279: V/A // Sky Girl
Tumblr media
Sky Girl Various Artists 2013/2016 (reissue), Not on label/Efficient Space (Bandcamp)
Funny little compilation here, assembled from various ‘60s to ‘90s private and art presses by two French DJs. Of course, clearance issues come for us all—the original independently-released 2013 CD version had a rather different track list than this 2016 vinyl reissue on the Australian Efficient Space label. Still, in either formulation Sky Girl has a wonderful melancholy sweetness, mapping an emotional Venn diagram between C86 indie, Vashti Bunyan, Arthur Russell, bedroom R&B, gawky synth pop, and beyond. Being largely* from the private press realm, the originals of these recordings are nearly all painfully pricey: Warfield Spillers’ “Daddy’s Little Girl” single crosses the soul ballad with Beat Happening lo-fi and will cost you $800; an original of the Rising Storm LP that contains “Frozen Laughter,” an impossibly delicate psychedelic idyll, will run you a cool six grand or so. Unlike a lot of comps that focus on this market, this isn’t really weirdo stuff. These people are for the most part fairly talented and seemingly sane people who are trying their best to make good music that will make the listener feel something. Some of them probably could’ve gotten a bite at the record industry apple with a little more luck, but a lot of the songs the compilers have selected have a private vibe that seems endemic to their nature, like overhearing something intended for a lover or a diary. Collectors pay a premium for that sense, like some Japanese novel about lovers who never meet but distantly pine in a waft of mutual déjà vu (this I guess is the plot of Le double vie de Véronique also, and “Ana Ng”).
youtube
I would’ve loved if the compilation’s liners had offered more of the stories of these recordings, though it’s admittedly fun to Do My Own Research sometimes. (And the reissue cover is lamentably drab.) The 2016 version of the comp is readily available on streaming platforms for those who wish to sample—I especially recommend prolific indie cassette artist Linda Smith’s “I So Liked Spring,” Australian minimal wave obscurity Karen Marks’ “Cold Café,” and the robotic puberty-angst groover “Feeling Sheepish” by Some of My Best Friends Are Canadians. But Sky Girl really is more than the sum of its parts, as any good mixtape should be.
279/365
* The CD version did open with a track by the Haruomi Hosono-affiliated duo Testpattern that was well-distributed, in Japan at least.

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: War of `67. Second day, main movements.
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) War of `67. Second day, main movements. After the initial clashes most fights seemed pretty much decided But some had not been joined yet, and others were still in the initial stage. And as they say, looks can be deceiving. The various clans once more took a hard look at their opponents, and decided whether to land their sunday blow now, - or postpone the descision until later. Many clans launched at least some attacks, but most kept a ready reserve to be ready for last minute manuvering With eight hours of  fighting remaining, the scores stood: Div 1 Odin`s secret chambers 108 - 23 Brotherhood of Arcane Dragons The Dragons have done their best, but O.s.c. have severely outnumbered them in claimed objectives. Winters Coming 144 - 23 Spirit of Bunny (The scores in the first report had somehow gotten reversed) The Bunnies have only claimed a few additional wins, while the Dragons have gained nearly a three-score fresh victories. Div 2 Northwind Dragons 58 - 5 Slaughter House 5 The Slaughterers have managed to claim a handfull of wins, but the  Dragons have beaten them in eleven clashes out of each dozen. M&L Team Banzai 25 - 53 Death Dealers The Dealers have managed to outscore the Banzai`ers better than twofold. Div 3 Death`s Collectors 27 - 7 Star League The Collectors have by now outperformed the Leaguers by a score wins. T.B. BlackWatch 21 - 1 Avengers of Bunny The Bunnies have claimed their first win, -leaving them a score behind BlackWatch. Div 4 Black Star Lycan Rangers 66 - 6 Omegas The Omegas have failed to claim aditional wins, but the Rangers have claimed another couple of handfulls. "Raging Vengeance" 76 - 47 M&L Black Cats 13th A.D. R.V. are definetively in front, but the Cats have not given up yet. Div 5 Heroes 21 - 48 Ronins The Heroes have managed to cross the twenty win line, but the Ronins have more than twice as many. Death`s Disturbed Asylum 0 - 30 Black Star Renegades The Asylants have yet to claim even a single objective, while the Renegades have added  a couple aditional handfulls to their tally. Mad Scientist.7 18 - 47 Death`s Revenge The Scientists have gained on D.R. but have a long distance to go if they want to get past them. Alpha Legion 0 - 40 Diamond Dragons The Legion have still failed to get any wins, but the Dragons have slowed their advance somewhat. Div 6 ***Raging Vengeance*** 8 - 46 Smurf Platoon R.V. have managed to gain a few additional objectives, but are hopelessly behind the Smurfs. ARMORED CORE 0 - 15 Chess Dragons A quiet sector of the front. A.C. have still not claimed any wins, and the Dragons have only gained two fresh victories. Defenders of Bunny 135 - 15 Today and Tomorrow T&T have gotten into the fight, but the Bunnies still hold 90% of all claimed objectives. MurderBots 33 - 11 M&L NecroMantics Another half-dozen skirmishes have been reported. The honors were even, which leaves the Murderbots holding 75% of all claimed objectives. Div 7 M&L B.o.P.S. 1 - 20 Black Star Bandits The Smurfs are playing hide and seek. This means they are unable to get any more wins, but it also makes it harder for the Bandits to find and exterminate them. T.B. 1st K.H. 18 - 33 T.I.o.M.T. The Toys have increased their advantage, and the future seem bleak for the Highlanders. Behemoth 32 - 9 **R.V.** The Behemoths have gotten their lumbering war-machines into action, and have outscored R.V. nearly fourfold. Murdermechs 12 - 20 M&L A.R.S.E. Murdermechs failed to keep up the pressure, and with the Smurfs landing a bakers dozen strikes the shoe is now on the other foot. Will this become a Match to Watch? Div 8 JC`s Rowdy Bunch 34 - 0 Major Steel The Steelers have not managed to claim any wins so far, while the Bunch have added nearly a dozen to their tally. Deaths Hecklers 22 - 0 Karma II The Hecklers have gained some additional wins while Karma still havent stirred. Have Karma given up, or will we see a late blitz turning the tables? Murdermech mini 37 - 13 Active Sleepers Did the Sleepers think it was over already and returned to sleep? The Murdermechs have turned the tables and have outscored them nearly threefold. Ronins 2 58 - 8 *Raging Vengeance* R.V. have claimed some more wins, but the Ronins have fifty more. Div 9 I.N.A. 3 - 16 Karma The Alliance was caught napping, and Karma have gotten a big advantage. But, less than a score clashes have been seen, so this is not over. Perhaps this will become a Match to Watch? Jagdstaffel 2 0 - 0 Dawn Patrol As neither side have stirred yet, this might become a photo finish. Question is if it will also become a Match to Watch? Mad Scientist 1 27 - 26 U.G.F. The Federation have seen the Scientists catch up and get in front. But it is still wery close, so nothing is decided yet. Perhaps this will become another Match to Watch? Murderech Micro 23 - 6 C.D.H. Murdermech is still way in front, but C.D.H have claimed another handfull of wins. Div 10 Borg Collective 8 - 4 House of Gowron After the first dozen of clashes the Borgs have twice as many wins as the H.o.G.`s. RED AXE 13 - 6 Banditos The Axemen have a bakers dozen objectives to the Bandits half-dozen. But this fight is still open, and might even become a Match to Watch.

Sky Girl is a mysteriously unshakeable companion, a deeply melancholic and sentimental journey through folk-pop, new wave and art music micro presses that span 1961-1991. A seemingly disparate suite of selections of forgotten fables by more or less neverknowns, Sky Girl forms a beautifully coherent and utterly sublime whole deftly compiled by French collectors DJ Sundae and Julien Dechery.
From Scott Seskind's adolescent musical road movie to Karen Marks' icy Oz-wave, the charming DIY storytelling of Italian-American go-getter Joe Tossini and the ethereal slow dance themes of Parisian artists Nini Raviolette and Hugo Weris, Sky Girl resonates on a wide spectrum historically, geographically and stylistically. It unites in a singular, longing, almost intangible ambience.
Sky Girl comprises of fifteen officially licensed songs, a two year international scavenger hunt through long-folded home label operations, the depths of internet forums and traceless acetates. Both compilers are well trained record sleuths - DJ Sundae's labels Hollie and Idle Press have reissued Arthur Russell affiliate Nirosta Steel and DIY relic Pitch, while Julien Dechery previously compiled 'Fire Star', a retrospective on Tamil film composer Ilaiyaraaja, for Bombay Connection.

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: BETTING TIME AGAIN
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) BETTING TIME AGAIN Once more we are headed for a war, and as usual Nick`s Casino offers us the possibility to place a friendly wager or two. For the low cost of 5 Niodes until the fighting start (or 10 Niodes during the first half of the first battleday)we are allowed to try and predict the outcomes of all the divisions. If we get all of them right, the payout will be 100 Niodes, while the payout if you have one wrong is more unclear. As usual, those participating in the war get an automatic correct for their own division, so they only have to identify the eight other division winners to claim the Niodes. Here follows a brief description of the divisions and the competing clans in the format Name, members (weighted average) specialists. I will also try to guess at the pairings and make my predictions on who the likely winners are. Keep in mind I usually have one or two of them wrong, so if you disagree use your own best knowlegde. Div 1 .............................................Nemesis 12 (477) 10, 2600, TR ...............Warlocks Headquarters 10 (475) 25, 70 1200 Brotherhood of Arcane Dragons 7 (427) 10, 80 1200 ..................................Spirit of Bunny10 (400) 10, 1200 TR Possible round 1 Matchup: Nemesis - Spirit of Bunny Warlocks HQ - B.o,A.D. As the Warlocks HQ have a history of winning, they have to be held as the favorites. Div 2 ...................................Death Dealers 7 (363)10, 1200, TR Myth and Legends Team Banzai 8 (330) 70, 1200 ........................Northwind Dragons 9 (249) 80, DR, Laser ............................Slaughter House 5 9 (228) DR, TR Possible round 1 Matchup: Death Dealers - Slaughter House 5 M&L Team Banzai - Northwind Dragons Despite the Death Dealers much higher average, The Northwind Dragons are so strong that I place them as the most likely winners. Div 3 .....................Avengers of Bunny 9 (227) 10, 70 DR The Brotherhood BlackWatch 8 (221) SR, DR, TR ...................................Star League 7 (217) 10, 30, 90 .......................Death`s Collectors 8 (205) 40, 55, Cannon Possible round 1 Matchup: Avengers of Bunny - Death`s Collectors T.B. BlackWatch - Star League As BlackWatch have a tradition for winning, the favorite mark have to be put on them. Div 4 ...............................Black Star Lycan Rangers 8 (200) M&L Black Cats 13th Armored Division 10 (197) 10, 40, 1200 .................................................................Heroes 11 (180) 20, 55, 70 ......................................."Raging vengeance" 12 (178) 2x 10 Possible round 1 Matchup: B.S.L.R. - "R.V." M&L B.C. 13th A.D. - Heroes The Black Star Lycan Rangers have both a history of winning and the highest average, so they must be held as favorites here. Div 5 Death`s Disturbed Asylum 9 (160) 1200, SR, DR ........................................Ronins 7 (160) 2x 1200, DR .......................Mad Scientist.7 8 (153) 2x 25, SR ..................Black Star Bandits 9 (150) 30, 65, DR ..................Death`s Revenge 10 (140) 20, 40 SR .............Defenders of Bunny 10 (127) 20, 40, 1200 ......................ARMORED CORE 7 (119) ........................Chess Dragons 12 (114) 70, 90 Fire Probable round 1 Matchup: D.D.A. - Death`s Revenge Ronins - Defenders of Bunny Mad Scientist.7 - A.C. Black Star Bandits - Chess Dragons This is a hard one. Several clans of pretty equal strenght compete, and among them we have two longtime champions. Disregarding the Ronins as top contender might be a mistake, but... While the Chess Dragons have done wery well since their start, Black Star Bandits have a similar history. But the weight of the metal makes the Bandits the more likely winners for me. Div 6 .............................Smurf Platoon 11 (114) 20, 2x 1200 ......................Diamond Dragons 10 (104) ...........................Death`s Disciples 7 (101) 70, 1200 ..................................MurderMechs 8 (99) 30, SR, DR ..................today and tomorrow 12 (98) 25, 40 DR M&L Brigade of Patrol Smurfs 12 (93) ...........***Raging Vengeance*** 12 (92) 2x SR, DR ...................The Isle of Misfit Toys 7 (89) 30, 2x 70 Probable round 1 Matchup: Smurf Platoon - t&t Diamond Dragons - M&L B.o.P.S. Death`s Disciples - ***R.V.*** MurderMechs - T.I.o.M.T. From past performance, the Diamond Dragons seem most likely to win this event. Div 7 .................................................................Renegades 8 (83) 70 ...................................................................Behemoth 7 (83) 10, 55 The Brotherhood, 1st Kearney Highlanders 13 (81) ........................................................Sacrificial Lambs 8 (75) 10, 30, SR ...................................................JC`s Rowdy Bunch 10 (72) 55, 70, SR ...............................................Heroes Light Brigade 8 (67) 20 .............................................**Raging Vengeance** 7 (60) SR, DR Missile ..............M&L Angelic Rogue Smurf Enforcers 11 (60) 2x 30, 950 Probable round 1 Matchup: Renegades - JC`s Rowdy Bunch Behemoth - Heroes Light Brigade T.B. 1st K.H. - **R.V.** Sacrificial Lambs - M&L A.R.S.E. This will probably come down to the Highlanders and the Renegades. If I have to point at a favorite, it will probably be the Renegades. Div 8 ......Death`s Hecklers 8 (53) 10, 20, 40 ..................Major Steel 7 (52) 20, 2x SR *Raging Vengeance* 7 (41) 10, 30, 40 .........................Karma II 7 (34) 10, 30, 630 .........................Ronins 2 8 (33) 30, 2x 420 ..Indo Nusa Alliance 16 (27) 150 .................Jagdstaffel 2 7 (26) 20, 30, TR .......Murdermech mini 9 (27) 30, 2x SR Probable round 1 Matchup: Death`s Hecklers - Ronins 2 Major Steel - I.N.A. *R.V.* - Jagdstaffel 2 Karma II - Murdermechs mini Death`s Hecklers won the last war, and is likely to do so here as well. Div 9 .............................................................Karma 8 (23) Deaths Horsemen of the Apocalypse 8 (21) 230 .......................................Cold Dead Hands 7 (19) ..................................................Dawn Patrol 8 (17) ..........................................Borg Collective 10 (16) ..........................................................Banditos 8 (15) .........................................House of Gowron 9 (13) ..............................................Kongregate HG 9 (8) Probable round 1 Matchup: Karma - Borg Collective D.H.o.t.A. - Banditos C.D.H. - H.o.G. Dawn Patrol - Kongregate HG Karma have the highest average, amd are the reigning champions. I think they take this one as well.

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1339
By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1339 Brought to you by ANN Highlighting the December 3363 Dino Might This time the Gaming Authorities upped the limit on what Mech models we were allowed to use to the 90 tonners. Not the best news I could get, but not particularily bad either. As the 90 ton is one of the stock formations in the wars, the formation was recently updated. But even if it hadnt been, this was a sudden death event, so there was no need to put the formation into the Arena immediately. While I took care of other business, Bruno (my chief Tech) did some last minute adjustments, and  some time before the scramble were to start we went over to the mountains. We were again scheduled to slug it out on K4, but this time only two opponents had higher licenses than mine, and it seemed quite a few contestants still had their main formations up. I took that as an open invitation to seize the top, and after doing so  the crew were told to dig in and start getting footage of the action on the rest of the tops. The first part, holding the position they managed. But as the action on the rest of the tops was sporadic to nonexistant the footage from most tops were just stills. But at least it made it fairly simple to see that this events winners had been: Div 1 373+ (26 Commanders): Jeff Haas, Warlocks HQ (4h,17m) 2: Fabio Favaro 3: Sherriff Leary Wretham 4: Gary Muenzel 5: Bernard Johnson 6: Claude Poirier 7: Robert C Goetz Sr 8: George Warren 9: Were Wolf 10: Christine Mainer Div 2 -372 (8 Commanders): Paul Knight, Spirit of Bunny (14h,11m) Div 3 -278 (13 Commanders): Darryl Proctor, Northwind Dragons (1d,14h) Div 4 -202 (13 Commanders): Sten Hugo Hiller, Star League (5h,53m) Div 5 -159 (30 Commanders): Scott Abbott, Chess Dragons (19h,31s) Div 6 -108 (20 Commanders): Jack Travis, Ronins (5h,30m) Div 7 -82 (20 Commanders): Jarem Launda, M&L NecroManiacs (1d,14h) Div 8 -53 (12 Commanders): Aliera Smith, JC`s Rowdy Bunch (1d,38m) Div 9 -35 (16 Commanders): allanbrainstorm, I.N.A. (4h,55m) Div 10 -21 (16 Commanders): Al Layton, RED AXE (1d,11h) Div 11 -11 (11 Commanders): 1legamer (1d,14h) 8+7(4S)+8(3S)+5+7(1S)+4(2S)+2(G,1S)+0+0+0+0= One Gold, eleven Silvers and twenty-nine Bronzes were awarded to Commanders who obviously had overweight Mechs in their formations. Total Contestants: 185 Total medals claimed: 147 (of 165 possible) Compared to the Brawler event we just had, the number of Commanders signing up incresed by twenty-eight. Unfortunately the imbalance between the tops were pretty severe this time, (the three least popular tops had just one more contestant combined than the most popular one) so we had plenty of unclaimed prizes. At the end of the award ceremony a total of eighteen Bronzes from five tops were returned for resmelting. This event was the first in a long time where not even a single Gold were contested during the last half-hour. In fact, all of the Golds were held for a minimum of four hours, five of them for more than a day. Question that arises is if this was due to a serious case of haves vs have-nots or if the fighting spirit had somewhat evaporated? Always hard to say, but an indication can be seen by looking at the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event: .............Silvers......Bronzes Div 1 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10 Div 2 ....4 of 4.........3 of 3 Div 3 ....4 of 4.........8 of 8 Div 4 ....1 of 4.........5 of 8 Div 5 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10 Div 6 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10 Div 7 ....2 of 4.........8 of 10 Div 8 ....3 of 4.........5 of 7 Div 9 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10 Div 10 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10 Div 11 ..4 of 4.........6 of 6 Wery little fighting overall this time. In fact only K4, K7 and K8 had any successfull medal attacks, and the total of medals changing hands on those three tops were six Silvers and seven Bronzes. This event was one where none of the clans managed to claim more than one Gold. We had an unaligned winner; 1legamer on K11, while none of the Brawler winners managed to claim a follow-up win Upcoming event: Cindron Chrono Here we get a split event. The basic rule is that no Mech heavier than 55 tons is allowed to fight on any of the tops. In addition, on the eight highest tops the 55 ton Cindron is supposed to shine, and Commanders are not supposed to field more than one non-Cindron in their formations. They are of course free to do so anyway, but all such excess Mechs will be ignored when it comes to the struggle for the prizes. Event ends October 5 between 2300 and 2330 New York Time

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: How special will the war of `58 be?
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) How special will the war of `58 be?
After the double war we had last year, we are headed for what the head Craftsman, -Nick Shapiro, describes as a "Regular Old Clan" tournament.
To put it plainly, unlike the wars of `57 those who sign up for the war will face their normal opponents, and will be allowed to use specialists.
For some. these wars might look like an exercise in futility. When you face opponents who have been around forever, -and still have about the same licence as you have, one could be excused for thinking it would be a more or less even fight. The reality is however that quite a few of them have a fighting power few can match.
Partly this might be because they have contributed to Nick`s coffers. Another reason might be all of the freebies they have gathered over the decades, or the prizes they have won in previous events, whether that is KotM, Wars, Circuits, Waves or other universes.
All of those prizes give them a big, -but still fair advantage. After all, anyone could have done the same and gotten similar prizes. But, one advantage some of them have is the "Grandfathered" big Mechs they are allowed to use.
It is a really hard challenge to face opponents having the same licence as you have, but who are using Mechs models you have in the hangar, but are not allowed to use yet. And worse than that, in some cases said Mechs are actually upgraded PAST the Licence of the owner.
But unless Nick and the rest of the Craftsmen remove the Grandfater rule (That Mechs you had when the restrictions went inyo effect can still be used) and impose the hard limits we now have for using prize Mechs on all, those opponents will still have wery big clubs to bludgeon you with.
So, what can one do to avoid those monster Mechs? Unless you elect to sit out the war, the only way to do it is to become a specialist.
And not any kind of specialist either. Those opponents will still be allowed to use those big Mechs against you if you elect to specialize in one of the total tonnage, rainbow or weapon specialites. To avoid them, you should elect one of the Mech tonnage limit specialists. They will still be allowed to attack you, but as a minimum any BFM they have (95+ tons) will be useless.
Which specialty to choose is of course dependent of what Mechs you actually have, but if you have a higher Licence and a full Ant formation the odds are they cant touch you. For the other tonnage formations, the number of N-Mechs you can put into the formation to stiffen its spine is a consideration, but as a general rule 20 ton formations tend to include 30%+ AxeBots/Commissars and those who have done well in previous Wars/KotMs will have quite a few craftsmen Mechs, making the 40 and 55 ton specialists iffy propotions. The tonnages least used are 80 and 90, so if you do have a decent formation there, it might be the opponents cant touch you there.
Well, it is still some time until the war starts, so you do have time to start preparing those formations. And who knows, perhaps you will give those opponents a run for their Niodes.

The fighting continued, but in most cases the results seemed given. Out of the 32 Battles only 4 were decided by margins less than 10.

Sacrificial Lambs 43 - 10 **Raging Vengeance** The Lambs continued to outscore R.V. and in the end they had 4 wins for each loss.
Probable round 2 Matchup:

Shadows Garden 34 - 17 Karma The Gardeners came back, and in a strong offensive they hammered Karma and got a 2-1 victory
Active Sleepers 29 - 3 Jagdstaffel 2 A short handful of additional skirmishes were fought. The honors were even, so the Jagdstaffel barely avoided being crushed 10-1.
Probable round 2 Matchup:

Probable round 2 Matchup:
Mad Scientist 1 - Horsemen Squadron I.N.A. - Dawg Patrol Banditos - Kongregate HG Borg Collective - Martian Boogie

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: Mecha Combat #1108 - May 3352 Single Rainbow
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184)
Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1108
Brought to you by ANN
Highlighting the May 3352 Single Rainbow
The Gaming authorities gave us a challenge this time.
A Single Rainbow.
As in all Rainbows, all models are legal, but a Commander can only field a certain number of them. In the Single version, no more than one Mech of each model is legal.
This was not particularly good news for me, there are several of the top models I lack, and quite a few of those who are in my hangar are far from fully developed.
But needs must when the devil drives, and Bruno (my chief Tech) was tasked to put together the best possible formation. Once that was done, the formation was brought to the mountains where a spot on the slopes were claimed.
Then I got a call. Report back to the compound on the double. It turned out the conflict between Okarisho Mining (our client) and Manthome Metals had flared up again, and as I had been the man on the spot the last time, guess who got sent back?
Correct, yours truly.
The task took lots of time, and when it was over, the climb had ended quite a bit of time ago.
At least my crew had gotten enough footage for me to figure out the winners this time had been:
Div 1 293+ (31 Commanders): Bernard Johnson, Warlock (3h,15m)
2: Dexter Berry
3: Fabio Favaro
4: Terry Cole
5: Sal Vezzosi Jr
6: John T Mainer
7: Gary Muenzel
8: Jeff Haas
9: Chad Leon Baker
10: George Warren
Div 2 -292 (19 Commanders): roward, B.S.L.R. (57m,38s)
Div 3 -183 (12 Commanders): Ales Tomasek, B.S.L.R. (21m,34s)
Div 4 -154 (23 Commanders): Brian Vaughan, T.B. BlackWatch (28m,3s)
Div 5 -121 (26 Commanders): Brian Wilson, Smurf Platoon (1h,17m)
Div 6 -87 (26 Commanders): Brian Lee, Ronins (11h,12m)
Div 7 -64 (14 Commanders): Shidik Dwirahmanto, ITC (4h,12m)
Div 8 -47 (10 Commanders): Nick Walter, **R.V.** (20h,2m)
Div 9 -31 (11 Commanders): Skye Trammel, ICP (7h,48m)
Div 10 -17 (11 Commanders): igbryce78, *R.V.* (2h,35m)
Div 11 -10 (11 Commanders): Scott Dye (19h,33m)
Total Contestants: 194
Total medals claimed: 144 (of 165 possible)
Compared to the 30 ton event we just had, the number of participating Commanders rose by three.
However, the imbalance between the tops was much worse this time. Mount Olympus alone had just one contestant less than the three least popular tops combined. After the award ceremony, a total of twenty-one Bronzes from six tops were returned for resmelting.
The last half-hour saw two golds in play, while eight Golds were held for more than two hours.
Was this a case of strong winners, or rather a lack of fighting? To find out we take a look at the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:
.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....0 of 4.........7 of 10
Div 2 ....3 of 4.........7 of 10
Div 3 ....3 of 4.........5 of 7
Div 4 ....1 of 4.........6 of 10
Div 5 ....4 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 6 ....1 of 4.........7 of 10
Div 7 ....3 of 4.........8 of 9
Div 8 ....4 of 4.........5 of 5
Div 9 ....4 of 4.........6 of 6
Div 10 ..4 of 4.........6 of 6
Div 11 ..4 of 4.........6 of 6
The four lowest tops (K8, K9, K10 and K11) was all wery peaceful, and had not even one succesfull attack between them. On the other end of the scale was K4 where most of the Medals found their way to fresh holders. The rest of the tops had fair to brisk action.
The sole clan to bring home multiple Golds from this event was the Black Star Lycan Rangers. They claimed the top prizes on K2 and K3. We also had one unaligned winner; Scott Dye on K11.
None of the 30 ton winners managed to get a follow-up win.
Upcoming event: Nifty
Here we are back to split events again. On the two lowest tops (K10 and K11) the only rule is that no Mechs might weigh more than 40 tons.
This rule holds on the other tops as well, but there you are only allowed to have one non-Nifthel Mech. (You can have as many Nifthels as you have room for in the formation hovewer)
Event ends October 18 between 2200 and 2230 New York Time

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: Mecha Combat #951 - December 3345 iMountain Chrono
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #951
Brought to you by ANN
Highlighting the December 3345 iMountain Chrono
When it comes to the Chrono events, like this for only iMechs, there are some important considerations a Commander must take into account.
Of course, having the Mechs is vital, but in addition one should have the time to keep an eye on the formation and sign up as soon as possible.
In many Chrono events, signing up early is not that important. If you miss the first few score rounds you can still make up the difference. But from time to time there is a short Chrono where the score rounds come frequently from the beginning.
I had the iMechs, time was more of a problem, and when I finally noticed the event, twenty-one score rounds had already passed.
There was no realistic way I could outscore all of my opponents, and pressing business would keep me away for most of the climb.
My team mates Able Hunter and Drake Hunter was however on the mountain, and was willing to climb to the tops of K2 and K4 to get me top quality footage. Later review of that footage showed that the highest scorers had been:
Div 1 223+ (31 Commanders): Fabio Favaro, Warlock (+12180) 2: Bernard Johnson 3: Ben Rail 4: Sherriff Leary Wretham 5: Jeff Haas 6: Shawn Wretham 7: Daniel Scott 8: Sal Vezzosi Jr 9: Joe Kump 10: Stroker Spot Div 2 -222 (11 Commanders): Able Hunter, Star League (+15210) Div 3 -148 (10 Commanders): Yusuke Paul Okabayashi, M&L Blood Wolves (+9070) Div 4 -118 (15 Commanders): Drake Hunter, Star League (+17140) Div 5 -92 (18 Commanders): Daniel Chung, Steampunk Dragons (+8650) Div 6 -69 (12 Commanders): Fredo Gustavo, Renegades (+29580) Div 7 -56 (11 Commanders): Don Rafael, *R.V.* (+18940) Div 8 -46 (9 Commanders): Nick Walter, *R.V.* (+10610) Div 9 -33 (8 Commanders): Jeffery Dinkel, *R.V.* (+21920) Div 10 -25 (14 Commanders): MacSplosion, Pathetic Loser Clan (+24840) Div 11 -17 (14 Commanders): MacCamper, Home for the Criminally Insane (+23880) Div 12 -14 (14 Commanders): EpideMech, Home for the Criminally Insane (+43560)
Total Contestants: 167 Total medals claimed: 148 (of 180 possible)
Compared to the previous (SelfSame) event, the number of participants dropped by twenty-two. Could it be the shortness of the climb perhaps? The lack of contestants resulted in a total of thirty-two Bronzes from nine tops ending unclaimed and returned for resmelting.
The highest score achieved in this event was 120 000. Five Commanders managed to stay on the top for 98 uninterrupted score rounds: Renegades Fredo Gustavo on K5, Jeffery Dinkel from *Raging Vengeance* on K9, MacSplosion from Pathetic Loser Clan on K10 in addition to MacCamper (K11) and EpideMech (K12 from the Home of the Criminally Insane. EpideMech on K12 also had the highest margin to the runner-up (43560). This time the lowest demand for a medal was 0 points on K10.
Ten of the winners had margins of at least 10 000 on their side, while even the most contented top was won by 8650. So the winners were near unapproachable. But was that the situation for the lesser prizes as well? To get a clue we take a look at the differences between the medal tiers in this event:
...Silver to Bronze..Bronze to nothing Div 1 ...….900......…...3145 Div 2 ......5940...…...….N/A Div 3 ......3580......…….N/A Div 4 ......2770......…….N/A Div 5 ....15430......…..3660 Div 6 ......4600......…….N/A Div 7 ......5220......…….N/A Div 8 ....18800......…….N/A Div 9 ......7020......…….N/A Div 10 ..11400......…….N/A Div 11 ..16860......…….N/A Div 12 ….9520......…….N/A
As one can see there was wery few contested Bronzes, but one of the Silvers was determined by less than one thousand. So at least on some tops showing up early might make a difference.
Two clans managed to secure double triumphs this time. Star League on K2 + K4 and Home for the Criminally Insane on K11 + K12. But the best clan was *Raging Vengeance* who brought home a triple Gold Collection from K7 + K8 + K9. No unaligned Commanders rose to the top this time, neither did any of the Selfsame winners.
Upcoming event: Single Rainbow
As for all Rainbow events there is a limit of the number of Mechs from each model a Commander can use. This is the most restrictive of them, -only one copy of each model are allowed.
Event ends April 7 between 2100 and 2130 New York Time

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: MultiVerse, the Final War Second day - Midtime crisis
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) MultiVerse, the Final War Second day - Midtime crisis
The day turned out to be one the people in the cities clamor for. The sun was shining from a cloudless sky, and just a very mild wind to give a minimum of cooling for those spending a pleasant day outdoors.
Out on the battlefields it was another story. The sun beat unmercifully on the combat machines, adding additional heat to what the already straining heat sinks had to cope with. Most Cockpits stank of sweat, fear and spilled hatorades, but that was minor inconveniances pilots had learned to ignore in the crucuible of the fight.
As the time passed the halfway mark, the scores stood:
Div 1
DRAGONS 117 - 5 **Raging Vengeance** The DRAGONS have given away a few objectives, but are so far ahead that the result of this fight is a foregone conclusion
MetaVerse IV 20 - 111 DRACONIS The elite forces of the DRACONIS might have met an opponent slightly tougher than expected. Not that it gives them any big trouble. This is another fight where a reversal of fortunes seem impossible
Div 2
WYVERNS 67 - 18 Heroes Multi The WYVERNS have taken control of this battle. Despite the Heros tenacity and ability to get the best out of close battles, here it seems they are overmatched
Death Squid 139 - 86 Myth & Legends: Team Bamzai The Death Squids have slowly taken over the initiative from the Banzai Team. In the so far bloodiest battle of the day the Squids seem to have the victory in their tentacles, but perhaps a Legendary rally can turn this into a Mythical victory?
Div 3
WizWom`s Warriors 57 - 8 Leo`s Lions So far the Warriors have been out hunting Lions without taking significant damage. Perhaps the Lions are waiting for the night to descend before the full pride goes hunting?
Sacrificial Lambs 29 - 79 Prize Seekers MultiVerse The Lambs have gotten some wins, but the Prize Seekers have gotten almost three times as many. Can the Lambs counter this trend?
Div 4
*Raging Vengeance* 48 - 3 Nex Squad Two more of the Vengeance seekers have stumbled onto the Ant gronds without a single ant to their name and been defeated. Otherwise this is a battle they will have to work wery hard to lose
Omegas the Lost Clan 16 - 11 Saints While the Omegas was out securing objectives, the Saints was watching from the monitors they had posted. When they felt the time was ripe, they started nibbling. The Omegas are still in the lead, but this could be a very interesting match to follow.
