Self-induced burnout. Is it ambition or pure stupidity?
In my post about remote work, I mentioned that there was a period in my life when I used to work, study, freelance, and do an internship full-time all at once. During Covid, too.
Even though this was easily the most packed period in my life, it certainly wasn’t the only one.
For years, I was drowning in my obsession with always doing more, knowing more, and being more. I used to work…

Creative Tip: "Keep it Simple, Stupid," the Importance of Personal Convenience
Lemme give you a piece of advice: no one cares how much effort you put into something, if it's not "good enough" nor "appealing enough" for their personal standards. So, if putting in the most tediously high quality effort doesn't really do squat, make things easier on yourself!
Is a character's design cool, but too much of a pain for you to constantly draw and all? Well, that "cool design" probably won't put your character on the map, but making enough and easier content of them would.
Is it a pain to draw images for your stories you post online? Well, they do say visuals can be eye-catching, but people probably aren't going to give much mind to your writing because it's "too original" (not based on something already with an audience) or they'll avoid something they don't like the written content/style of. So, just keep it to text. I mean, Harry Potter and the Fazbear Fright series seemed to do fine enough as just written words.
Over all, please don't stress yourself to where creation isn't fun any more. Sometimes, higher effort and quality just won't be appreciated; but that's okay, it just means you can make things at your own convenience-- your choice on colored/B+W, your choice on how "animated" your videos/gifs are and so on!
Remember: the best way to make your work noticed is to make too much and spread it too far around (ex: multiple social media accounts) for it to possibly be ignored, and you can't do that if it's too stressful and tedious to make content.

Finally in a job I find emotionally rewarding and morally align with, but it requires 99% of my emotional energy to maintain, so I essentially disintegrate into a pile of human dust the moment I log off. Hobbies? Special interests? Don’t know her. Friendships and social connections? The heart wants to salvage those, but the flesh is… heckin tired, bruh.

#4.1 Lost & found
Grace was exhausted, but sleep still didn't come easy. It was his first night on the second floor, and it had been about a week since he last had Khun by his side.
Wearing Khun's clothes helped to trick his mind, but it could only do so much to ease his anxiety.
Grace summoned his pocket and dialed Khun's number, as he had done for the past nights. It rang a few times, and Grace braced himself for another missed call.
He shot up from his bed when he heard a familiar voice call his name.
"...Bam?"
"Oh my goodness!" Grace clutched his pocket in disbelief, "Khun!"
"Bam!" Grace could hear a choked sound from the other end, and Khun's voice had gone a little wet. "Oh, Bam, you're here, thank God. I thought–"
I thought I would never see you again. Grace completed the sentence in his mind.
"I found you," Grace whispered. His eyes stung with unshed tears, and the heavy weight in his heart finally lifted. "I finally found you."
"You found me."
There was an unmistakable smile and fondness on Khun's voice, and Grace let himself smile back. "I miss you."
"I miss you too," Khun whispered very softly, as if they were sharing a secret. It wasn't something he said often, after all. "I hope I can finally sleep better tonight. There’s a lot we need to discuss, but I'll save that for tomorrow."
Grace heard a yawn and caught himself doing the same. They wished each other goodnight and fell asleep with their call still connected.

Having demand avoidance in a medical setting is literally hell. Like, patient autonomy is already absolute ass. It's only made worse when doctors CONSISTENTLY tell you what to do and act like you HAVE to do it instead of consulting with you first like normal fucking people.

Building Habits for Language Learning
Possibly the most important thing you can do when looking to learn a language, is to carve it into your daily schedule. Once you make a habit out of it, the discipline which you have created for yourself will help carry you through the advanced stages of this language.
In this video I discuss my goals I set for myself in 2023 and how I will accomplish them.
As a follow up, I have created this January Recap in which I talk about my progress so far and how I build these habits while maintaining a full work-week.
specifically, I discuss:
- setting reasonable goals
- obtaining some while putting others on the back-burner
- burnout and how to avoid it
- what it means to be productive
- SPECIAL BONUS; what we can learn from the French 32-hour work-week
I hope it is helpful!

Providing transparency and honesty is indeed an important strategy for addressing employee burnout. When employees feel that they have access to open and honest communication from their organization, it can contribute to a healthier work environment and help alleviate burnout.

I thought this was a very well-rounded episode with the writing, directing and editing. This felt like a true ensemble episode that gave both excellent group and individual scenes.
The pacing was great. It gave necessary space to each character to tell their story. Yet nothing felt dragged or rushed. It allowed the actors to showcase their acting chops, including their voice acting - in a clever way to show the intensity with the budget they have. (Which I personally prefer to the unrealistic disaster scenes.)
To me, those who made it happen, really know and love the characters. They respected the audience, esp. with the visual storytelling. The shots were creative and the close-up really showed the characters' POVs. Whatever convoluted and shoehorned plot points that brought them here, the scenarios felt true to characters.
For the team, it was a sort of a mid-season check-in and "day in the lives of", as they adjust to the new captain and new mayor. I love the structure that began with the flash forward of the climax (Andy's crisis) and ended with the resolution (Andy feeling she failed Pruitt's legacy). The episode fully captured the physical and emotional toll on the firefighters. Even with all the fighting, 19 felt like a team.
I love that the music was used to complement the aftermath of the climatic scene, to reflect on the mental states of the team members. Not during, and not to do the heavy lifting in an action montage.
Everyone else also had their moment of reflection or challenge, when they are forced to face the truth and make a difficult decision or remain in denial and fall back on their usual coping mechanisms.
The Marina scenes felt so them. They are so very married. How they fight and communicate evolved, showing their growth. I love how Stefania captured both the idiosyncrasies b/w Danielle n her, and Carina n Maya. The humor was on point.
Even with the darker scenes, this episode felt like a love letter, to the show, to the characters and to the fans. It exuded a warmth, like Stefania.
