Scary Finley! had alot of fun sketching this one. The axolotl inspired gills r alot more visible here, plus i gave him a moray eel-inspired second jaw! yk, just for some extra charm ;)

he's supposed to be over water here, so his hair is laid back alot more. I'd like to think its rlly heavy and you can only ever truly see the full volume of it when he's under water with it, since it sorta just clings to him mostly when on the surface. I did give it a lil bit of a curl, but that's mostly cuz i couldnt help myself hehe

Which female horror throwback do you like the most?

Despite not doing a Jennifer's Body throwback, Sabrina Carpenters new clip for her song 'Taste' reminded me a lot of Madison Beer's clip for 'Make You Mine".

Both are very iconic and are amongst my favourite film clips of the year, but in the spirit of running a blog and finding reasons to post, I thought I would do a little poll.

Madison Beer - Make You Mine

Madison's clip draws on inspiration from Jennifer's Body and gives us a fanfiction style ending that depicts Needy and Jennifer as a couple.

Sabrina Carpenter - Taste

Sabrina's clip draws inspiration from many films, including Ginger Snaps', 'Death Becomes Her' and 'Kill Bill' (despite not being a horror).

I wanted to practice digital painting again, but had no ideas what to draw. In the end, I ended up doodling the two characters I'd made for a Silent Hill 4 based story I am writing for my friend to read. (IDK where this came from, guess I was nostalgic for my old horror story faves or smth lol)

These came out pretty well, I should really do this more often. Noses are still a pain to do with this style tho....

It was basically clogging up my writing creativity, so I HAD to type it out before I'd be able to continue writing my other projects lmao. Since I don't feel comfortable publishing it necessarily, but kinda need to have a reader to motivate myself to write these things, my friend agreed to do so, despite knowing very little of the source material, which I appreciate.

(I could later turn these two into proper characters for my Night city parlor story set, just with some adjustments in design and OFC story)

This is info for my Spider-Man adaptation, so let's break down what this version's canon is like. THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE BASED ON THE MCU.

• This adaptation emphasizes the horror aspects of Spider-Man's mythos, ranging from the stories told to the characters. Additionally, horror tropes and archetypes influence the story arcs and characters.

• Along with the above, it makes the main cast more diverse, regarding character races, disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ identities.

• An overwhelming majority of the cast is in college, not high school like most adaptations.

• The goal with more convoluted stories from the comics (like the infamous Clone Saga) is to streamline them.

• Spider-Gwen/Ghost-Spider is intentionally absent from the AU, to stick closer to the original comics. That, and she's not a main-continuity character, unlike Peter & Miles Morales.

• Aunt May & MJ are given more of an active role in this take. They know Peter is Spider-Man, along with this AU's version of Gwen Stacy. They each have different roles on Peter's team.

Tony Tony Chopper Horror Edition!

This was loosely inspired by Eichiro Ora’s drawing of a 60 year old Chopper in an alternate timeline where “something goes wrong”; his line “bring me the sacrifice” really stood out to me and thus fueled me to draw this.

Video game I saw in a dream. It was in this low poly style like an older video game. You play as this character I think was meant to be a lamb, or maybe a weird mix of a lamb a mouse and a rabbit, (while not really looking like any of those things) and you’re running away from a wolf. Your objective is to last as long as possible before the wolf catches and eats you.

The house you’re running in is endless and bizarrely put together like most building interiors in dreams are (like the infinite toilet dream dimension on Reddit lol) the layout of the house is pretty detailed, you can stop and hide in places like closets or bins while the wolf looks for you, you can go up and down stairs and into rooms etc.

You never actually know where the wolf is or how close it is to you until it appears in your line of sight, it makes no noise and the game gives you no way of knowing where it is, and it’s pretty unpredictable it doesnt move at a consistent pace. When the wolf catches you there’s an animation showing it eating your character

Your personal triggers and squicks do not get to determine what kind of art other people make.

People make shit. It's what we do. We make shit to explore, to inspire, to explain, to understand, but also to cope, to process, to educate, to warn, to go, "hey, wouldn't that be fucked up? Wild, right?"

Yes, sure, there are things that should be handled with care if they are used at all. But plenty more things are subjective. Some things are just not going to be to your tastes. So go find something that is to your tastes and stop worrying so much about what other people are doing and trying to dictate universal moral precepts about art based on your personal triggers and squicks.

I find possession stories super fucking triggering if I encounter them without warning, especially if they function as a sexual abuse metaphor. I'm not over here campaigning for every horror artist to stop writing possession stories because they make me feel shaky and dissociated. I just check Does The Dog Die before watching certain genres, and I have my husband or roommate preview anything I think might upset me so they can give me more detail. And if I genuinely don't think I can't handle it, I don't watch it. It's that simple.
