaware. He does smell something fishy when Kaeya Jean and Venti start acting secretive around him but doesn't pay it much mind.

And come the day, Adelinde makes sure Diluc is out and doesn't come back till take as they hurry and prepare.

Venti is the one who plants the mistletoe at the door.

So when Diluc enters, he's quickly greeted not only by Childe but by very passionate and excited kisses form Childe (who only just noticed the mistletoe and might have panicked a big cause he didn't want anyone else NEAR diluc and mistletoe.)

Of course, Diluc is surprised and a little upset at Childe for a moment but upon seeing Chidle's whole family and Diluc's here. He's really embarrassed but also really touched. He almost cries. But Childe makes sure to keep peppering him with kisses while the party kicks off.

They both proceed to have the best Christmas ever.

Eula

Eula only comes to Knight events because Amber forces her to. But she still turns up late and towards the end as not to ruin anyone's mood. This all is doubled for the Knight's Christmas party.

Diluc has never attended these events unless it was because he needed to drop off wine or something, but he's a little warmer during the holidays.

So Eula would have no reason to think Diluc would turn up at the holiday party. Even though she just came back from an expedition and has been very busy supervising holiday transports. So Diluc hasn't had the chance to ask about her holiday plans. So he ends up attending the knight's party to get a hold of her.

Amber instantly sees Diluc and goes to get Eula. She doesn't even explain as she grabs Eula by the cape and drags her home to get her ready and just scolds her. Eula is absolutely confused and Amber forces her into a nice dress and does her make-up and hair, and draggers her to the party. But she understands the moments she sees Diluc there awkwardly sitting in the corner drinking some hot chocolate. He's clearly uncomfortable but waiting for someone. And it's clear he doesn't notice that he's wandered under some mistletoe.

Eula hurries over and just like "What are you doing!"

"Eula! Finally." And Diluc just lights up with a little puppy, and Eula is already plotting her revenge on him for not only not telling her he was going to be her but for looking for handsome and cute. He instantly starts trying to give her the gift he has prepared, but Eula stops and points to the plant above his head.

"Oh."

"Yes 'oh'. It's unthinkably rude that you stand under the mistletoe while ur partner is not here. This calls for quick punishment!"

"Eula I didn't me-"

And she kisses him in front of everyone. And of course, Diluc doesn't mind at all that he's gotten a kiss, but he's embarrassed as all get out and his face as red as a tomato. But Eula is very satisfied with her work and defiantly ends up enjoying the party.

Itto

Itto totally plans to snag a Christmas mistletoe kiss from Diluc but plants his gang member around the festival with mistletoe. Like they are just trying to be good wingmen, but it ends up in a big misunderstanding, with everyone getting arrested because people thought they were running around trying to get kisses from people.

Even Itto ends up jailed for trying to bust them out so they can try a new plan.

Well, as normal it's Kuki to the rescue. But she as the ultimate wingman and sort of as punishment brings an exasperated Diluc along.

"What were you all doing running around with mistletoe?"

None of them wanted to admit it until Kuki cracked her knuckles.

"We were helping the boss trying to Get a mistletoe kiss from you?"

Diluc is very surprised by this. but just ends up sighing and shaking his head. Before, just moved to stand under some mistletoe that the police had set up for their little Christmas party and just folded his arms and waits. Itto just lights up and awkwardly scrambles under the mistletoe with Diluc and just grabs Diluc's shoulder. He honestly stops and just really appreciates how cute and kind Diluc is. He knows he sort of messed up the holiday part but Diluc not only that against him.

"Are you going to kiss me or what?"

"Ah! Sorry. I just. I'm really thankful that I... get the chance to love you."

"Itto..."

And before either gets more embarrassed Itto finally gets his kiss.

Kaveh

This is much closer to Al Haitham's scenario. But Kaveh was the one who invited Diluc to the party, and both are more enjoying themselves. Kaveh honestly really is taking the moment to show off his perfect and beautiful boyfriend. He probably gets a little over-inflated ego and goes around bragging to people.

Diluc gets absolutely embraced and, unable to take it wanders off. Kaveh notices but also quickly notices Diluc moving towards some mistletoe, and you know who else is near the mistletoe?

The bane of Kaveh's exsistance. Al Haitham. So, of course, he rushes over glaring at Al Haitham the whole time while startling Diluc but while he gets Diluc away from the mistletoe he ends up under it himself.

Diluc just smirks and points to Al Haitham.

"Darling... Please you are here too!"

"Ha. I'm a little exhausted though, and I think I'll head back."

"Diluc! Ok, I'll stop. Please? Anything but that?"

"I don't know. We've hardly had time together because you've been so busy chatting with others."

"Mercy, please."

"Alright. But Promise we can just go come and celebrate alone? I'm actually really exhausted, alright."

"Whatever you want, darling."

And Kaveh manages to avoid a terrible fate and earns a very, very sweet kiss.

Thoma

Thoma's a very traditional sort of Christmas person. He likes a nice night at home with loved ones for Christmas. He likes decorating, though, making food, and making Christmas cookies. It's probably while in the middle of baking that Adelinde asks him to hang up the mistletoe since he is the tallest person there. And he happily agrees to help.

So he's wandering around the house thinking about where best it should go when Diluc comes home.

"What are you doing, Thoma?"

"Oh! Welcome home, Diluc! I'm just." Embarrassed as he realizes what he's holding. "Putting up the mistletoe."

"Uh-huh."

"...."

"I don't think it counts if it's not hanging up."

"Huh... Oh! Oh!"

Realizing what Diluc was implying he quickly hangs up the mistletoe and the moment he's finished Diluc gently smiles and Diluc rewards his hard work with a little kiss.

"Merry Christmas, Thoma."

"Merry Christmas, Diluc."

Xiao

So Xiao would not be attending any holiday parties. And probably doesn't really have any plans until Diluc mentions the holidays and talks about how he has to attend a party for work meetings. Xiao doesn't really mind so much as Diluc promises to come to see him after. That is until Xiao learns about mistletoe.

He just shows up to his party and starts secretly taking the mistletoe down. But as usual, Diluc ends up noticing him.

"Xiao, what are you doing here?"

"Ah..."

Diluc quickly notices that Xiao is under some mistletoe.

"Do you know what the human custom is for mistletoe?"

"Yes." Xiao admits and ends up showing Diluc the mistletoe he'd already collected. "I... did not want to be caught."

"Xiao." Diluc chuckles and comes a little closer. "You can say no if you are caught under the mistletoe. Which is what I would have done."

"I wasn't worried about you... but someone forcing you."

" I appreciate the concern. But I'm a little stronger than what you give me credit for. And besides, look what we are under now."

Xiao glances and sees the mistletoe he hasn't taken down, and his face reddens as Diluc chuckles.

"So... would you like a kiss?"

But Xiao doesn't answer; he only pulls Diluc down and kisses him.

Zhongli

I think Zhongli is very excited to take part in festivals as a human. And he does try to experience all he can as a human. And experience with Diluc makes him all the more excited. Of course, though, he ends up explaining to Diluc all of the Liyue holiday customs. And Mistletoe is more of a Mondstadt tradition, so Zhongli still thinks about mistletoe in terms of liyue medicine. So when they walk under a gate and Diluc stops them.

"Look mistletoe."

"Oh. Why are they hanging medicine."

"Ha. It looks like they've accepted a Mondstadt tradition."

"This is a Mondstadt thing? Mistletoe in Liyue is just a medicine for the skin and Aching joints."

"Ha. In Mondstadt. Mistletoe is a symbol of love and fertility. The tradition is to hang the mistletoe. And when two people walk under it, they kiss and pick a berry."

"Oh."

And Diluc waits for a moment, looking and Zhongli expectantly. But when Zhongli only looks back at him with a little look of confusion, he sighs and pulls Zhongli down for kisses. When he finishes, he picks and berry and hurries off, leaving Zhongli a little stunned and more than a little love-struck.

(@official-hatsunemiku) read the rfyl update like an hour after it dropped? benreys prank was SO SCARIES if i was gordon i would have gone straight to the panic attack. i do think it def in character for him and i really appreciate how it SHOWS how hes changed between the original series and this with apologizing and calming gordon down. even the slow realization of when gordon still believes it that you can see benrey is like. Oh Shit.?

i also really like the short conversation with tommy about it, for some reason? it wasnt even gone over that much but like. hey, you messed up, you shouldnt joke about that and you gotta apologize for it, but it's not a make or break and we're gonna keep moving.

it doesnt feel like.. separate? from the plot? it goes along with the story itself really well. really similar to the actual series with genuinely scary stuff being immediately bounced back from - but they dont just let it go and not talk about it, they acknowledge it and are clear about their feelings on it and move on.

i liked it, its a neat little thing and tbh i think we need a ltitle bit of that stuff to keep us on our toes!

Thank you so much for the feedback! I was being kind of self-critical about the interaction when it first dropped, but I think it's that kind of thing where you've been sitting on the detail for so long that you don't know what it's going to look like for people who haven't been marinating in it.

I'm glad you picked up on Benrey's gradual realization that he fucked up-- I didn't want it to be a super sudden 180 for him. And yes!! He's changing!! He's developing and learning! His revelation at the end of the Memory fic was a real wake-up call about how the way he sees things isn't universal, and he needs to communicate when there's friction. It's something that he and Bubby have in common that I'm looking to dig into with future works. They both like to play jokes and mess with people, but don't always see the context that makes the jokes harmful until it's too late. Bubby was super into gaslighting Gordon for goofs during the original run, so when Gordon later explained that he was experiencing a psychotic episode during the military ambush and fully believed that he was going to die of an amputation wound... yeah. Bubby fully blamed himself for putting Gordon into that headspace. He still likes to fuck with Gordon these days, but he's nervous about Gordon's triggers.

I wanted it to feel smoothly incorporated into the plot instead of just a Gotcha! so I'm glad it read that way. The tension's high, so a big scare followed by the relief that it was only a poorly thought-out trick helps to release some of that tension while also developing some character. Talking to Tommy about it wasn't originally planned, but I'm SO glad I put it in, honestly. You've got Benrey admitting he was wrong and processing it with somebody, you've got the characters acknowledging that something important happened, letting it make its mark while still allowing themselves to let it go, and you've got something to fill the action space while I get Gordon and the gang from Point A to Point B. I'm gonna need a lot of that last one...

rent has never sounded this good musically speaking. HUGE fan of the symphonic orchestrations. bro they got a harp and an english horn in there. in RENT! it's perfect

plus the sweeping strings and big brass sound reminds me so much of the orchestrations of the golden age and mid-late 20th century musical theater orchestration style and i have such a soft spot for that, i really really enjoyed that much

conductor was a ton of fun to watch he was just grooving up there on the podium the whole time

i love that they did a short orchestral medley as an overture at the top of the concert. do not love that the audience chattered away during the whole first part of it but i haven't yet perfected my mind powers to be able to shut them the hell up yet. alas.

dear gd when the audience started to clap along at the beginning of la vie boheme i was like. SHUT THE FUCK UP. thankfully it petered out fairly quickly but like what were you guys THINKING

actually i think opera has spoiled me a bit now because the audience needing to stop and clap and cheer for So Long after Every Single Number. kind of exhausting lmao. let's get on with it guys.

performance wise ali stroker was the star. i went in expecting that. and i was right <3 her delivery of "'THE ONLY WAY OUT IS UP!!!' she whispered." or whatever the line was in over the moon was genuinely funny. hard scene to pull off without being extremely annoying about it but ali stroker manages to pull it off! go queen!

there were a lot of wheelchair users in the audience tonight i noticed and i have no doubt a big reason why they were here was to see her. good for them tbh

okay i normally don't like to rag on performers much but i really. did not like the guy who was playing benny LOL. i just did not like whatever he was doing vocally, he sounded like a dollar store jason derulo to me. actually funnily enough my first thought was "he's giving mj the musical" and then i checked the digital program and he was in mj the musical on broadway...lmao. anyway not the vibe for benny imho

also while i don't think the guy playing collins was at all bad, i wish he had more Presence in his low register. the vocal cast as a whole was missing that low bass-y tone and i expect more of that from collins especially which i was very much missing here

very very glad to finally go to a musical and not absolutely need my earbuds to get through it. it did get a little loud at points especially towards the end but nothing that i needed hearing protection for. thank you national symphony orchestra

(of course i went into it as an Orchestra Concert whereas everyone around me went into it as a Musical Performance so. i'm better than them (joke))

although the sound balance was not the best? there were a lot of times it was hard to hear the actors singing clearly over the orchestra. now i understand that it can be tough to mic a singer loud enough to carry all the way over an entire symphony orchestra, and i'm honestly glad they didn't try to solve that problem by upping the amps to an earsplitting level. and honestly with this performance in particular i'm not even upset that the orchestra is covering the singers a little bit because the orchestra is really what i came to hear (besides ali stroker) and the orchestra is just sooooo good here.

still, worth bringing up, especially in the moments where everyone is singing all together, especially multiple lines simultaneously as in will i, christmas bells, and la vie boheme. especially for the ensemble singers, whom you could barely hear at all

i liked the lighting overall too. decent key lighting on the actors. attractive use of color and textures. for a concert performance it was good and surprisingly not obnoxious

also there was a surprising amount cut from the script for this. i've seen in concert performances of things before and i know it can vary a lot from show to show and performance to performance whether it's just the songs or if any of the scenes are kept as well; rent in concert hewed closer to the former in spirit. almost all of the dialogue was cut, as were a few of the "less important" musical numbers (most of the voicemails, we're okay, etc). even a couple of sections within larger, important musical numbers were cut (notably in christmas bells, which disappointed me bc i actually really like that number and was excited to hear the FULL thing with the orchestra. i feel cheated.)

which honestly leads to some. weird plot pacing? like if we're cutting all the voicemails out of act i that's fine but then they have alexi darling's voicemail from voicemail #3 there in act ii (but still none from the parents anywhere), and it comes out of nowhere. joanne's mini-reprise of we're okay in happy new year A doesn't really land the same when we're okay was cut entirely from act i too. and the entire collins and angel relationship is like ??? when they cut the scene of collins getting beat up in the beginning (but they kept angel meeting and helping him, of course), as well as cutting their section in christmas bells. like ??

honestly the near-complete excision of dialogue is really funny to me cause it feels like they were trying to solve the problem of rent having a messy plot by just. removing the plot entirely. and gd help you if you were watching and weren't already intimately familiar with the plot of rent as it's supposed to go because it was IMPOSSIBLE to follow from this version lmao. and yet they somehow managed to make the little bit of plot (loose as it is) that remains even more confusing and weirdly paced. incredible. zero notes

anyway tldr ali stroker good national symphony good LOVE these orchestrations and i hope that overture/medley becomes a pops concert staple or something

In SR1 Casey is 15/16, claims to be 18/19, looks more like a very tall 13yo, so if she met Anteros she would probably see him in the same way as the Saints when she first meets them which is impressed/intimidated/has a very brief crush on them (ok not the latter for Julius but that's cos she has some serious daddy issues around him; 'trying to kill each other was our playing catch' etc etc etc). Meanwhile based on their dates of birth Anteros is 8 years older than her and she barely talks so he'd probably have the prevailing view most people do when they meet her at that age which is "this child is very angry, who gave them a gun?" (I suspect he'd also know the answer to that question).

SR2 is SR2 so I feel like most versions of the Boss from that era are going to be kind of scary; I doubt how much they could really form a conversation without accidentally or purposefully killing each other unless Johnny could intervene. Shit, you know it's bad when Gat has to be a peacekeeper.

Pre or during SR3 it depends if she was in 'I have a public appearance' mode or 'I'm wearing t shirts and hoodies and sunglasses because the syndicate are watching' mode because combined with how she talks and being a bit uh... whorey... that tends to exacerbate the perception that she is an idiot. But she has found her confidence and her friendly side so if they talked enough to actually get through to a real conversation they could certainly bond over being bisexual, Jane Austen/literature in general?, and their intelligence being underestimated. One would hope their Greek mythology names would be a talking point since her birth name is Cassandra but lets face it she's not telling anyone her name at this stage. Unless they actually managed to corroborate that they are essentially AU versions of each other. I guess maybe he enjoys the fame? Whereas she sees it as a bit of a chore but a necessary evil to maintain money/power/avoiding the consequences of her actions.

Post-SRIV, she becomes a lot more calm and controlled as she hits 30 but then idk how much your SRTT/SRIV rewrite deviates from the canon so I can just imagine Casey casually describing the events of SRIV/GOOH as they happen in-game and Anteros slowly backing away thinking something along the lines of "This woman is certifiably batshit.". Actually I'd love it if they met then. That sounds fucking hilarious.

during sr1 era he probably wouldn’t hang out with casey much? even if she says she’s 18-19, he still thinks she looks way too young and doesn’t want to be in charge of watching her😭 (and tbh probably catches her lie fairly quickly but keeps it to himself). overall probably just would not think much of her at that time.

sr2 is pretty much always gonna be the same answer regardless of characters haha😭 they’re just gonna be argumentative and butting heads the whole time. johnny being peacekeeper is a funny mental image. then again i don’t think pierce or shaundi is gonna do much at that time anyway. they’ll watch and bet who throws the first punch.

srtt anteros is a lot more amicable comparatively so if they did have an extended conversation they could probably find some common ground. bisexuality and literature is a good starting point lol. the greek names connection is also super interesting; tbh if she’s familiar enough with it she could be the first person to actually know where his name came from, and he’d definitely be impressed with that.

and yeah i don’t consider all the alien stuff from sriv canon (so i guess that’s. all of it then.) BUT if somehow they met and she started describing all that he would just be laughing incredulously the whole time. he’s like y’know what. sounds good. at this point he’s hoping the aliens come he’s tired.

On my initial listen, I liked Golden, but I was unsure if I truly loved the album or if I was being slightly biased. Flash forward to the TSX stage, and I realized I absolutely love every golden song. I just can't explain how much excitement I felt and i wasn't even there lol 😆 Although I do agree with people who critique it because it lacks cohesion and story, all the songs are a vibe and are def meant to be performed live. I officially became JK biased this year so I'm hoping he finds time in between group work to release another album and possibly tour later on. Ugh I'm just not ready to move on from Golden lol

You mentioned that no album was a masterpiece, but I honestly believe Indigo is. I just found this album to be perfect in every possible way. I have not heard such a cohesive album in a long time.

Layover was a pleasant surprise for me. It's just the perfect chill album. The only con for me is that it's too short lol it left me wanting more.

D-day- I really like SDL, people pt 2, and snooze. I don't really play the album that often, but the songs I listed make it in my playlist rotation often.

Face- I hate saying this but I didn't really enjoy Face... I know this is such a Fandom favorite but I just couldn't connect to it 😔 I'm hoping he goes in a different direction for pjm2

JITB- I'm not really a rap person but there's something about hobi's flow that's so addictive. That being said I did enjoy his previous album more than this one.

Hi! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! The thing with Golden is that I'm JK biased so of course I would grow to love an album my baby loves. But besides that, Jungkook's voice is my favorite in the whole world. It's so addictive, and all the Golden live performances made me love the songs pmore. Yes or No, for example, sounded better live.

Golden doesn't have a story, true, and I wouldn't call it vibey like Layover, but Golden is also the kind of album you just know not to expect much of in terms of artistry tbh. Pop albums can be cohesive, but Golden is just not that kind of album. If you like pop and listen to Golden without expecting more just because it's BTS, I doubt you're even disappointed in the lyrics and lack of flow. But Jungkook is more than capable of releasing a fun album with good lyrics.

My favorite songs are SNTY, Somebody and 3D (Alternate Ver).

Indigo is cohesive, and I guess when it comes to Face and Indigo, maybe I can't appreciate them properly because I didn't dive very deep into the lyrics. I don't mind thinking about lyrics, but I don't like it when lyrics seem vague and too poetic. I know how that sounds, but I like Suga's lyrics because they're so straight to the point, and I like relating the lyrics across his work. No one else makes me want to do that.

JITB seems to be a fan favorite along with Face. But I guess I'm not a big rap enjoyer. And Hobi's tone can be too much for me.

I've no idea what the members will do. At this point we can assume every rumor is true because they nearly always are, even when they're off a bit. We know V has a song with IU next, and I wouldn't be surprised if he has more collabs or solos lined up. Jimin has that song with Ryan Tedder and maybe an album? RM has his project, and probably tons of collabs knowing him. I remember an anon telling me Jungkook would release a collab with Katy Perry? And I'm pretty sure there is a Latto collab too? I didn't hear anything about Suga. But he might have done a few collabs and produced a couple of songs? I guess Jin and Hobi are a given. They'll definitely release something when they come back, and Hobi has an OST album coming up?
