#squat like a #king Feels so wonderful to workout after a 5 month layoff. Squats is one exercise that is close to my heart and find a speal place in every sports persons heart. When i started getting back to the grind, thought i would share a couple of tips with you guys. We all know how to do a squat. I have told in my earlier posts that you move your hips to enable the bending of knee to squat and you dont start a squat by bending the knee. We all have this fear of not able to get up after squatting deep. Thats one reason why people fear heavy squats. I help my clients break through the barrier by making sure of two points 1. Squat full depth (ass to grass) 2. Make sure you pause for a second at the bottom. By incorporating this you not only kill the fear of squats, but also get much stronger than the regular squats. 🍑 How to Squat🍑 . . Some of the instructors leading these workouts don't have the best form👀 when they're teaching the basics so here's a tip to make sure your squat form is on point! . . Squats in proper form + resistance = fuller quads, thighs and glutes🍑🍑!💜💜🔥🔥🔥 - Form: Your knees should NOT go over your toes, push your butt back (like you're trying to avoid sitting on that nasty toilet) and low as possible (ATG..assets to the grass!) with your chest up. Think "L" shape / Movement: Sit back slowly with a 3-2 tempo (down on a count of 3 and back up on a count of 2) and squeeze your glutes. at the top....repeat! 🍑Build those glutes with deadlifts, good mornings & hip thrusts using resistance/weights so use barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, etc. . . But they don’t have to be. How to Squat ? **Preparation** From rack with barbell at upper chest height, position bar high on back of shoulders and grasp barbell to sides. Dismount bar from rack and stand with shoulder width stance. **Execution** Squat down by bending hips back while allowing knees to bend forward, keeping back straight and knees pointed same direction as feet. Descend until thighs are just past parallel to floor. Extend knees and hips until legs are straight. Return and repeat. **Tips to do it right** Always remember - the knee moves in the direction of the toes. So if you watch this alignment, your knee will never hurt Squat with your hips - People believe that bending of knee is the key action of squat, but moving the hip enables the knee to bend during the squat. Get the logic right and your squat will be perfect soon. Want to improve your squats? Try some Controlled Tempo Squats. - 🏋️‍♀️Normally, if you want to squat heavy, it’s a fast movement. You should go as fast as you can while maintaining tightness and without losing position. - Sometimes you might have issues with balance, tightness, positioning, depth etc. 👉All of these can be corrected by slowing down the movement. - Benefits of Tempo Squats: ✅Instant improvement in technique ✅Better Balance ✅Improved tightness ✅Find your strongest position ✅Improved depth ✅More time under tension ✅Makes the squat harder without going too heavy ✅Increased confidence - In this video, I’m doing 2-0-2 tempo squats. 👉2 count on the way down 👉0 pause 👉2 count on the way up - I don’t recommend this as being your primary squat style but it can be a good addition to your training program. What’s a good squat? . ALLL! I love squatting! Well, here’s a few variations for you! Target different muscles with movement of your feet! . What’s a good squat? Tight, back slightly arched, chest up, elbows under the bar, upper back tight, belly full of air, load your hips and keep knees tracking in line with the angles. . Keep a close eye on your knees! Some forward movement is okay, but should never exceed mid-foot and your knees shouldn’t drift in, unless you want to blow out your ACL. . When your knee moves forward, it lengthens the distance to hit parallel. .
