yessss i do have playlists for my self ships!!! the jariel one is much much much more prominent than my other ones and i've only recently made my mermaidghost one but!!! they're literally everything to me!!!

there are some artists that are basically tone setters for the ships. for jariel it's taylor swift (act shocked everyone), technically her music is so versatile and explores so many themes that it's is in literally all my playlists but. i dedicate almost all her songs (especially the reputation and lover album) to jason. i think just outside of selfshipping i relate to a lot of her lyrics and i find that a lot of them could apply to jason too. likeeeee listen to the evermore album and tell me you don't think of him. literally. also she's just my favourite artist and white woman of all time, jason is my favourite fic character and white man of all time, the correlation is obvious. another artist i think makes peak jariel songs is sabrina carpenter. idk something about them blue eyed blondies and their love songs just tick all the jariel criteria.

i'm gonna cheat a little bit and give you my top 3 taylor jariel songs, then some random songs.

for taylor:

this is not just my favourite taylor song but also just my favourite song ever ever ever ever. i could go on and on about how important to me and artistically perfect it is but to to keep it short it literally embodies the very essence of jariel. it just paints a sweet and beautiful picture of love all while still being self aware of your character and how secure you feel in this relationship that you don't care what anyone has to say about it. the way the melody just blends so well with the lyrics and makes the meaning stand out even more. it's just such a comfort song that i dedicate to jason because he's my everything <3

this song is pretty self explanatory. like. idk you can just listen to it and figure out why it's so jariel. we just started it off with pissing each other so much but in reality we were just fighting the underlying feelings we had for each other. and it's infuriating. the bridge was literally inspired by us i know it taylor told me.

this song takes a deeper dive on the struggles we both went through before finally making it out and realizing that maybe we should give this a chance lol (we were meant to be together). this song is literally gorjus and it kind of describes our headspace and entourage instead of just focusing on our little selves.

so i’m driving to campus to get to my test but they’ve been having roadwork on the road to get to the parking lot i always park in—which is closest to my building, but they closed OFF that road :,) so then i was like ok !! no matter !! i’ll go this other way !!

they literally closed off the only 3 routes i knew to this building / parking and i was sitting there like🧍🏽‍♀️🥲 MY TEST IS IN FIVE MINS :,) and it was throwing everyone off because they were like making u turns and pulling into random parking spaces and stuff so i did the same thing and i was like ok time to whip out my handy dandy map and find some alternative route to this parking lot WHEN THERE WAS THIS KNOCK ON MY WINDOW

he's known cam (1st ovr pick yannooooo) since high school (after moving away from canada...but that's a whole thing i don't even wanna get into that) and when they got drafted to the same team cam was more enthralled by it than duane but hey he'll have to live w that now. no eli manning shenanigans you are STAYING THERE

n e ways he played for the panthers for a couple seasons and he was always in the top 10 rb conversations (from 2012 onwards bc the only thing people remember him for in 2011 is getting batista bombed by jj watt). he won opoy in 2014 for the first time and repeated in 2015. yk what also happened in 2015.

i'll take away first that he's shrunk a bit (6'10 is ENOUGH, jfc) and he's an edge rusher now which means he's the biggest menace to society the world has ever seen. he was drafted by the colts in the 6th round after a solid college season (UNDERDOG STORY RAAAAHHHHH) but they traded his ass to baltimore (eheh. hey) after an...interesting 2021 season. let me explain por favor

basically, he was tackled pretty fucking hard at one point (however hard you can hit a 6'10 dude who's built like a fucking wardrobe) and hit the ground awkwardly. @ the beginning he thought it was just a concussion and bc it was right ahead of bye week, he came back the next game. in THAT game tho he collapsed on the field and when they did a scan on his ass they found that a blood vessel exploded in his brain which caused intracranial hematoma (inner bleeding in the brain for all you non googlers). my man basically died for a second and he didn't play another game afterwards, but in 2022 he came back w a vengeance and he made joe burrow's life HELL in week 5 (and the wildcard game)

i don't know why i went THAT hard on cole's injury i just thought that i was coddling these men too hard and needed one of them to SUFFER. i mean duane already did for the duration of the 2018 season but i needed PHYSICAL SUFFERING i needed there to be BLOOD.

     Newt knew some people reacted strangely to the animals at his zoo. A harried reptile house keeper looked horrified when a child climbed into a locked snake exhibit, there were reports of one man performing a heartfelt rendition of "Hakuna Matata" to a family of prairie dogs. Now Newt was witnessing someone's mental breakdown in front of the echidna exhibit at two in the morning. He had just wanted to check in on everyone for the night...

     "Just gimme those back so I can cuddle the stripey-meows." The well-dressed and quite drunk man cried. Newt blinked slowly, not sure where to start with that. The man sighed and rested his head against Cooper's information plaque. Newt had had issues with Cooper picking up soda tabs, keys, and once a visitor's camera--the little kleptomanic kept wriggling through the busted hinge on his door. That really should be fixed, but first he needed to pay the bills. Then Frank's vet bills, Petunia needed to be vaccinated, the tiger's tire needed replacing...Newt frowned as the list kept growing. He loved his job and the creatures were all precious to him down to the dung beetles, but they just didn't have enough money to cover everything.

     "Hah, gotcha!" The triumphant cry broke Newt out of his tailspin and he rushed to the exhibit. The man was hunched over, fingers working on the small lumpy form on his lap.

     "Unhand him at once!" The man jumped and Cooper slid down his lap, scurrying up Newt's blue lab coat to hide in a wide pocket. A shiny ring of keys fell off his spines and landed by Newt's shoe. He carefully bent over to pick them up, only to clunk his head against the intruder's. Blinking the stars out of hus eyes, Newt felt his anger rising. How dare this man break in and start accosting his puggle! Cooper was a bit of an imp but he was a sweetheart! 

     "Yer pre'y." The man slurred dreamily. "But I wanna go see the tiggers." He lurched to his feet and began stumbling towards the big cat section. Newt got over his brief embarrassment, remembering his initial purpose here.

     "H-hold right there," he demanded. The man looked around before turning and pointing at himself. As if there was anyone else here! Newt frowned, Momma instincts rising. "You have no business wandering about here and scaring my poor babies out of their minds. Now leave at once or I shall call the authorities." They stared at one another before the intruder broke the silence.

     "Yer nah juss pretty, yer gorjus!" he beamed. The alcohol was clearly taking over his system. He swayed dangerously but still tried to take a step forward. It was almost comical, a man falling flat on his face like that, but Newt was a bit too frazzled to appreciate it. Cooper peeked out of his pocket and began niffling about for treats. Growls picked up, sending the echidna back into its pouch.

     "Oh my." Newt gasped as he realized the sounds of a rhinoceros with congestion were actually snores from the man in front of him. He could just leave him here, but no telling what trouble he'd get into when he woke again. Biting his lip, Newt weighed his options. He could probably lift the man into one of the staff carts and dump him in the break room. 

     The keys fell again when the stranger was moved and Newt realized they weren't keys, rather a set of lock picks. He glared down at the unconscious brute hanging off his shoulder and wondered what on earth he had been planning. Perhaps he was dumped in the break room a bit too roughly, but given the hangover in store for him later, Newt doubted the man would notice. Humming cheerfully he made sure to open the curtains by his guest before going back to his research notes. At least one of them would appreciate the bright morning sun streaming in.
