Mega Absol and Mega Houdoom in a battle for the ages.
I combined these prompts into one thing, cause I really dug the concept.

(@absol-trainer)
I'm considering catching a Houdour, any tips?
General notes:
The houndour is a decent pokemon for those who can control it, but its evolved form requires a LOT of care and attention.
General care:
This line is a fairly simple canine type pokemon, and as such its care reflects that, with a good quality kibble providing perfectly fine nourishment. Treats such as organ meat and bones are also excellent, and though houndoom is much more carnivorous, houndour have been known to enjoy small amounts of foods such as squash, pumpkin and watmel berries. Take care not to provide too many treats, especially not human foods which are often full of fat and salt, and this can cause pancreatitis.
As a fire type, some kind of fire proofing is essential, especially when its young. Young houndour often struggle to control their fire, especially around the 2-5 month range. A fire extinguisher is very useful to have, ideally one in each room.
This entire line is very intelligent, and requires a lot of enrichment and play. Toys and puzzle boxes are excellent choices. A bored houndour is dangerous.
Houndoom horns can sometimes catch on things, especially inside, and many trainers use horn caps. The ridges on their body are made of exposed solid bone, and as such houndoom require more calcium. Their horns grow continuously over their lifetime, and an elderly houndoom may require surgical shortening as they start to weigh them down. In the wild, they don't live long enough for this to become an issue.
Overall, the houndour line isn't too difficult to care for.
Care rating: Green
Training:
HOUNDOOM ARE AGGRESSIVE. This cannot be stated loudly enough. They are an aggressive pokemon with a HIGH prey drive. If you intend to keep it as a house pet, you will have to rehome any smaller prey pokemon. The most you can do is train them to not attack immediately but one sudden or twitchy move and there will be tragedy.
Battling partners have an easier time as it spends longer with them, and has slightly stronger instincts for "this is my clan mate we fight together" but even so I wouldn't put a houdoom next to a prey pokemon in a doubles tournament. Even raising a houdour with a prey pokemon is potentially dangerous. It's all fun and games until your pachirisu is startled by a loud noise and triggers an instinctive lunge.
Houndour are less aggressive but may try and push their luck against you. Make sure you don't let them push you around.
Moving on from that serious warning, when it comes to young houndour, it is essential to make sure you know the difference between deliberately lighting a fire, and a fire started by an accidental sneeze. These are very smart pokemon, and punishing it for "nothing" will cause grudges. In the case of accidental fires, the houndour is likely as startled and frightened as you. Take care of the fire then provide comfort. If it was deliberately lit, pokeball it. If done well, a houndour pup will feel comfortable running to fetch you if it accidently starts a fire, which is a VERY good thing for it to learn.
This pokemon line requires a lot of care and effort to train. You cannot ever allow it to slip into bad habits. No matter how much you love and trust your houndoom, you must always be mentally present when dealing with it. Failure to maintain control can lead to tragedy. A particularly dangerous pokemon might wind up euthanized
Training rating: Red
Safety:
The houndoom is technically venomous. Though not classed as a poison type, glands in its jaws produces a nasty, highly flammable toxin. This substance, when applied through flames or through a bite, causes severe, long lasting pain. Though the claim it "lasts forever" is perhaps an exaggeration, people have reported it taking years for the issues caused by the venom to fully subside. There are a number of support groups for people who've wound up on the wrong side of a houndoom, as well as groups swapping care tips for their injured pokemon.
As well, fire types require a lot of care and alertness.
Safety rating: Red
Overall ranking.
Though they have their moments and can be as cuddly and loving as any pokemon, their aggressive tendencies and high prey drive means houndour and houndoom aren't exactly beginner pokemon. When well trained and controlled, they are excellent pokemon, whether battling, securing buildings or playing, but when allowed to run rampant, they're an accident waiting to happen.

Hi please use this ask as an excuse to talk more about your pokerus AU I love this kinda stuff and would like to hear more about it. You mentioned more character specific stuff and I am :eyes emoji: at just. the whole thing
LAUGHS EVILLY >:] THANK YOUU
Miscellaneous fun facts:
Steven canonically has the brain of a supercomputer because of the metagross part. Yes this means he’s basically Google. And also he can project the sounds of a video if you ask for it. I do this because I love comedy
People can learn Pokémon moves and have their abilities. With training they can control this at will
Lisia knows Draco Meteor and can summon it on command like this
Tumblr media
Steven gets metagross eyes when he mega evolves. Run if you ever see it
Wallace has a calming presence because of milotic dna and is the only person to have successfully calmed down mega evolved people before.
Juan has the ability sniper and knows laser focus. So if he finger guns at you and he’s Mad At You, RUN.
I’m mashing up pokespe a lot with this au and Ruby and Sapphire are in place of Brendan and May because I don’t care about their gameverse interpretations that much. Ruby is Swampert and Sapphire is Blaziken
Ruby has self esteem issues because swampert isn’t a conventionally “cute” pokemon, but he gains confidence and self love over time due in major part to Wallace :]
Sapphire wants to battle in two ways now: fist fights, and Pokémon battles. She cannot be stopped.
Even though Winona doesn’t ever have a masquerain I’m making her once since Altaria is already taken. Bug ladies win
All water type pokerus people can breathe underwater. Also hoenn becomes more accessible because lots of water types are mermaids and need to use wheelchairs on land. Win!
Courtney and Tabitha are Houdoom and Mightyena respectively as a play on the “guard dog” idea
Shelly and Matt are Gorebyss and Huntail because they need more love and I like them

🪞 - What Pokemon would your character be?/What would your character look like if they were a human?
💯 - What would your character be like as a Gym Leader, Elite Four member, or Champion?
//Already answered the pokemon one hehe so 'll just do the second one
Sprite would most likley be a gym leader out of any of those things and a good one at that. Specialising in fire types ofc hehe. Its team would consist of his arcanine, a typholsion, houdoom and a vulpix probably. He wouldn't say much or give a speech like other gym leaders before his gym, I reckon youd go to interact with it and the dailouge would simply be "..." and then after you win "..."
Rambling on now sorry but yes- he would make a good gym leader :)

There is nothing that will convince me that Akari hasn't fought and won Pokemon battles with her bare hands. Lord Avalugg was the size of a house. She got into a fistfight with 4 different gods and won all of them, you think a freaking Houndoom is going to scare her. The internet is simultaneously terrified and hyped. Homegirl's really lives up to the BAMF Standards Cynthia unintentionally set for Sinnoh's Champions.
The most important thing to remember it’s that, to Akari, every Pokémon is Baby. (Even the gods)
So it’s very hard to intimidate her with a pokemon. Like she can respect it’s abilities and it’s strength, but she is also always ready to give pets.
She is also extremely knowledgeable on how Pokémon think and behave. She knows weaknesses and when best to time dodges for specific attacks. She knows how to use the environment around her to her advantage when dealing with pokemon bigger then her and a KO’d team. She’s survived alphas chasing her across the Hisui since Dusk was just a Cyndaquil, and the many mythical and legendaries she’s had to catch in order to face god.
Very little can faze her now a days. You’re more likely to distract her with an incredibly cute Pokémon then intimidate her with a fierce one.
So when Blaze rolls up with his Houdoom, the biggest reaction he gets out of her is Akari pulling out her Pokédex journal and asking for details and specifics on houndooms diet and temperament lol

Dick Grayson and Damian Pokémon team pls!
Okay Damian first because I sorta cheated with him. The thing is Damian already has four cannon pets so I actually just choose two of his team based on personality and vibes.
1. His starter would have to be a gift from his grandfather during his treinament and therefor it was a Riolu. The Pearl pokedex describes it as small but extremely powerfull and I think that this was the comparisiom that Ra made when presenting him to Damian that while they were both small they shouldn't be underestimated. Since Riolu evolves from friendship Damian soon had a Lucario. Lucario it's able to feel aureas and acording to the Shield dex it only trusts a trainer with justice in it's hearth. So yeah a great Damian Pokemon. Since Damian's nicknames for his pets progress from a more serious to a more casual naming system, Lucario is Tsu based on the writer from the art of war.
2. His second Pokemon actually got a sillier name. It's Sharpie his shinny Aegislash. Because Damian got to have the sword Pokemon and Aegislash is the only non legendary one. He got it as a Honedge. When he got to Gotham it already was a Doublade. When he had more trust on his sibblings he told Dick his Doublade wanted to evolve but they didn't had the means and Dick and Damian had a trip around Gotham (later Steph joined in) until they foind a dusk stone to evolve his partner.
3. Titus the Houdoom was Ace's puppie and Bruce gifted it to him. Damian was very proud to have the son of his father pokemon on his side.
4. Goliath the Noivern. His feroicius bat like dragon type is bigger than most Noivern and it's feral. It hates everything and everyone except Damian and it's an menance except worh Damian it loves Damian and specially his trainers belly rubs. It's very protective of it's trainer.
5. Bat-Miltank thr Miltank. Damian rescued it from a farm that was abusing the poor Pokemon. It's a bit shy towards most people but loves Damian. It uses a bunch of Bat theme costumes.
6. Alfred the Sylveon. I don't care. Sylveon is a cat. And that's not because I'm a cat person and love Sylveon is just a fact. Firslty I though about giving little Dami an eeve to represent the endless possibilites he has a the youngest Robin but i couldn't avoid giving him Eeves friendship based evolution. Now depending on the continuity Damian still has an Evee (that Dick gave him) but during his time on the Team Titans it evolces to a Sylveon.
▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️
And now let's go to Dick.
Dynamo the Corvinight. Rockidee was his first catch during one of his various travels with the circus. It was there for him when he lost his parents and they have a huge bound. The moment he became Robin on his first patrol night Rockidde evolved into Corvisquire and nust the same it became a Corviknight as Dick became Nightwing.
The other Pokemon he got during his time on the circus was Larry the Dreepy. It took a long time but during his time leading the Titans (still as Robin) Dreepy evolved into Drakloak and finally when he was helping Damian train and bond with his mons and family it evolved into a Dragapult. Now I choose Dreepy because it's pokedex entry says that while a weak Pokemon it can get stronger if it has a friend to help him along the way and Dick looked a lot like someone who would occupy it's papper. The fsct that Drakloak has an entry about how it helps other pokemon get strong and it's very encounranging of the profress of the dreepys it lives with also matched both Dick's leading spirit in the titans and how he was with Damian and in a minor level Tim and even Jason. It also flyes really really fast.
Wayne the Sweallow his first catch as Bruce's ward. Later with Court of Owls debacle he discovered that the court planted the Pokemon (when it was still a Tallow) as the first step into Dick's indoutrination as a Talon but fortunally failed the rest. Wayne got it's name because it's really serious.
Turbo the Vaporeon. Eeve was sorta of a gift from Bruce as he took young Dick to a Pokemon rescue center and after Dick had bonded with the small pokemon Bruce decided to let Dick keep it. It was always close to Ace. Dick evolved it when Wally took him to an stone vestival. He let Turbo choose if he wantsd to evolve and the stone it wanted and it pick the Water stone. I got Vaporeom from Dick because I like the idea of the Batkids having Eeves that evolced diferently , besides that there was the color match and the fact that Vaporeon is really good at disguise a think that a kid who goes around in shinny costumes has to also be really good at.
Yiipee the Togekiss. Dick got it as an egg he rescued during one his first solo missions. It soon hatched into a Togepi that was really shy and only showed itsef for Dick, Barbara, Cass, Kory and young Jason. It was really upset when Jason died. Togepi evolved during a battle against Joker as he was treatning Tim and both Togepi and Dick couldn't lose another brother. During their adventure to find a dusk stone Damian fpund a shinny stone he shyly gave as gift to Togetic (and Dick) the Pokemon accepted it happly and evolved. Togekiss was choose because I just think it vibes with Dick really well.
Finally Dick's last team mate is Haley the shinny Dusk Lycarock. He was based on Dicks actual cannon dog. I choose dusk Lycanrock because Dick fights mostly at night so midday wound't make sense (though is a good catch for Duke since it highlights the fact he is Gotham's day protector) and midnight just doesn't vibe with Dick so he got the special third form.

How's the egg doing, Avren?
"Fine, at least I think so? I've never cared for an Egg before, so I don't really know what to look for. When Sam and I are hunting down Herba Mystica, it stays with Mom (who ends up coming anyways, defeating the point), but when at school, it's with me."
He glances over at where it sat in Houdoom's dog bed, the old Pokemon curled up around it.
"Or in Mom's office with Houndoom. He misses Uncle Clavell, but seems to be comforted by cuddling the Egg. I wonder why."

behold, a lab grown asshole thrown back in time ref! a decent one!
Name: Khan A. ►doesn’t ever give his last name. He’ll make something new up every time.
Pronouns: he/him
Age: late 20s, he tries not to think about it too much. It’s depressing for him to realize the time he’s lost to being experimented on and the time he lost to spend with his former human family.
Biology: human/houndoom/hydreigon mashup- and not a fun kind. Human at his base, he was altered in a lab to have houdoom and hydreigon characteristics. He received pain and anger along with them.
Personality: Generally aggressive, reckless, and rather an asshole. He loves fighting and battling as it helps relieve the heightened aggression he got from being experimented on. Very much morally gray. Wouldn’t hesitate to kill someone unless he likes them, and even then he still might try. Oddly self-aware. Loud and surprisingly protective over a handful of people. Also incredibly artsy- he loves working with his hands and carving things.
History: Now that he knows it, he tries not to think about it.
TLDR
►Got yeeted back to Hisui after trying to fist fight Arceus for allowing Khan to be experimented on
►Arceus tried to fudge his memories to calm him down, but instead of fudging them it 100% cleared them since Khan’s friend in present-time was already fudging his memories
►With all his memories returned, Khan realized how much he’d been lied to and who he had hurt. He went on a rampage where he was dropped off (middle of nowhere- either in the Coastlands or the Highlands, but far away from people) and then passed out. When he woke up he wandered, occasionally having another fit of rage. When he discovered signs of human settlement he intentionally avoided them, not feeling like slaughtering a bunch of people (didn’t realize he was yeeted to the past yet)
►It took him a couple weeks to run across humans. He tried to approach them friendly like but they spotted his horns & fangs and ran in the other direction. Which kinda sucked, ‘cause Khan had questions, but also they dropped food and he was hungry so. Win some, lose some!
►Eventually realized he wasn’t welcome in any human settlement due to his obvious pokemon traits- namely the horns, but also the fangs. After some debate with himself he decided to break off his horns. He was dealing with some severe hunger and his clothes were getting raggedy af. Breaking off his horns was surprisingly upsetting for him and he ended up having a breakdown once they were off his head. He tied them together with some twine and held onto them.
►Ran into some Ginkgo Guild members who were willing to trade with him after he hid the remains of his horns as his hair wasn’t grown out yet. He got a fresh set of clothes from them in exchange for some materials he’d collected. He noticed that they eyed his broken-off horns and tucked them away.
►Eventually made it into Jubilife, got a new set of clothes, and left. He traveled around a bit, getting the hang of Hisui, before returning to Jubilife with goods for the merchants. Was in and out a fair bit to get people used to him. Noticed the younger survey members and was struck by how much they reminded him of his siblings.
►At one point he overheard a Jubilife resident begging a survey corps member to retrieve her son’s remains. The survey corps member had to refuse and Khan stepped up instead. After retrieving the body he began to be approached by people looking to recover the bodies of their loved ones, or some lost belongings, or simply specific items that other people couldn’t get due to location or pokemon proximity. As long as they don’t ask questions to how he recovers the items or bodies, it’s all good.
►Vaguely recognizes Ingo. He never interacted with him personally but he was aware that he was missing before Khan was yeeted back. Ingo’s one of the people Khan keeps an eye on, supposedly because if Ingo finds a way back that means Khan should find a way back too... right? Not at all because Ingo’s a very slight memory of home and something that Khan wants to hold onto. As Khan accidentally bonded with Lady Sneasler as a friend, he sees a fair bit of Ingo and is surprisingly polite to the Warden.
►Is protective over Akari and Rei. He sees them as his younger siblings and is fully willing to put himself in the line of fire for them. The first time he actually met them was when he saw them being mobbed by a mass outbreak of pokemon in the field. He literally fist-fought the outbreak while they used their pokemon and then said he was just that badass when they asked him how he did it. He doesn’t mention the fact they’re like siblings to him to anyone, lest someone try to take advantage of it.
►Khan doesn’t really have a pokemon ‘team’ per se, but he does have a group of pokemon that he accidentally collected. He protects them and they protect him. His first was a shiny Chansey he calls Nana after his friend. He rescued a Porygon in a space-time rift and accidentally adopted it, and then accidentally evolved it. He calls it Duck. The last part of his ‘team’ is a Hisuian Growlithe that he stumbled across while it mourned its partner. Empathy ain’t a big thing for Khan, but the Growlithe that had died was a shiny and again reminded him of Nana. He helped the Growlithe bury it’s partner and it decided to take up with him afterwards. They all provide help with his recovery work in some way or another, as well as providing companionship. He accidentally bonded with Lady Sneasler over gossip and climbing- she’s willing to help him out when there are cliffs he can’t climb. He doesn’t speak her language but he gets the gist.
►Khan doesn’t reside in any settlements. He’s figured out how they feel about zorua and zoroark and has no desire to be accidentally found out as part pokemon himself as he knows the fallout will be bad on all accounts. He’ll take jobs when he goes into town or either of the settlements, but he always leaves in order to sleep.
►Thinks Giratina has a point tbh. Finds Volo sketchy, but finds most of the Ginkgo Guild sketchy. Is scared of Lady Cogita. Bullies Melli because he thinks it’s funny to watch him get flustered and try to talk himself up.
►Actively seeks out alpha pokemon for fights when he notices his aggression getting higher. Hasn’t yet revealed his own pokemon nature to anyone. Can use a handful of moves that both Hydreigon and Houdoom can use, but doing so results in extreme fatigue and leaves him in pain after. He still does it because he enjoys fighting too much.
