I love the scenario of Grimsaw just getting real mad at young John and Arthur for not cleaning themselves and washing their hair properly and they are just like "we can do it ourselves >:(" and she is like "clearly not" and forces them in a bathtub where she washes their hair while yelling at them meanwhile they just sit there blushing and embrassed because they are teenagers naked in front of a lady but in truth this lady just sees them as her children.

Hosea and Dutch are just standing in the doorway laughing and Grimsaw threatens if they don't shut up she will force them to clean next (lets be honest, look at young Hosea, man was not clean, Dutch was spotless through).

❀ This interest literally refuses to leave and when it does rarely it comes back even worse bruh it’s been years bro GET OUTTA MY HEAD!!!! (rdr) ❀

But anyways i cant stop thinking about the development of Dutch and Hosea because on one hand we know Dutch in specific isnt supposed to be a good man; he’s an antagonist and it’s evident through his actions and his outward spiral into insanity to some extent but then there’s Hosea who’s a consistent mediator and staple to the gang while being Dutch’s right hand man and best friend (and his last living love if viewed platonic OR romantically)

The rival between colm and Dutch, which the start of it was due to Dutch killing colms brother, we can assume due to the time period this was a robbery, some form of blood money but not for revenge infact it’s supposed to be seen as an accident to the players, in return colm kills Anabelle, which is known as dutchs lover, and due to her death Dutch is stuck on vengeance and killing colm and as many of his men as possible (which is also why Kieran and his death are so important and symbolic within Dutch and his morality and life philosophy) to avenge her death,

The story is written where the gang and the colms gang had a loose partnership so we can assume Arthur, John and other EARLY gang members may have even known Anabelle (such as Hosea & miss grimshaw) so it’s not like this descent was random, Infact quite the opposite.

It’s evident that due to love for Anabelle he loses a majority of his sanity and then when Hosea dies he looses the rest of it, and he’s unaccepting to any form of love after this, we can see this through his loose rejection towards Molly and generally the rest of the gang aswell

I just think it’s insane how the man who yes while evidently does bad things is written off purely as bad with no intent behind it, it’s evident that due to revenge, descent of poor mental health, general loss and everything situationally based is why things occur the way they do

I think we should talk more about the story Dutch tells when the curious couple and their unruly son is out fishing.

Dutch: "Hosea, remember that time we sent Arthur out finish and he came back with three beautiful bass?"

Arthur: "not this again..."

MEANING DUTCH HAS TOLD THIS STORY SEVERAL TIMES!!

Anyways he proceeds to say that they partied over those fish and FEASTED but the next day they were at thr market and a fishlady asked "so how did you enjoy those bass?"

It warms my heart so much because I can definitely picture 21 year old Arthur standing by a river getting all grumpy because he isnt catching anything and then just in secret going to a market, embrassedly trying to hide his fishing equipment as he buys the fish, and imagine the fucking blush on his face when he was found out😭 Arthur I love you so much.

Recently learned that the color of the vest and tie Arthur wears during the Saint Denis ferry gambling mission changes depending on if you have high or low honor (blue for high and red for low) so now i am obsessed with the idea that the prominence of the colors red and blue on certain gang member’s outfit also reflects their honor level.

Whittemore variants versus Arthur’s default outfit, which doesn’t have a scrap of red on it, however no matter what his blue shirt is always fucking dirty and stained. And remember the gang criticizes you if you have blood all over you.

Hosea wears the blue vest (sometimes brown) but he generally has his red neckerchief on, but he also owns a red and black scarf. Mostly good but a little bit of bad.

Red is prominently featured on Micah. His entire shirt is red and he’s usually wearing his jacket like he’s disguising his nature. Even the the grips on his guns have red. And when you rescue him from Strawberry he does not have his coat.

Dutch is the most interesting to me. He has the checkered red scarf which he rarely wears and the red pocket square over his heart. Only the back of his vest is red, like he’s in denial about it, or that it’s only possible to see who he is when he isn’t facing you and putting on a show. Meanwhile on guarma his vest is suddenly reversed!

When Hosea is killed he is wearing a completely different outfit with a blue vest and absolutely no red, and both Milton and Dutch are covered in red!
