Takarazuka Reuve Flower Troupe Top Musumeyaku Hoshikaze Madoka says goodbye in the home base, "I love Yuzuka-san and also everyone!"
(Source from Daily Sports Entertainment)
Takarazuka Revue Flower Troupe Top Star Yuzuka Rei will be graduating from Takarazuka Revue on May 26, and she performed with Top Musumeyaku Hoshikaze Madoka on the closing performance of their graduation performance "Arc en ciel~The Rainbow Over Paris" on 24 March, saying goodbye at the home base.
Yuzuka came down the grand staircase in the formal otokoyaku costume which is the black tails, and said, "In these 15 years, I just kept on running. It was a journey that I devoted all of my youth to."
As Cosmos Troupe Top Musumeyaku, she partnered with Makaze Suzuho and later transferred to Flower Troupe to be with Yuzuka as the Golden Combi. She delivered the following speech,
"10 years ago in this place, my life as a stage performer started here. Makaze-san and Cosmos Troupe members taught me the foundations from the very beginning. And later, meeting with Yuzuka-san is my most cherished treasure. Whenever the time, she'd never let go of my hand, and she always shines so brightly. I am full of gratitude. I am so happy to graduate together with Yuzuka-san." Later when the two appear on stage again, she shouted, "I love Yuzuka-san and also everyone!"
Another popular star is Hozumi Mahiro who is also graduating. She said, "I believe that as long as Takarazuka continues, this will be a place where I can return to my roots."
The Tokyo Takarazuka Theatre performances are from April 14-May 26.

#endofyearzukatag2022: Day 4
4. Mon Paris: Did you discover a new fav show that was not from this year?
Tumblr media
(Kazune Miou as Shunkin and Sagiri Seina as Sasuke in a promotional banner for Soragumi’s 2008 production of Complete Devotion.)
This is going to sound like cheating because it was restaged this year, but hear me out: Complete Devotion (hereafter Junjou, the romanization of its title by which the show is usually referred to) as a whole, instead as of a discrete performance.
Junjou is not Takarazuka’s first effort at adapting Tanizaki Jun'ichirō’s famous novella A Portrait of Shunkin—that would be Yukigumi’s 1982 Grand Theater production Limitless Love, starring Daichi Mao—but, at this point, it’s the canonical Takarazuka take on the tale. Originally conceived as a Bow Hall lead for Emao Yuu in 1995 (and restaged for her Top Star debut in 2002), it became a switch cast Bow Hall lead in 2008 for Sagiri Seina and Hasumi Yuuya, and again in 2022 for Hozumi Mahiro and Ichinose Kouki.
After the 2022 production was announced, I picked up Seven Japanese Tales, a collection of seven Tanizaki works translated by Howard Hibbett in the 1960s that includes A Portrait of Shunkin. I knew that the novella wasn’t going to be as romantic as its adaptations, like the 1976 film adaptation, but I was quite taken nonetheless. (Though I do think there is something unspeakably romantic about the blind Sasuke and Shunkin enjoying birdsong in their garden in their middle age.) I’ve always enjoyed stories attempting to piece together the truth through conflicting resources and viewpoints. A story about a sadistic musician and her devoted servant slash lover framed by a historian trying to piece together the truth about their history and their relationship was right up my alley.
And the Takarazuka version takes that theme of interpretation and runs with it. The modern characters in the framing device wonder: what do we make of Shunkin and Sasuke’s story and what do we take away from it? Is it a story of a sadomasochistic relationship? Is it a tragic romance? Is it somewhere inbetween? These are questions not only for the audience, but for every character in the show. Every character has their own interpretation of Sasuke and Shunkin’s relationship—Shunkin’s exceedingly patient parents are confused by Shunkin’s refusal to marry Sasuke as things progress, while the besotted Ritarou sees Sasuke as an obstacle instead of a rival—and, cleverly, every cast has its own interpretation, rendering the switch cast an extension of the theme rather than a logistical concern. I was blown away by how different the story felt in each version, solely by playing the same script differently. That dynamic tension between different readings makes the show feel so electric, on top of how intricately and well put together the show is. I absolutely fell in love with it. If it’s ever restaged again, especially in a switch cast configuration, I will be delighted.

Did Some Top Hat Sketches! Tho it was more Horace x Madge tbh (Oto K TT^TT) Idk why but Maiti and Oto K made their relationship a lot cuter than the 2015 version. Also, Beddini ❤️

Currently Watching - May
Because I love a good little list - in alphabetical order! 😊
Regularly updated during the month, latest update 30.05.2023
Here you can find my weekly roundup that goes into a bit more detail about each episode.
And a little link to my favorite bl-tropes-collection 💙
This may contain spoilers!
1. Be My Favorite (1/10 on Youtube)
Well...It had some funny parts, but right now I can't imagine how Kawi and Pisaeng get together...I mean Kawi is so head over heels for the girl...But as I said, there are some really funny moments and I had a good laugh.
2. Bokura no Shokutaku aka Our Dining Table (8/10 on Gaga)
Hozumi Yutaka likes to cook and is good at it, but he can't eat infront of other people. Meeting Tane and his older brother Ueda Minoru his life seems to change and he may finally have found what his body and soul were longing for. A true comfort watch right now.
3. La Pluie (5/12 on iQiyi)
Saengtai goes deaf whenever it rains. The only voice he can hear in his head is his soulmate's one. But he refuses to answer it, because Tai doesn't believe in things like love or soulmates. That is until he meets his soulmate for the first time. It is surprisingly good and I am looking forward to this one.
4. My Story (7/10 on Youtube)
Every now and than I like to watch a pinoy-bl. The first episode was a mess and a bit boring, but I have a strong second-lead-syndrome! I love the secondary couple and they just slept together in one bed, but that was so cute! Looking forward to the next episodes!
5. Our Skyy 2 (12/16 on Youtube)
Can I be honest? This isn't my cup of tea...I still watch it, because I hope the next episodes are better, especially the ones I am hoping for (MSP + ATOTS). But most of the dialogues are cringy and cheesy and the stories are...weird or boring. MSP was really good though.
6. Sparks Camp (1/? on Youtube)
Philippines's first gay dating reality show! And it's giving you everything you're looking for! Well at least a bunch of cute and cringy moments! And I am sold!
7. Step by Step (6/10 on Gaga)
Employee meets boss without knowing who he has met and crushes hard on him, just tells him what everyone thinks about the new boss and is just adorably clumsy infront of him. I adore the friend group! I hope we get to see them support Pat a lot. The second episode...difficult for me.
8. The Day I Loved You (9/10 on Youtube)
Go watch this! It is such a good show! So great. I love it so much. I was hit by tthis series with a sledgehammer. Not just how good the production is or the acting, but the theme and plot. Damn! So good. And I can relate to this a little bit too much, but I still love it. Just watch it!
9. The Luminous Solution (1/6 on Gaga)
Every wish comes with a price...We meet Thana and Patis, a couple of over a decade. While Thana tries to holds closeness to his partner, Patis is working non stop at the hospital and doesn't see, that his partner is suffering. And now Thana lost his job and his mother is in depth. One evening he enters a very special café, which only shows itsself to people who are in deep need for a wish. But can you pay the price? As a second couple we meet Mai and Ryou, who become enemies on the first day of school and who will have some obstacles to overcome to be together. And there is Ryous best friend, I guess he has a huge crush on Ryou. How they will end up in the café? I don't know, but I am intrigued.
10. Zenra Meshi aka Naked Dining - Love, Life and Liberation (7/12 on Gaga)
Everybody has their own way to release stress. Ichijo Futa eats naked. When he goes to his dead grandmother's house, he meets Miki Mahiro, who finds out about his eating preference. I guess it is a series about understanding what is really important in life.
Finished in May
Series
Tin Tem Jai (on Gaga)
They say if you don't have anything nice to say, just keep your mouth shut…That's my motto about the series. I really didn't like it that much. 2 out of 10 for me
2. Happy Merry Ending (8/8 on Gaga)
As often with korean bls, this one was soooo short! Just 15 minutes per episode. But it was a good. We meet SeungJun and JaeHyun and when they meet there is not a question left that those two like each other. A wedding singer and a pianist. A wedding singer with social anxienty and trauma. I really enjoyed this drama. A good 9 out of 10 for me.
3. A Boss and A Babe (12/12 on Youtube)
I wasn't a big fan of ForceBook after watching Enchanté, but I think it works in this drama. Cher is getting an internship at a gaming company. In his free time he runs an ASMR channel and the boss is a big fan of his voice (a thing I can't understand) and they start talking in the evenings so Gun, the boss, can finally manage to fall asleep. And then they can start to fall for each other. Most of the times I liked this drama, but it has some flaws. So a solid 7,5 out of 10 for me.
4. My Esports Genius Brother (12/12 on Gaga)
Jiang YiFeng can't feel physical touch, emotions or anything else, he can't taste and he doesn't see colors, which makes him super focused and an exellent gamer. That is until he meets Lu Lin, an idol with too much of everything, especially the potential of becoming violent. YiFeng helps him to calm down and thanks to Lu Lin YiFeng can see colors, taste food and experience the whole palette of emotions. A romance blossoms between these two against all odds and even though it is a chinese censored drama with some almost kisses (the scenes were horrible cut) and a sweet confession scene, we can feel the attraction between these two. I really liked. Just wished it would be a little bit longer! 5 minutes per episode was just a little bit short. But nevertheless sweet. 7,5 out of 10 for me.
5. The Promise (10/10 on WeTV + Youtube)
Okay, I loved it in the beginning. I thought it was a really good drama. But after a while it got repetetive and boring. I wished Nan just got together with Party, because Phu just could get his head out of his own ass. I was really angry at him at times. And there was so much unnecessary drama, especially in the last two episodes. It was just too much. Just a 6,5 out of 10 for me in the end.
6. Watashi to Otto to Otto no Kareshi aka Me, My Husband And My Husband's Boyfriend (4/10 on gaga)
Misaki is married to Yuuki. She nows something is off, because he doesn't really have interest in getting sexual with her. On the day before their wedding anniversary she sees him kissing a man infront of their home. It is her former student Shyuuhei, who also has a crush on her. Now they have to find a way to deal with everything. And their solution...I don't really get in the end. It is kind of an open ending, which is totally fine, but the resolution with Misaki being okay with the situation was kind of rushed? Just a 6,5 out of 10 for me.
7. Love Mate (6/8 on Gaga and Viki)
I am in love with the grumpy-I-don't-believe-in-love-guy and the sunshine-I-fell-in-love-with-you-at-first-sight-guy. The butterflies went wild in my stomach and my heart got all fluffy. Over all a 10 out of 10 for me!
Short Film
At The Moment (on Gaga)
In a not so far away future people can freely choose, which gender they identify as. They have the chance to change their gender once in their lifetime, so they must make the right decision. Of course, there are programs and surveys which will support you on your journey to the right decision. But what is the right decision? What if you were born male and you identify as a male, but you like feminine things and fall in love with another young man, but everyone around you tells you to change into a woman, because it is the most logical next step? We accompany Yi An, on the edge of seventeen and in love with his classmate Zhou Yang Kai, on his way to find out what exactly he is. His best friend, identifying as male and in love with Yi An, wants to help him getting comfortable with the idea of being a girl. But Yi An questions everything around the idea of gender swap and his own sexuality and in the end it is about self-love and to accept the fact who you are and who you love. It is an interesting short movie about the question what attraction, sex and gender is and if it does have to do with gender preferences or sex. A 9 out of 10 for me.
2. Gaze in Silence (on Gaga)
This should be named Obsession. Everyone in this was obsessed. The first one with sex, another one with the thought of becoming the first person's boyfriend and the last one was just obsessed with the first one. A story about a very active young man who likes to have sex with different partners and who is not looking for a relationship. One of his sex-partners wants to become his boyfriend and the situation escalated. But lucky number one has a stalker who films him during his sex-sessions and who now rescues him from the hands of the evil wanna-b-boyfriend. And they have sex while the wanna-b is lying next to them...tied up. A very strange ending, but not bad. A very quiet short film with a lot to say in the end. I liked the way it was shot and that there were no real conversations. 7,5 out of 10 for me.
3. May you stay, forever young (on Gaga)
If you expect there to be much romance or love here, you are mistaken. This was a very depressing and hard to watch film. You could literally feel the emptiness in our main character. It oozed outward from his core. Only the family couldn't see it. First and foremost, the mother. Francis grows up sheltered and is supposed to concentrate on his lessons and especially his piano playing. At least that's what his parents want him to do. He, on the other hand, wants to spend time with his friend Tommy and even secretly starts working a part-time job in the restaurant where Tommy works. The relationship of the two is never clearly defined. What is certain is that Francis likes Tommy. Whether those feelings are reciprocated, I don't really know. And in the end, Francis breaks down and the parents stand helplessly around him, not knowing how to deal with him. And then the movie ends and you're about as helpless as the parents, because we don't know what's going to happen next in Francis' life. But that's what I really want to know! Over all a solid 8 out of 10 for me.
4. So refreshed (on Gaga)
Kim and Choi are two gay friends. Kim likes Choi, but Kim is not Choi's type. So Kim suffers in silence until one night Choi decides to book a middle-aged masseur with a light belly for company. While Kim is out to get the money, Choi has fun with the, in the end, really homophobic masseur. Kim and Choi fight and when Kim is home alone again, he watches the video of Choi and the masseur, he secretly took with his watch, and jerks of...so refreshed! It was really disturbing and disgusting to watch. A 5 out of 10 for me.
5. Old Narcissus (on Gaga)
A story about aging and the struggle with it. A story about beauty and its transience. A story about acceptance and the fact you should really not trust strangers, you don't know shit about! That was one stupid choice you made writer! The moth never would! Still a 7 out of 10 for me.
Movie
Dropped/On-Hold in May
House of Stars
Dropped at episode 3. I really don't like this one. I don't like the acting not the story. It is boring and confusing and just overall not good, in my opinion.
Looking forward to in May
House of Stars (May 1st on iQiyi)
Love Mate (May 4th on Gaga)
Star Struck (May 18th)
Be my favorite (May 26th on Youtube)
The Luminous Solution (May 27th on Youtube and Gaga)
Tie The Not (May 27th on Youtube)
Takumi-kun Series 6: Nagai Nagai (May 27th cinema release, no international release for now)

I’m making my small collection a little smaller again by putting these few precious items on sale. I hope they’d find a good somebody who could give them at least a little bit more love than I am able to give them at the moment.

Quick Updates
I haven’t been posting updates, have I?
I do love writing these posts though lol
- I’ve updated the subs for Caleb Hunt and Buenos Aires (the BD version), so if you haven’t watched them yet, make sure to have the latest. (I’m almost always too lazy for revising after posting, but I do try to do it sometimes lol)
- I’ve finished the subs for Outen no Mon (thank you a lot the two kind souls who shared their file and script!), but I do tend to take my time to do the final revision... you can just ask me the unrevised version if you can’t wait to watch it!
- We’re collabing with Hibiscus for the subs of Junjou from last year, we’ll be doing both Hozumi Mahiro’s and Ichinose Kouki’s versions.
- The plan is to work on Rain on Neptune, crossing fingers to get the closed caption but I might just do it by ear if that’s not possible
Life has been hard and I have no idea of anything anymore, so it’s been wonderful to just submerge in subbing. Thank you everyone for the material you’ve been sharing.

¥☾☁
¥: If you could design one piece of Takarazuka merchandise, what would you make? What’s your favorite piece of merchandise (not inc. VHS/DVDs/BDs/CDs) in your own collection? What item is currently at the top of your “to buy” list?
1. Uhh god I’ve never really considered this one. Uhmmmm. Maybe bento boxes? That would be cute I? think?
2. Hhhhmmm... Favourite piece of official merchandise is definitely Mirio’s earlier design hand towel, I honestly love that abstract flower pattern.
3. If we’re not counting  DVDs or photobooks I uh... have nothing at the top of my to buy list? But if we include those then it’s DEFINITELY Sekkashou/Golden Desert Bluray.
☾: Do you prefer otokoyaku fashion or musumeyaku fashion? If you could put any five otokoyaku in a boy band together, who would you choose? Who are your three favorite musumeyaku?
1. Musumeyaku fashion oh my god have you SEEN them they FINE AS HELL. Otokoyaku, with the exception of some extraordinary cases like Arata Tokiya, usually take a while to find a proper, defined style, most just tend to get stuck in a limbo where they’re unsure whether to shop in the men’s section or wear the most “manly” items they find in the women’s section so they just mix stuff up and sometimes disasters happen so. Ya.
2. TAKE THE MAIN HANA UNDERCLASSMEN (Ayaki Hikari, Yabuki Sena, Hiryuu Tsukasa, Aren Touma and Hozumi Mahiro) PUT THEM IN A BOY BAND AND CALL IT “HANA YORI DANGO” DO IT NOW GO.
3. In order, Sakihi Miyu, Maaya Kiho and Ousaki Ayaka
☁ : What’s your favorite solo? Which revue song always gets stuck in your head? What song do you skip?
1. Favourite solo as in, a song? Right now it’s without a doubt Fukushuu Koso Waga Koi from Golden Desert. That, and perhaps My Eyes from I Love Einstein (NOT OVER IT NEVER OVER IT) but it really changes quite often so.
2. TAKARAZUKA FANTASIA GODDAMMIT YOU EARWORM
3. What song do I skip where? If we’re talking revues I generally skip most oddly-out-of-place “spanish” numbers, they’re not my thing. If it’s in general I...tend to skip Berubara stuff that isn’t sung by anyone I care for that’s right I said it ok I SAID IT.

#endofyearzukatag2023
The wonderful @beccalendsahand is back at it with a third installment of the End of Year Takarazuka Tag, fittingly called the #endofyearzukatag2023. (I know it is past the end of the year, but I am declaring End of Year Amnesty until January 15th, so neener neener.) In previous years, I’ve done a cute answer a day post with photos throughout December, but, given the ongoing situation, I’m going to do a one-shot text post instead. Enjoy!
1. Sumire no Hana: Did you find a new favorite this year?
Asanoha Kotono forever. I was blown away by Kotono in Junjou last year as Shunkin, and I’ve only become more and more impressed by her. This year, she’s been breezily elegant as Countess Larisch in Utakata no Koi, gone toe-to-toe vocally with Kazumi Shou in Enchantement, been reunited with her Sasuke, Hozumi Mahiro, as workers at the antique shop in Singing Lovebirds, and pulled off one of the most stunning lifts I saw this year in Grand Mirage! (GT) with Yuki Daiya. (I swear to God, she just jumps at Daiya and then suddenly Daiya’s got her up in the air like a serving platter. Incredible teamwork.) And, of course, she got her shinjin kouen lead in Singing Lovebirds, where she is hilarious. Kotono is so talented, confident, and funny that she’s a joy to watch in even the smallest parts. With the departure of Haruhi Urara and Kaga Ririka in 2023, Hanagumi is lucky to have her.
2. Ai sore wa... : Tell us about your number one! What's been your favorite role of theirs this year?
Daiya’s had a great year, in my humble opinion, but her best role last year was hands-down Yoshijirou in Maihime (a role originated by Hanagata Hikaru, by the by, who I adore). Bold and brash ex-pat Yoshijirou gets an incredibly juicy death scene in Act 2 where, so ill he forgets German on his deathbed, he serves as a cautionary tale to protagonist Toyotarou about life in 1910s Berlin. And Daiya just destroys it. Yoshijirou, so painfully tender with regret, barely raises his voice above a whisper, but he absolutely commands the scene. I had hoped that Daiya would be cast as Yoshijirou specifically to see her take on this challenge, and to see her absolutely ace it was a joy.
3. Never Say Goodbye: Which taidansha was the hardest for you to say goodbye to this year?
Kazumi Shou. I tend to take taidan announcements in stride; sunrise, sunset, etc. But Kazumi Shou had settled so nicely into patrician roles (I absolutely knew who was going to play the loving, goofy father in Singing Lovebirds from the moment the show was announced) that I was taken aback by the announcement. But I think that goes to show one of the strangest aspects of taidan: sometimes, a big role you might see as the next step in their evolution is, to them, a triumphant cap on their time in Takarazuka.
(Watch this space next year for Hozumi Mahiro.)
4. Material Girl: Favorite piece of merch?
I got a desk calendar for the first time last year, just the desktop calendar with the prominent otokoyaku. I have gotten a few wall calendars in the past, but since I don’t have any real room for them on my walls, they get disassembled and put into a portfolio. But I had just enough space in a little tableau, right under a fake rosebush, and there it went. It’s been so nice to have some merchandise incorporated into my daily life for the first time.
5. Mon Paris: Did you discover a new favorite show that was not from this year?
Maihime! I honestly didn’t expect much of Maihime when it was announced as another Bow Hall lead for Seino Asuka. I’d never seen the original and somehow had assigned it a label of “I’m sure it’s fine.” But when I watched the original production to prepare for the new production, I was blown away. I’d read the short story, but the way Ueda Keiko adapted it to fit the Takarazuka house style turned it into a sweeping romantic tragedy.  I like the newer production a little better (there’s less vagueness about whether the pregnancy is all in Elise’s head or not, in a way that makes the end extra-heartbreaking), but it was a great lesson to not judge, even positively, until I sit down and watch something.
6. Wings of the Heart: Favorite fandom memory
The international Casino Royale livestream. It almost feels like a fever dream now, especially since I doubt we’re going to get any more international livestreams any time soon. But what a wonderful shock to the system.
7. The Final Dance (Saigo no Dansu): What was your favorite duedan of the year?
The duedan in Grand Mirage (Tour). There is a moment, sometimes, when you’re watching someone perform and you think, “Oh, she’s ready.” You don’t consider it, you don’t hope for it, you just see her and you know it. It doesn’t mean that what she’s ready for will come to pass, just that she has the chops for it, but it’s a magical moment all the same. When I saw Towaki Sea and Hoshizora Misaki dance, that’s what I saw. That they were ready.
(This is me superstitiously trying to bore holes into the back of the Hanagumi producer’s head with my eyes for a next top combi announcement; I hope it works!)
8. My Everlasting Dream: What show have you rewatched the most this year?
I have to admit, 2023 was a pretty poor rewatch year for me; a combination of technical difficulties, a rough end of year, and the ongoing situation. So we’ll have to go with Yukigumi’s Le Poison -Again-, because who am I to resist the power of Bad Power?
9. Fascinating Rhythm: What zuka song has been stuck in your head all year?
The title song from Grand Mirage. It just sounds so nice to sing...
10. Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend: What was your favorite costume(s) of the year?
All of Death’s costumes in Death Takes a Holiday. The original off-Broadway production was very stripped down; Death as man in a suit and a overcoat. It made sense for that production, but this is Takarazuka, and so Death is gorgeously kitted out. While the glittering prince of the underworld look in the finale is stunning, I really love the main Death look; the slightly monstrous birdlike design gives me a little Phantom of the Paradise. For a company often tasked with finding new, interesting visual takes on Death, this one felt really new and refreshing.
11. Cool Beast!!: what was the most ridiculous costume(s) your saw this year?
The otokoyaku costumes for “Siboney” in Grand Mirage are peak classic Takarazuka, the yacht rock version of ruffle hell. Throw a CRT filter on there and you can convince me it’s the eighties again. But here’s the thing: they are so fun. They look incredible in motion; in the Grand Theater, they seem to take up the entire stage. And that’s before the musumeyaku enter! They are ridiculous, but they’re exactly my kind of ridiculous.
12. Greatest Moment: A special moment on stage that stayed with you
While Hoshizora Misaki has spent much of this year being paired up with Towaki Sea (for, one hopes, excellent reasons), she did spend two years primarily being partnered with Minami Maito (Maitii), starting with 2021’s Gin-chan’s Love. Utakata no Koi, where they played lovers Archduke Johann Salvator and Milly Stubel, proved to be their last show together in Hanagumi, as Maitii transferred to Senka early last year.
There was a moment in the Utakata no Koi Tokyo raku livestream where Milly unexpectedly hugs Johann and he comforts her. It makes sense for the characters (it’s a heavy show), but it struck me as feeling like Hoshizora hugging Maitii goodbye.
Goodbye isn’t forever, of course; they immediately teamed up again for Maitii’s last dinner show in Hanagumi and I would be shocked if Maitii didn’t visit Hanagumi during her Senka tenure. But it was a lovely moment that’s stuck with me all the same.
13. Musical: What was your favorite musical (one act or two act or both you want!) of the year?
Death Takes a Holiday. I’d never heard of the musical before Takarazuka announced its production, and now, I’m afraid, I’ve gone completely feral over it. Post-World War I? An immortal being trying to comprehend humanity? A couple immediately and intensely obsessed with each other, to the horror of everyone else in their lives? Goofy comedy, sweeping romance, and heartbreaking tragedy in perfect balance? And that’s before Ikuta Hirokazu et al got their hands on it, applying a glamorous, romantic gloss to the proceedings, and before Tsukishiro Kanato and Umino Mitsuki brought their wonderful chemistry to bear on it. The finale in and of itself, with its dash of Beauty and the Beast, makes me blubber happy tears every time. It’s not only my favorite of the year, it might be in my Top Ten of All Time.
14. Revue: What was your favorite revue of the year?
Grand Mirage. The Grand Theater version slightly beats out the tour version for its inclusion of “Illusion,” a number with a strong song (accordions, synth, guitar, strings, bring it all on) and an even stronger look (monochrome power pattern clashing with neon yellow accents). It is exactly the kind of number that makes me remember why I fell in love with Takarazuka in the first place; absolute camp performed with absolute sincerity.

Currently Watching - April
I am back 😊
Because I love a good little list - in alphabetical order! 😊
Regularly updated during the month, latest update 27.04.2023
This may contain spoilers!
1. A Boss and A Babe (8/12 on Youtube)
I wasn't a big fan of ForceBook after watching Enchanté, but I really think it works in this drama. Cher is getting an internship at a gaming company. In his free time he runs an ASMR channel and the boss is a big fan of his voice (a thing I can't understand) and they start talking in the evenings so Gun, the boss, can finally manage to fall to sleep.
2. Bokura no Shokutaku aka Our Dining Table (4/10 on Gaga)
Hozumi Yutaka likes to cook and is good at it, but he can't eat infront of other people. Meeting Tane and his older brother Ueda Minoru his life seems to change and he may finally have found what his body and soul were longing for. A true comfort watch right now.
3. Happy Merry Ending (2/8 on Gaga)
As often with korean bls, this one is soooo short! Just 15 minutes per episode. But it was a good first epside. We meet SeungJun and JaeHyun and from the first moment we know that these two really find each other interesting. A wedding singer and a pianist. A wedding singer with social anxienty and trauma. I am invested!
4. My Story (2/10 on Youtube)
Every now and than I like to watch a pinoy-bl. The first episode was a mess and a bit boring, but I have a strong second-lead-syndrome! I love the secondary couple and they just slept together in one bed, but that was so cute! Looking forward to the next episodes!
5. Our Skyy 2 (2/16 on Youtube)
Can I be honest? The first story wasn't my thing. I enjoyed Never Let me Go, but this was not that good. Perhaps it was the time-travel-thing or some of the cringy dialogues...who knows. I am still looking forward to all the other episodes!
6. Step by Step (2/10 on Gaga)
Employee meets boss without knowing who he has met and crushes hard on him, just tells him what everyone thinks about the new boss and is just adorably clumsy infront of him. I like it a lot. I adore the friend group! I hope we get to see them support Pat a lot.
7. The Promise (7/10 on WeTV)
I like it. Are there cringy moments? Yes. Are there slapstick moments I can hardly deal with? Yes. Are there plotholes that bug me? Sure...but! I like it. I like Nan and Phu together and I love the slow burn and am I well entertained. I also enjoy little Party being the jealous king he is, who deeply care for Nan and if latter would choose him, i wouldn't be that angry!
8. Tin Tem Jai (8/10 on Gaga)
And we took 45 steps back and the show is kind of annoying like before...Park has no right to be this jealous...Just let Tin have a sweet first romance. You obviously can't give him what he needs or wants. Just let him date his senior...
And I am on board!
10. Zenra Meshi aka Naked Dining - Love, Life and Liberation (2/12 on Gaga)
Everybody has their own way to release stress. Ichijo Futa eats naked. When he goes to his dead grandmother's house, he meets Miki Mahiro, who finds out about his eating preference. I don't know what will happen in those 12 episodes, but it is funny.
Finished in April
Series
1. Unintentional Love Story
I love this one and I will watch it again. The story is good, the acting is good too and I really liked the chemistry of the characters. It felt real and yes, I don't care about the dead-fish-kisses. Do I like them? Nope, but it doesn't smaller my joy of watching the show. I guess I just like series in general which deal with artsy stuff like pottery or books. It has quite a good vibe and a good portion of angst. Highly appreciated and recommended. A solid 9,5 out of 10 for me.
2. Bed Friend
This was a hard watch sometimes. Not just because Uea's life was really hard and full of trauma, but because he overcame his problems because he was loved by another person. Love can heal everything. That is something I don't believe and I can't tolerate in my media. Love can definitely help you, but not heal you. Uea needs help and not just the D. But this is fiction, I get it. 6 out of 10 for me.
3. Chains of Heart
This is one of the most visually stunning shows so far. Really beautiful shots and scenery. Therefor I love it. The plot was confusing in the beginning, but later on it got clearer. Mr. Lue/Din and Ken were my favorites. I loved their scenes together, especially episode 9. But the ending...I had really hoped for at least one talk between those two. Ken can be angry at him and tell him, what he needed to tell and Din could just explain himself and his actions. But no...just an open end where it is implied that they see each other again at the 7th of the 7th month...still not very happy with this ending, but I can make my peace with it...soon, I guess. Still 8 out of 10 for me.
4. The Eighth Sense
Perfection. I have nothing more to say. For me, this was one of the best I have seen so far. I have a soft spot for gay surfer dramas, so me liking this wasn't that surprising for me. But it was a really good series and I will rewatch it soon and often! 10 out of 10.
5. Destiny Seeker
This one gave me so many good, nostalgic feelings! It is such a college bl, but with a twist. And the twist is steaminess! Especially in the later episodes. Really good kisses. Besdes that I love a good enemies to lovers story and the lovers part was just so...cute! Just awww! A nice, short series, which didn't get the attention it deserves! It is a 9 out of 10 for me.
Short Film
The Summer Pasta Recipe
Hee Joon visits his ex-boyfriend Seon Woo. Together they prepare an italien pasta recipe and talk about the past and their relationship. Breakups can hurt and sometimes we need time to get over them and if we manage to look back and be okay with the past, perhaps we can hope for the other person not to forget us. In the end I feel kind of melancholic. 7 out of 10 for me.
2. S.A.M.
This is a UK production. GagaOOLala says this: "A tender exploration of love, sexuality and disability." And that is exactly what you can watch here. It is a quiet short film and shows us, that prejudices can't tell you shit about a person. 8,5 out of 10 for me.
Movie
Dropped/On Hold in April
Past Senger (7/12 on Gaga)
It just doesn't get any better. It's just boring and I don't like t that much. There are better things I can do with my time. Perhaps I'll binge it when all the episodes are out. We'll see. For now I don't want to deal with it anymore.
Looking Forward to in April (with MDL-Links)
Chul-soo (April 4th on Gaga)
Our Dining Table (April 6th on Gaga)
My Beautiful Man Eternal (April 7th / no international release date)
